As for towing the truck, I never said they towed my truck six miles, I said probably put on dollies after the tow truck driver TRIED to tow it. Never said Airbag had anything to do with Drive train or Transmission. I said I got into my truck and the Airbag light was on. It was not on before this event. Explain this. Sensors are in the bumpers, that is correct, and perhaps the boom of the wheel lift hit the bumper, perhaps, it pinched a wire, again, not a mechanic, I'll know that when the truck is inspected. Ma'am are you serious about the phone conversation we had? My Insurance agent ask that I call you and let you know that I have filed a claim. You then proceeded to argue with me why I didn't call you first. I pay for insurance for this reason. I wish I recorded the conversation, because there were other statements that were made during that call by you that were negative, and disrespectful. I have all documentation backing up my statements. I understand that when you make 500k per year towing vehicles, you are not going to have friends. To whom this concerns, I had made a past review but was took down due to it being based on another persons horrible experience. These are based on my experience. 1. Robert Towing Company - wrote on a response to one person that they record all call placed to them. I called the other day and spoke to a women who stated that phone calls are not recorded. Also, when you call to find out where your car is they do not say this call is being recorded for training purposes or anything. Yet on a post he wrote that he wrote that he would pull the conversation. So how is this allowed to happen? Massachusetts's wiretapping law often referred to is a "two-party consent" law. More accurately, Massachusetts makes it a crime to secretly record a conversation, whether the conversation is in-person or taking place by telephone or another medium. Are phone calls recorded or not? If they are, why is the caller not informed by the operator? 2. How is it that Robert's Towing company can tow car's that are in paid parking spot? I called to ask this question and was told by a male that "we have contracts with management companies". According to my friends management company where my car was parked in her permit spot on Colbourne Road - they do not have contracts with your towing company. If someone pays for a spot, in the contract it does not say anything about cars being towed/ permit being shown. how can you tow it? Wouldn't this be considered trespassing? 3. Roberts Towing is reckless and arrogant! by Samarah One Star Rating because I couldn't put negative stars or zero stars! A recent experience with Roberts Towing left me feeling like I had been mugged. I had to cough up $50 to have them un-hook my car (at the mere push of a button) as I had come back to my car before they had towed it away from an inadequately marked area of a shared parking lot in Brookline. He was doing a brisk business that day as the restricted area was marked above the sight lines of drivers and many drivers did not see the sign at that angle. The even larger issue: my car is a Subaru. Everyone knows that all Subarus are All-Wheel-Drive and must be towed on a flatbed truck. The tow truck driver assured me it was OK because he only had the rear wheels in the tow bar. What stupidity! The car could have been damaged beyond repair if he had towed it to his storage lot and they would have claimed that they were not responsible. I was lucky I got there when I did and had the cash on me. At some point, if they haven't already, they will tow a 4 WD car on a conventional truck and kill the drive assembly. They should lose their license to do this work or be made to pay up for damages in such obvious cases. That would make them think twice before hiring incompetent drivers and putting peoples' cars at risk of severe damage. The businesses or individuals who hire them to tow from their parking lots should also be held accountable (get them in their wallets or campaign against their business). A license to tow is not permission to ruin a car! These people think they can operate without responsibility. Get the state government to restrict predatory/patrol towing. read more

I find it very unfair the way Robert's Towing treats other human beings who are struggling in this tough economy. The fact that you towed my son's car from a parking lot the musicians use often to unload/load equipment 15 minutes after mine, clearly demonstrates the fact they are greedy and patrol for money. I will be telling everyone I know and posting reviews about their hot spots and what this company truly does to make a buck. I try and be a stand up person and admit when I am wrong, which I did in my original complaint...I did not find it fair that I was charged $35.00 for less than an hour of having my car. So you stick to your rules and regulations Robert's Towing and live with your greed if that's what makes your company thrive. Good luck with that. These guys truly are the scum of the earth. A neighbor of my friends called them on me and claimed that I was parked in her spot. I was not-- my friends have two spots, and I was parked in one of them. The driver essentially threatened my friend whose spot it was, and when I told him all I had to get the car down was $42, he told me to "dig deeper". He told my friend, who is one of the most gentlemanly people I know, to step away from the car because he was being "a smart guy"...not true at all. Then, he threatened to drive away, making me pay the whole $129. Finally we came up with $50 total and he skeptically counted it and drove away. So my car was towed last night in a place where I've parked before, but I wasn't aware that I technically wasn't supposed to park there. I called the people at Robert's Towing, explained the situation and they were extremely understanding and really friendly about what turned out to be a miscommunication (I was definitely in the wrong though by standard definition). They even gave me a break with getting my car back, I was really impressed and thankful, they could've been real nasty about the whole thing like most other tow companies, but they really showed a lot of consideration and professionalism. No one likes getting towed, especially when you are towed from YOUR OWN parking spot. But at least Robert's played by the book. This happened a couple months ago at my friend's condo lot(I park in his spot whenever I visit him as he does not have a car) I furiously arrived just as the driver was installing chains and dollies. How can you tow my car from MY spot with a no tow on it. Well I certainly got mad and yelled at the driver, whom stayed calm and reasonable. He said he called in to get authorization with the property manager so the spot was certainly not on no tow. I didn't believe him, so I had my friend, whom was in the condo dressing, call the management. While I do that, the truck driver called in again to check with the management and told me the no tow expired and my car didn't have a permit(I swapped car with my friend for the weekend as I needed an SUV for the weekend and the permit was in my own car). It turned out he wasn't lying. My friend called me back saying the same thing, and told me that you WILL get towed if you don't have the permit displayed, even if it's your own car and your own spot. So end of the story here, I paid the money, and the driver dropped my car, and he kindly reminded me that next time, you should make sure to renew my no tow or put my permit on. When I left the lot, I read the sign and it did say vehicle without proper permit will be towed at owner's expense. So at least what they did was completely by the rule. I wasn't happy, since I could have spent the 75 dollars on a very nice dinner at a French restaurant, but at least Robert's played by the rules and it was my fault not to have my permit or not renewing the no tow. He called in to get authorization from the property manager, he double checked with the manager when i argued with him and he explained the situation calmly to a outrageous customer(well not really a customer but i couldn't find a better word for it). Given they are the necessary evil here in Boston, I really don't have much to complain against them, and I should probably bring my parking permit next time. read more

