Been using this vet for 5 years. 4 months ago, my cat got pretty sick. They were good in taking her in that day. After exam and blood tests they recommended an ultrasound, but they don't have a machine. Ended up at Piper in Middletown. Again....another exam and then ultrasound. After all that, got an antibiotic that did the trick...to the tune of $1200 between both vets. Here's the kicker....she's due for a couple of annual shots. Advance Vet refused to waive the "wellness exam" which they say is required, despite all the exams she had 4 months ago. First they said that they would have to check with the business manager. Since when does a business manager decide what's best for my cat? When the manager left a message a couple of days later, she stated that it was the vet's policy to not give shots without a well exam, no exceptions. Very unprofessional DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! I had a failure to thrive kitten that I was bottle feeding he was very small very tiny had worked with my friend whom works at pieper Hospital they were able to help me get him eating and getting stronger. He was so small and grew slower than it's siblings from my sisters cats litter. So I took him under my wing. I can here when he was still under a pound just to be a good mom make sure I was doing everything right and if they had any tips. Dr. Norma just kept saying oh he's guarded he could have medical problems and there's nothing I can do for you. I went there to make sure I can do everything I can for him so he thrives not get told what can happen clearly she didn't have any idea how to handle a failure to thrive baby let alone give advice to help me like a vet is suppose to do. Then october first I brought him in he was cold breathing heavy he had a cold and he got better then got worse over night. This was after trying to get into the vet and my husband was treated very rudely asking for an appointment a few days before just to make sure he was OK since he had seemed better. Was rudely hung up on. Then this day he called in tears crying that we need him checked please we both had work they were close where I could leave for the time being to bring him. Brought him a nice dark curly haired lady was my nurse she new he didn't feel good and treated me withthe utmost care possible. Got him a warm blanket and wrapped him with that instead of my sweatshirt I had. The doctor comes in unwrap him to look at him she doesn't even wrap him back up! Even the tech got made and helped me wrap him back up and she kept tell the doctor he has to stay warm several times to her. They take him in back now to stabilize him. Stabilizing an animal means oxygen chamber iv fluids and antibiotics if needed. Cleary he needed all of those things. They also had the audacity to ask me to surrender my kitten because I can't afford the er. Almost anyone out there can't its expensive when I said no I was treated like I was ahorrible person for wanting to keep him.. then the tech leaves comes back with another tech with ama paper to sign! I was bringing him to Pieper anyways so I just signed it so I could get the he'll out of here and get him someone else. That took forever as well to get him out of there because they wouldnt give him back. Finally i get him back dont even get out of the driveway he freaking out panting. I got there at 930 I didn't arrive at pieper til 11 doing cpr on him as I'm driving cuz these idiots wanted to dilly dally with my cat for an hr. He couldn't even make it to pieper. I wanna know how I brought him in to them calm no panting alert to panting and freaking out the next. Howd he go from breathing to barely breathing. He wasn't able to be brought back after ten minutes I told them to stop. i was almso informed and given copies of his paperwork from this vet and there was no heart rate respiration on it as well as everything was mainly marked normal how was he at all normal he had discharge from his nose and eyes heavy breathing and congested lungs that was told specificly that his lungs were off but yet its says normal on their paperwork they sent!!! Below is proof so when they respond and say its all false its infact not at all. Thanks to pieper for doing more than this vet did for him in his short time. The staff is just heaven sent they were able to take care of me promptly even though I was a new patient and dropped in unexpectedly. I have been bringing my dogs to Advanced Veterinary Care for several years, however, ever since Dr. Chace retired, this veterinary hospital has not been the same. Doctors come and go and you never know who will be there next. I first brought my dog in for a red, rather large round swelling near his penis. Dr. Sylvestre looked at it and felt it was some sort of bug bite, so it was dismissed. Approximately 6 months later, since it did not go away, I again brought it to her attention, and since she had already given me a prescription for a anti fungal foam for the bottom of his feet, she said I could rub some of this foam on the so-called bug bite. Weeks later, the red bump was still there. When I brought my dog back, this time