Dr. Salter has been our main pediatrician, but we've also seen Dr. Harris and Dr. Jugant, and every experience has been wonderful. What used to feel like a pediatric office now feels like a business focused on maximizing revenue. Getting an appointment is an exercise in frustration. Even reaching someone by phone is difficult, and when you do, you're often told there isn't any availability. The patient portal is another nightmare--I spent an hour just trying to regain access, which made communicating with the office even more difficult. The front office staff seem completely burned out. Every interaction feels transactional, and there always seems to be another fee. The final straw came when we switched to a new pediatrician. Our new provider attempted to retrieve my children's vaccination records through the California Immunization Registry, only to discover Coastal Kids hadn't entered them. Because of that oversight, I had to request the records directly from Coastal Kids--and they charged me $20 per child to send records to our new doctor's office. Charging families to correct the consequences of your own administrative failures is a terrible way to treat patients. If you're looking for a pediatric practice that is accessible, patient-focused, and organized, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. We left because the quality of the experience steadily declined, and unfortunately, our experience during the transfer out only confirmed that we made the right decision.

My daughter is always excited to see doctor Steve, for both well visits and sick visits. She says, "doctor steve will make everything better. I want to go see doctor Steve, and only doctor Steve." He is patient, kind, thorough, communicative and very knowledgeable. We feel so confident in his care and are so grateful for how he has gone above and beyond for our family. He has been there for my daughter since birth, and has helped us navigate through major health issues. You never know how great your doctor is until you have an emergency, and we feel blessed to have had our daughter, Allison, under the care of Dr Abelowitz during those difficult times. He has always made sure my child has received the best care, also referring us to excellent specialists when necessary. He has followed up with the referrals and made sure that everyone treating my kid is on the same page. I cannot recommend this office enough. I know my daughter has always received the best care with doctor Abelowitz. In addition to everything stated above, The practice is very organized and I have been very impressed with the ability to make same day appointments and are generally able to see our favourite doctor, Dr. Steven Abelowitz. This review is longer than most as I want to repeat : he is with OCEAN PEDIATRICS. If you're curious as to WHY he is not at Coastal kids (they're to blame for the negative reviews, in my opinion) kindly read this article: https://www.latimes.com/socal/daily-pilot/news/story/2024-08-02/newport-beach-pediatrician-sues-hedge-fund-he-partnered-with-alleges-managers-put-profits-before-patients Don't believe the negative reviews as coastal kids and those running it are the ones who are at fault (this is my opinion, and my opinion alone). The hedge fund currently running coastal kids (Steve's old practice), are putting profits over patients. They forced him out for putting PATIENTS FIRST. This hedge fund in particular seems to NOT care about your child at all, and only focus on the big P: PROFITS. This is why non-professionals (like the entity running coastal kids) should *never* be allowed to partner with professionals. It compromises professional integrity and puts profits over people. Attorneys and doctors are prohibited from partnering with non-attorneys and non-doctors for exactly this reason. Maybe some hedge funds have gotten around it by having doctors as partners. New legislation needs to be passed, prohibiting any organization with a single non-professional partner from this kind of activity. I have been WAITING for Steve to open up a new practice, and am so happy OCEAN PEDIATRICS is OPEN & accepting new patients. My daughter was one of the first- I got her in their system on the day they opened as I completely trust Steve and his amazing staff. That said, If you're want your child to receive the BEST care, call OCEAN PEDIATRICS and make an appointment with doctor Steve Abelowitz.

I am the patient that just left the credit card on file, with insurance or not, I trusted. BETRaYED. They are not in the business of healing, they are in the business of steeling. Keep your receipts, record your phone calls, document your visits. They say the bill insurance and they don't. Then the mistake is found, no apology, just "we will call you back, then the bill magically turns to zero Ya. You can keep your slimy greedy business model for yourself. No longer patient centered. Again. What a shame. Dr abelowitz, though your probably too busy to notice, or read this message, I know medicine has changed, I know I can't expect more then 5-10 minutes after waiting for an hour for a appointment that was made weeks in advance. Why do you continue to grow your business if you are not really trying to be a health care provider anymore. The lines have been blurred for sure. For the prospective patients, do your research, try to see the same Doctor twice, you can't. You will Likely see a PA because that's all they will give you, because they care so much about your kids Try to get strait forward billing, you can't , because they don't know what they are doing either. I understand that working in a call center and medical office can be demanding, and I appreciate the efforts of your team. However, after several appointments over the past few months, I have noticed some areas that may benefit from improvement. Today, while trying to schedule an appointment for my child, I found that very few appointment times were available, and the interaction felt somewhat lacking in empathy. As parents, when we call regarding our children's health, we are often concerned and looking for reassurance as well as assistance. I have also noticed that many appointments seem to be handled by nurses rather than physicians. While I appreciate the nurses and their hard work, there have been times when the care and guidance provided did not feel as thorough as expected. Even when a child appears to have a simple cold or virus, I believe every concern should be approached with caution, attentiveness, and respect. Having lived in several states and worked professionally as an operations consultant, I have experienced many healthcare systems. I genuinely believe there are opportunities to improve scheduling access, patient communication, and the overall service experience for families. My intention is not to criticize, but to provide constructive feedback in the hope that it helps create a better experience for your staff, parents, and most importantly, the children who are your patients. Thank you for taking the time to listen and consider this feedback.

