I used them years ago for two lines of my fence. When a neighbor's garage collapsed and took out a bunch of one line, Robert's came out and quoted me quickly, at a very affordable rate, and then did the work the next day. Anyone who places blame, then insists who to blame to the point where the business owner tells her to F-ck off, is likely making it up! Updated review on Robert's Fence. Just had King Quality fix the damage to the brand new siding on my house that Robert's Fence did when installing a new gate. Robert's Fence continues to say they did not cause the damage. As per king quality it is quite apparent that the damage was caused from the removal of the old gate whereas a nail must have caught the siding causing a hole and a five inch gash. I'm sure it was not done on purpose but the owner should take ownership of the incident and not tell a customer to F off. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this company! So disappointed in my experience with Roberts Fence. I had my fence installed in 2019 and haven't had a month where we didn't have an issue. The cedar fence they installed keeps falling. Their response after spending $4800 is to simply get rid of the fence and spend more money (at a discount) for a PVC. To only later, retract the offer. I've only had the fence for less than two years. Two days ago, a friend of ours 5 year old child ran along the fence. A board fell and the NAIL went into her foot. I immediately called Roberts Fence for a solution. Only to be ignored several times and then have a correspondence via text. This is embarassing. It's embarassing to me and my family because our fence look TERRIBLE. It's embarassing that this happened to this child, who had the accident. Take this as a warning not to use Robert's Fence Company.  Take the time to review the prior reviews - and don't think that they were one-off occurrences or that it won't happen to you.  We met with several fence companies when we bought our new house to have our driveway gated off.  We were in the process of getting a rescue dog and we knew this was a priority so that we could have a fully fenced in yard.  We were quoted an installation date of mid-May when we met them in mid-April.  We got a better price from a local competitor (but they said they would start in mid-June), but we decided to go with Robert's because of the more immediate installment date... that's where the trouble began.  We asked if they could match the rate we were given by the competitor, and we were told that we were given a good rate already because we live "all the way in Wantagh" ... WHAT!? Maybe you should've declined the quote if it's that far out of your service area. We decided to move forward since we needed the fence done sooner rather than later.  Robert's continually cancelled on us citing all sorts of reasons including truck delivery delays and weather.  Expect to never hear from them unless you call them to pull the updates out of them - and when you call them, expect regular updates of "we will be there later this week" and "oh, we'll call you if we are unable to make it" and expect them to continually fail to meet these low expectations.  Expect to get regular busy signals when you call both of their office numbers at any hour of the day, and expect that their customer service staff will keep you on hold for several minutes.  They all have SEVERE communication problems and need to work on basic people skills (think: don't ever be rude, sarcastic, or obnoxious with customers) and need to be taught that the customer is always right.  Despite their original quoted installation date of mid-May, our fence was not completed until mid-June.  When they came to complete the job, they just started working outside my house - no phone call, no doorbell, nothing - and I only knew they were here when I heard a truck idling outside and power tools.   Please don't use them.  Learn from us and save yourself the aggravation and hassle. Trust me, it is not worth it. We were given them as a recommendation for work they had done for family and friends. They might have worked well in the past - but it is clear that today no one cares about their lack of being able to deliver on-time work or satisfactory customer service.  Everyone understands things are crazy due to COVID, but it wouldn't kill them to keep their customers informed!  Please read the other reviews - and please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

