One of her dogs happened to have a large litter of 12 F1b (unexpectedly high) so she had more puppies than deposits (BTW deposits are refundable which you won't find anywhere else). I didn't know this until I completed the interest form on the website. She wrote back within 24 hours and gave me her phone number to call her. We chatted about the breed and she was so easy going, clearly cared for her dogs and new pups and wanted them to have good homes. We drove 8 hours to her house the following weekend to meet the last puppy available in that litter. The kennels were clean, there is an indoor heated/cooled kennel as well, we met the sire who belongs to Darby, but mom had returned to her guardian home. We had seen pics though. The week after that I flew him home with me. Even after bringing him home Darby has stayed in contact providing helpful tips. She's very prompt with texts. Our pup received a clean bill of health at the vet after we brought him home. He is such a good puppy. Bursts of energy followed by naps, loves being in the backyard, loves snuggles, fine with brushing, sleeps in a crate. Darby had trained them to use a doggy door and he used ours right away. Things I liked: She posted the Embark genetic results on her website. The deposit is refundable in case it isn't a good fit for your family. Her communication was prompt. Parents are on site with pups. Had we gone at 5 weeks we would have seen mom too. Kennels are clean and dogs and pups are well taken care of. I actually like that he wasn't microchipped because we don't need a breeder 500 miles away on our microchip account in case something happens. Love the parti coloring from the poodle side. They also thought it strange that breeder gave puppy antibiotics to come home with. Definitely not the norm unless there is something going on. I contacted sterling and they claimed it wasn't from them and were a bit defensive in texts until I let them know that my main concern was to ensure all their dogs were safe. They then offered some sympathy and prayers but never once said to bring him back or offered to help pay for his vet fees which most reputable breeders will do. He also tested positive for giardia. This has been the absolute most difficult experience because we love Chewie so much but I am concerned for his future health, especially after reading the rest of the Yelp reviews. Sterling labs did not show parents onsite and never sent any videos or pictures of my pups litter as other breeders have done. Makes me wonder why all their posts are old videos they just seem to repost on a cycle. Very unfortunate and my dog has now cost me more than I could afford and we have only had him less than 2 months. I thought I had done my research and bought from a good breeder but obviously not the case. We paid over $3k for him and his vet bills have now surpassed that. What was supposed to help mend our broken hearts from putting our 13yo lab down last year has turned into a nightmare. Please do not buy from them.
