You go to the counter and order your food. They then bring your food to you. Other than that, no other service. You want water, get up and get it. You want your table platters removed, you have to get up and ask someone to remove them or do it yourself. And for all that service, they'll tack on an automatic 20% gratuity to your bill for parties of six or more. The cherry on top is when a henchman starts lurking near your table at the 1 hour 40 minute mark because they have a two time limit even if you've spent upwards of $450. No thanks! Our family group of 4 celebrated birthdays at Robert Renzoni Winery. This day was well planned in advance. The winery was beautiful with very pretty views to enjoy. The wine pourer who has worked there for 10 years was nothing great as she seemed to be more interested in slamming back her tastes of wine when she could with her back turned to guests while we patiently waited for our next taste. Her pours were quite skimpy with the one pour then a drop for the second. Looking at our neighbors they had pretty generous pours. We had reservations made well in advance for lunch with their first come first serve there weren't many choices but we did get a picnic table in the shade in front of the nice 2 piece musical group. Guests go and place their food order as well as getting your water (no ice) they do not have the choice of an iced tea etc with ice. So basically like a taco shop order, get your water, keep getting up to fill your water cup up and don't forget to tip 20%! They did serve our lunch however, never asking how everything was after bringing our food. We were asked to leave after the 2 hour lunch for other guests even though NOBODY was waiting to be seated for lunch. Overall I wouldn't go back. This is my second time eating here and I was not disappointed at all! The food is amazing. It's so fresh and delicious. I had the Vendemmia salad and added chicken and it was so tasty. The gorgonzola cheese puts the flavors over the top. It's December and the greens, tomatoes and strawberries were fresh and crisp. Nothing was over ripe or wilted. My hubby had the Italiano sandwich and he loved it. There was lots of meat but the bread balanced it out, not to mention it was soft as well. We started with the cheese and meat board and it was so good. They had a drizzle over the whole thing that made all the flavors come together. On a Saturday later afternoon, a group of us came to Robert Renzoni for wine tasting. The tasting room is separate from the restaurant and is indoors with an outside patio (you still have to go inside to get your next wine, but you get what looked like casino chips to keep track of how many servings you have already consumed). The indoor area is very cold. I am not sure who decided it was the right temperature (maybe the wine...), but I was freezing, so the outdoor area was the place to be. Metal chairs and tables are spread throughout the patio. You also can enjoy people watching as they enter and exit the winery, if you are into this, of course. The views from the patio attached to the tasting room were really nice, but from the restaurant they are even more amazing. The restaurant area also has a bar, if you just want to get some beer and stare at the vineyards. Parking was plentiful, although primarily on the gravel road. The winery can accommodate quite a few people, so it didn't even feel crowded on a Saturday afternoon. I tried their Sangiovese and truly enjoyed the subtle sweetness of it. Service was a bit of a disappointment. The lady serving me lacked personality and substituted it with some attitude. But who knows, maybe she just does not like wine. Overall, I would definitely come back here for the views and somewhat distant from the main road location that may not be as frequented by tourists. read more

I wanted to do an update for Renzoni because I am, A- No longer a sucker for sweet wines, and B - Have been a member here now for at least two years. When I previously wrote they were still in their small industrial building. Now they are in a gorgeous space, reminiscent of an Italian villa with great views of the surrounding hills. The tasting room is gorgeous, inside and out. The process is very streamlined and easy. You pay, or check in if you are a member, at a register area in the front. They give you your tasting chips and you move on. If you have pick ups, you get them there, and can also purchase any additional bottles or items you want. If you are not a member, you can taste anywhere along their large, beautiful bar, and there is an outdoor area you can sit at if you choose to. If you are a member, you have the option to go into the private member's room, which is much more quiet and less hectic than the large tasting area. There is also a private patio for members. They also have a restaurant now, Mama Rosa's Trattoria, that has excellent food. Anybody can enter through the side patio and dine there, or as a member, you can place your order in the member's room, take a seat inside or out, and they bring the food to you. I really enjoy their wines. Both of their Rose's are phenomenal. La Rosa is a fantastic summer wine, full of strawberries, and on the sweeter side. Their Lyric Rose is a drier Rose and I have adored it since they released it late last year. I absolutely love their Sangiovese, Concerto, and Cabs. Their Big Fred's Red is a great easy to drink red that good to pull out when I have guests over for get togethers. Also, their Mama Rosa's Marinara Sauce is still to die for, and is a regular staple in my pantry. Customer service here is wonderful, I have never had a negative experience with any of the staff. The servers are all very friendly and helpful, especially Janelle, who has served me the past two times I have visited. This is always the first winery I bring friends to when they want to go out to Temecula with me. I have found that many wineries in the area have changed over time, for the worse, but Robert Renzoni has done nothing but improve in my opinion! read more