I can't believe the past bad reviews I have seen here for Robert's Fence; NOT my experience at all. I didn't know them from Adam; my roofing guy recommended them because they installed at his house and I trust my roofing guy. They were 100% great in every way. From the gentleman who initially came to measure and estimate to the guys who installed the fence, to the people in the office- every one of these people were first rate. What a fantastic job from start to finish! We had a cedar dog-ear fence installed on 3 sides of our property and white vinyl in the front. Installers were perfectionists and so neat. The owners and office staff couldn't have been more professional and helpful. Their prices for cedar are also very reasonable because they make their own fence panels. Roberts Fence will make it a point to collect their deposits and balances, but ask them to fix something improperly installed, and be ready for a battle. The staff in the office don't want to be bothered, and the owner Robert plays the avoidance game for an extended period of time. I now have a fence with a gate which cannot be closed due to a post not being properly cemented. I wish businesses would consider how they would like this treatment at their own homes. This company is the worst.. They promise and promis and deliver nothing. We used tehm for our house in Stonybrook where they came and measured the job, then when they installed the fence they came up short by 3 feet. It too over 1 year to get them to complete the job, after calling and calling and calling... Our second house they came an measured and we signed a contract for them to do the work, 2 days prior to the job we confirmetd that they would be there on the Sunday. We even called on Saturday before to make sure. Both times he was very rude and told us he woudl definalty be there... Well Sunday came and went with out even a call. I was very disappointed in my fence installation. I had asked for the same fence I had up to be replaced - It had decorative poles and matched the rest of fence in yard - I pointed to a picture in the brochure which had the decorative poles - John said ok - wrote up the contract - I prepaid / Fence was installed while I was at work - came home and no decorative poles - john said contract wasn't written up with decorative poles and they would have cost $500.00 more - got the run around with john and Robert - John didn't write contract up correctly - would not recommend and will never use them again! To Who it may concern, I had old fences taken down and new ones installed on Saturday, June 22, 2013. My neighbor used Roberts fence Company and I loved how their fence and gate looked. The crew from Roberts fence arrived early in the morning like they told me they would. That alone pleased me because I was still waiting for another home improvement company to come to my house. The other company was a No Show three times in one week! It is so annoying to sit home waiting for workers to come and they don't show up! Robert's fence company came when they said they would. The two guys that came to my house were actually brothers. They were so great, they should be cloned in my opinion. They got right to work and removed my old ugly fence . I told them that my biggest concern was keeping my dogs in my yard. My back yard borders a road with heavy traffic. The installers from Robert's fence were already knowledgable about my particular job because the owner must have filled them in ahead of time as to what fence goes where and the importance of having the same size sections for a symmetric pleasing appearance. I did not have to tell them a thing. The installers noticed that my driveway and walk ways were only a week old and took great care not to damage anything. They showed me how they left a little room under the gate so it won't scrape the new walk way. But not too much that my little dog can escape from the yard. The installers did this on their own without me having to say anything! They truly paid attention to details. They explained that the town wants the gate to swing open a certain way because of the pool. I had no idea but these guys were Knowledgable ! Also, I have a large Amish made bird house that was right where these guys were working. The birdhouse is fully occupied. My husband warned me that the bird families might have to relocate if the birdhouse had to be moved. I felt sad about that. I have other similar birdhouses in my backyard, all of them are occupied. My husband and I drink our coffee and watch the mother birds feed their babies. It is adorable! The day before Roberts fence came , I was watering my garden and noticed a baby bird had fallen out of one of the houses and died. I was heartbroken and cried . When Roberts fence company came the guys were so nice and so sweet! They installed my new beautiful fence and arbor without disturbing the birdhouse! Again, I hadn't said a word about it but these guys were awesome and kind hearted, and they managed somehow to install everything without bothering the birds! It all looks so beautiful. Everthing is new, crisp and clean. These guys don't leave ANY Mess!!! And they were kind about my big dog barking at them the whole time thru the patio doors. When my silly daughter told them that the Arbor needs a chandelier, he gently smiled. I could not be happier with the job that Roberts fence did, and the installers were AWESOME!!! I would have given 0 stars but apparently you can't do that. My husband and I received a estimate for fence. After the initial meeting we were told by J that we would receive an email by the end of business day with a quote For the two fences. My husband received the email after 8 pm. We responded to the email and did not recieve a response. Two days later we followed up. We explained that we were very interested in booking with them. The receptionist took my information and said that J would contact us back for scheduling. Again we didn't hear anything. Called again the next day and was told that J would return our call. No call yet again. We called yet again and now they said they couldn't find our file. And now after explaining everything all over again I said that we were very interested in the price we received and wanted to schedule. Receptionist said J will call you back. J called the next day and we were expecting to book based on the quotes received. We were then told by J that well the price has increased since last week. We understand the price of wood has increased due to COVID But we were given the runaround. J explained that he would talk to his boss and see what they could do. Well we got a text the next day from J saying Roberts fence is booked until August and they are no longer booking appointments. Roberts Fence is very unprofessional. Wasted our time. We needed a wider gate installed to allow for access to our yard for building materials and called Robert's Fence. Honestly, it was shaky in the beginning as communication is not their strongest attribute but once we got to the installation it all went flawlessly. The guys were knowledgeable and gave me ideas of how it should look and when completed, it looked exactly how they described it. I highly recommend them BUT make sure you have defined clear next steps with them otherwise you wont know what's going on. Very positive experience and extremely happy with the results. I called last Tuesday to replace 450' storm damaged fence. They showed up on Wednesday and started the work on Friday, completing the job on Saturday. As far as fencing goes, the quality of the product is very good, cedar over spruce, definitely the way to go and the installation was done with absolute precision. The installers, took their time and every post is SOLID, no play in the posts and each panel is secure. I'm not easily impressed with these sort of things, however Robert's did just that and more! The fence they installed for my family is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, the workers did not treat my property with respect and left my backyard a mess! Foot prints tracked across our entire deck, our garden is completely ruined and my rose bushes are now non existent. The gate was improperly installed and was very uneven. When questioned about it the owner was rude and immediately raised his voice. I do not recommend this fence company! read more

