Just another excellent evening with the restaurant folks! This time, finding the place was easier (it's off a back alley). Got there just when they opened and got a prime seating near (but not to near) one of the fireplaces (they have several italian brick style). The restaurant has many twists and turns creating many wonderful dining alcoves. Very inviting to sit and talk. So on a cold December evening we both had the Polo Appollonia; a wonderful mixture of garlic, bacon, and cheesey pasta. But the real star of the meal were the appetizers! Amazing tasting tomato soup, and the insalata caprese. The salad had a large portion of crisp tomatoes served with like a half pound of real homemade buffalo mozzarella, and lots of fresh basil. Almost a meal. The waiter was very helpful in selections of the food and some wine. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Vancouver Island. read more

What a wonderful place to enjoy a meal in downtown Victoria. We were on a cruise and decided to eat off the ship for a meal. A local recommended this restaurant to our group. You have to come here! Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Ordered drinks- loved the Chianti. Got the caprese salad for an appetizer- perfect for 4 people to share. I ordered the LINGUINE CAPESANTE without onions. It could not have been better. Allison was the most amazing server. Ask for her! My friend had the FRUTTI di MARE della CASA. Those were probably the table favorites. The manager even came by to ask us how things were going. On a Monday night the place was packed. I recommend making a reservation. I have been going here for over 20 years maybe longer and have yet to leave a review. It is always on our list of places to go to when we are in town and we come to Victoria at least once if not twice, a year. The food is phenomenal. Although I was just there yesterday and no Osso bucco??? I'm sure they'll say it's seasonal but get it if you are there. The risotto is to die for. Love the Caprese. Fabulous wine selection. Delicious food, fantastic bread, friendly staff. We've come here for our birthdays twice and we've been so happy with the experience each time. The bread is literally incredible, we order an extra basket because it is so good. We ordered the mussels this time and the sauce was insanely good. Really good pasta here, my favourite is the Frutti De Mare! Comes with tons of mussels, prawns, and halibut pieces which is great, and makes it well worth the price! Table gets a free basket of bread with every basket thereafter being $6. Service was excellent our server was very kind! He gave us a free dessert and extra bread basket for my birthday! This place is truly THE DESTINATION in Victoria, and our first stop every time as soon as we arrive. Be sure to make a reservation as tables are always booked out in advance! Our absolute favorite dish here is the Fruitti de Mare seafood pasta that comes with a generous serving of mussels, prawns and halibut in the MOST delicious white wine sauce (seriously, I could eat a vat of just that sauce). Pasta was perfectly al dente as well. The other pastas are sounded amazing as well so we'd have to be back to try them, like the carbonara with beef tenderloin, Hokkaido scallops with mushroom etc. The bread that gets served in the basket is perfectly fluffy with crisp edges. Shout out to our server Eric who made us feel like a superstar and took such wonderful care of us the entire dinner. They also have friendly staff at the door personally greeting each diner as you walk in. Where do I start? Celebrating our anniversary in Victoria, we wanted a nice dinner in a romantic setting. Il Terrazzo by far seemed to get the best reviews hands down. We made reservations several weeks ahead (recommended). Our server, Adrian, was informative and helpful. Attentive. We started by splitting a formaggio di capra salad. One of our favorite restaurants at home has a goat cheese and pear salad that we love. This one was excellent. We the split the pork scallopini. And I am so glad we split! The picture posted here is the split portion. The pork must have been close to 16oz. Note: they do have a split charge for the entrees, which we find is common and totally acceptable. Is there a way to give 6 stars out of 5, because we would if we could. The space is very cool, dating back to 1890 when it was a hotel. Very much 19th century architecture and vibe, right up my alley (no pun intended). It is tight in the space and the sound carry's very well, but it's an Italian place it should be loud. The menu is quite varied, but doesn't have too much, always a tap dance as far as that goes. The service is outstanding with each part of the show well integrated with the others. Our server Dean was great keeping us moving along, but not pushy at all. A big shout out to Kiran, who kept our waters full and our plates cleared and looking like an old hand, in spite of her limited years. The food is outstanding, from the bread and tapenade, which was more than enough for the two of us to the Caprese salad also split. My meatballs and spaghetti with pesto was delicious, as was the lovely K's carbonara and filet! I realize meatballs in Italy are a separate course and the pasta with pesto should be another, but I don't care, the meatballs were that good. One of our favourite Greek places is not too far away, so these two will be fighting for our dining out dollars for a while. All the more reason to visit downtown Victoria. We tried to book a table here 2 weeks ahead of time and only get to book for the 8:45pm serving. Apparently since Covid, the restaurant only open up from 4:00 and maximin group size is 6. So plan ahead. It's super busy. It was still full house when we arrive that late. If you love seafood and want something less carb heavy, I highly recommend CANNELONI e GRANCHIO. The Mango salsa and coconut curry bring out all the amazing flavour of the seafood pasta dish. You should try it!! read more

