Full service pampering while watching one of my favorite chick flicks? Yes, please! Went to Coco for last minute mani-pedi ($37). Like most nail salons, they do accept walk-ins (but they also take reservations FYI). I was pleasantly surprised to find they take credit cards (many nail salons are cash only) and have supposedly long-lasting nail polish. They also did the mani and pedi simultaneously, which always makes most sense to me to cut down on time (the whole experience was an hour but I didn't really have anywhere to be so it was fine)The icing on the cake was that they were playing Sweet Home Alabama on DVD-- much better than SVU or the news playing at my other nail salons. There are only 2 things I want/need in a nail salon: friendly-ish service and manicures that last. Coco has the former; only time will tell about the latter. But experience is really the top priority for me-- if I'm paying for a service or food, I'm not paying for the attitude or to feel stressed out or anxious-- daily life has enough of that for free. My highest priority with these experiences is relaxation. Some cracks in the foundation of Sweet Home Alabama (spoiler alert): * Why is Reese Witherspoon's character so lukewarm about Patrick Dempsey? Are good looks, charm, and a sweet disposition not enough for people anymore? Do people realize how hard that is to find in one person? * I'm not understanding how her character Melanie can have a high-powered career in New York and suddenly flip to raising a family in rural Alabama. Love is great and all, but you don't need to give up on your dreams, Melanie (unless your dreams have changed, which is fine and a valid choice). But all in all, fallacies withstanding, Sweet Home Alabama is a great movie, reminding us that you can't forget true love. **Edit: Manicure didn't last 3 days-- two nails on my dominant hand and several on my non dominant hand are chipping slightly. My usual nail salon is closed on Sundays and I needed a pedicure, so I'm so happy I walked in and got one from Rebecca. The salon is very relaxing and bright. She is so friendly and personable. She is talented and takes nail care seriously! She pays a lot of attention to detail and does a fabulous job. I will definitely be returning for a builder Gel manicure with designs from her! Mary, the owner, is amazing at getting my nails done. I don't have a car, so I prefer nail salons that are within walking distance of the T or my apartment. Coco has been in QC for almost 10 years I think. The colors: Color selection isn't that huge for regular manis and pedis. Lots of pinks, reds, and purples. I like blues and greens for my toes in the summer time hehe. Not a deal breaker though! Color selection for gel manis is a good selection. Lots of OPI and shellac colors to choose from. The mani: Mary is precise. She gets down to the nitty gritty and makes sure your mani is flawless. I like that I don't have to get up to wash my hands - she brings a bowl of hot soapy water with a brush to wash and scrub your nails for you instead. I thought this was quite nice...and different from most nail salons where you get up, wash your hands, and return for the painting sesh of the gel mani. The pedi: Pedi is as basic as it gets. I got a regular manicure. Had to get shellac off they charge $5 to take off. Did not clip cuticles. Did a messy job painting nails. I kept on seeing fuzz on my nails when I told her about it she just painted over it! There were only 2 people working and as soon as we got there customers started walking in. My girl seemed to be rushing to keep up with them. There was a women waiting to get a pedicure who ended up leaving because she was soaking her feet while my friend & I were getting our nails done. She said she didn't have time; maybe she should've made an appointment. They charge $2 if you pay with a credit card. You cannot leave tip on your credit card so make sure you bring cash. 5 stars for the price! 4 stars overall! I decided to stop here to check it out, I just needed a pedicure, and it's just $20! Other places are in their $30 price range. I feel bad for the lady because my toenails were rough so she had to buff it alot and also cut a lot of dead skin and cuticle. I love the massage chairs and also themselves massaging my legs. There are only 2 ladies there, so if you're impatient please go somewhere else and not act like a total snob or a bitch, thanks. This is the ONLY place I will go. I LOVE Coco's!! They are very friendly, but respectful if you just want to sit back in the pedicure chair and relax. They always have a movie playing, and the chairs have great massage settings. They do a great job on your nails--pedicures & manicures. I get my nails done every Thursday, and I have been to so many places in Quincy and Boston---this is the best. Truly. And for only $20 for a pedicure, you can't beat it. Of all the nail salons in the Quincy area (and there are quite a few) I like Cocio Nail Salon the best. The salon is very quaint looking, the owner has put a lot of effort into making it look really nice and inviting. I find the staff to be very friendly and they are quite talkative with the customers. They have an excellent selection of procucts/nail colors to choose from and they re-stock often. They also get in new colors quite often. