From the moment I contacted Dr. Footer during a very stressful situation with my daughters pregnancy----he answered his phone! YES! Dr, Footer answered his phone and not an answering service. Dr. Footer set our minds at-ease and just as he indicated----everything resolved itself. The delivery of my grandson was nothing short of the best experience ever! Dr. Footer was thorough and patient! He took immaculate cere or my daughter from the moment she was admitted, until discharge day. Dr. Footer NEVER left the hospital. There was no intern treating my daughter either. Dr. Footer's pleasant, calm, kind and professional demeanor was a constant blessing. Dr. Robert Footer has been my OB/GYN for the past 18 years. I cannot say enough about his medical expertise, warm and loving demeanor, and professionalism. They don't make doctors like Dr. Footer anymore- he is truly in a league of his own in how he takes a personalized approach to his patient's healthcare. He takes him time and really listens to you. He may be a good doctor. That's what my friends told me but his wife is quite rude and unprofessional. I had to leave their office because of her attitude and I was supposed to get my blood drawn to check for gestational diabetes. She was insensitive to the fact that I haven't eaten anything and was annoyed that they gave me a wrong fax number which was the reason they didn't they my records from my previous obgyn. I adore this man. Both Dr. Footer and his staff (Tricia is fantastic!) are without a doubt the most lovely and accommodating group of people in the health care industry. I really did hit the medical lottery when I found this practice. I initially was hesitant to see a male OB/GYN but was convinced by a satisfied patient of his to give him a go. The moment I met Dr. Footer, all previous apprehension evaporated. I've since referred him to friends, all of whom shared my initial reaction to seeing a male doctor, but they too were immediately converted and are now huge fans of his as well. The man is a great doctor and a great person. Let's face it: dealing with this side of the ladybusiness is never going to be "fun," but having a good doctor to see and a friendly staff to greet you makes the process a whole lot more bearable. He's the best. Seriously - I was 100% against going to a male doctor but after trying out a couple females and being rushed, blown off with my questions, Dr. Footer was recommended. He's a not part of a big practice, it's just him so you get that consistency and attention that was very important to me. He's thorough, caring, compassionate and his staff is good too. I've had to wait a while to see him a couple times but it's been worth it. Had to go through a really rough experience and he and the staff were very sympathetic, made sure to get me answers as quickly as possible and followed up with me. I agree with some of the review that Dr. Footer is very caring and will answer all of your questions. However, one big caveat. If your insurance offers a "FREE" annual exam, asking any questions will allow him to charge you for an Office Visit which now turns the free exam into a Co-Pay. In the 35+ years that I have been going to gynecologists in the DC area, he is the only practice that has pulled that trick on me. This year was the third time within the last 8 years and I am shopping around again. They don't tell you while you are in the office, they wait and surprise you with a bill. read more

Dr. Robert Footer is my OB-GYN for the past 6-7 years, who also gave birth to my first child at Sibley Hospital in DC. He is one of the best and most caring doctors I've ever experienced with. He is a kindhearted doctor who has been very responsive in accommodating my medical urgencies into his schedule within or outside working hours. I truly appreciate his supportive and positive advises and attitude toward any given medical needs and inquiries I had to this date. I wish I could give him 1000 stars! Dr. Footer is best frikken gyno doctor I have EVER had. In fact, he is the best doctor (in general) I have ever had. (I go to his Rockville (montrose rd.) location) He is extremely nice and patient! I had my annual today and beforehand, his nurse told me that he needs to rush out because one of his patients is 9cm and ready to deliver a baby and would only have time to do my pap and nothing else. You know this man still did my breast exam, took his time doing my pap, was gentle, and just all around fantastic! You couldn't even tell that he needed to rush out. I really wish more doctors in ALL practices were like him. His staff is just as fantastic and nice as he is. I tell you, this practice is a dying breed and I would hate to even think what would happen if he decides to stop practicing. read more

