We also had a hot coffee and bacon, egg, and cheese wrap. There were only 2-3 other people in the store and the service was extremely slow. I can't count the number of times I've enjoyed sitting outside their establishment with friends after a bike ride. I love how they offer several vegan options and their a ai bowl is delicious. I've purchased their lattes quite often and I'm now bringing their roasted coffee home to enjoy any time. It's a run of the mill average cafe. They roast their own coffee but it doesn't make sense because it's very average. Seating is very limited because they decided the roaster should go up front and take up 3 tables space worth. Ordered the Dark roast, it shockingly had no body. Service time running a tad long is true here. 4 minutes isn't too long but a cup of coffee should be up and ready right away unless you tell them it's a pour over. At least they have mugs. read more

Was craving a delicious latte from a non-chain coffee shop. This place was rated well on Yelp so I jumped in my car and made the drive. Was so confused when I pulled up to a coffee shop that had lost its love. The exterior (and interior) were badly maintained. Outdoor seating was tossed around black iron furniture that was as inviting as the employees on the inside. I walked in to no greeting, just two blank stares that waited for me to make a choice. The menu was uninspired -- no seasonal drinks, things they were known for, or really any personality on the menu at all. A list of simple drinks you could make with espresso. They had food on the menu, and a few very basic pastries (that looked purchased, not made, which is not a slight - just an observation) in a tiny case. It didn't feel homey, welcoming, or that there was an ounce of love running this place. It was also completely empty, which I found odd for a coffee shop with seating on a mild Sunday afternoon. The latte I got proved to me why. I got a large latte but only a single shot was pulled (and not well). The frothed milk was dumped into the cup and I was given an underwhelming drink that was like drinking warm milk with the smallest hint of the flavor shot I got. No taste of espresso to be found, but was I surprised with getting a single, short-pulled shot? For $6, this was not worth it, and I'm very surprised by the ratings on Yelp for this place. Would not return unless this place gets pumped with some serious love again... yikes. read more

Cute family owned coffee shop with friendly staff. Located in a nice shopping center with lots of parking. Limited indoor seating but there are tables outside on the side of the building if the weather is nice. Roast has great house brewed coffee made with coffee beans from around the world that are roasted on site. Breakfast items offered as well from danishes to cinnamon buns to breakfast sandwiches. Cute little coffee shop, kind of hard to find unless you use GPS or are from the area, as it is tucked in between a restaurant and liquor store in a shopping center. They have very reasonable prices and delicious coffee. I believe they sell their coffee to a local shop near me as well, which is cool. Small business supporting small business. Had a bunch of options and flavors, as well as holiday special flavors. I got an iced coffee and my wife went with a gingerbread coffee, both were great. Such a disappointment, this place. Slow, slow service, like they never took an order before. When I came in, no one was at the counter as they toiled in the back, without a greeting or indication they saw me. That continued for several minutes. Bad first impression, for sure. Then when taking my order, it seemed like she was writing a novel on the computer, tapping away for a minute or so. What the heck? And getting the drinks took a very long time - at least another 5 minutes. (I know, it's really hard to pour coffee into a cup.) The coffee itself was just mediocre. I got the dark roast but it tasted watered down. For $3.15 I expected something better tasting. Other beefs: They charge a full $1 for a splash of oat milk in your drink? Really!? That's gouging, pure and simple. No justification. One plus: the coffee cake was very good. I can't see any reason to ever come back here. read more

Stopped in for a decaf latte. The one I got was delicious! The woman behind the counter was very nice and didn't try to rush me while I studied the menu. My only quibble was that the music was too loud and I had to ask her to repeat herself a couple of times. How can a coffee shop be open for 6+ years and have no idea how to pull an espresso shot? The espresso in the latte I ordered (and in the cortado my boyfriend ordered) were so badly underextracted that they barely tasted like coffee at all. I couldn't event tell you anything about the characteristics of the beans because I couldn't taste them. The milk was steamed very poorly, too. It was basically a unevenly and barely-foamed liquid. It seems to me that their appeal is on flavored cutesy drinks. That's fine if that's what you're after. But what a waste of a nice Diedrich roaster. read more

There's nothing like a good cozy coffee shop in the area. I live in North Jersey but was visiting family in South Jersey. I knew I had to find a Good coffee shop to sit in that's not the mainstream coffee places. Found this gem on Yelp. It's a cute, small coffee shop in a plaza. There isn't a lot Of seating so I'm not sure if it gets packed. The staff was friendly and the coffee was good. They have alternative milk options. I had an almond milk cappuccino which was good. The strength of the coffee was excellent. They also have sandwiches and açaí bowls. I had a grilled ham and cheese and it tasted just like mom used to make. The only thing is that because the place is so small it does get Smokey from the cooking. Nonetheless good place to go for convo or a book. read more

Every time i'm in NJ, I make sure to stop at Roast!! Absolutely love this coffee shop and for the area, I think it's one of the best.

