He custom made my orthotics on their machine called Shoe Dog. the process was cool and innovative. They were able to slo-mo my running pattern i.e, heel strike and so forth. After taking a thorough assessment of my feet and running style- the Shoe Dog knew exactly what these tired old feet needed. I was impressed beyond belief! The cool part is, when you become a VIP Shoe Dog member, you can return everything after 30 days with no questions asked. That's da bomb right there! Tyler the manager helped me do the DogShoe process and fit my insoles. He was very supportive and excited for me. Dude, these personalized insoles are Am-ah-zing 2. Kelsey helped choose shoes for me that fit my shoe profile and looked good! She even recommended I get a gym pair and a regular workout pair. Everything about Road Runner - the décor, the employees, the background music, the abundant marketing materials - oozes friendliness and enthusiasm, which is fitting for an active-living kind of store, and makes it a very pleasant place to shop. But be warned: the friendliness is also an intentional component of a finely tuned sales routine. Aundrea was very attentive and knowledgeable as I went through the shoe-fitting diagnostic test, and she patiently helped me try on many pairs of shoes and socks afterwards. Her recommendations were spot-on, and I felt much more informed and confident than I have when buying running shoes in the past, and that's really awesome. I was not pressured or hurried at all. Thanks, Aundrea! The first surprise was that somehow, the shoe-fitting diagnostic also included getting a pair of custom insoles heat-molded to my feet. I didn't explicitly ask for them, but suddenly there they were, perfectly shaped to the contours of my very own feet. If I didn't buy them, would they go into the trash? But they come with a 90-day refund policy, so I guess there's no risk in trying them... This was slick salesmanship at its finest. And then there's this thing called "VIP membership." Yours for a flat fee, the membership gets you a 10% discount, a more generous return policy, and so on. The funny thing is that every price tag in the store puts the "VIP" price front and center, with the "regular" price in a much smaller font underneath. So getting the VIP membership doesn't feel like getting a discount - it feels like avoiding a surcharge. Given the total cost of my purchases, the membership more than paid for itself, but that didn't change the fact that the pricing model feels deceptive. There was another sales trick that I didn't notice until I got back home: buried within the stack of brochures and coupons and referral cards that I was given at checkout was a friendly little notice that my new VIP membership will now automatically renew itself each year. Putting a perpetual subscription on my credit card without telling me? That's a big no-no, Road Runner. Overall, it's a good store with truly helpful staff, so I recommend checking it out. Came here because I am visiting from San Diego and forgot my walking shoes I usually get in at least 6 miles a day. HAD to have my hokas!! So I called and spoke to Andres the supervisor, he looked me up told me my shoe style and checked inventory. When I walked in he promptly greeted me and knew who I was! Better yet there was a sale table with a pair of Hoka trail walking shoes and he was so accommodating he gave me an even better deal since he has super customer service skills. I cannot tell you how much roadrunner sports in general has changed my ability to walk run etc. the insoles are life changing. Cute girl that worked there had BLACK LIVES MATTER written on her shoes (the rubber edge), told her I liked it a lot. Great experience. This is one of the few places that will let you run on a treadmill and try different shoes. They have a process that will help you find the best fit. I have used similar services in the past and paid a high premium. Here it is free. Just set an appointment. I also elected to get the custom inserts due to my high arch. Dylan A. greeted us when we walked in. He was very helpful and explained to us the different types of shoes I may need. I was very impressed with the treatment we received that night. I stopped in to Road Runner Sports in Berkeley recently to get fit for new running shoes (I will be participating in my first half marathon in under a month). This was my first time being in the store in a long time and I had a pleasant experience! I was greeted by a very friendly associate, LD, who helped me during my visit. LD conducted the Road Runner fit test on the treadmill and then helped select and walk me through the attributes of 4 pairs of shoes. Ultimately I ended up buying and keeping a new pair of the shoes that I already had however, I wanted to especially note LD's upbeat and positive attitude. He was patient with questions and knowledgeable about the products and created a great customer experience. read more