I saw Dr. Marco and showed it to her. She immediately aspirated it and ran it under the slide. The next day I got an e-mail from her telling me it was a mast cell tumor that would need surgery. Needless to say, I was outraged to know that all this time my dog had a cancerous tumor and Dr. Sylvestre diagnosed it as a bug bite! Dr. Marco has left this hospital, but Dr. Sylvestre is still there, and if it were not for Dr. Marco, I could have eventually ended up with a dead dog!!! This is total incompetentence! And this is not the first mis-diagnosis on the part of Dr. Sylvestre. That foam she prescribed for his feet did no good, because the real problem was the fact that he injured his knee and kept lifting up his back feet when he ate because he was in pain from injuring his knee. Quoted $30 for microchipping Tried charging $110 claiming it's for the subscription for HomeAgain. Not true and paid them $30. Upsell vaccinations and give unnecessary booster suggestions. Here is the part that has me livid and writing this review: On my dogs follow up appointment two weeks later for the second DHPP vaccine Advanced Veterinary Care tried adding on a wellness exam for $70 which my dog had on his first visit 2 weeks prior. When I asked why they think it necessary to charge me another $70 for a Vet to exam him 14 days later, the tech just danced around his comments attempting to justify the unjustifiable. I asked for them to not provide a "Wellness Exam" and while on hold for 13 minutes while the tech communicated this with the Vet, the Vet said ok to just the $44 tech visit. Also the protocol of not being with your pet while they take them into the building is ridiculous and I will not be waiting outside next time. When you take Advanced Advantage of customers you will be called out to prevent others from getting scammed. Please stop the price gouging and treat customers fairly. read more

Absolute HORRID veterinary care. I don't even know where to start. There are so many reasons why I would not recommend: Firstly, they weren't even able to cut his nails as my kitten (who wasn't used to people) was agitated which is absolutely normal at his young age. Secondly, thank GOD I attended the second exam. I had to ask for a refund because they didn't thoroughly check my kitten. It was a 5 minute check up when they were supposed to do a whole physical. Why would I pay for a service that they didn't even do .. what a joke Thirdly, they love charging extra for ridiculous medication. One of them got my cat sick and he threw up. Knowing this, they still prescribed it again for their own benefit. They were extremely cold and rude with my kitten that we rescued. At the physical the nurse kept calling him naughty. Etc They sent me a "full report", if anyone is interested in reading this BS of a report please feel free to contact me. I will gladly show screenshots of the terminology used to portray my 6 month old kitten. My cat is 6 months old and the way they portrayed him to be was a monster. My friend has been to Dr. Chace for years, but I wonder why he did not work with her when she had financial issues regarding paying for a dental cleaning of her dog. The dog really needs it, but Chace seems to be more interested in the money. To me, a vet should care more about the animal, not the money. I have been to Advanced, too -- last time they tried to upsell a test for a heart murmur and said my cat could die -- well he is still going strong a year later. Watch out for the upselling; I heard that takes place more frequently now. So, scams aren't only by non-seen people over the phone -- vets, doctors, etc. may try to sell unneeded services to get more money. read more

The relationship started out in the worst way. One of the technicians who came to get my dog to bring him inside picked him up by his arms to the point of him screaming in pain. In the short time we were there she did this 3x. She obviously didn't get it the first time. I had to tell the doctor on the next visit when she did it one more time. And then actually complained to me that my puppy cries when she picks him up. The nerve of some people. Now today I have an emergency. He's got something lodged in either his sinuses or throat that he's trying to blow out. After my French bulldog puppy died of asphyxiation from inhaling his food this is a very touchy subject for me. I call for an emergency appointment. They can't see me until next week and all the person had were excuses about not being able to hire more staff or people adopting animals blah blah blah. I brought my dog here for years. A few weeks ago he started getting sick and stopped eating, we brought him in to get checked. After 10 minutes they sent us back home with a 400 dollar bill saying nothing was wrong and that he may just have stomach issues right now. A few days later we ended up in the ER with him. They found that he had cancer which had already spread to his liver and spleen, we lost him a few days later. I wish we had chosen a different vet, I believe our dog would still be with us. We have used Advanced Vet ever since the office opened. We currently