The waiter told me that the restaurant actually has a florist that comes in regularly to do the floral arrangements. They are so beautiful! We enjoyed our pasta dishes. Would love to try the other items on the menu. I didn't particularly like the nuts I had in the chicken pasta (most popular and recommended). Downside is they used to give unlimited free bread with the olive tapenade but now they limit it to one basket still a fantastic restaurant though and portion sizes are pretty big! The restaurant entrance is on an ally called Waddington near the corner of Johnson and Wharf. There's a parking garage on Yates which is a short walk away. I had the osso buco which was amazing. Came with risotto and veg. Friend had the fuoco pasta which had some chili and was a 3 out of 5 on the hot scale. We shared a vanilla cheesecake with blueberry, but would pass on that. The comp chocolate truffle was quite rich. Add in a soda and caprese, and dinner came to $119 before tip which I think was reasonable. Very loud restaurant with a lot of brick and "windows" hanging from the ceiling to try to separate tables that are packed right next to each other. The food is worth it though. We were here on a Wednesday this month, and they were packed with people waiting for tables. Our server was almost yelling in order to be heard by neighboring tables. I made reservations at this restaurant after a coworker recommended this restaurant. It did not disappoint. The restaurant was lively and packed with diners on a weekday. The complimentary bread and tapenade was a tasty starter. We then enjoyed a couple pasta dishes and beef tenderloin steak as our mains. I ordered the fusilli pasta with bolognese sauce and my husband ordered the seafood and linguine noodles. Steak was cooked to medium rare perfection with a nice brandy peppercorn sauce. Food was delicious and portion size was good for the price. Service was top notch from beginning to end. Our server check in on us regularly. Water cups were never empty. The kitchen was speedy in delivering food quickly to the table. We were too full for dessert. I highly recommend making reservations in advance. It has that low-light vibe, which I prefer, and while we had to wait, the staff was very accommodating. They initially tried to sit us in a four-spot they had pulled apart, and it was right in the middle of the action. The manager walked by and said, let me please move you to a more comfy spot, and he did. From that point on, the night was perfect. We tried the pork scaloppini, which was the best we've ever had. Gorgeous, romantic interior with a brick + wood decor that looked lovely by candlelight and was filled with beautiful artwork. Service was excellent, including prompt, regular check-ins and a recommendation to change my entree order to something that turned out to be phenomenal (thank you, David!). We started with salads: one with a sliced and cooked portobello mushroom (fungi arrosto) that was good and another with a baked hazelnut-crusted goat cheese and poached pears with a great, intense flavor (formaggio di capra). The focaccia served with tapenade was very nice too. David recommended a fantastic red wine to pair with my partner's entree and brought her a taste beforehand to make sure she liked it. I was driving, so I had one of their non-alcoholic "sours" with pineapple and coconut flavors, which turned out to be a wonderful surprise. For the entree, my partner had the lamb shank braised in red wine (Gambo di Agnello) with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables, with was both delicious and a generous portion. Initially, I was going to have the steak because I rarely trust a restaurant, even an Italian one, to make better pasta than I do at home. David boldly recommended that I switch to the "Spaghetti Carbonara" (usually a fairly simple dish) ........ but he was absolutely right to do so. I will order this every time I return - it was one of the most amazing sauces I've ever had and the beef tenderloin + mushrooms they added were very well made. We finished the meal with the Bocconi di Dolci, a trio of small desserts. That night's trio was a good hazelnut cheesecake, a great mango panna cotta, and a heavenly tiramisu. Above all of this, I appreciate that the staff were so welcoming to all of us and treated my four-year old (who sampled our dishes throughout the night) as well as any other guest. These days, some "fancy" restaurants can play games with small proteins next to heaping sides, ignore you for long stretches, or follow bold claims on the menu with bland, uninspiring food. During our week stay in Victoria this was by far our favorite meal! The restaurant entrance is tucked down an intimate alleyway which sets the scene for the rest of the evening. The service was very good and our wait staff was super attentive. The food though is what really made this dinner memorable! I had the spaghetti carbonara and my wife had the meatballs and both were to die for. We also had two mocktails which were reasonably priced and very good! It is definitely a more intimate seating style so understand that you will likely be seated very close to others especially if you're in a smaller party, but for us this wasn't a distraction.
