I have had a lot of Dental work done in the past 60 years, and I hate going to the Dentist, especially for the extraction of a over due hollow tooth. I have been hurt, I have been dissatisfied with results, I have been to 2 other local Dentists since We moved to the hill country. Then the extraction, it went off without a hitch, I had actually put this off for 6 months, and it was over, almost painlessly, better than I had hoped, and for less than the original quote. For over a year now I've been dealing with a lose crown and my general dentist advised that I should get a bridge or an implant, which scared me to death! I have a terrible fear of the dentist chair! After having a great experience having my wisdom teeth removed several years ago by Dr. Russell Cunningham, I decided to make an appointment with him to see what he would recommend. He agreed and thought the implant would be the best bet. I was very surprised how reasonable the quote was as well. I scheduled the surgery for 2 weeks later. Just as the other post on yelp have said, he is so gentle and sincere. He looks you in the eyes and understands your fears and concerns. I walked in nervous, told him that I was very scared and he sweetly started talking about a mutual friend to take my mind off of the surgery while I gently fell asleep. I woke up in recovery as he stood over me asking how I was feeling. Told me that I could stay as long as I would like because I had told him that I was nervous about waking up and panicking. Dr. Cunningham and his staff are miracle workers. As a result of a motor vehicle accident I had several years ago, I have been only able to open my mouth less than 6mm. Dr. Cunningham and his practice served as an advocate throughout the insurance approval process and kept me informed throughout the complex medical review and approval. He also recommended the best advanced prosthodontic dentist in this area to add to my care team. The complicated surgery was a successful repair of the area surrounding TMJ implants. Throughout my recovery, Dr. Cunningham made himself readily available if I had any questions. On every visit to his office, each person on his staff was friendly, professional, and expressed genuine concern about my well being and recovery. Subsequent to the jaw repair, he also implanted anchoring screws in my upper jaw that is enabling me to have the full upper bridge replacement that has completely changed my quality of life. Dr. Russell Cunningham and his staff are a rare find! My daughter had a "complicated" wisdom teeth extraction according to dentists from Beverly Hills, CA to New York that no one wanted to take on when coupled with a bleeding disorder and chronic Lyme disease. It was such a relief to meet with Dr. Cunningham and be immediately assured, and have all worries put to rest. The surgery went incredibly well with minimal recovery time. My daughter and I have both been absolutely impressed by him, as well as his wonderful office staff. His office will get you in and out on time with hardly any waiting time at all, and work with your insurance to get you the lowest prices possible. We live in San Antonio, and are happy to make the drive up to Lakeway (2 hrs drive) to see Dr. Cunningham for any dental issues that arise! Had to find a someone today to take a tooth out, My regular dentist office referred me to the Austin oral & Maxillofacial location off Hymeadow however I live outside of Marble Falls. No one in Marble Falls could get to me until October. I absolutley hate dentist and was not lookinng forward to seeing someone I have not seen before. The Good Lord must have been watching over me. Dr. Cunninghams office could ge me in at 12:30 and my husband had to drive me or I would not have gone. But was in too much pain to object the last 3 days. Come to find out Dr. Cunninghams assistant is from Marble Falls area too and made be feel really comfortable. The Dr, took one look at the xrays and said lets get that tooth out of there right now. I think he must have know I may not come back if he waited. With in 45 minutes I was in and out. Tonight I am pain free and doing great. I would recommend Dr. Cunningham to everyone. I had surgery to have my wisdom teeth removed last week, and leading up to the appointment I was very scared. I had read horrible stories about complicated surgeries, and I have always had a low pain tolerance when it comes to my mouth and teeth. I went into his office, and was crying like a baby haha, but I was seriously so nervous to be put under. Russell came in and was very caring and sweet and so were all of the nurses and assistants. They put a heated blanket over me and that may have been the most amazing part because I was freezing in there! Anyways, The IV was put in and the next thing I knew it was over. They all were really so sweet and caring, I feel really lucky that I had such a good experience with this. Recovery sucked though! haha. But that was expected. Went in today for my follow up and received the same great service. I would recommend Russell Cunningham to everyone I know. read more