Absolutely abysmal customer service. We had a fence installed at my wife's private practice. There was an issue with the gate not latching properly, so we scheduled a time in the morning for the installer to return, making it clear that there were only certain hours that would work so as not to interfere with the practice. The installer showed up in the afternoon instead of the morning, interrupted a session with a client by knocking on the door when he couldn't see the problem with the gate, and confronted a female staff member angrily, making her quite uncomfortable. When informed of all this the sales representative was defensive, argumentative, and dismissive, with such choice comments as "it's not our fault she chose to come outside", and "so he knocked on the door, big deal!", and questioning the staff member's honesty with "Were you there? Was I there?". I spoke to the owner who was actually apologetic and offered to meet me at the property to resolve everything, except that he decided not to show up to our meeting and instead just sent the installer and sales representative that had caused all the problems in the first place. The gate was not fixed; in fact the sales representative insisted throughout that there was no problem despite the fact that the latch bar had been installed too high. We did not come to any acceptable resolution. The way they treated both their customers and my wife's staff member was beyond unacceptable. read more

Horrible experience. Was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt from the negative reviews I read but they were all true. Robert's Fence came to install the first section of fence a week ahead of the scheduled date. Just showed up at our front door. Had problems with the first section installed (didn't use correct hardware, didn't cement all the posts down, cemented other posts too high about 2-3 inches above grass, connected onto neighbors fence instead of putting my own post as which was stated in the contract). The second section took over 10 weeks to get installed. Cancelled on us 4 times with no phone call or warning. I missed days of work staying home for them. We had over a dozen phone calls with the office, they have zero communication skills. Robert was supposed to come by our house to inspect the first section of fencing that they messed up but he never showed up. You will never get him on the phone. Overall, horrible experience, will never use them again. All the negative reviews were correct. read more

Workmanship excellent, arrived 8am, as agreed upon, and my pup was running around a secure yard by 530 pm. I have used Roberts for a good 15 years possibly more. They did fence at my first house, they did all my fence where I live now, and also did fence for my husbands job, in our recommendation. The lady fence they put up for us, was July 2015. This past winter, we saw 2 sections come down. Upon further inspection, we saw that 3 poles broke. I called them because we've never had an issue. Here were no storms that came thru to have knocked this part of the fence down. They told me it wasn't under warranty. One of the guys that came to see it, said they'd replace the poles but that's it. Well the short version is, they still have not given me those 3 poles. When my husband took the ones out of the ground, they were rotted. Treated poles should not rot in a year plus time. I wanted to speak to Robert senior about this but I never got a call from him. The back and forth I've gone thru with them, I'm done. I'll never use them again and I'll never recommend them to anyone else again. I think Robert is on his way to retiring and his son took over. He's not doing the job his father has done in the past. read more

