They don't answer phones ever and when you leave an email if the call you back it is at there convenience when they feel like it. I recently purchased a bike for my dad from RoadBikeOutlet.com but the bike arrived with a broken gear shifter. Obviously, I wanted to return it and get a refund so I called customer service. The customer service manager, Phillip, informs me that the return label will cost $28.11. In addition, I will have to pay the original outbound shipping cost of $28.11 PLUS a restocking fee of $36.90 based on the condition that they receive the returned package (whatever that means). Not to mention, I paid $69 for the pro build that my dad will not get to benefit from and is non-refundable. Long story short, it'll potentially cost me $93.12 just to return the bike and I'm out $69 for the pro build; a total of $162.12. Considering how much it'll cost to return the bike, I asked the rep if there's any flexibility. Phillip just recites the return policy and shows zero sympathy. In fact, he gets sarcastic and tells me to read return policies the next time I order products online. Maybe it's just me, but it's ridiculous that they will charge the customer $36.90 based on the condition they receive the package; however, when the customer receives a broken product, Road Bike Outlet takes zero responsibility AND they want me to pay the outbound shipping cost. I recently bought my first bike from them. Because I'm a new rider, I had so many questions and kept looking at the site and comparing bikes for about a month before I decided to buy. The day before I placed my order, I called customer service and asked my last questions. The customer service rep answered my questions professionally and clearly. They obviously know what they are talking about, including what bikes they have in stock and how heavy they are in comparison to each other. I ordered my bike with pro-build, and it actually came within the week. This is very impressive, as they had to build my bike and ship it from FL to NY. It came in a huge box, and was easy to assemble. The only problem I had was that I ordered my bike with bullhorn handlebars, but it came with drop handlebars already attached. I emailed them, and they responded within a few hours, saying they will send me the replacement bullhorn handlebars. I took delivery of my Vilano Diverse 3.0 last week and it was packed perfectly with zero blemishes or scratches. I put it together without any issues and took a few rides to tweak the gear shifting. That was it. I've had to spend more time correcting big box bike purchases that were set by their employees than this one. Quality is A+ on this bike. I bought a cheap bike from Road Bike Outlet. I knew I needed to upgraded, and thought this would be fun project bike. But I must warn others that you are getting what you pay for; a cheap bike. On the Vilano Website they are advertising the Vilanao Tuono as having a "Cassette: Shimano MF-TZ07". The MF-TZ07 is not a cassette it is a freewheel. That means the bike has the cheaper wheels with the cheap screw on hubs. Unfortunately it doesn't even have a MF-TZ07 freewheel as was advertised on Road Bike Outlet website. They installed a much cheaper Slick Shift System, 01 Index "Freewheel" Manufactured by DNP Long Yih Co., Several reviews state this freewheel broke within a year. This part sells for less than 6 dollars and is found only on very cheap bikes. The bottom bracket is not Shimano as stated it is a 68mm 113mm VP-BC55 semi-sealed. It has a bearing that needs to be adjusted. It was adjusted too tight on the bike they sent. If you do not adjust it correctly it will also have a short life span The shimano derailleurs are outdated and no longer can be purchased anywhere. I have called and asked them what parts have been installed and they can't even tell me. Both wheel hubs where much too tight, spokes were under tension. The paint job is at best minimum. As a project bike a learning experience. I have replaced the handlebars, crankset/freewheel, bottom bracket, brakes, shifters, pedals. I now agree with the forum experts; save up your money and get a good bike. read more

Honestly, I couldn't as for better customer service from Suzanna, Jamison and Phillip. They all helped me order my bike and even a month later assisted in replacing the back tire that was stolen, (LOCK UP EVERYTHING ON YOUR BIKE, these bikes look more expensive than they are are are high on the theft radar!). All of their staff were eve kind enough to help me laugh off the situation after loosing a bit of sleep the night it happened. Not only do I appreciate their kindness, but their willingness to help. I was able to ask any questions while my bike was being shipped and it felt like I was talking to an old friend on the phone. The bikes are you get what you pay for. If you want a reliable bike that looks great and gets you place to place with out spending too much, this is the place to go. However, if you are a bike guru and are looking for a bike that is the highest quality you can get, but want a discount, I would suggest going straight to a bike store and talking with someone. In my mind, the bikes here are great for the price. Just don't expect a $1,000 bike for the $250 price tag. Thank you for everything! I would order from here again if I ever need a new bike. Great for the price and very very stylish... but remember, thieves will target your bike. I now have TWO U-Locks and will be carrying an Allen Wrench with me to take off the seat... I will never use Road Bike Outlet again. Their customer service was the worst I've ever received. It is ludicrous that a business would rather lose out on $200 sale than eat an $11 address change on an order. After a poorly trained employee informed me my order would be corrected and sent the right address, I tracked the order only to find that it was still being shipped to the wrong address. I called RBO and spoke with a gentleman named Lenny, who also stated that he was a manager. Lenny's tone was insulting and it was apparent from the beginning of our conversation that he did not care about my transaction or the company that he represents sale. Instead of helping me, he transferred me to a woman (I did not catch the name) that was even more rude than he was. Wish I would have read some reviews first. I recently purchased an inflatable stand up paddleboard from this company. I received this product damaged. I put the product in the water and noticed small (but still existent) bubbles. this was in addition to the board being EXTREMELY difficult to inflate, and poor material on the siding (almost rolling up, not going to last). I paid over $400 for the product and was given free shipping. I contacted the company because I was not comfortable using a product that was damaged for fear of sinking in the lake! they refused to return the product without charging me return shipping for a damaged product. Instead, they wanted to either help me diagnose and FIX the problem (not interested, I paid for a functional product, not a damaged one needing repairs) or for me to pay the return shipping, expensive given the weight. Worst Customer Service.Very dishonest. RBO sent me the wrong bike. When I contacted them, it became apparent that they were advertising the wrong bike. RBO said "send it back we will ship you the right one" but when they realized there was a cost difference between the bike they were advertising and the one they were sending they simply refused to correct the mistake and gave me a credit for my purchase minus shipping. To this day I never got the money back and I had to dispute it with my credit card company. They tried to create some confusion with the year and even blamed the manufacturer. So to recap, had to spend a great deal of time to assemble the bike, then dissassemble it, then I had to rent a pick up truck because I cannot fit anything in my 2 seater car. Result waste time, money, gas and no bike. All goes well it might be a good place to buy but believe me if anything goes wrong...you are out of luck read more
