Rob photographed our City Hall wedding last year as well as the wedding for family and friends this summer at Canal Street Eatery, and both times he was amazing! We love Rob's documentary-style approach to capturing all the big and little moments. The photos from both days are so lively and dynamic and candid, with the low-light dance floor photos easily being some of our favorite. He is also easy to work with -- easygoing but super responsive, has a plan but also great on-the-fly. Hiring Rob as our photographer was one of our best wedding planning decisions. He's very friendly, professional, prompt, and his work is excellent. He also charges less than other photographers of his caliber, so we didn't have to sacrifice quality to stay within our budget. We first did engagement photos with Rob and it was a great experience. We had to reschedule our first appointment because it was a cold and rainy day, and he was very accommodating. Of course, our rescheduled date ended up being the hottest and most humid day of the summer, but he powered through and we got amazing shots by Montrose Harbor and the Bird Sanctuary. Rob was very flexible on our wedding day. At the last minute I changed my mind about where I wanted him to first meet us, and he said it was fine and to let him know if I changed my mind again. Trying to get photos with all the relatives that requested them was a bit of a chore, but Rob was a champ about it. Right after our ceremony, Rob pulled us away to get some couples shots at different places in the venue and on the street. It was one of the best parts of the day - I got to spend time with my groom away from the party and Rob took such amazing photos of us during our newlywed bliss high. His creativity in setting up shots and his direction in posing is top notch. I'm not very comfortable in front of a camera but Rob puts you at ease and he can capture great photos of anyone, even a generally awkward and not photogenic person like myself. About 2 weeks after the ceremony, Rob had a website of all our photos set up. He posted hundreds and covered every base - the room set up before the ceremony, all the important ceremony moments, our post ceremony shoot, dances, guest portraits, family group shots, and great action shots from the dance floor. Rob captured all of this without being obtrusive. Most of us have been to a wedding where a photographer spoils moments by being rude or overly conspicuous in pursuit of a shot. Rob is not that guy. He's got a great sense of humor and he finds ways to get great photos without getting in the way. And soon after the site was up, he mailed us a flash drive with all the photos. We really appreciate the option to either order the prints through the site or print them where we want. Thanks again Rob! read more

Rob Karlic first and foremost is one of a kind. Recommended to us by our DJ Rachel Hinsdale (of Toast and Jam) we couldn't be happier with our choice! Rob is a rock n roll photographer turned wedding entrepreneur--so if you're looking for that unique eye, that little bit of edge, that off the beaten track quality to your photos, then Rob's your guy. This is not to say that he is not qualified to do or capable of doing traditional wedding photography. He shot family and table portraits and attacked the documenting of our wedding ceremony and party with fervor! At several points in the party guests approached me to comment on how hard our photographer was working, and remarkably more than one guest made the same remark: "He's everywhere at once!" It's simply to say that Rob is more than your typical wedding photographer. He brings a natural talent for capturing light, candid moments, and those vivid flashes of party-fun to the table. Perhaps some of this talent stems from his genuine interest in the subjects he photographs. He was so fun to work with; he had everyone laughing and enjoying themselves but at the same time stayed firm and professional when it came to timeline--which you may not think is that important but when your wedding is flying by you'll learn how important a factor this becomes! We shot an 'engagement sitting' together at the historic Music Box Theater to get to know each other and the photos were marvelous and like Rob, one of a kind. And Rob offered us a hell of a deal to boot. He sent us a high resolution disc of all of our images and helped us to determine the best and most cost effective way to order prints and assemble an album (as this is often the priciest aspect of wedding photography packages at large studios). Rob shot our May 2016 wedding and we were so lucky to have him! The photos on his website speak for themselves. Beautiful shots that make us feel like we were back at that great day every time we see them. The composed shots are amazing, but my favorites are all the candids he shot of us and our friends and family. They're so honest and so true. Plus, as someone else mentioned, he so laid back and unobtrusive, when I look at some of the shots he got, I remember the moment, but I can't believe he was there to catch it! Amazing! He's so talented and such a steal, but my favorite part of working with him was his communication! Very responsive in correspondence, and always the first to suggest meeting up. I highly recommend Rob Karlic wedding photography. Rob has a great eye and pays close attention to detail. We wanted photos (got both engagment and wedding) that were a little more fun and spontaneous and Rob had great suggestions and was also really open and excited about ideas we had. Rob was polite and easy to work with. He also wrangled us a few times during the reception to get husband-wife shots. The night goes by so fast, and I'm very glad he was thoughtful enough to get photographs of us throughout the night. Rob was recommended to me through a friend to photograph our wedding and I couldn't be happier. The other photographers in our top 3 were significantly more expensive so we were a little skeptical at first thinking that there must be some kind of catch. When we went to meet with him, it turned out that my wife went to high school with him (though not close friends) so the "interview" was kind of casual. We were worried that the personal relationship would cloud our judgment so we had 5 objective friends review our top 3 choices and when 4 of them picked Rob with the 5th person putting him at second place. So our choice was made. Anyway, we had a small-ish wedding with about 100 guests and only a best man and maid of honor for our wedding party. Rob's greatest strength was in capturing some of the candids and making us feel at ease for the posed family shots. My wife and I really don't like photos of ourselves so we are not easy to please but Rob got some great shots of us and moments that went by in the blink of an eye are captured forever. And another great thing about Rob is that he doesn't try to high pressure you into buying overpriced prints and books like some of the other photographers. He's quick to get you your images and you can buy what you want without the pressure. I would highly recommend Rob to anyone. read more