I came here to check out some shoes for my upcoming half marathon, and I wanted to try out their "ShoeDog" to find out what's the best shoe for me! Especially recovering from foot surgery not too long ago, my boyfriend recommended that I give them a try and get high quality shoes. The associate (Paige) who helped me was very friendly and professional. However, their staff and/or system charged my boyfriend twice for a membership & guaranteed returns if I didn't like the shoe even if I already wore it. But when I brought it in, they told me since it's been used I can't return or exchange it. So not only did they charge us twice for the membership that guarantees returns/exchanges within 90 days, but they didn't even accept it when I wanted to exchange it for a different brand! Terrible service. Would not recommend Road Runner, I even called their customer service line for help but they were also useless. read more

I went three years ago and got great service and great shoes. Got the whole treatment. Last two times I have been back, the sales staff did not look at the recommendations for my kids, even though I had the whole ultra-tech thing done for both of them. They seem to have abandoned their schtick of measuring your foot with a nuclear holograph and just have you try on shoes like other stores. Sales guy told me my son would only find sizes in women's but made no effort to show me women's shoes, so I walked over to REI to buy the shoe from the women's department. Inexperienced staff undercutting their whole sales concept. Next time, I'll just go to REI. read more

I just had one of the best shopping experiences. It is so great when someone reps a product and they really know what they are talking about, Geoffry the fit expert, was incredible. The store offers a fitting - you walkl on a treadmill in socks and you're videoed front and back, it's fed into a computer and the info comes up on a screen. The best part was Geoffrey could really talk you through it, have it make sense, and offer suggestions outside of what the computer offer fo a shoe. I've run for years and have never had anyone spend the time, have the knowledge, or present it to me in a comprehensive way. I'm back to running after a several years break and am so glad I found Geoffrey at Road Runners Sports...I'll be back! read more

I have bought most of my running shoes here specifically because of the wear 'em and love 'em 90 day guarantee. As a runner most of you know how valuable this is. My running group had an event here and I won a free pair of shoes so I bought my old faithfuls my Brooks Launch 2 and for my free shoes I got the Brooks Launch 3. I ran in the 3s two times and got heel blisters both times so I attempted to exchange them for the 2s and was told that since I won the shoes and they were "inventory" I couldn't exchange them. I am not pleased. While I didn't pay for them I expected to be able to use them. read more

Where do I start. Man this place is amazing. We had Robby and another guy (sorry forgot your name) helping us and he was super patient and knowledgeable. He took me and my whole family and got us all laces with the most comfortable running shoes I've ever had. Me and the wife both grabbed Hokas. They give you some socks and have to walk and jog on a treadmill to see your foot strike then they scan your feet on this machine which tells you if your feet are wide and how long they are. There's no pressure they bring out 4-5 pairs of shoes to try on. They also heat up some I sold and mold them to your feet to try with the shoes to see if that helps. They're 75$ but well worth it if your arches hurt when your run. You have 90 days to try the shoes out and you can swap them out as many times as you need to find the right pair so there's no buyers remorse. If you're a seasoned runner or just beginning this is the place for you read more

Sucks!! To put in a word. Especially because of store boy Dylan. I bought shoes ,to be precise, on October 18th 2017 ( recommended by store woman) and was feeling pain when I wore these shoes only this happened a month after I bought the shoes, I tried conforming whether the issue is in my foot or in shoe by trying different foot wear and I felt the pain when I wore these shoes only. I came to replace it on December 23rd 2017, i was told "store is good for narrow foot people. sorry we can't do anything, if you want new shoes you have to pay 30 bucks extra because these are the only ones available, else you can return the shoes for store credit" it was ridiculous and I got VIP membership for this reason when I bought my shoes and this is how you treat me. read more

It was a good decision to visit this shop today. Had lots of foot problem for few months and looking for a perfect footwear and insole required by my podiatrist. KELSEY one for the store staff was so calm, pleasant , patient and such HUGE help! She went into details to help me get solution I needed with foot recovery.
