I came here on a whim because my dog was very sick and I was from out of town. I needed to get her scene immediately because her back hips weren't working, as she had played a little too rough with her doggy friends. When I brought her she couldn't even walk or stand up. They got my golden retriever in immediately, And gave her the best care. The vet tech was amazing who came to get her!!! They asked me if I needed any shots and we're very helpful. They sent us home with a prescription and also gave her a shot and within 24 hours I could already tell she was getting better. I was so impressed by the care, and they even followed up with me a couple days to see how she were feeling. The receptionist at the front desk was so kind and professional, and honestly that place is lucky to have her. If I didn't live far away I would definitely change this but unfortunately, I do but highly recommend the place as my experience was excellent! read more

I arrived 15 minutes early as requested, but had to wait over 45 minutes for my dog to be seen. About 10 minutes into the consultation, another doctor came out screaming at Dr. Beckett to go get a dog that had gotten his head stuck in between a metal fence and "it wasn't her problem because it wasn't her patient." Once that was settled, he returned and spoke to me for about 5 minutes. He went inside, and I went to my car to pay where I gave the vet tech my credit card information. When I got a bill for double the stated visit price (I called prior to my visit to ask how much the visit would be), I asked the tech about the extended visit listed in the invoice. He was completely clueless, and had to go inside to ask. I waited for about 10 minutes and called the front desk. After seeing that Dr. Beckett was walking towards my car, I hung up with the receptionist. Dr. Beckett approached my car window and in the rudest tone asked "what is the problem?" I told him very calmly that I was wondering why the visit was considered extended since the secretary stated a normal visit is anywhere from 30-45 minutes and we were only with him for 20 minutes. He told me that he didn't know why the secretary stated that, and when I didn't respond he screamed "I'll change it!" He then proceeded to put his upper body through my car window and with excessive force yanked the invoice I was holding in my right hand. I have never been disrespected this way by anyone, much less someone who is supposed to be a professional. There is definitely something severely wrong with Dr. Beckett and I advise you to steer in another direction if you need any help with your pet. Dr. Beckett was rude, unprofessional, aggressive, unprepared, irritable, and had no professional insight to give even with a full file provided (bloodwork, previous visits to internal medicine specialist, diet logs, X-rays, sonograms, scope, biopsy results, log of medicines previously administered, list of intolerances). His secretary called to apologize minutes after the incident even though she "had no idea what happened" and when explain justified his abusive behavior which demonstrates this is not the first time something like this occurs. I will be reporting Dr. Beckett to the appropriate authorities. read more

We love Dr. Beckett & all of his Associates! This is a great vet group. Everyone seems to genuinely care. Dr. Beckett is well versed in alternative treatments, such as acupuncture. While I have not had occasion to use such treatments for a pet of mine, I have had several friends who have raved about the impact on their pet's quality of life after receiving acupuncture. The facility is clean, the setting is nice and you can often buy fresh herbs and berries in season, just outside the front door! :) read more

Overall, I am sure that many people are quite satisfied with the services provided by this Veterinarian. My experience however, left me with an uneasy sense. The particular Doctor who provided the services I needed for my dog, was given specific instructions for specific administration of a specific drug, and yet failed to provide the correct drug to my dog. It wasn't that the drug given was not appropriate for the dog, but it was that I specifically requested a different drug be administered, and it wasn't until after the wrong shot was given, that the doctor realized they had chosen the wrong shot. To me that is akin to going into a hospital to have a leg removed. and they cut off an arm instead. The doctor was very apologetic, and it wasn't that the shot that the dog was given was inappropriate, in the sense that it wasn't designed for the dog, because in fact, the dog would ultimately get that shot at some point in the future anyway. It's just that the doctor wasn't paying enough attention to the agreed-upon course of action, that bothered me. The facility was clean, and it was obvious that they are a well-established business, with very satisfied clientele. I'm not saying don't use them, because in fact I'm sure that they do a wonderful job most of the time. I AM saying however, that I think you should be very careful to make sure that what you're asking for, is what's truly done. "Buyer beware." read more