Hired them from a recommendation of a friend and they did a great job. We had them install a stockade fence around our entire backyard and an aluminum pool fence. They came within a week for the stockade and completed in 1 day- looks great! They came back for the aluminum when it was in stock and also completed in 1 day, there was a slight malalignment of one of the self closing gates, I contacted the office and they sent someone the next week to take a look and fix it all. Not to their fault but one of the posts went through an underground pool pipe and caused a leak- when I contacted them about the gate I also let them know about the piping, they also came and fixed that without any charge. They did a better job than my pool company would have as the pool company wanted to cut up the concrete, Robert's guys dug a hole big enough to expose the pipe, didn't cut my concrete pool deck and fixed the piping with the gate as well all in one day. Overall very satisfied with the work and would recommend. read more

If you want a Fence, look elsewhere. I hired this company about 4 years ago because I saw their signs all over Long Island and assumed they were a large, reputable business. During the fall, our stockade fence blew down and we needed it to be repaired. A rep came out and after a few weeks we never heard from them. We called several more times and Robert, the owner stopped by. He stated that he would send someone over to replace the 3 posts that were damaged. That was 4 months and several phone calls later. Roberts fence came to my house charged me $3100 to put up my fence and in the process hit my cesspool line. When I called him to tell him about the damage the owner told me he was not responsible for anything underground. He told me to check my contract. I asked him to come to the house and look at it and speak with me and my contractor he said I don't doubt that we did it we are just not paying you for it. It cost me $1400 to replace the line. I told him he needed to give me something otherwise I was going to post a bad review. He said "Don't threaten me I don't care about bad reviews" I asked them to come back to my house remove the fence and then put it back up so the cesspool company could come and install my new lines. That they did however when they put the section back up they put it up backwards. I have called numerous times to try and get even just a I'm sorry and nothing. The best part is when I called they told me I was talking to a manager and when we hung up I called back and asked to speak to the owner the woman told me that is who I was talking to. Me and my family has done business with Roberts fence many times but NO more. I'm not sure what kind of business man runs his business like this. read more

If I could have given it a zero star rating I would have. The worst run business I have experienced! Jimmy came to give me an estimate and did not bring along a brochure for me to look at or choose from and had only one spindle sample. He did not provide me with a diagram of the work they would do since my fence would be unique due to the slant of our embankment. He returned two days later with the estimate at which time I asked for references/addresses of work they had done especially since, unlike other companies who brought along a diagram of the work, I had no idea of how this was going to be done. He said he would get back to me. Long story short, I got the addresses (from the secretary). I called several times to discuss the job further, each time getting no response. I today called and was told that Jimmy "didn't want to do the job" and asked the secretary to inform me WHEN I CALLED AGAIN. What type of business doesn't return calls or, furthermore, doesn't inform you that they weren't going to do the job but didn't have the professionalism to call and let you know!!!! By reading others reviews here, I'm very happy that Jimmy "didn't want to do the job". The job must have been more involved than they are used to and I must have asked too much of this poorly run company!!! In addition, when I asked for local jobs I could view, they had difficulty finding any near me. That should have indicated something!!! read more

Received several recommendations to use Roberts Fence. Senior owner has an unprofessional (gruff, unpleasant) demeanor. Price was $1K less than other fence companies. Of course, you get what you pay for. Cedar fence very poor quality wood (drastic color variations, many rough spots). PVC front railing is fine. Workers installed properly. If you are attracted to this company because of its reasonable prices, ask to look at completed installations, and those of competitor before making a decision. read more

The absolute worst customer service and dealt very poorly and lied to by the owner of the company. I received an estimate approximately 6 weeks ago. I accepted and scheduled a date for it to be installed. Nobody ever showed. When I called they had no record. They said they would call me back which they never did. So I called back and they said the owner would call me. He never did. I call back another day and I get the run around. Finally the owner calls me back and says he will install the following week...well they never showed. I call back again and I get the run around. This goes on for a few weeks until I finally confirm they will be installing the fence with an exact date and time. I take off of work so I can be home....A few hours pass and they still weren't at my house. I call up and they tell me that they have no idea what I am talking about and I am not even on the calendar. I wasted a day off and am now looking for another company. This was the worst, most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. read more