Maybe an off day (Saturday afternoon)? Followed the reviews to this coffee shop and it just did not deliver. I LOVE local -especially local coffee shops (Harvest, Revolution, Evermore, Calm Waters, Common Ground, etc). I typically frequent Harvest a few miles away when in this area, but was looking for another place with a little more seating. My wife and I ordered a cappuccino and a latte, respectively. The cappuccino was bland with way too much milk and a thin, over-aerated foam (see pic) and the latte mostly tasted burnt according to my wife. We didn't try any food. The other reviews suggest the place is good, and it really does seem nice with really friendly service, so may have to try again. read more

After ordering, we waited 30 minutes before we got our two coffees and that was after we had to ask for it, and every other customer (even those who came in 15 minutes after us) in the store received their orders. The employees were not polite to us and blamed us for our drinks not getting made. Once we finally got our drinks we were even more disappointed that the coffees were 95% milk. Good coffee, great ambiance. My latte was rich a creamy with just enough of the coffee notes coming through. The place is small and intimate (and clean). There's outdoor seating - perfect for a sunny day - but it was raining during our visit. The menu has something for everyone. It's in a strip mall that looks abandoned, but don't let that put you off. Also, for a Sunday, you can't beat the hours. I'd rather support local and I'd never heard of Roast Coffee Co. until today. I've been trying a bunch of different cold brew places in South Jersey and Roast is great! It's not overly bitter, but not ultra sweet like... well... we all know the big chain coffee shops we're thinking of. I've mobile ordered every time and when I come around to pick up, they've been following all the COVID best practices from physical distancing, masking up, and minimizing indoor seating to provide more distancing. There are some tables + chairs + benches outside too I've noticed. I docked a star because I noticed some of the drinks I'd want to try (Dirty Chai or Nitro Cold Brew) are not available from the online ordering platform and some of the customizations you'd expect (like type of tea for Iced Tea or sweetener) aren't available. But this is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. If you're a Cold Brew fan as I am, I think you'd like Roast's! read more

I give this place a one star. Their food was okay but i ordered a croissant with ham & cheese and it was also supposed to come with tomato & lettuce & onion. We waited 20 minutes for this order to come out and the first time it did, it was wrong. I sent it back and got another and still got the wrong thing. I'm a coffee snob. They have good coffee beans, nice selection. The food selection isn't big, but its enough for me and my wife to order breakfast from there once in a while on the weekend. I always get an egg, cheese and bacon sandwich, and she gets an acai smoothie bowl, which she enjoys very much. We typically order through their app and it's ready 15 minutes later. The space is small, just a few tables inside. There is often Grateful Dead playing in there, which is good by me. They have some outside tables which are nice in the warm weather. read more

The people are extremely friendly!!! The reason I come back is mostly because I find their enthusiasm refreshing. Overall coffee is ok. They need a better milk alternative and I would probably enjoy it more. For example almond in my opinion is watery apposed to oat or soy which is creamy. So just changing that alone would improve my coffee quality experience. I have never had a smoothie bowl until now so I can't speak on taste and quality but I enjoyed it and would like to try it again. The bagels they have are entirely too hard for me to eat thus being inedible. I have been to many coffee establishments so based on the coffee alone it's wasn't the best place but given it's location and convenience to me I might pop in once more. read more

Saw this place in a NJ magazine and had to stop in considering it's close to home and little coffee shops are my thing. The coffee shop is located in a shopping center so there is ample parking for you to use. When I walked in it was smaller than I expected, but cutely set up with tables and chairs so you can relax and enjoy your coffee or do some work. My friend and I took some time to sit down enjoy our coffee and talk. I got the cold brew with SF hazelnut and a little milk. The coffee was so good, it didn't need any sweeteners, it was smooth and delicious on its own. My friend got a regular coffee, and she is normally not a black coffee drinker but kept this black because the coffee was so well made. What really sets this place apart from the rest is there's art from recycled coffee bags all over the walls, that are for sale from local vendors. I thought this was amazing, they are supporting other locals as well as the art was super cute! The menu offers the typically coffee shop items, plus some sandwiches, pastries and açaí smoothie bowls. I'll definitely be back to get some more of the cold brew and try other items.