I have never been to a high end restaurant and had to serve myself. I was a little shocked when we were informed that we needed to go to the bar to order our food and drinks. It reminded me of a high end fast food place with out the refills on drinks since they come in cans or bottles. If you have a party of 6 or more you automatically inquire a 20 percent tip on your food but aside from them bringing out the food you ordered they do not serve you . Service was okay. It's weird that they have a hostess, food runner, and bus boy, but don't have waitstaff. I had to stand in line for around 5 minutes just to place my order. Not something I'd expect when I was told I needed to make a reservation if I wanted a table. Food was mediocre at best. I ordered a Caesar Salad (no chicken) thinking it should be pretty foolproof. Alas, it was over dressed and completely soggy by the time it got to the table (30 minutes after ordering). It was hot outside, but the lettuce was soggy upon hitting the table; it had clearly sat there for a while. It had two croutons on top, and that's it. I took a few bites and didn't eat any more. My boyfriend enjoyed his sandwich, so that was good. Their misters were a nice touch, but they kept dropping water into my drinks and food (don't sit at 302!), so I just stopped eating, finished my beer, and left. What a horrible experience. Drove all the way from Las Vegas because of all the good reviews. It says on google and their website that is it "pet friendly" and that "pets are welcomed" I have a small 15 pound Maltipoo and brought him in. They offer member discounts on wine and merchandise, separate indoor and patio area which is really useful on the busy weekends, and invitations to special events. Their on property restaurant, Mama Rosa's Trattoria (outside), I really enjoy their pizza but actually all the food is good. In the summer it can get hot out there so if you can get a table with misters, I would. The weekends get pretty packed so plan according for slower service and longer wait times for the patio. However, it is not a full service restaurant, but more like a order at the counter, then do you self serving kind. Looking for some scenery with your Sangiovese? Robert Renzoni Vineyards has got to be one of the most beautiful options in Temecula. Their patio sits bird's eye view from some serene mountain tops transporting you to a peaceful oasis even though it can get up to 100 degrees in this area. The cooling misters do just the trick to make it comfortable in even the highest of temperatures. They do Italian wines which we really enjoyed, especially the 2011 Sonata. It's a blend of Cabernet and Sangiovese and for a red wine it was actually surprisingly refreshing to drink in the sun. We paired it with salad and sandwich both of which were really tasty while we enjoyed live music from an artist covering everything from Tina Turner to Bob Marley. It's impossible to do all the wineries in this area in one day, but if you want to narrow down your visit to experience all the perks Temecula has to offer in one stop RRV is a solid choice. read more

My bf and I stopped by this winery towards the end of the day, and we weren't very impressed by it. The winery was packed full of people when we arrived. We used a 2-for-1 premium wine tasting coupon, which cost $15 w/o the logo glass, and we each received 6 tastings. The wine tasting menu seemed pretty extensive, but overall neither of us were impressed by any of the wines. Nothing stood out to me, so we did not buy any bottles afterwards. During our tasting, they offered us samples of spaghetti sauce (after we requested it ourselves) and small breadsticks to munch on. Service was subpar. The staff seemed friendly, but they weren't very attentive to us. I'm not sure if it was because we used the coupon or because it was nearing 6pm and they started cleaning up before they officially closed. None of them gave us generous pours either, compared to the other wineries we visited. Based on our experience here, I probably wouldn't bother going back to this winery unless if there are new wines to try and the wine tasting room undergoes renovation of some sort. read more

Robert Renzoni Winery was just ok for me. None of the wines from the tasting compelled me to buy a bottle, but then again I had just come from Doffo Winery. I do like the tasting room though, it's large and castle-like on the inside. My favorite thing about Robert Renzoni is the glass. It is similar to a goblet and makes me feel royal drinking from it. I do believe I exclaimed, "Off with his head!" once or twice, but this was also our 4th or 5th tasting.... I would put Robert Renzoni on your list of wineries, but maybe just not the top of it. read more