have 3 dogs so we are frequent visitors. Dr, Chace And Dr. Kelley are extremely kind and our dogs love them as well as the rest of the staff! Yesterday our 11 year old pug had his yearly appt. and were asked if we cared which vet and i said no. i Will never do that again! Dr, Adel Benedek was filling in and she was so disrespectful, harsh, and misereable! She made me cry! Dr. Benedek should be banned from veterinary medicine ! We are very upset! I'll preface this by acknowledging that personally, Dr. Chase is nice, pleasant, and quite personable. (We actually followed him from another practice years earlier before he branched out on his own.) In recent years, though, we've observed Advanced Veterinary Care's seemingly shifting ideology come to place a premium on revenue stream growth - growing the business - rather than fostering a community for animal wellness, a one-time hallmark of Dr. Chase's care. Pricing is no longer considered commensurate with service value, here. The "Wellness Checks" demanded by this practice are less than comprehensive, amount to little more than cursory examinations, and carry a mandatory fee. (In the course of these checks, we've actually had to remind them to perform rudimentary tasks they overlooked - like taking an animal's temperature, or draw blood, for example.) In the past, a major health concern went unobserved by another veterinarian in the practice that could have been flagged earlier (according to follow-up consultation with Piper Memorial). And, at least once per year for the past several years, the staff has induced an error of some type - from prescription mistakes, to failing to disseminate test results in a timely manner - that demanded further work on our part to resolve. Quite plainly: this is not the level of service you'd expect in light of the high and increasing price schedule. Dr Chase also needs to do a better job at training today's staffers, like Marie in particular, who over the years has run the gamut from ill-informed to outright ill-mannered. It doesn't matter how nice the new building looks - it's what's on the inside that counts. Lackluster standards for civility and competence should not be tolerated. (In fairness: we have also experienced office staff that are both pleasant and knowledgeable, here. They just don't seem to stick around.) Following their lead, neither will we. read more

They should be ASHAMED for their service AND their pricing. This is going to be a long one. We'd been using Advanced Veterinary Care for our three critters for years before moving to Seattle for a time, but never again. We have a dog with severe food allergies, and ear infections are a common occurrence if he manages to get into something he shouldn't, like any common protein or grain. It's old news, it's always the same event - ear swab, oral antibiotics, and an ointment. We brought him in at 5:30 one evening, admittedly without an appointment, after leaving as early as possible from work and knowing that their hours were until 6pm. We were greeted with annoyance and a clear feeling that we were imposing by asking them to do their jobs until the actual time of close. The tech at the desk told us they were through with appointments for the day, and that MAYBE the vet MIGHT agree to see us, but it would constitute an emergency visit. There was no chance of getting in for their meager 4 hour availability on Saturday (8am-12pm) and we certainly couldn't leave our dog in that kind of pain until Monday, so we agreed. The actual interaction with the doctor and another tech was fine, but the "Emergency Visit" fee costs and additional $115 dollars on top of the regular exam fee. $115! For as previously stated, an ear swab and a few common prescriptions, our bill totaled $186. The real kicker is the time stamp on our printed receipt was 6:01pm. ONE MINUTE PAST CLOSE. The veterinary clinic we used in Seattle, by contrast, was simply incredible. Urban Animal was open from 8am-8pm every day, walk-ins every bit as welcome as appointments, and beyond reasonable pricing. There, it would have been a quick 20 minute stop for less than $60 with medication. While we don't expect to find that level of cost effectiveness and convenience in small-town Connecticut, it is clearly possible to achieve with the right business model. Making this last visit - and it is our LAST - a very, very bitter pill to swallow indeed. It certainly doesn't feel like Advanced Animal Care has anyone's animals' best interest in mind with their business practices - unless you have cash to burn and a totally flexible schedule, go somewhere else. read more

