Over the years this place has really fallen off. Terrible Management, the owner and manager Dan is very unprofessional when dealing with returns, and has quite a temper tantrum. Overall prices all around are higher and marked up across all products, not sure why, don't fall for big stores. This is a really large outdoorsman store that Eureka really needed. There is so much to do outdoors in this region and this is the largest I've seen out here. I came when they were newly opened and it was so clean and well stocked. They have everything you can think of for all activities in the area. The selection of brands is wide. The prices on some items are a bit more, but it's generally reasonable overall. Checking out was a breeze. The staff helped me through checkout really quickly. read more

The Customer Service at RMI is completely terrible. I bought an item from them when it became defective. I tried to return it and they said no returns unless it is in brand new condition. I feel bad that the people in the Customer Service have to take the brunt of management Foley, but I guess that's the way it goes. I do not recommend this place. read more

Was in need or a pin lock for our trailer and stopped in for the first time to check out the store and pick up a lock since we saw they sold trailers, etc. we were able to find what we needed quickly and found some other Husqvarna and Makita goodies to checkout. The store seems very focused on Yeti products if that's your cup of tea, and plenty of fishing and hunting gear. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable, and willing to share their personal experiences with the products. The only downfall is that some of the products seem to be marked up slightly over competitors. But, depending on your needs this may not be a big issue. read more

This year I purchased a Jackson peddle kayak, trailer and gear from RMI. The entire staff was extremely helpful and the quality of everything is superb. Being so satisfied, I decided to purchase a new rifle. I waited so long to make the decision to purchase it, RMI could not get it for me before hunting season. I purchased it somewhere else and was not pleased. I should have taken my new rifle to them to mount and bore sight my scope. I thought by paying a $40 fee to the other store for their professional mounting, it would be easier and quicker. Boy was I wrong. I went to the Redwood Gun Club range to finish sighting and started at the hand gun range. I could not hit the target so I got a 200 yard target and took another shot. To my surprise, it was about 6 inches to the left. I took my new rifle back to discuss the professional mounting and another issue. I asked to talk to their gunsmith. They said they don't have one but they could send my rifle away and I should get it back in about 4 weeks. With a hunt coming up soon, this was not acceptable. After talking with them, I decided to leave and went to RMI. At RMI, I discovered they don't charge anything for mounting and bore sighting a scope on a rifle they sell to you. They also have a gunsmith which is SO important. RMI remounted and bore sighted my scope so I went back out to the hand gun range. I put up the same 200 yard target, took one shot and missed dead center by 1/2 inch low and 1 1/2 to the right. I was then able to go to the 100 yard range and finish sighting in my rifle. Cost is not everything when purchasing any product or service. The cheapest is not always the best buy. What happens after the sale is the most important aspect. The best buy includes a competitive price, quality of the product and service after the sale. If you want all three of these, shop RMI. read more

My family and I had the worst experience today. We went there to look for a gift for my brothers birthday, we were greeted by this tall gentlemen ok great but than he proceeded to followed us through the whole store. Everywhere we went he was there but never ONCE did he asked us for help. I felt so uncomfortable that I asked my husband to let's go. We grabbed our boys and proceeded to the exit and as we turned around he was there. So my husband confronted him. Than we asked the lady at the register, to get the manager. Told him what was going on....I get it customer service but I worked at retail for 14 years and I know customers service verses "keeping an eye" on someone. You don't understand when I say this man made me so uncomfortable. We were telling my brother about this and he said the same thing happen to him and his friend. Listen RMI we get it customers service but if you are making your customers uncomfortable to even shop that is not customer service at all! read more

What a great experience! I walked in there trying to find a simple and inexpensive optic for my Ar-15 REPLICA air gun as it , of course, came with junk sights (not bought here). I did no research and walked out with a pretty useless scope for what I had intended it for (plinking). Went back the next day and even though they don't usually take returns when the package is torn up the way mine was, they understood my mistake and decided to refund it. Went back to see if anything else caught my eye. The guy behind the counter in the firearms section was very helpful and after just a few minutes, I walked out with (what I found out later) a perfect red dot reflex sight for what I was doing! Great customer service, knowledgeable staff & a great overall experience even though I made a mistake. Thank You RMI! read more

Purchased a brand new carry-on 6x10 dump trailer all the leaf springs broke in the first week. The manufacturer is willing to fix it under warrenty but it's been taking them 10 days to submit the estimate! It's a 4 hour job to re-align the leaf springs and reclamp them. I'm really starting to get upset. I'm more than frustrated at this point in the quality of the product and the service I recieved! So after the warranty got figured out they fixed the leaf springs promptly and I can go pick it up I honostly just want to cut my losses and sell this dump trailer, very cheaply made, bought it one month ago and can't wait to get my plates so I can sell this piece of shit. More than dissapointed it's just been a headache read more

This place is pretty cool, its easy to find things and the employees are friendly and ready to help if you need them. I like to come here for my fishing gear and they have a lot of great stuff. They have a whole room filled with discounted items from all different departments and its the best. Their regular prices are pretty high but if you can find what you want in the discount section it worth it. I got 2 fishing poles for around $15 each and a ton of my tackle for very cheap. Its cheaper than sportsmans warehouse which is always a plus. Great place read more

I have never written a review before today, but felt this business and staff deserved a compliment. I am from southern california and traveled up to humbolt to pick my daughter from school. I also live blocks away from one of the biggest sporting goods stores around (BPS). Now the size and inventory might not be as big, but the selection was mostly top of the line gear at a reasonable and fair price. What drove me to write this was the customer service I was shown today. From walking in!!! and bieng greeted, to bieng walked directly to an employee who can help me with my ammo needs...while all the while I was approached 3 other times asking if I needed anything else, and had great conversations and help finding what I came there for...I wish I had a a RMI where i am...the home town attentiveness was a change from plucking a ticket number and very refreshing . .. thank you all again , pleasure shopping and speaking to you all at your store. read more

this place is great, ive bough alot of guns from the gun department and all the staff are super cool! the prices are pretty typical for humboldt (which is pretty higjh) but supply and demand is a real thing around these parts. one of the owners dan has always been cool to me and when i buy bulk or a high ticket item he can sometimes gimme a small discount which is awesome. the crowd i know is, Eric, chris,justin, tay (moved on) levi, 1 armed travis (haha family friend), natalie, andf the gunsmith ( i forget his name) hes actually done a few of my guns and hes is great, there is not alot of gunsmiths in this county and he does a good job! although i do prefer pacific outfitters ( simply because ive ben going there alot longer and the prices on guns are a tad bit better), still though RMI is GREAT and id never have anything bad to say about it. sometimes the gun counter can be a lil cut and dry when they are busy but hell who isnt when its slammed with a bunch of ppl screaming lol. check this place out :) read more
