This review is for their appointment policy. I was sent an appointment reminder on a Saturday for a Monday appointment that I didn't have in my calendar (my part in this). I emailed and left a message within their 24 hour time frame, hoping I was okay to avoid their $100 cancellation fee. Well they called me today and said that because I contacted them on a weekend, I was still going to be charged $100. WHY SEND AN APPOINTMENT REMINDER ON A WEEKEND?! We are in the process of moving this week and to say I have been stressed financially, mentally and physically is an understatement. This just broke me today. Please update your system to give parents reminders during office hours. All your families are cash paying while also paying for insane insurance rates, just so they can give their children a safe place to be seen. While I have appreciated that - please consider that many of us don't have an endless supply of funds with the exorbitant cost of living in Orange County. read more

Front desk staff were friendly and efficient! They got us in a room right away. We didn't wait long once in a room. Nurse took all the vitals and information. Doctor saw us shortly after and was very thorough in his exam of our 2 month old baby boy. Answered all our questions and made us feel welcomed to his practice. Doesn't take insurance but was worth it for the peace of mind and non judgmental environment. Dr. Bob Sears is very knowledgeable and has written books on vaccines and everything you need to know to make an informed decision. Our current medical group, Hoag, told us they wouldn't see our son if he didn't plan to get shots even though it's not stated in their new patient packet. I've had my share with poorly trained doctors and also had gone through a handful of pediatricians when I had my children 8 years ago. Through trial and error we found dr. Sears. Dr. Bob Sears is a godsend. We drive 80 miles to take my kids to see him. He is thorough with the well visits and undeniably knowledgeable with everything pediatric related. He will point you in the right direction if your child needs a specialist. He is patient, calmly spoken, and will suggest what's right in his professional opinion for your child. I'm fortunate My children are generally very healthy, but even the slightest symptoms he does not take lightly. When my son was an infant, he would have itchy little bumps on his calf, comes and goes, sometimes ok sometimes not so good. My son would scratch it occasionally. Over the counter Creams doesn't really help it completely go away, it was there for 4-5 months. when dr. Sears saw my son's calf, he immediately suggest We avoid dairy. My son would drink goats milk and cow milk at the time. And when we tried it, My son's calf was clear in 1 week!! Another time, My son had a funny nail growth, that was persistent and sometimes is red and itchy. It bothered him. When we saw Dr. Sears, he suggest we get it tested for fungus with a specialist (highly recommended dermatologist in irvine). We followed his recommendation; saw the specialist, it was not Mold, but instead she said it was eczema, prescribed perfect cream and again, gone In 1 week. We trust Him and feel that he'll always be there for our family with our children's health as his best interest. Thank you Dr. Bob! read more

If I could leave 10 stars I would. I could cry writing this review just based on the fact that I am so deeply grateful to live in a world where the Sears family of pediatrics existed. Everything I've come to know about the Sears family in medicine has been parent first to support them to do what is best for their child and their family. I appreciate our check ups because all my questions are answered with care and concern. I never feel like my questions are dumb or annoying and my child is thriving due to their guidance during many communicable illnesses my son has had in his early life from Influenza, colds + flus, stomach flu's, rsv, covid and more. If you are looking for a doctor to treat you and your children like you are people and not numbers - this is the place. My review is a few months over due.. here is why... my 4 year old has dealt with severe eczema since she was 1. I have seen every doctor and every specialist possible to try get the help we need. Our family sacrificed a-lot for this appointment and we had really high hopes that maybe we would get some answers from such a well known doctor. Since she had used every steroid available I really wanted to go it as natural as possible and hopefully get to the root cause. We walked in to Dr Sears office, no wait which was great. The office ladies were incredibly kind, another reason I gave 2 stars. However, we were in his office for maybe 5 minutes, possibly less, and he took a look at her skin and really had no answer for me. Simple a piece of paper with a bunch of other doctors I could try and take her to. That wouldn't bother me, I get it, you can't help everyone - except for the fact I was charged $220 for this appointment. I honestly couldn't even believe I was being charged for the shortest most uninformed appointment I have ever been to. Thankfully I found another doctor that actually took care of her, took time with her and was able to find the root cause and heal her skin in 6 months!!! Unfortunately it wasn't Dr Bob Sears. The reason I wanted to wait to write this review was to not just write an emotional review but actually check and see if she was able to find healing or if it was just something she would live with. read more

The First time with DR Vivi and then Dr Jim. We wanted to get DR Bob but apparently he is quite polular. Eventually we saw DR Bob. All of the doctors and staff there are really great and always is good experience for the kids. Our medical coverage doesn't cover this so we had to pay cash. Even paying cash for their service is fine as it is affordable. read more

Our kid grew up as Dr. Bob's patient - (as a baby was with Dr. Bill - also great). I have been incredibly lucky to have this doctor who has helped figure out a couple of issues of great concern to us. He has a way with cutting through the emotional concerns and figuring out how answers to health issues that are accurate and healing. He has prescribed the meds we've needed along with suggesting health-building diet and practices. His scientific methods and holistic leanings are such a fresh approach to modern health practices. You've seen all 3 of our boys and I'm always appreciative of how invested you are in their health, especially when there are scary moments and they need more oversight and expertise. I've found you to be thorough, contemplative, and efficient with our appointment slots. I'm sure you're a doctor in high demand and yet, I've never waited more than 10-15 mins to be seen. Most doctors have a wait time of 30 mins minimum it seems these days with no acknowledgment of time waiting. So thank you for your time management and for respecting our time as well. Last and certainly not least, I adore Cheryl, your wife and nurse who has been the nurturing, empowering voice that I've needed to hear in moments of pure worry and discouragement as a mama in distress during critical times of need for my children. My son is now almost 8 years old and Dr. Sears has done all his wellness check-ups and sick visits. Here is the original review: My midwife recommended us to Dr.Bob Sears. He is the first and only pediatrician my son has ever seen since he was born. We have always been so pleased with his calm, kind demeanor. He is super knowledgeable and we have learned a ton from him. I think we have become more relaxed parents as a result of working with him. With your first child it's easy to get worried about colds and vaccines etc...he always guides and supports us in our decisions. His office staff and medical assistants are awesome, I can call anytime and they are there for us. When we ask my son if he loves Dr. Bob, he says "I do!" and so do his parents. read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would! Dr. Sears and his office have been so helpful on every phone call, portal message, in person appointments, sick visits. I cannot tell you how happy and relieved we are that we found him and his office after our horrible horrible experience with our sons previous pediatrician. We switched from an office just a couple miles from our house, to driving to Dana Point all the way from Huntington Beach, and we will do it every time for our kids. Dr Sears and his staff are patient, kind, and are eager to give my husband and I the tools so that we can be self sufficient for our children's health, but also they are there as experts to guide us when things become more serious. We are even able to do phone sick visits for our kids when we are out of town, and they send over the prescription out of state. When you call you don't get to speak to anyone, you just have to leave a message once you get through their unnecessarily long phone directory system. Anywho, called 3 different times, left 3 different messages to book an appointment for my kid, no call back. I guess they don't need the business, but I figured at least a call back would be common courtesy. Not a lot a professionalism over here apparently. My children have been seeing him for almost 15 years. Absolutely the best Doctor. He genuinely listens. For those who think he is Anti Vaccine it isn't true! He is for informed consent. One of my kids has received vaccines and one has not after having a reaction.
