I was welcomed with lots of love right from check in and then seated with the lovely Luz. She was very kind and asked me about both my hair history and my current wants. I told her what it was I wanted and she assured me I was in good hands. What would normally be a dreadful experience looking at my hair at the mirror turned to be more of a girls hangout where we spent chatting and I left with a haircut I loved.

The only hands on things I was taught was silk wraps for a single day and how to make your own charms with silicone molds. And the singular day we "learned waxing" was taking turns doing a couple strips on eachothers arms and thats it. An INSTRUCTOR (not even a student!) dyed my hair with permanent pitch black dye, way darker than the color I wanted, which covered up some really expensive balayage I'd gotten a few months earlier. She lied and tried to convince me that it would fade over time, that it was just the way my hair took to the semi gloss, etc. Eight weeks later, I went to another salon to for a haircut and they confirmed the truth. My hair had been dyed with an almost black permanent dye. If the adults in the room are this shitty, does it even matter that they're supervising untrained students?

I have an 8-week beginner class for kids, all supplies are included. I can teach up to 3 students at a time, that is all I have room for. Each class is 2 hours and $40. Kids learn how to use the sewing machine, we have Singer Confidence models, they make a pillow, apron, tote with 2 pockets, and a pair of elastic-waist pants. After the 8-week beginner class, the kids can make a dress and learn new sewing skills. For adults, they start with 4 classes and make a pair of elastic-waist pants, then move on to making a dress. Students can keep sewing as long as they are able, some have been coming here for 5 years. We have fashion shows, free learning events, and we are in the Memorial Day Parade. Learn to sew, it's an empowering life time skill. It's lots of fun, too. It has meditative qualities.