His depth of knowledge and caring personality make it a comforting experience to go there; even in times of great stress, such as when a pet is ill. He understands the sensitivity of their digestive tracts and knows which antibiotics they can and cannot tolerate. He and his staff are always so friendly and are visibly passionate animal lovers. My dog had been seen by the AVC for allergies in the past as well as for injured rear legs. I brought her mid October for severe itching, biting and scratching of herself. The vet prescribed an allergy med($120) and expected her skin to clear once the first frost occurred and the leaf molds were gone. Mid-November, her symptoms were worse after having completed the prescription. Back in for another consultation. I asked for some steroids to help alleviate her suffering. Started the steroids along with another round of the allergy medication and medicated shampoo. Two more weeks go by, she's worse! Back in for a third consultation $$. Dr Chase examines her, says her skin looks good and we are discharged. Finally, she is seen by another veterinary practice and diagnosed with MANGE! Started medication treatment and a long, slow healing process finally began. But not after my three sons and I contracted scabies from the undiagnosed infestation of my dog by the mites. So, two months, three consultations, and close to $500 later with no help. To miss a diagnosis three times...not acceptable. read more

Dr. Chace and his staff are absolutely incredible. I bring all my animals to them; however, my most stand-out experience with them was with a gecko I once had. This little gecko was particularly prone to eye abscesses. I brought her in to have the abscess drained. It continued to fill about four-five times after the initial draining. Each subsequent time it reoccurred, Dr. Chase completed the surgery for free. These people truly care about the health and well being of the patients that they treat, rather than just making money. They go above and beyond to not only make your animals comfortable, happy and healthy, but to also make fur moms and dads comfortable and well informed. What threw me off in the first place to go to "Doctor" Paul Chace were good reviews online. I should have paid more attention to the bad ones. I read a review online afterwards about someone bringing their cat, and the vet pretending the cat was not sick when even their young child could see the cat was sick, so how could a vet not see that and insist the cat was fine? And the cat was given a shot that the owner had asked them not to give the cat. I had a very very very similar experience. The vet I went to at "Advanced Veterinary Care" was Paul Chace. He needs to lose his license. He is a dangerous person and he hurt my pet. He needs to be investigated. This really needs to be looked into. If you leave a bad review for this place, please in the future make sure you clarify what vet it was there. I want to see how many got "Doctor" Paul Chace and had an alarming experience. I have three dwarf hamsters and one rabbit. All exotic pets, which means I can't just take them to any old vet. It took some research on my end to make sure my babies got the best care and Advanced Veterinary Care did not disappoint! It was easy to find, on RT 6 next to Joey Garlics. Nice quiet location. Upon entering the place was VERY clean and inviting. We were promptly greeted by Cynthia, who was so kind and caring. She promptly put us in a room and said she'd be right with us, about 10 minutes later she came in and greeted my Russian white dwarf by name, Coco. I was really nervous because Coco had a lump on her side and this was my first vet visit, but thanks to Cynthia's kindness and care I was instantly put at ease. She took her weight, asked me about Coco's diet, and we went over the symptoms. Not too long after Dr. Chace came in. We went over the symptoms again, he picked her up and examined her. I'm glad Coco was corporative. He quickly came to the conclusion that Coco has a hernia, which isn't life threatening since she is still doing everything that a hamster should. I was very impressed with his expertise, looking at and diagnosing my dwarf was very second nature to him. He went into great detail on what to look for in Coco's behavior and demeanor that would require surgery. He said it's not worth it because of the price and because she's still behaving normally, but advised me to bring her in if it gets worse so we can discuss surgery. Also mentioned that if she kept scratching at her face to come back so he can treat her. I love that they didn't brush my baby off because she's a small animal and not a dog or cat. I went to check out and pay for the visit. The staff up front were more than friendly. While cashing out, they held and played with Coco and I think she made a few new friends. The visit was only $68 and I mentioned how I have a rabbit and Cynthia gave me a book on rabbits and we discussed my Bun's diet. Because of the care, attention to detail, putting this mama at ease, and the strong knowledge they have for exotic pets, I will bring all of my pets here and recommend them to anyone needing care for their pets. On January 16th, we took our dog for a dental cleaning at Advanced Veterinary Care. We had already paid approximately $200 for some tests to make sure he was going to be okay during the procedure. We took the dog at 7:30 in the morning and in the afternoon we received a phone call from Dr. Chace. He said there were some complications, and the dog had to be resuscitated, but he was fine. We were scared but hoped that the dog in fact was fine. The same