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the pedicures and manicures is very good. I think they do a great job with French manicures. I do not get acrylics, but I have seen other customers getting some very intricate designs on thei nails. Overall, this is my favorite nail salon in Quincy. It is right on the Red Line (Quincy Center stop) and they take walk-ins as well as appointments. read more

5 stars for eyebrows ONLY** I can't trust anyone with my brows but I can go in cocos even when my brows are a complete disaster (neglecting my brows for weeks) and Mary, the owner never disappoints! As far as nails go however, I would not do again. I normally go to a diff nail place in Quincy but two weeks ago I decided to get a fill since I was already there for my eyebrows and I must say, unless you can have Mary do it, don't do it at all. I have acrylics on and just needed a fill--Mary started on me-cut down and reshape but had a diff lady paint my nails and she did an awful job. She had to undo the paint and when the cotton ball got stuck to my nails, instead of removing it completely she painted over it and as you can only imagine what a mess that left so she had to undo it again! I didn't think anyone who specializes in nails could ruin a paint job but she did. Overall, the people there are nice--eyebrows are a must do here, but nails, not so much. read more

At one point I gave this place 5 stars. After my experience 2 weeks ago, I give it 0, with a possible complaint to the board of health on the side (almost.) The woman who did my mani/pedi was AWFUL. When she did my pedi, she used this harsh block/sponge thing to get the calluses off the bottoms of my feet -- normal. However, she kept going way too high up the back of my foot!! It was extremely rough and painful but her English wasn't very strong and I didn't know how to ask her to please stick to the bottoms of my feet, because it's not meant for sensitive skin. The mani was awful as well, though luckily not painful. Usually I enjoy an extra-long mani because it means more pampering, and I'm all in for that.... this one was just SLOW. SO SLOW. And at the end my nails looked so horrible that I, literally, could have done a better job myself (and I'm not very coordinated, that's why I go to nail salons!) I caught the attention of one of the other women who I thought was the owner and whose English was a little stronger, and she took one look at my nails and sighed, clearly exasperated at the woman who had done them, and started to re-do them. I had been there for 2 hours at that point and just wanted to leave. Also, the backs of my feet/ankles had started bleeding! Not just red, but actual blood coming out. I showed this to them and they jumped up and put alcohol on the cuts (owe) and band-aids. I was SO DONE with this place! As I limped out, I asked about the cost, and whether I was all set. They spoke with the owner, who said the mani was free (since it sucked and my nails looked like a 5 year old did them), and I would just pay for the pedi. WHAT?! I said "The pedicure made me BLEED!!!" and they talked for a minute and said OK, fine, all set. As I was leaving they all apologized. You're going to think I'm a wimp and/or exaggerating when I tell you that it was literally 2 weeks, to the day, before I could wear normal shoes. I was stuck in clogs (and one pair of sandals whose back strap was high enough to not be an issue.) And even with that, walking hurt, and just wearing socks hurt. I put anti-bacterial stuff and new band-aids on twice a day to make sure it didn't get infected, and luckily it didn't. I am SO never going back!! Worst $40 ($30 + what I planned for a tip) I ever saved. If you appreciate wearing normal shoes and being able to walk without being in pain, do yourself a favor and do not go here!! Went here yesterday to get my nails re-did as I had gotten them done from somewhere else, and it was a disappointment. The place isnt my first choice, but after going here again, i might venture to this place when i want a french manicure. Let me tell you about the overall feel of the place first before my nail experience. The place is relatively small, on the weekend they have about 4 technicians. They are much older than normal and can be slow, but are extremely attentive. The color selection here is extremely small and