BEYOND SICKENED BY THIS PRACTICE! BROUGHT MY POT BELLY( 37lbs) Wilbur who has an infected eye!! Have been there before with dr Kate who was wonderful... This visit I will be reporting g to the appropriate source... Wilbur AGAIN folks is 37lbs.... Dr Webb comes out and was ANNOYED(not sure why) she doesn't touch him at first looks at me and states well there's nothing really else to do what the vet yesterday said was fine did she mention if there was an abrasion on his cornea.? I said she wasn't sure ! she grabs the pig who clearly is in pain and squeals because of the way he is being handled granted pigs squeal I get it but this pig has been dealt with by another doctor before and was actually pretty chill. Dr. Webb then says well if you want we can give him an antibiotic injection. I state... if I want? I am here because you are the doctor and I'm going on your advice she then says well if he were cooperative it would be easier to see him! I looked at her and said did you want to give him a sedative? To get a better view of his eye? She shrugged her shoulders And says no I don't drug them I don't deal with pigs and walks away!!! out walks Dr. Beckett himself... rude, Cruel, grabs Wilbur who now of course is SCARED.... And squeals and attempts to nip him... he grabs him and of course Wilbur is petrified... he lets go and says well if you want I can give him an injection of antibiotics?? Again I state it's up to you Dr. that's why I am here. He grunted fine will give him a shot walks away comes back with a piece of board( I am not lying folks a board) Nails the pig up against the cage in my car with this board ...does not inject the pig.... STABS WILBUR (37lbs) SO HARD THE NEEDLE BROKE! THEN PROCEEDS TO GO GET ANOTHER DOSE because the medication didn't all get in...THIS IS WHERE I THEN SAID NOOOOO YOU WILL NOT DO THIS AGAIN.... WILBUR LITERALLY PEED ON HIMSELF AND POOPED OUT OF SHEAR TERROR!! NEVER WILL I GO BACK TO THIS ANIMAL( no pun) AGAIN! ITS TIME TO HANG UP YOU LICENSE YOU POS! read more

Our last Vet had moved to a new practice some distance and had recommended we consider using Dr. Beckett as a possibility to replace her. We took our two cats to Dr. Beckett and were very pleased. The staff were courteous and knowledgeable, our cats examinations were extremely thorough and when we left, we received a complete set of 'notes' from the office visit to take with us that outlined 'issues' and 'recommended actions'. We've been with Dr. Beckett for about a year now and had some minor issues that required surgeries. Both cats were handled promptly, effectively and for what we felt was a fairly price / good value. We know a good Vet, like a human doctor, is a combination of both good chemistry with clients and competency at practicing medicine. We feel we've received both from Dr. Beckett and his staff. We miss our old Vet, but we're very happy with our new one! read more

We're going on a year and Boomer is doing great! He gets acupuncture once a month with Doc Beckett and loves his walkies. He was 15 years old in January...Beckett & Associates have kept him feeling great into his golden years!!!!!! Highly recommend for acupuncture and other treatments. We have a great deal of confidence in their handling of our pet family member and we would highly recommend them for care of any animal!! I have been a client of this practice for over 20 years. The service, and overall abusive behavior by Dr. Becket and his staff is so unkind to owners and pets in time of need. Dr. Becket and Dr. Macintosh neglected my horse and did not provide any standard of care. I called them yesterday for a equine emergency. Their lackluster attitude and rude behavior is unprofessional and proved deadly as my animal died yesterday. Dr. Macintosh came to the farm, drew blood, and completed a quick exam leaving her plastic exam gloves from rectal exam in the field where other horses were. She said she was going back to the lab, run the blood and call me in a hour, leaving a gasping for air horse with a 105 temperature. As I waited for her call, i called the practice to inquire when she was coming back and the results of the blood work, the staff notified me that Dr. Macintosh had gone on other farm calls. I was upset because it was clear that my horse had a alergeric reaction and she had done nothing in the precious time we had left. I panicked and called Dr. Becket who was rude, abusive and told me never to call them again. Dr. Macintosh finally did call back but my horse had died after crashing to the ground in anaphylactic shock. This practice is so unkind, disorganized, rude. read more

