I'm not one to normally leave reviews when I have a rough experience. I'm not good with dentists so I felt with my fear, maybe it was just me but after reading all these reviews, I realized many others had similar experiences. My dentist referred me here to get two wisdom teeth pulled, one tooth pulled and wisdom roots pulled. I recently had a tooth pulled at my dentist office and they were all so gentle from the numbing to the pulling that it eased my fear some going into Burns office. I got into the chair and told the girl I was nervous and was not sure about doing all 4 teeth at once. She told me burns is great, gentle and quick. She assured me that he does this so much that it's nothing for him and recommended to just do it all at once. I gave in because I knew if I didn't do them all then, there was a chance I would not go back. And boy was I right. After waiting a while, Burns came in and quickly started poking me with needles. I felt like he wasn't really even trying to be careful and honestly wasn't even paying attention to where he was stabbing me. During the stabbing, he received a phone call and left the room. I probably waited a good 15 minutes before someone came back in. During the waiting time, because I was already so scared and then went through that pain with just the numbing, I was on the verge of leaving. For some reason, he numbed the roof of the mouth. It swelled quite a lot and I felt like I was having difficulty swallowing. I was panicking and just trying to relax. I couldn't lay back because that made it harder. I expressed this to the girl when she came in and she acted as if this was normal. Finally, Burns came back in and was ready to start pulling. He took a look at the x rays that were sent over by my dentist and told the girls he couldn't see enough and needed new x rays done. I have a small mouth so this part was not easy or fun for me either. Another reason I hate going to the dentist. He started with the root end extraction. It was super painful. He moved onto the bottom left wisdom tooth. That pain was unbelievable. He stopped and tried numbing me more. Still in so much pain that he decided to go up to the two top teeth before attempting the bottom again. The top teeth weren't so bad thankfully. Now back to the very painful bottom and last tooth that needed to be extracted. I moaned and groaned the entire time. He was having a very difficult time getting this tooth out. (Of course it's the painful one giving the problems) he was getting it out piece by piece and I was suffering through the pain making many sounds just saying over and over in my head "please just get it out! Please say you're done!" The next thing I know I have a tool falling on me and a sharp pain in my lip (my lip was cut. Not bad but all I keep thinking now is "what if it would have dropped on my eye or something?") he just said "sorry hunny, try to sit still." I don't even feel like I was moving a lot so this statement confused me because it felt as if he was trying to say he dropped the tool because I wasn't sitting still. I forgot to mention, I noticed he had a shake to him which also made me worry and question if this was the reason for the quick stabbing of needles, tool dropping etc. why was he shaking? He finally got that last tooth out although, no one knows where it went. They asked if I felt it in my mouth. I said no. I'm assuming I swallowed it. After everything was done he said "take Tylenol as soon as you get home and brush tomorrow." I bleed so much for two days. It's been a week and I'm still taking pain pills and icing my face. Definitely not a fun experience and I'm not going to lie, I cried to my husband when I got back into the car. Definitely will not be going back for any future work. I wouldn't say he was unfriendly but I did feel he was just trying to hurry and did not have the gentlest hand. read more

Dr. Burns had the bed side manner of a porcupine. I will never say anything good about this guy. He never looked me in the eye. I had to put my hand out, to shake his. He stabbed me with the novacane shots, and shot the novacane in at lightning speed, with no care or regard to my tissue. I paid $75 for gas, he didn't give me. I'd tell the jerk to "go to hell", but I think he's already there......... You're a burned out oral surgeon, and it's time to retire now doc, since you possess no compassion, for your patients whatsoever. Your dental assistant was a total bitch as well. I will never say anything good about you, because you were both so cruel and mean. Stop charging people $75, if you aren't going to give them gas. I paid $75 and never did feel the effects of the gas. I've had gas before, so I know what it feels like. I'm dentophobic, and I paid good money to have the gas, but he had it so low, I never did feel the effects. He was rude and cruel, as was his surgical assistant. Christina and Hanna were the only nice things about his office. Time for you to retire, you burned out jerk of an oral surgeon. Dr. Burns is the best in the business. There is a reason why many of the dentists in the area refer ppl to Dr. Burns for tooth extractions. Want a quick, pain free experience without complications later down the road? Then you want Dr. Burns. I had two wisdom teeth pulled today. Not even the Novocain injection hurt. I'm just awe struck over how he comes back in and says okay here we go, wham-bam, "you're done have a good weekend"... The guy is amazing. If you want to listen to the bad reviews of ppl saying "oh he did this and that" seriously? I'm sorry but when it comes to having a tooth pulled out of my skull I want someone confident, I want someone who has pulled a bajillion teeth throughout his career, I want someone who is going to be quick and not cause unnecessary pain/discomfort. Trust me, you don't want complications later on. Dr. Burns is literally brilliant. If you are like me, you'll spend a week sweating and worrying about your apt, then when it finally happens and he does his magic you are going to be like "what???! It's over??? That's it???" I hope someone actually reads this because I know they are going to think, "wow... that guy in the review was right." read more

