I received 3 bids, including one with the same manufacturer that came in about $7,000 more. We brainstormed design ideas so the center cover wouldn't be so low and we came up with the 3 tier approach. I went ahead and splurged with insulation, fan, lights and the "4k" aluminum beams to have 4 post (instead of 6 with alumiwood). The one area, as I've seen on some of the other comments is the scheduling/communication issue. Like other contractors, they sometimes have multiple projects in parallel, and sometimes it wasn't clear which days they were coming and when they were going to finish. Response to owner's reply: To clarify for future readers, we were given multiple different explanations throughout this process regarding the materials. At one point, we were told the materials were being held at a warehouse due to financial issues unrelated to our project. Additionally, in the signed refund agreement, we were explicitly told we would receive a refund regardless of whether the manufacturer provided a refund to the company. Even after formal remedies were initiated, there were still opportunities to resolve this matter directly. Full materials were ever delivered to our home, and the patio cover was never completed. Our review reflects our direct experience based on those facts. Original Review: Working with this company was the most stressful experience we've had with a home project. We paid a significant upfront amount for materials and the initial demo and cement work for a patio in July 2025. The demo and cement were completed, but the materials we paid for were never delivered and the patio was left unfinished. After taking our payment for materials, the owner failed to provide them. Despite repeated attempts to get updates and resolve the issue, communication became inconsistent. He offered a refund, but that was never delivered either. We were ultimately forced to pursue formal remedies to try to recover our money and are still dealing with this as of March 2026. Avoid this company. When installing the patio, they had to run electrical underground. I warned them that there were other wires in the ground where they were digging, and they didn't pay attention, breaking one of the existing underground wires. They claimed they only nicked it, and it was fine but nine months later the power to my back shed failed and it cost me $4000 to run new wires. I told my about the ruined wire and that the new electricians didn't know how to reconnect the patio heater that Austria correctly installed during the patio installation. While they may have used to be legitimate (judging from prior positive reviews), I'm afraid that is no longer true and they are no longer able to follow through on completing projects for some reason, financial, or otherwise. I finally was able to get in touch with Ulyisis. He came out and looked at the patio door. Removed broken part. Gave me a time for the repair. Uly then called me to say he had the part and could he come out to repair the door on Saturday 6/21/25. We waited all day for Uly to show up. I called late in the day and Uly said that one of his employee's was going to come out and he would call his employee to find out when he would be here and call me back. Ulysis never called me back. The biggest problem with this business is they do not communicate. All phone lines are left full of messages. Tiger wire vendor (subcontractor) no longer in business. Uly and his staff do good work. Our old wood patio sustained some water damage during the continuous torrential downpour that came not too long ago, instead of just patching it up with some questionable materials that we would deem "good enough" as we would do repeatedly. I decided to finally overhaul our humble patio that have stood the test of time faithfully giving us shade and protection from the elements for at least three generations. it was time for her to retire, and so retire she did. We live in a close-knit neighborhood, everybody knew everybody, and we all help and watch over each other (neat huh), so naturally I asked them for some recommendations for this project, once I got a list going, I would then do my due diligence and do my own "research" on these companies. I narrowed it down to four, Austria Patio Covers was the first one to respond so naturally they were the first one to get the opportunity to give me their sales pitch. Greg came over, I told him what I wanted done, he gave me his honest suggestions, showed me some options based on my budget, and gave me a cost estimate. I told him I had a few more people that were coming today to give me their version of what he just told me, I would then decide who to hire based on what was presented to me, he understood, gave me his card with his number and sweetened the deal with a very competitive pricing out the door alongside additional options included. When I told him which company was coming after him, he gave me a prediction of the cost they would quote me and told me he was confident his offer would be well below theirs.... He was spot on the number, almost too accurate that I didn't even needed to see the 3rd or 4th person that was scheduled to come that day. I called them up to cancel their appointment with me and called Greg back, and that is how we started. Everything and I mean everything went according to the plan, it took a while for the wait to get the materials but that was already expected and explained to me why, and I was satisfied with their answer. Once the ball got rolling, I was kept updated by the owner himself, Ulises was polite and very professional, him and his guys were working fast and efficient, respectful to our property and always made sure to ask our opinion on decisions that affected the work being done. Kudos to them for being patient with my dad who asked them repeated countless questions (the usual Asian Dad behavior... smh). After a total of 3 days the Patio was completely done, including all the electrical installation. They cleaned up nicely too, nothing was left behind (nails, wood, etc..). Overall, we are overwhelmingly satisfied with the finished product. Thank you Ulises and crew, you are now listed in the same category on my phone as my family Doctor, my favorite "to go" food place, my lifetime barber, this dude at the only dry cleaners place I trust, and my Dog's favorite groomer. Ulises is very busy but his team does a good job and they stand by their work. I too had the challenge with delays and getting the project going after signing the agreement and getting the materials orders. Ulises came out to take the measurements, was very friendly and easy going. The challenge came when the target date for the install, which was 6 - 8 weeks out, was continually pushed out. I would receive multiple updates and reschedules due to materials, other project delays or simply miscommunication. It was obvious that he's overbooked and people pushing for their projects to get started. Once Ulises and his crew was onsite, the project moved along quickly and they worked on the install and made tweaks until I was satisfied. Overall the pergola job turned out great but the project was delayed for quite a long while (2+ months). The delay was supposedly due to materials, which is out of Austria's control but the big negative was that the communication during the delay could have been better. I would love to give 5 stars and I would have if the communication was better and all the mishaps didn't occur as well as keeping to the timeline originally given. We got a few quotes prior to going with Austria. When the salesman came and sold us the world, for a good price and a better timeline than the rest of the companies we were very happy and excited. Then we got a call for measurements within a week which made us feel even more excited that everything was moving pretty quickly. It was even nice meeting and having the actual owner come and do the measurements and speak to him and to know everything was in-house. They had given us a projected timeframe of 2-3 months because well everyone knows "due to covid and shipping delays" that's the new norm excuse for every business now but of course we understood. We started this project in June and well I called in early August to just get an update because well it was 2months at this point and wanted to see where we were at. The lady who answered the phone wasn't too helpful and really couldn't give me any answers and said someone would call me back. Then, i called again I believe towards mid to late august well none of the numbers worked and well I wrote an email because well these people had a good portion of our money and we were paranoid that once again we would be scammed like usual. Well got a call from the owner and he explained they had a new phone system but wasn't aware they were unreachable which on our end is nerve wrecking but I guess not so much on their end since they've received payment. Any how, he then magically could give us a start date which was 9/19. We were excited because he said 4 days everything should be completed which would work out awesome prior to my daughters birthday party. Well Monday came and well they showed up later in the day to demo front porch. Then they left and heard nothing from anyone Tuesday..Wednesday a guy shows up and i even tell him i have no clue whats going on no one is telling us anything. Thursday evening I get a text about what was going on but all in all the timeline given ended up going 3 weeks long due to miscommunications, no communications and just headaches after headaches to be honest. At one point my husband just wanted to say forget it and stop the project completely due to them putting up the front porch and then taking it down because how we wanted it and told the salesperson at the start was not how it was done. Then also the backyard patio was again figured out from the beginning and then one of the workers tells my husband the way we had chose was going to make the fan too low and well no one ever said that in the beginning so they started to put it one way and then it had to be changed because we wanted it how we said the original version. It was just one headache after another. It really sucked the most that the day our daughters bday party was she couldn't even take pics or video outside the front of the house because they were working on the front porch. Overall, the quality is good! Looks beautiful, workers friendly, owner friendly and that its all in-house workers no third party is good but just the lack of communication, timelines upsets, mishaps, unable to get a hold of them and being sold the universe at the beginning to that not getting relayed to the actual workers is what made me give them 3 stars. Like I always tell my husband, everyone is so quick to collect and say sorry and excuses but no one ever wants to discount or see it from the customers point of view and what we have to go through as well. We work hard for our money and to have these expensive projects done to have to go through multiple headaches sucks! Sorry doesn't always cut it anymore! Ok so my only real complaint is Customer Service. Each time I would text to get updates. I was told, let me check and they would get back to me. We knew there were going to be delays. It wasn't until close to 90 days that my husband called and then we got a start date. The final day of completion they ended up coming the day before (when we weren't home) so we didn't get a final walk through. No final bill, nothing was left for us. Which I thought that would be something they would want to do and to get final payment. It was a few days later they messaged asking for final payment. I asked was anyone going to come and get our thoughts? They said they would check with Ulises. Then we got a text saying he would be able to come out and tried to set a date but in the end I decided it wasn't necessary. I had high hopes because each person we came in contact with Bob, Ulises, Rosa and the guy who came to do the install (wish I remembered his name) were so nice and friendly.
