Been using Roberts Street Pizza for take out for a few years now. It is always hit and miss but we keep giving them chances because when they are good, they are very good. Our pizza the last 6 months has been either raw or burnt. I told them that one time the dough was totally raw and then that night we got a burnt pizza, like it was a joke. I phoned in and got a credit on our order. Ordered ribs last year and they were dried out and had to throw away half. Got a credit for that too. Usually can't go wrong with the pasta but the last few times has been beyond disappointing. Tonights was the most boring baked spaghetti I have ever had. It said meat sauce. There was a faint red sauce that was barely there. There was no meat, no lumps of veggies or meat or nothing. Just basically looked like pasta with a touch of ketchup baked with cheese on top. We are in Nanaimo for vacation and we're exploring the area when we stumbled upon Roberts. It's mainly take-out or delivery but there are two "cafe" tables with chairs inside and a large outside area. However the outside area is dirt not grass or cement. There are two huge picnic tables outside that could easily hold 10 people each. We ordered take-out, I choose the 4 cheese and my husband choose the ultimate, plus we had cheese bread. Holy cow, the pizzas felt like they each weighed 3 lbs when we left. The cheese bread prices were huge as well, see my pics. The pizza was absolutely fabulous tasting and the toppings were huge. Quality has dropped over time. We had "the ultimate ". Vegetables were coarse & looked machine chopped, lots of topping. The thick crust was very soggy in the centre but OK at the edge. Poorer overall compared to past years. read more

I walked into a liquor store that was across from our Hotel, and the cashier had a take-out order of an amazing looking "MEATBALL LASAGNA". I became so fixated on it, that she thought would try and take it when she wasn't looking and she wanted me out of her store asap. I asked her where she got it, and she said "Roberts Street Pizza". When I got back to my hotel to check them out on the internet and the menu did not list a "MEATBALL LASAGNA". So ask for it. Unfortunately, while I was out my wife got chicken and sadly I will not be back in the area for another 5 years. The local said it tastes as good as it looked, and it looked amazing. Really really good pizza! On the pricy side, but the quality is worth it. I wouldn't recommend straying elsewhere on their menu though. The few things we've tried other than pizza were not good at all (the pasta is an abomination ) but we absolutely love their pizzas! Especially the meatball one! read more

They were so super busy they said it would be around 2 and 1/2 hours to get my food, but I went with them anyway...After taking to one young lady, a supervisor and then the owner, we figured out an amazing menu for me. I have ALLERGIES which can be deadly, and they took the time to sort all of this out with me. The food is amazing, portions are huge, and VERY tasty...it is NOT "just a pizza" place, everything I got was REAL italian items and REAL greek salad... Roberts Street Pizza is one of only two options in town (the other being 7-11) for pizza, so there's unfortunately no competition for them in the area. As such their menu is fairly alright, but it can be pretty expensive and greasy. As far as the pizza goes, it's pretty standard stuff, they have all the usual options such as your typical Ham & Pineapple, Pepperoni, Meatlovers, Deluxe but they also have a "specialty" menu selection which has such odd choices as Double Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza, Taco Pizza, "The Mac" (which is their take on a big mac on a pizza), the Canadienne (which is a Pepperoni with Mushrooms). As is most common with a Pizza place you can either get it delivered or do takeout. They do have seating in the building, but more often than not half of the kids working there (almost exclusively high school kids) are sitting in them and chatting. They're very rigid with their menu, and I recall once asking to order a specialty pizza without one of the toppings and having the owner give a very crass objection to the very idea. Apparently greasy pizza is an artform. Their sauce is very sweet and tastes like there's twice as much sugar as there should be, and as I mentioned, the pizza is often fairly greasy. Truth be told I prefer the 7-11 pizzas (which are available almost 24/7) if I get one in-town, but if I'm going up the highway anyway, I'd probably get something from one of the pizza joints in Nanaimo or Chemainus instead even if it means it's not quite as hot when I get home. That said, most people in town only know of this place for pizza, so if they feel in the mood for pizza it's either this or a frozen pizza from the grocery store, and yes this is better than frozen pizza (although just barely). read more

At one time I considered it the best pizza on the Island; the crust was amazing, flavorful, nice chew with a crispy bite. The toppings have always been great, but the last pizzas we got had about as nasty a crust as I have had, dry and more like one you might expect on a cheap frozen pizza. Without a doubt, the best pizza I've ever eaten! I have never been a big fan of pizza, never would consider having pizza leftovers, typically cover my pizza in a dipping sauce to get a better flavor. NOT ANY MORE. I won't be going anywhere else for pizza anymore and this place is out of town for me but absolutely worth the 30 minute drive!! My boyfriend agrees and loved his pizza equally as much as I did. We ordered a medium and were allowed to split our toppings to half and half. Neither of us was able to finish our half as they were both loaded with fresh and fabulous ingredients. The only somewhat important downside is that it is in a very small house and does not have a large seating area. It's possible with a few small round tables and chairs but don't plan on bringing a group or large family. Take it out, don't miss out. read more
