Went today and saw Dr Sarah Caroll and was very happy with my experience. Got water plugged in an ear after a fun boat outing and have been dealing with pain for about 3 weeks, needed it drained. Not the first time I had this procedure done and was nervous to pick a new location bc I know how painful it could be. Recently got new insurance and once I uploaded my info they called to let me know they didn't take it :( asked about the pricing for this procedure and thought it was worth just paying to go somewhere that would take care of me so went anyway and I'm glad I did. Dr. Caroll did a great job and I felt no pain and had the pressure/plug alleviated immediately. Went to Dr. Jacobs today for the first time. My significant other doesn't have insurance and it's one of the few places that will take patients that is by cash/card basis. To begin super reasonably priced! Dr. Jacobs has amazing bedside manor and explained everything before he did it. My significant other has very sensitive ears and had a traumatic experience as a child that makes it even worse. We had gone to the urgent care three times to try and have the ear wax removed from his very impacted ears, but no success so finally after months of convincing we finally made an appointment with a specialist. Dr. Jacobs has a lot of tools to extract ear wax but he has the experience and bedside manor to make it a GREAT experience. Minimal pain and finally he can hear! I visited the Dr. because of a problem with my ear. The doctor doesn't care about the patient at all. He didn't try to find out the root causes of my symptoms. He looked at my ears, then mouth and concluded something. Because my ear was till bothering me I went to another doctor and I found out that I have an ear infection! He just neglected me as a patient. So if you want good care this doctor is not the one for you. read more

Would not recommend. Went here thinking i would get the help and answer I needed. I was given high dose Prednisone tapering, it made me more sick when i started the treatment. Called him several times to let him know how i felt much worst and i was told i might or might not get better within 2-3 months time???? and to follow up it did made me feel better or not??? went to see another associate there for 2nd opinion. read more

I am proud to say that Dr. Jacobs and his staff were not only amazing but complete life-saving angels. My breathing condition and my nose was so bad I woke up 10 to 20 times a night and had no relief from sinus swelling and pressure. Nobody I talked to Could pinpoint what exactly it was, orwhat to treat it with. Dr. Jacobs assessed my condition, was quick to diagnose, followed by a speedy surgery. Dr. Jacobs is the best ENT Specialist in San Diego! Dr. Jacobs successfully diagnosed the source of my throat cancer (7 years ago+) by going through a painful (but necessary) procedure he was able to find it (the source) which was physically showing as a lump on side of my throat but the Source was actually on back of my tongue). He worked with my fantastic oncologist (Dr. Eva Lean) to set up the correct treatment to destroy the horrible carcinoma cell cancer with Chemo and Radiation and in just a few months I was 100% Cancer Free!! So do not hesitate. If you feel anything is wrong-book an appointment and get the best man on your ENT situation as he will prove to be a most valuable person in your road back to full health! His Staff is also very friendly and makes the visit as good as it gets!! I also thank my wife Irene for making me in October 2006 go to see Dr. Jacobs. Awful experience with Dr. Jacobs. I came from San Clemente to see this doctor because of the good Yelp reviews. He was so rough with my ears that it brought me to tears. After telling him to please not go so deep or stab my ear drum, he said he wouldn't and continued to do so. Almost got up from the chair right there. Left in tears. Will never be back. The only good thing that came from it was he actually was right that there was a scab on my ear drum but his approach was awful. He has a complete lack of bedside manner. read more

Well, looking for an ENT, my husbands ear is impacted with wax. All I am reading about is this Dr. Jacobs. So I call up to make an apt. With him but no openings(Boy, no shock there!) They tell me that there is an opening for his associate Dr. Liu. Haven't read about him. Hmmm. Should I chance it? Yeah well my husband is driving me nuts, I better go for it. Well let me tell u, I am so so very glad we did! This Dr. is a Dr. whom I feel really loves I mean loves his job n we loved him. He is sooo patient. Explained every step before he did anything, and there were many many times my husband was squirming and he would stop to let him calm down. He also let me look at the inside of my husbands ear with the microscope! You could really tell he loved his profession! I think he said he was kind a new there. Well it goes to figure, all that I have read about Dr. Jacobs and now knowing Dr. Liu they are a perfect match. Both caring and patient Drs. You are in good hands with them both I'm sure! read more