doesnt have much range so it is better if you want to bring your own, or go with popular shades. As for my experience, I liked it better than I had ventured here years before. I asked for a french and the lady who was attending to me stated that she does not do it as good as the owner, therefore she asked if i could wait. Honestly, I didnt mind so it took me only a minute to wait for her. In the meanwhile, the lady took her time to clean all the gray polish from my prior polish off even underneath my nails. She did a thorough job and didnt rush the whole process. When she did my french she used the normal brush from the polish and then touched up from a smaller external brush. This i really appreciated because she took her time. I am extremely picky with my nails and how my end product turns out to be. I actually liked how my french was a thin version that I liked. Honestly, this isn't my first choice, but after visiting today. I may just end up going here whenever I bring my own nail polish TWO things that I believe are worth nothing: 1. They file your nails and even it out according to the frame of reference from your nail that doesnt include the cuticles because that is deceiving and at times it may end up lopsided and slanted. 2. They have no UV light, so you are going to have to wait to dry by a fan. Its old fashioned but you may make it to the end of whatever movie you are watching. read more

So I got a shellac manicure 10 days ago and it started chipping, but I didn't have time to go to the place where I initially got it. I called Coco (they're on my way home) to see if they could remove shellac and replace it with regular polish. And guess what I found out - they do shellac! AND it's only $25, which is $11 less than I pay at the other place! I will keep going there. I love their nice massage chairs when I get pedicures, and it's so close to Quincy Center. Services I have had there: a fill, eyebrow wax, pedicure and gel manicure and all have been excellent. They just started doing waxing so I can do everything while I am there (nails, toes, eyebrows). Very reasonably priced, just had a pedicure and it was $20.00. Comfy massage chairs and the woman did excellent massage on my feet. A lot of reflexology, I left feeling very relaxed. It is a small, clean place and there is little parking out front (street parking, hour max) but very easily accessible by T or bus (Quincy Center stop). Just tried this place last week after having a HORRIBLE experience at Fancy Salon which is just down the street. I went into Coco at 7:30 and they closed at 8:00. They were more than willing to take me, do a wonderful job on my manicure, and even stay late until my nails were completely done drying! The salon was really clean and neat which is important for a business like this. Plus, their manicure is only $10 and I couldn't have asked for a better job! Mary, the owner, did my nails and I am definitely going back to her every week. This is the best nail salon in Quincy. Every technician has excellent attention to detail and are extremely skilled in their work. They do not rush. The focus is not on the money, but on the quality of the services provided. For example: Have you ever gone and gotten a full set and had an overload of acrylic, which made your nails look very bulky and unnatural? You will never have to worry about this at Coco's. Your acrylic set will look 100% natural and it will last at least two weeks. This is the only place that I will go in order to receive a pedicure. They remove all that needs to be removed while taking their time. Your feet will be thoroughly scrubbed. Lastly, they give great foot massages. There are always pros and cons... I don't usually go to this salon, but I was on my way home, was passing by and really needed my nail done. I figured I would give them a try. When I went in I told the owner I wasted a full set. She told me to pick a color. I asked her if she had gel. She said "yes." That probably would have been the time to tell me that gel cost considerably more! I gave the lady a photo of what a wanted. It was a very basic photo of very short round acrylic nails. I told her I wanted them to look very natural. I specifically said "I do not want them square." It took this lady almost 2 hours to do my nails and when they were done they were perfect little squares! - exactly was I said I didn't want. I didn't say anything because the lady was actually very sweet and she spent so much time on them. I felt like she really believed they looked good too. I really just wanted to go home at that point as well. I was slightly annoyed that I spent two hours there and didn't really get exactly what I wanted. However, what really pissed me off was when it came time to pay, the lady brought slip for me to sign and it was $50.00. Obviously confused, I