Dr. Footer is a rare find in today's healthcare environment. Unfortunately, they just don't make doctors like this anymore. Growing up as the daughter of an "old-school" physician, I have very high expectations of doctors, not just that they are well-educated, well-qualified etc. but more importantly, that they listen and genuinely care about their patient. Dr. Footer does this and more. He is truly an exceptional physician in so many ways, and I cannot imagine trusting my health to anyone else. I was Dr Footer's patient 25 years ago and he was the kindest, most professional doctor I have ever seen. To this day I benchmark all other doctors against him. Nothing was ever too much and he always put my needs as a patient first. His bedside manner, patience and explanations were second to none. I am no longer in USA but should I ever return, there is no doubt who I would go to. A wonderful, caring person. Had an appointment at 3.15 pm and I arrived at 3.10 pm. Signed up right away and kept waiting since there were 3 people ahead of me. Assistants kept chatting with each other and they were four all together. At 3.40 I asked them when the Doctor gonna see me and then only they realized that I am a new patient. They gave me a form to fill up and I kept waiting. At 4pm Doctor is walking towards the door, looked at me and left. I started hearing ladies whispering in stead of talking about bars as they were before that. I came to them and asked them what is going on. And they told me that the Doctor just left. Sorry...Can you imagine what idiots you need to hire that four women can not even notify a doctor that a patient is waiting and what type of a doctor he has to be if he does not even check with his retarted staff whats going on in his office. I spend 2 hours for that BS, left early from work, $9 for parking and because people that working there do not give a crap about patients I left home. Have never been in such situation before. I was a patient of Dr. Robert Footers from March 2013 to May 2013. I reside in Richmond, VA, but switched to Dr. Footer at 30 weeks gestation because my delivery needed to take place in Washington DC in order for my partner to be able to legally adopt our son. Prior to scheduling an appointment with Dr. Footer, I researched over a dozen doctors in DC along with extensive reviews of both Sibley Memorial Hospital and George Washington Hospital. I quickly realized what mattered most was the relationship with my doctor and I should make my decision based on the doctor not the hospital. When I stumbled across Footer and realized he was not only a solo practitioner, but was also highly rated by prior and current patients, I figured I would call his office to schedule a consultation. Anytime you call his DC office, you are likely to be connected with Trish. She was always very pleasant to speak with and when I explained my circumstances, she was understanding and assured me Dr. Footer would be willing to work with us. At our first appointment with Dr. Footer, he brought my wife and I back to his office and spent well over 30-45 minutes answering any questions or concerns we had. He made it very clear from the beginning that this was "our experience" meaning we dictate everything, he is there to just guide us and ensure a safe and healthy delivery of our baby boy. Whether we chose to have a natural birth, un medicated or medicated, whether we wanted a Doula in the room, whether we chose to circumcise or not circumcise, whether we hoped to schedule our delivery or just wait to go in labor and drive from Richmond to DC, he was on board to support us however we chose we felt most comfortable. He took the time to read our birth plan and he had no qualms about sharing prior birth stories or medical advice while also giving us the space to make our own informed decisions. Dr. Footer also scheduled Saturday appointments with us to accommodate our commute from Richmond to DC, which also reduced the amount of time my wife and I had to take off from work. Anytime I called his office with a question or concern about my pregnancy, Dr. Footer was always the one to call me back and he would stay on the phone with me until he was convinced he had addressed all my questions and concerns. I can't say enough nice things about Dr. Footer. I wanted a personal relationship with my DR and he provided just that. He exceeded my expectations. It was also important to me that the Dr. I work with be who delivered our son (if at all possible) and Dr. Footer was with us every step of the way. We ended up getting induced at 39 weeks and 1 day. He was there when we checked into the hospital the night before; he started the induction, monitored the induction and was there for the delivery of our son. He even visited us in post-partum and took the time again to address any questions or concerns we had (just as he had at every doctor's appointment). I don't know when this man sleeps, because in our experience it didn't matter the time or even the day of the week, if we needed Footer he was there, and we saw him every day we were in the hospital for both our induction and post-partum care. He had even provided us with his direct cell number towards the latter part of the pregnancy. This was my first pregnancy and it couldn't have gone any better. Like any new mom, I had my moments when I was nervous or seemed to have a dozen new questions and Dr. Footer was always willing to talk and always managed to take the edge off. He was calm and friendly and had great bedside manner. I could go on and on about how great of an experience we had with both Dr. Footer and Sibley Memorial Hospital. From our Doctor, to the anesthesiologist, to the nurses, even the janitorial staff, everyone was kind and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience.