Clearly this vet office is upset about our honest review. The expression that I was uncomfortable with our dog being fixed is in no way slander. Ask any lawyer- its just an opinion based on reasonable interpretation of the way we were treated. I contacted the office manager to ask that she remove our last name in their response below and she said that we had contracted away our right to confidentiality because we used the FOA voucher. I called FOA and they said this wasn't true at all, and that the vet should not be treating FOA clients and regular clients any differently (refuting her assertion that the clinic did not treat us any differently). Also, the state veterinary board says that every vet and staff owes a duty of confidentiality to both patients and owners. You cant contract away that right. (They removed our last name after speaking with us, despite telling me they wouldn't. Thank you for that.) In response to my reasonable request, I was told by the practice manager that I was only a second year law student so I didnt know what I was talking about (I'm top of my class- and I know enough about confidentiality to know it was a duty owed and breached), and that she had looked up a video on youtube that she presumed I had posted, "to see the type of person we were dealing with," and had contacted a person I had supposedly referenced in the video, to instigate. This vet office contacted a third party to instigate a legal claim against me, and I have no idea what video they are talking about, because I never posted a video reviewing the place she called! Thats count #2 of confidentiality breach, by giving my personal client info to a third party! By its response to this review, vindictively calling an uninvolved third party, (and lack of a follow up phone call to check on Foxy, which any great vet does after a dog's invasive surgery), Beckett is clearly not professional at all. I had no idea they would go to these lengths to lash out b/c of a bad review. We went to Beckett b/c they had great reviews, 5 stars- unfortunately, they clearly only treat clients who pay full price with 5-star service. Oh and its convenient that the person above me commented on their positive experience w/ FOA + Beckett as soon as I posted this- someone from their office clearly posted that and had associates like the comment. And the "not helpful" on mine are clearly from them as well. So transparent. Also proves what I said- the girl said she was willing to pay more for the pain meds because she cared about her dog- insinuating that people who don't want to pay full price don't care? read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Beckett & Associates. After a harrowing ordeal at another local "emergency" vet, where I was shown no compassion or urgency for my dog's situation, I called Beckett and was seen the same day with her. Not only did they fit me into their busy schedule, they treated me and my puppy with compassion and kindness. I will refer people to this vet every single day. They are about a 40 minute drive for me now that I've moved, and I will make the trip gladly, knowing that my pets are cared for and given the love and compassion that they deserve. Highway Robbery! My family has brought all of their dogs to Dr. Beckett for almost 30 years. Recently rescued an older dog and brought her to Dr. Beckett to get checked out, shots, full exam, etc. the bills ran up into the thousands. We expected this based on what we knew the condition of her previous home and her age. He even charged us for expired vaccination, instead of giving it to us for free or giving us non expired vaccination. apparently, expired vaccinations still work, just not as effective. 3 months later, she collapsed, and died in a nearby vet as Dr. Beckett was closed. We were told the dog's cancer spread, as if we should've known from our vet the dog had cancer. In addition to being devastated in losing a new addition to our family, we were upset, to say the least, that we weren't told about the cancer. If we knew, would we have spent thousands of dollars for several surgeries, expensive prescriptions, check ups, vaccinations, etc? Despite being our family vet for nearly 30 years, we will drive far and wide to find an honest Vet. Go visit Dr. Beckett if you have a lot of money you want to waste and pad his wallet while he runs for town counsel chairman. If he does this to his customers, what will he do when he's in charge of our tax dollars? read more