After a very brief appointment -- approximately five minutes -- during which Compound W was applied to treat a wart, our insurance was billed and paid the adjusted charges. We were then charged additional out-of-pocket fees on top of that. At the office's direction, we contacted their billing department to dispute the remaining balance due to the minimal nature of the treatment provided. Unfortunately, the charges were not adjusted. We understand healthcare has costs, and we respect medical professionals' time and expertise. However, we believe billing should be reasonable and proportionate to the services rendered. Because of this experience, we've decided to seek care elsewhere. We're sharing this so other families can be informed and ask detailed questions about treatment and billing upfront.

I loved taking my child here over the years. Dr Kraft is amazing. She truly is one of the best…read moredoctors I have ever met. I am not fond of any of the other doctors there, but it's been a good, comfortable place for my kid. But now, to be able to continue to receive the same service I have been getting and expecting for my family, I have to pay an administrative fee of $150-$250 a year (depending on the number of kids that you have). See the attached photo straight from their check-in portal. Otherwise they will charge you for every non-medical service that isn't covered by insurance - such as a call from your doctor about lab results, a vaccination record for your child or a medication refill over the phone. I am shocked and utterly horrified. It's bad enough that our insurance companies rip us off left and right with high premiums, deductibles, and copays, but now my provider is charging administrative fees!?!?? Their excuse - the insurance companies don't compensate us enough so we need the patients to cough it up. Food, housing, clothing, medicine costs have all increased and people are barely making ends meet these days. Incomes have not increased, but the cost of living has. And now, my pediatricians office wants to make more money by charging for simple things that should be included in the overall care my child receives. Sure, I can opt-out...but then what are you going to charge me for? What non-medical charges will I now expect to see on my bill? I called for a refill...how much do you charge for that? I asked for a note for my child's school....how much do you charge for that? These are not things that should ever be something a parent worries about. We have enough worries about our children and putting food on the table. Now I have to have anxiety about more mystery charges appearing on a bill? There was no prior warning about this...no emails that went out to parents and patients, no update on the website...this appeared as I was trying to do a check for my child for their appointment. There is minimal transparency about what you are charging for these non-medical services. I want no part of being at a place that does something like this. I will need to find a new office now...this is so unethical. How many more patients do you think you will lose because of this? I have never been at an office that has ever done this. What are you going to start charging for next??? How sad...customer care and service is now a money making business at Mia Bella Pediatrics.

As in any doctor's office, there is sometimes a 20-30 minute wait, but seeing her is worth it. I'd say that 4 times out of 5, she's been able to take us for a same-day appointment. She is gentle and takes her time with each child. Dr. Amina is knowledgable with homeopathic medicine as well as Western medicine, and I appreciate that she tries natural remedies first before going the route of medication or antibiotics (which has worked each time!). She's also considerate of how many factors can affect my child when she's sick. For instance, she guessed that my daughter may have asthma when I brought her in for a lingering post-cold cough (her father has asthma, which I hadn't mentioned!). Her staff is friendly, and my girls love the colorful play waiting room, kid-appropriate TV programs playing in the background, child-friendly bathroom, and the cute themed exam rooms. The girls leave with Disney stickers (makes them smile!). And there hasn't been any tears yet. So thankful that such an accessible, caring and skilled pediatrician is only 12 minutes from our home!

Let me just say this firstly: I guarantee with my own integrity that you will not find a better doctor in this area! Without comparison to other doctors, you might never know how good he is. My daughter has been seeing a Chinese-speaking doctor because of my mother's language barrier, but my son has been seeing Dr. Lee all the time! I'd always had a very good impression of him with my son because he always came to see us very quickly whenever I went to his clinic. First, the waiting time was very short, and second, he was incredibly patient. He answered all my questions very seriously and wasn't in a hurry to leave. I often asked really silly questions, but he always answered them patiently! Believe me, if it were any other doctor, they would have left long ago! Everyone's time is precious. If you can find a doctor like Dr. Lee who is willing to explain any details to you, you must cherish that. His professionalism and knowledge are beyond question. He always manages to pinpoint the problem accurately. Just a very simple example: When my son had a stomachache, I took him to other doctors, and they recommended an X-ray. But Dr. Lee told me that many children have stomach aches due to constipation. I later discovered that every time he complained of stomach pain, he would ask to go to the toilet. Of course, there are many other examples like Dr. Lee,who is exceptionally gentle and attentive when administering vaccines. Compared to other doctors who can even apply bandages crookedly. He never over-treats, and he never creates anxiety for you. No other doctor can compare to him in this respect! As I mentioned, my daughter has been seeing a Chinese-speaking doctor, but recently she caught the flu. Yesterday, Friday, I called her doctor, who very indifferently and barely answered some questions. Today, my daughter has a fever, and because it's the weekend, I couldn't contact them at all to offer any help. I had no choice but to leave a message to Dr. Lee. I really didn't expect him to reply to both of my messages, the second one even at almost 10 pm without any paid! This isn't even within his job description. He could have easily refused to help me. But because of his kindness and his genuine concern for children's , he chose to help. He told me because my son is his patient so he likes to help our family. Of course, I need to immediately transfer my daughter to Dr. Lee's .There's no need to see any other doctor, even if it means communicating in English. I remember asking Dr. Lee before, "Why don't you accept insurance premiums?" Because he doesn't, many people would seek out doctors who do. He told me he didn't want to spend time arguing with insurance companies; he wanted to spend his time seeing and taking care of patients, that's exactly what he did. I'm glad he did that because if he took insurance, his clinic would probably be the busiest in the area. He only charges 100 for a consultation, unlike many places where it's 300. This proves that he genuinely wants what's the best for the children and helping children, not just making money. I realized long ago that my child was more important than $100. I preferred not to go through insurance because when you encounter crucial problems, you realize it was absolutely worth it.