I've been in San Diego for ten year and Dr. Jacobs has been my ear doctor all of that time, and I wouldn't consider having any one else to take care of me. He is a skilled doctor and has gotten my chronic ear problem under control and he has been available whenever I needed him. He is so warm and caring that he makes you feel like one of the family. I can't say too much of how wonderful a doctor and person that he is. When he talks to you, you can feel his concern. Dr. Jacobs was assigned to me through my insurance about two months ago. Before this referral, I had been dealing with tonsil stones and was not sure what to do about it. After dealing with so many painful and gross side effects, I decided to see a specialist. I read so many horrific stories about tonsillectomies and recoveries, so naturally I was on the fence about even considering it... until I met Dr. Jacobs. He is so knowledgeable and confident in what he does and that made me comfortable with my decision to have the procedure done. Before the procedure, he clearly explained how everything would happen. My surgery went really well and recovery, well was like any recovery. On day six my scab fell off and I had a large blood clot creating a lot of blood in my mouth. I called Dr. Jacobs (yes, unlike some doctors, he is there when you need him) and he met me in his office to fix the issue. Still calm as ever, he helped me get through this recovery without any ER or hospital visits. I would refer this doctor to anyone. He is definitely one that cares about his patients. read more

I had developed a chronic ear infection and went to see my general practitioner 2-3 times for it. My GP prescribed antibiotics then antifungals but nothing seemed to work. Finally, I was referred to Dr. Jacobs. Dr. Jacobs was kind and helped me to better understand what was causing the infections so that I can prevent them in the future. Without providing too many gross details, let's just say that within seconds of Dr. Jacobs' treatment I began feeling 100 times better. By the next day my paid was completely gone. A couple of weeks ago I developed another ear infection and since I no longer have insurance I went to my GP thinking that Dr. Jacobs may be too expensive. Again, the drops my GP prescribed did not clear up the infection so I decided I would see Dr. Jacobs at any cost (these ear infections are EXTREMELY painful). To my surprise and delight Dr. Jacobs was less expensive than my GP and less than 24 hours later here I am, no pain. As far as I'm concerned Dr. Jacobs is the best in his field. read more

I have had a chronic ear problem for many, many years. After seeing several different doctors with minimal results, Dr. Jacobs diagnosed my condition with much more specificity than anyone else and my preventative visits with him keep me in great shape. He is professional yet personable and is a pleasure to have as a partner in my healthcare. The office staff is great. I can get an appointment easily and I never wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. Pretty much unheard of with every other office I have been in. I know I'm a patient but to them, but I see myself as a customer. Dr. Jacobs and his staff at ENT give the best customer service of any clinic or office I have ever been in. I don't know why other offices can't run as smoothly and be as friendly as this one. I went to see Dr. Jacobs for a series of sudden severe nosebleeds. I called on Friday and was able to get an appointment for Monday. The staff was very pleasant and professional and I only waited a few minutes before seeing Dr. Jacobs. He was very calm, pleasant, and professional. He quickly cauterized the source of the bleed. Dr. Jacobs is a great Dr. and I have only seen him once. After undergoing a very painful procedure (packing) at the ER for a nosebleed my GP referred me to Dr. Jacobs when I was still having intense pain and bleeding after 3 days. They were able to squeeze me in the same day and take care of my problem within an hour. The Dr. told me everything he was going to do. When they took the packing out and I started to bleed again I got really worried but he assured me that he expected that to happen and that he was going to take care of it. He was so gentle and had a great bedside manner. He had to cauterize the vein and I felt absolutely no pain, even when he stuck a needle in my nose to numb it. I was amazed. Even my mother in law who is squeamish stayed in the room for the first part of the procedure and commented on how nice he was and how great he treated me and eased my fears. At one point he touched my nose when I had my eyes closed and I jumped. He apologized and said he should have let me know he was going to do that. I explained that I was sorry for asking so many questions, but after feeling horrible for three days I wanted to make sure I got all the facts. He told me not to worry and that he completely understood after what I had been through in the ER. I would no hesitate to see Dr. Jacobs again! read more
