Even if they couldn't write me a policy, I at least wanted to discuss what my options were. Get some clarity on the very confusing insurance process you know? First I couldn't get through to anyone when I called. The receptionist or person who answered sent me to quotes dept like 5 times and no one would answer. They blamed it on "high volume" of customers or whatever. But how do you not have a process to respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner? I can't wait 2 weeks to get a damn quote. I'll just go somewhere else. The person in quotes dept Sheryl was rude and had terrible customer service. She made up excuses about why they couldn't get back to me in time. I filled out their form online explaining what I wanted in my policy and a little of my situation. First I got this rude email (I think she wrote it) telling me they didn't want to talk to me and couldn't write me a policy. The email was short with very little explanation why. Then when I called AGAIN for the 6th time to finally get SOMEONE to talk to me, Sheryl rudely just refused to talk or listen to me, kept repeating over and over how they couldn't write me a policy and basically told me to go away. No solutions, no help, no suggestions on how to fix my situation. Look if you can't write me a policy, fine. I get it. But don't leave a customer twisting in the wind. At least take the time to answer my questions and give me suggestions on where I CAN get help. It's basic decency and politeness. Be warned everyone! Customer service at this place has gone very downhill recently. You're better off going elsewhere!

I went to Mexico and had my luggage stolen at the airport. I filed a police report there, this was in February. I never got paid. They fraudulently said the report was a plea bargain when it says clearly on the first line it is about the theft of luggage at the airport. I went back and forth many times, and they just added more hoops for me to go through. It still is in limbo this April.

Unbelievably, in 2025 this process cannot be accomplished online, but requires paper forms which must be mailed to a post office box in Boston. When contacting "Customer Service," calls are sent to an overseas call center where the representatives seems to specialize in saying, "I apologize," and "All I can do is send an e-mail message to (insert department name)." It really is quite ridiculous that this company seems to be so technologically behind the times and more focused on making excuses than actually providing service. I would never even consider doing business with John Hancock again.