I couldn't find anyone to come to our house to help guide us in end of life care for our dog, Maia. But, finally we found Chip Beckett. He let us know what we could expect, gave her acupuncture treatment that greatly relieved my her discomfort. A few weeks later, it was suddenly time. I called scared and crying, they made immediate room for me, and stayed late for us. Dr. Beckett suggested we euthanize her comfortably right in our car as to not to cause her any further fear or discomfort carrying her 85 lbs into the office. She drifted off to the rainbow bridge in the warmth of the sun on her face and with snuggles from us. I will be eternally grateful to all. The follow up correspondence and donation in Maia's name will never forgotten. Highly recommended. read more

Recently moved to Glastonbury and took my cat to Beckett; first visit was with the female vet who was ok but more interested in talking about horses; 2nd visit was a teeth cleaning and it was a reasonably good experience, very expensive. Third visit was with Dr. Beckett and I didn't think he had any bedside manner; actually he broached a bit of rudeness when I asked questions. 48 hours after the visit my cat became very ill (received a vaccine and I now wonder about this place - see other review about expired vaccines. I'd rather drive back to Avon to see a trust worthy vet who isn't bothered by questions. read more

I purchased a friends of animals certificate to spay my cat. I chose this vet office because they're one of only a couple in the area who accept the certificate and they were recommended to me by a friend who did an externship with them while attending MCC. Everyone Was very kind both with scheduling the appointment and when I went to drop my cat off. The receptionists were great as well as the vet tech I interacted with..they gave me a time to pick up my cat and when they saw that I was anxious to have her home they offered to call me if the veterinarian felt it was safe for her to go home a bit earlier which I appreciated. When I went to pick her up they brought her out to me and she looked good, they explained aftercare and were once again very kind. A few days after her surgery something looked odd about her incision but I wasn't sure if it was just because skin glue was used instead of external stitches and I was just less familiar with that or if something was actually wrong. I gave them a call and the vet I spoke with explained she couldn't diagnose over the phone (makes sense) but said I could quickly email her some pictures and she could try to give advise (it was just about closing time). I did so and was told that if I felt something wasn't right to bring my cat to an emergency vet to see. When I arrived at the after hours vet they did an exam and X-rays and found my cat had a infection which required surgery that night..that vet also commented that they hadn't seen a slay done like this (not sure what they meant exactly). After that surgery my cat healed up fine. I just wish that when I called the vet I spoke with had given me a little more info...not a diagnosis but maybe a list of what's normal and what's not. I also would've appreciated a follow up phone call to see how the cat was doing after they knew something was wrong. This was my only experience here and while the people were friendly it upsets me that my cat had this issue which caused her pain and discomfort and forced me to spend 500+ to fix..after using a voucher meant to save money on this routine procedure. I'll keep my rating neutral because things just go wrong sometimes and I can't say with 100% certainty that my cats issue wouldn't have happened if I had brought her somewhere else but I don't think I'll be coming back here. read more

My mother had gone to see Dr. becketts office with her dog and will never go back. Dr. Beckett was very rude and treated her very poorly. Having a good bed side manner is not as important as if they are a good vet, Dr. Beckett is mediocre. He was very rough in handling our dog and just didn't seem like he likes what he does. It really is a shame because they do offer great services but when you love your pets as much as your children you dont want someone to not be good to them. Hopefully Dr. Beckett can stop being rude and realize his business counts on customers and you dont get those by treating people or animals poorly. read more

I am a former client of Beckett and Associates and will never step foot in their facility again. I took my animals to him faithfully for over 25 years. And I recommended him to a lot of people who were in need of a Veterinarian. I don't know what has happened to him or his practice over the past few years but I would stay away from this place if you don't have an endless amount of disposable income to give him. Maybe the bad economy is making it hard for him to stay in the lifestyle he has grown accustomed to, but he is out for the money and he and his staff will squeeze every penny they can get from you. And if you question any of their fees or procedures you are treated as if you are not a good pet owner by the entire staff. It is a sales environment and their jobs are to up-sell. If you feel like you are getting a shake down every time you leave there it's not your imagination, you are!! I adore my pets and will do anything for them but when I am made to feel like a bad person for questioning his practices it's time to find a new vet. read more