afternoon, we went to pick up the dog. Dr. Chace told us he was fine and that there was a minor issue with his scrotum (at this point we hadn't seen the dog yet) but they packed a ointment for us "free of charge", and charged us almost $1,600 for the procedure (double of what we have paid before at a different clinic). The doctor brought in the dog and the dog was mostly unconscious which was surprising to us considering he had the procedure in the morning. We were scared and in shock, not only because he was barely responding, but also because his scrotum was badly burned. Dr. Chace kept insisting he was fine and that his wound was a bruise not a burn. Still, if it was a bruise, how did he get bruised so badly? We were scared to take him home, so Dr. Chace offered to take him to his house in case he needed to be resuscitated again, and we agreed. We went home broken hearted and with many unanswered questions. The next day, we picked up our dog and took him home He was awake and wagging his tail, which made us feel better. However, I started looking at his wound closely and it was a terrible burn that also smelled like burned hair. On Friday the 18th, I asked to see the doctor again so he could clarify the issue of the burn because we couldn't understand how it happened. The office said he was on vacation until the 29th so I asked them to let me speak to someone else. Dr. Silvestre examined our dog and confirmed that the dog was burned and his scrotum was blistering. I wanted answers because someone neglected my dog but she said "I wish I could give you answers but I don't have them". Over the phone, Dr. Chace kept insisting it was bruise even after Dr. Silvestre confirmed it was a burn. I asked for a refund, but he said it was a conversation we needed to have when he got back (on the 29th and it was the 18th). They made us an appointment for the 30th and in the meantime, Dr. Silvestre offered laser treatment so his wound heal quicker and we accepted. As the owner, Dr. Chace was not taking responsibility for the actions of his staff and did not validate or respected my opinion when I said his injury was a burn. The 30th came and Dr. Chace did not refund the money and completely disregarded our complain about the burn and the fact that our dog was in a lot more pain that what he should have been because of their neglect. He did not take responsibility for his actions and the actions of his staff. No one ever explained what happened or how he was burned so badly. His comment was that we should be thankful that our dog was alive since he had complications during the procedure. We will not be taking our dog back there and I highly suggest you choose a different place to take your pet. read more

Dr. Chace and his staff performed two procedures for Gus, one to remove his undescended testicles, and another to correct his entropion in both eyes. Gus is an English Bulldog, so any surgery can be complicated by their breathing issues, but everything here went smoothly. Gus is now fully recovered after two weeks and looks great! read more

I had heard good things about this clinic from my husband who has taken his dog here for years,but was extremely disappointed in both their staff and their practices when I took her there about an incontinence issue. I was told to bring in a urinary sample, but when I asked how much the visit would cost I was only told $63 which is the cost of the consultation. They did not inform me having the urine tested would be another $63 dollars. Thus the total cost of the visit was $126 not the $63 I was quoted. I would understand had I not specifically asked about cost, but their response that I should have just known that the urine sample would be an addition cost to what I was quoted is poor business practice. A vet should be transparent about what they do, why they do it, and what they charge. Don't expect this vet to bother with any of these things. The lack of caring and information continued throughout the visit. As mentioned before my husband had brought the dog here for over 10 years and yet the staff did not seem to know her at all. She has a history of Lyme disease and thyroid problems but neither of these issues were brought up by the staff during the visit even though thyroid imbalances can cause incontinence. Perhaps they again assumed that I just knew that these are things they would be testing when they recommended I get blood diagnostics and thus did not have to bother with explaining any connections or possibilities with me. I even asked about her past thyroid medication use and Megan, the tech, told me that they had never prescribed her thyroid medication. I inquired about it several more times but Megan only bothered to look at her most recent visit and blood work in which her thyroid levels were on the cusp but within normal, and thus medication was not prescribed. Later, however, when I asked my husband, he assured me that years ago the dog had had thyroid problems and had gone on medication for awhile. For the amount of money this vet charges I would except them to take the time to know the pets that they see, especially when they have seen them for over a decade. I would expect the staff to take the time to fully disclose their policies, prices, and thought process when it comes to treatments and possible diagnosis. Again the staff at this vet just couldn't be bothered. My overall impression is that at one point maybe they were the "mom and pop" business Megan claims they are, but now the service is no longer personable and it is not worth what they charge. read more