I had a molar pulled yesterday. The last one I had pulled was a terrible experience, so I have suffered much pain and have only been able to chew on one side for several years. Fear is a terrible thing, but it got so bad that I had to have something done. The dentist in Bee Caves referred me to an oral surgeon in Pflugerville to have it pulled under anesthesia at a cost of almost $2,200. Wow. Couldn't justify that cost so considered doing it without. Dropped by an oral surgeon in Marble Falls that I've used before. They were fantastic. Told them I was shopping for price and they didn't hold it against me. Lol. Dr. Cunningham at Austin Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery on Fm 1431. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. He removed the tooth yesterday. No pain, no swelling and it was affordable. I chose Dr.Cunningham to remove my son's wisdom teeth, even though he was out of network, because I heard so many amazing things from friends who had used him with their teens. They were right! My son has multiple drug allergies, and my husband and father-in-law have adverse reactions to anesthesia. I was very concerned that my son would have the same and we would end up at the hospital. Dr. Cunningham listened to my concerns and proceeded cautiously with drug administration, putting both myself and my teenager at ease. Moreover, my son was up and moving well within 24 hours. He experienced very little pain and was eating regular food, although gingerly, by the second day! I highly recommend this oral surgeon and plan to return with my daughter when her wisdom teeth need to come out! By the way, the staff was also wonderful! read more

I can't say enough about Dr. Cunningham and his staff. I went in and had a tooth extracted from one side of my mouth as well as a bone graph and on the other side had a sinus lift, bone graft and an implant. Within five minutes of being in the surgical room, Dr. Cunningham and his staff worked so efficiently as a team that I was sedated within five minutes. Within an hour of the procedure, I was home. Once the numbness wore, with the exception of a missing tooth and feeling a few stitches, I never felt as if I've had any work done at all. No pain, no discomfort not even a bruise from where the IV needle had been inserted. I've had numerous oral surgeries in the past from other doctors but from this point on, I will always go back to Dr. Cunningham! read more

I went to Dr. Cunningham's Dripping Springs office location. His facility is beautiful and comfortable. From the moment I arrived, I was met by professional, cheerful, helpful staff. I was taken to an exam room right on time and Dr. Cunningham came in shortly after. I was so worried that I might have a cancerous place in my mouth, but he assured me I just had a bony protrusion in my gum. He was able to extract the bone with absolutely no pain to me, and he told me to let him know if any other fragments appeared. So far, so good. Dr. Cunningham is a kind, gentle and friendly. I went in for a consultation with Dr. Russell Cunningham, set up by my Dentist, on January 2nd...He took plenty of time with me answered all of my questions, and gave me some options on treatment...I filled prescriptions for meds for use the night before surgery, and after...We scheduled Oral Surgery on Jan 27th...Went in and procedure began exactly on time...Absolutely painless...Came in for one week follow up this AM...Dr. Cunningham, he says "call me Russell", released me and do not have to come back...All in his office, from front desk, to the nurses and Dental techs, are all very professional, polite, and good at what they do....I recommend "Russell" to anyone needing an Oral Surgeon... read more

My 5 year old son had to undergo a minor oral procedure and Dr. Cunningham and his staff were wonderful! They are excellent with children - the entire staff made my son feel comfortable and at ease. They had him laughing before and after the procedure. Dr. Cunningham was professional in his demeanor with me and appropriately silly with my son! The procedure was quick and we had no problems post-procedure. A little nervous at 65 years old to have to go to an oral surgeon, but I never should have worried. Dr. Cunningham made certain I felt no pain, not even a needle prick, and my treatment was outstanding. He was thorough in his explanation of treatment, and post-surgery was a piece of cake.
