Unfortunately I have never received such a horrible haircut in my life and I'm still coming to terms with it. My hair is so thinned out and I've never had thin hair in my life. Not to mention the haircut itself is uneven and botched. I came here because I saw all the good reviews and I'm in awe that I had such a horrible experience. I had Lucious thick hair when I first came and I've left with half of it gone. You can see the ends of hair look like straw now. All I asked was for two inches off and long layers and I left with curtain bangs (which I said specifically no to) and thinned ends. ORO NY Brooklyn is the newly opened Williamsburg location for ORO NY (other location is in the East Village!). Conveniently located further along the L, it's just a couple of stops away across the water. As of this review, it's been open for about a month. The interior is bright, clean and spacious! The salon is also just a couple of blocks from Napoli Bakery. Glad to know I can get my local bread fix at either ORO location. I scheduled an appointment with Yuya for a bang cut and bleach retouch, which was pretty easy to do via DM on Instagram (@oro_ny_brooklyn). I've gone to Yuya before (see my other review of the East Village location) for coloring and definitely trust him with my hair. He let me know ahead of time that he was behind schedule since another client before me was a bit late. Regardless, it was very comfortable to sit and wait in the salon, or wander around the neighborhood. Despite running late, Yuya took the time to work on my hair like usual, even when the client after me arrived midway through my appointment. At no point did I feel like he was rushing or cutting corners to finish earlier. For my two tone style, I wanted to try a purple/silver mix this time around. We touched up my roots, and Yuya also used a gentle, diluted bleach to lighten my yellow-blonde mids before going in with the dye. We were able to achieve the purple/silver melt, although because of an old balayage (pre-Yuya by the way), this left the mids/ends more silver, with more purple roots! I think the color mix came through very well, although Yuya offered to change it if I felt displeased and wanted more purple. Upon asking, he also recommended some products for color maintenance. I really can't praise this salon and Yuya enough! I think this will be my go-to salon for all of my hair needs from now on. I had a walk in haircut from Yuya just yesterday! I was in a bit of a last minute rush to get a haircut that I needed before an upcoming trip and event. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find a salon that would accept walk ins, let alone one who would provide a great haircut. Luckily I made the right decision to call Oro and spoke to Yuya who graciously accepted my walk in request! The salon looked very clean and I felt very comfortable and welcomed! Yuya was very attentive to my requests and gave me exactly what I wanted which was long layers/butterfly cut! He even very accommodating to the fact that I had to rush out soon so he very swiftly finished up my cut while also making sure it looked perfect! I got my hair cut and colored red and I'm so happy with the results! Yuya is exceptionally skilled and talented at what he does. I had virgin black hair so I was nervous to bleach it, but it still feels soft and the color is just as I requested. The staff are very professional as well as friendly.