Dr. Burns is a no nonsense oral surgeon who treated me kindly and was very efficient in removing my painful tooth. My whole experience with Dr. Burns and his staff was positive. Making the appointment with Erica, checking in, and being escorted to the room by his assistant L. My X-ray was on the screen and both L and Dr. Burns confirmed the tooth that was to be removed. Dr. Burns asked me several times if I was ok as he proceeded. My tooth was totally numb and he removed it quickly, with the precision of an expert. He is straightforward, no nonsense which I appreciate. He placed a folded piece of gauze on the gum and then L provided a little bag with more gauze and a sheet with instructions for aftercare. I was pleased that the instructions included the phone number in bold print with a note that the doctor can be reached after hours, nights, and weekends if there is an emergency. One day out and I am so relieved to have had such professIonal care. Some reviewers seemed to be offended that he gets to work and gets the job done. I am extremely grateful he is so proficient. Shout out to everyone who suggested to my wife Stephanie Bolivar, Dr Robert L Burns Jr, DMD, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery office, the whole staff was polite, professional and a delight to speak with, the customer care was immaculate. The dr was direct and struck with precision in removing my chipped tooth behind my wisdom tooth, I don't remember feeling a thing during or after until the drugs wear off but was prescribed meds that helped. To top it off, hours after the procedure they called afterwards to make sure I was good, but apparently I was in a spaceship talking to god about the boys. Karen Kelley Robert L Burns review Feb 2023. I chose general anesthesia because I have a small mouth that doesn't open wide, making it difficult to work on my back molars. It is difficult for any dentists I have seen. I have to say that my experience was very positive. Dr. Burns was professional, polite, and kind both before and after. He even helped walk me out to the car alongside my husband. This was my personal experience. Had to have my wisdom teeth pulled a few years back and the whole procedure was painless and quick. Moving for to today's visit 8 years later. I have develop Anxiety and Dr. Robert and team made sure I was relaxed and clam during the procedure. If I have to have more teeth removed I will only use him. Since I now plan on brushing my teeth 4 times a day i am sure this will be my list visit. A very good experience, from walking in to check in to being escorted out. I was a little concerned after reading Yelp reviews and started to notice my waiting was getting longer. Dr. Burns came in with his assistant and whipped right through my extraction! He joked with my husband and apologized for the delay... a sincere apology!! Dr Burns and his entire staff were terrific. Scheduling was easy. Communications by the office was clear and responsive. Dr Burns was clear in explaining what needed to be done and why. He removed the roots of a broken tooth and subsequently installed an implant. Both procedures went quickly and were painless. I experienced no pain afterwards. Followups went quickly. Having your teeth pulled is no fun but Dr Burns is the only doctor I would trust with the task. he is kind, quick and patient and definitely knows what he is doing. I also love his staff as they are also extremely pleasant and willing to help with what you need. I got 4 wisdom teeth removed and it only took 30mins I got a free lunch box 2 ice packs and a stainless steel 24 ounce water bottle filled with white cherry slushy they take great care of everyone they have the staff is absolutely amazing the doctor is awesome I've never had more of an amazing experience coming here I love coming here ! read more

First surgery ever and it was a breeze! I was told so many horrifying stories of getting your wisdom teeth removed but Dr Burns and his staff made me feel at ease. I was referred to Dr Burns by my dentist and was seen the same day. My wisdom tooth was very painful and hard to get out. Dr Burns made my visit very quick (less then an hour for the whole procedure)and the office was very prompt and polite. The Dr was knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. Dr Burns did an implant for me. I was impressed from the first day I walked into his office. The staff is wonderful. Love how they send text reminders. When you have a 2 o'clock appointment they see you at that time or even before. I would highly recommend Dr Burns and his team for any dental work needed. I was seen for emergency situation where I needed two teeth extracted. I had spent the previous night in excruciating pain.