I accidentally threw out my dogs cholesterol meds I have almost a full bottle. I had called the pharmacy to see if I had a refill and I didn't and it was over the Labor Day Holiday. I told the pharmacy that I would call them today when they opened. I received a call from the Advanced Vet and called them back to explain what had happened. The response was they haven't see the dog since May of 2015. I said No that is not correct the were both in for some shots in May of 2016 Oh but not for a physical.... So I said can we make an appt for him to be seen but in the interim can you call in a script to the pharmacy for his Gemfirborsol (Lopid). Appt. made for 9 days from I asked for some to tide me over. She said she would call me back, She said when she called back script was faxed over to Walgreen's. JUst prior to her calling I called the Pharmacy and was told that I normally pay $15.00 for 60 pills and for the 6 pills it would cost me the same. So when Vet person called back and I told her what the pharmacy and could they just fill it for the full 60 pills to save me some $$. She then throws in that it is against the law for us to dispense medication without seeing the patient for a year. Well she is dispensing the 6 pills so that must also be against the law????? BS... I then say can you please have the vet call me. Not more than 5 minutes later same person calls and said I spoke with the Vet and she is not willing to jeopardize her license. She was condescending little snot bag and I have to say as soon as I can find another vet then I will be switching. I drop at least $350. bucks when I visit and that is for well visits. I absolutely love this place!!! I've been going in here for a year and a half, since I had to rush my dog in as an emergency. They were and have always been helpful and compassionate. My husband calls it "social hour" when I run in there to pick up food, because I'm always chatting with the girls. Wonderful veterinarian care! I have not had any issues while bringing any of my 10 pets to them. I have even brought one of my chickens in to see Dr. Chase! All wonderful experiences. The staff seems to really care for each animal and a pet parent couldn't ask for more. Great service, fair pricing, highly recommend. Especially being the owner of a dog daycare, I have experience with several other vets in the area and none come close to Advanced. Please make the right choice when it comes to caring for your 4 legged friend, it could save their life! read more

I'll preface this review with the fact that the 2-star rating is based on a single experience we had recently at Advanced Veterinary Care. We rescued our dog about a year ago and have taken her to Advanced Veterinary Care since she was a puppy. Overall, we've had pretty positive experiences with Dr. Kelly and rest of the staff at Advanced until yesterday. Our dog has had chronic stomach issues and we've put her on a diet specific to dogs with sensitive stomachs as well as a probiotic from time to time. Over the weekend our dog had diarrhea and we contacted Advanced to get a probiotic for her. I tried to pick up the medicine just before the office closed at 6pm but the door was locked around 5:58 (despite several cars still in the parking lot). I called the front desk to see if they would let me pick up the medicine since I was in the parking lot and was told I had to come back tomorrow at 8am when they opened because they were already closed. I then asked if they could make an exception this one time for a sick animal and was told blatantly "No" by the person working the front desk. Veterinary care is already expensive as it is so I can give my money to somebody else that values me as a customer and my dog as a patient (since we all know our pets are like family). If you're looking for a new vet I'd be weary of a place unwilling to help when you're in need. I think great customer service goes a long way and Advanced Veterinary Care has lost us as clients because of a lack of it. read more

We recently moved to the area and were NOT happy with the vet I had planned to use. Advanced Veterinary is very close to the house, so I decided to give them a try when I realized the original vet would not work out. They got us in very quickly for initial exams for all three of my pets. Dr Chace spent a lot of time with us getting to know me and my animals and understand a little about some of their health issues. He also carries the prescription food my cats need and it has been very easy to go in and get refills. I definitely got the sense that he is more worried about the animals health and well being than just making money off of us. He spent a long time with me discussing my concerns over giving my dog the lyme vaccine and then we came up with a plan with both agreed on for how to proceed. My previous vet had said that the cats needed a teeth cleaning right away, but I didn't have time before moving. Dr Chace said that although they could use a cleaning, not bad enough to justify having to put them under anesthesia. That gave me some confidence that he's most concerned about overall care and less concerned with just making a profit off us as some of the vets I've used over the years. read more