asked why so much. Apparently, the owner charges $15.00 extra, on top of the $35.00 for the full set to use gel polish! My regular salon charges $5.00! I expressed my discontent to the lady who did my nails about not being told beforehand or it not being posted anywhere. Meanwhile, the owner, hearing everything, never turned around and said anything, or apologized. She just kept on watching videos on her phone. The lady who did my nails felt so bad about it, she didn't even want to take a tip. I told her it wasn't her fault and insisted, despite my nails not being done correctly. I would say that Coco Nails is one of the better nail places in the Quincy Center. The pedicures that I had received are always done well and I have never felt rushed through the process. I agree that sometimes the massage is weak, but more often than not the massage has been pleasant. It is not a high end place, but the staff are always pleasant and friendly. The downside to Coco is that the manicures never hold up. I do not understand how the same technician can do such a good job with my pedicure but not nearly as well as my manicure. I do not get gel or full sets so I cannot speak to those, but the manicures are only ok. I would recommend the pedicures wholeheartedly. read more

I used to love this place, until they up and decided to inconvenience me (and I' m sure other people too) by deciding not to be open during their hours of operation. Twice. Also, I got my hair cut here one time, which I probably could've done better myself but whatever my hair's long anyways, who would notice? The lady literally just cut across the bottom of my hair. Didn't even section anything off. Or wash it. I'd bet money on the fact that she's not a licensed hair stylist. Wax and nails are good- if they happen to be open when you want them. I recently moved to Quincy and have been checking out the nail salons in the area for the past three months... and believe me, there are plenty to choose from! Coco nails has become my go-to place. The ladies are friendly and the salon is very clean with simple but elegant decor that makes it very inviting. The massage chairs are great and they offer a very sizeable selection of products. The prices are very reasonable. However, if you are looking for waxing, you'll need to look elsewhere. But I will continue to frequent Coco nails for my mani/pedi! read more

This is by far my favorite nail salon to go to. The owner is super nice and definitely cares about her business. I get my eyebrows done there and she always takes her time and does a really good job. I went here on a whim to get a French mani/pedi for a wedding. My manicure was excellent, especially regarding the care given to my cuticles. The guy who trimmed them was very good, and did not cut my skin. I also observed him sanitizing the instruments, so I felt good. My pedicure was also pretty good, except that I'm not sure how hygenic they are about rinsing out the tubs. I've had a bad experience at another nail salon where I got a plantar wart, so I rarely get pedis now, but I didn't have a choice for the wedding. Also, I have short nails so the guy did a good job painting the white tips. My nails look long and natural. Overall, I would recommend them. read more

Cute spot in Quincy Center. I got a mani/pedi the other day and it came out nice. They have massage chairs and offer a foot scrub but not much of a foot massage, I think they want you to pay $1 a minute because they have little signs posted everywhere with feet on them, whatever. My pedicure was terrible. When telling them the polish was too light(looked water down) they had an issue with me trying to find a better color. Tools used look gross. Seems like they do anything to conserve/save money. When painting my nails she didn't use a toe separator. Which would be on but when I stand up my 2 second toes touch my big toe. So before moving to the "dryer" I informed her of my funny toe issue and she began to argue with me. I was trying to prevent her for Having to repaint my nails. As if I do t know my own body. So unhappy with the the outcome this pedicure instead of waiting 2 weeks for a new one, I will prob get another next week. What a waste of money. Updated 5 mins after original post **+Nails were under a fan not a dryer just a regular mini fan for 20 mins late comes by puts so clear liquid on it and said ready. Against my better judgement I decided to but on my shoes. Big mistake nails are ruined. Don't ever get a pedicure here! They are terrible. I like this place a lot. The nail ladies are friendly but not chatty and they have fit me in busy or not even when I bring two friends with me. I tend to bring my own polish because their color selection is a little weak. They have like 50 different shades of red and not too much else. Mani is $12.