We brought our 3 month old puppy there for his first physical and the staff seemed great. Three days later my puppy developed kennel cough and my husband left a message for them to call as soon as they arrived in the office. One of the assistance called back and was very rude and actually hung up on my husband. I called back the next day and left a message for the office manager because I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt one bad employee wasn't going to make me bring my dog else where. They office never called me back. So as a result I will never return there and urge anyone who is looking for a vet don't go here. The staff is unprofessional and has no compassion for animals or their owners. read more

I had a horrible experience at advanced veterinary care in Farmington Connecticut. I brought my bunny in for a tooth extraction on his lower incisors with Dr. Chase who turned out to not be available when we brought him in so we had to see Dr. Kelley instead. It was urgent he had the surgery because he had an abscess and we had to act quickly and we were already there. So in good faith we trusted their professional medical opinion. After our consult with Dr. Kelly I was not completely comfortable because of her lack of knowledge with rabbits. I was assured by Dr. Kelley that Dr. chase would be in the room and everything will be fine. So we agreed to proceed. The surgery was originally scheduled for 12 then got pushed to 3:30. I was not informed that there was not overnight staff to monitor the animals post surgery. When I called to check on him after surgery they told me this and the office closes at six so now my rabbit just went through major surgery and was not closely monitored. I called in the morning when they opened at 7:30 to check on him and they assured me that someone will check on him and call me back as soon as they do. I waited until 11:30 AM and still did not receive a call back. I proceeded to call three times with all calls being unanswered. So I used a friends phone to call and they answered right away. So the communication so far has been horrible... they told me he was alert and that was about it. At this point we were so concerned about his safety my husband left work to pick him up. He expressed our discontent with how the whole situation was handled and the lack of communication and the lack of attention our bunny was given. They assured us that owner. Of the practice, Dr. Chase, would be calling us later that night. When he finally did he was unapologetic, uncompromising, rude,arrogant and extremely defensive. He became very condescending and was not willing to make right on the situation or refund us the $1100 we paid for this horrible nightmare so we could take our bunny somewhere else since he proceeded to tell us he WOULD NOT do a follow up. Number six on the discharge papers states "a recheck of the surgery is necessary and should be schedule to evaluate his healing. The first recheck evaluation is included in the initial surgery fees." I will include a copy of the discharge instructions. When I mentioned this to Dr. Chase he still refused to see him and he also refused to compensate any of the fees we paid. My rabbit has a huge open wound under his chin and we were given minimal post care instructions. I now have to find another rabbit specialist to rectify what Dr. Kelly and Dr. Chase did to my rabbit. My main concern is my rabbits safety and Dr. Chase has made an already nerve-racking situation that much more horrible. On his history records, they noted that the left lower incisor was broken during surgery and a piece of tooth is still in there. They noted on the patient history record which I just noticed "owner understands", this is a false statement. They never verbally mentioned this to me. And I would never have known if I did not ask for a history report. On an x-ray from Chester veterinary clinic, Bustas primary veterinarian, that was taken the day before the tooth was totally intact. They also noted on the history report that it most likely broke because of the abscess. But the truth is it wasn't broke until they performed the surgery. I have an x-ray to prove that. My Bunny is now having difficulty breathing and his wound is totally infected. I am now having to take him to another vet to rectify what advanced veterinary care did to my bunny.. I took him Coventry and they had to fix what this place did. He took the remaining piece of tooth out that was left and also took out 3 more abscesses that advanced veterinary care left behind at a third of the price read more