The fee I and many people who have written yelp reviews paid is not in fact posted on the sign next to robert's trailer (I'm looking at a picture of the sign right now), so I do still feel I was charged an arbitrary amount. Additionally, I spoke with someone claiming to be Robert when I first noticed damage on my car and they of course responded with the claim that it was already there, so I don't think an additional call to the office will result in service that is any better. read more

First of all, I didn't realize I was in "private" parking nor was there any signage in my direct presence that stated I was in a tow zone. There was no sign in front of the spot I parked in, and it was not marked. This is why I took a picture before AND after. I even left a note saying if there was a problem to contact me, I would've come down within minutes to move it. Instead it gets towed, and my bumper gets cracked...what did you do, drop my car off the truck in a hurry to retrieve more vehicles?! The dispatcher was not very friendly.... but, let me rewind, when I returned to the lot, only to find the empty spot, I walked around and saw a sign on what appeared to be another building or section, I looked for it, it did not stand out. This company apparently does not know how to do their job, which is how I ended up with damage, and no contact to inform me it was being towed. I did not park there because I thought I could get away with it, I also didn't think it was private parking....in fact I thought there were businesses on the lower section if the building. Roberts towing must be money hungry, which is why they charged $143 and ONLY accept CASH. Red flag? I think so! It's a simple phone call the IRS to have them audited.... is someone trying to pull a fast one on Uncle Sam? Again, I think so! This will be blasted all over social media and my car will be going in for quote on my cracked bumper asap. Nobody likes getting their vehicle towed. And no one likes returning to work or home and finding someone parked in "your spot". So unfortunately this business of towing exist. I may not agree with it, but it is what it is. We came into Boston on Friday, admitting our daughter to Boston Childrens Hosp. With the marathon this same weekend we had to book a room out of the city one night. We aren't from the area or state for that mater. We stopped to get a coffee and bagel on our way back to the hospital. I did see a sign, but only registered the ... Bagel customers parking... Didn't read the "will be towed" ... That was my error. In all honesty, I wouldn't park where I'm not suppose to. I personally think the sign is a little deceiving. The guys that towed my car were cordial. I still think they were around the corner waiting for the next "out of towner". It is what it is. My rating reflect the industry as a whole. On the other hand, if I was broke down and NEEDED a tow, I'm sure I would give them many more stars. Where I live TOWING is an honorable profession, that you call when you need help, and they turn a bad situation into something positive. The good news is my daughter was discharged Tuesday and we are back home with plenty of parking for everyone. We live boston children's Hosp, they are the best! This place is a joke! They tow cars that are parked legally and are extremely rude when you talk to them. I parked in a spot in the Excel HS parking lot in Southie on a Saturday night like everyone around the area does during nights and weekends when there are no street spots available. It has been this way for several years but now Robert's Towing is apparently in charge of towing on the property and have decided to make their own rules. The school recently repainted the parking lines in the parking lot and apparently you must park exactly in the spots or else they will tow you on nights and weekends. There is NO SIGNAGE that states this change so Robert's will be profiting nicely. I recommended Robert's Towing put a sign up stating the new rules so that others would be made aware of them and they laughed at me so it's safe to assume that if you park there you will be towed at some point. Another nice touch is they are in Brighton so it's a $20 uber ride from Southie to get there so the total cost at a minimum is $179 ($159 for the tow and $20 for the uber). These guys are complete scumbags and will tow anything they feel like so Southie parkers beware!!!! read more

I backed up into a long driveway on Lorraine Terrace off of Kelton Street in Allston. I was there to pick up my daughter and her dog. I was diagonal from the car holding the dog on his leash for about 3 minutes. This towing company backed up the driveway really fast with tow down and hooked my car up. I started yelling to stop so that they wouldn't take off with the car. My daughter was coming down the stairs of the apartment building with her luggage and heavy items. The driver and his counterpart said I needed to pay $50 cash, he didn't have change and that I had 10 minutes to pay it or they would be towing it. He said that an ATM is around the corner. He said that this is a fire lane and a small sign somewhere is posted. This driveway is for loading and unloading temporarily. I was not parking there. I was standing. In the end, the tow truck was in the "fire lane" longer than I was initially in the driveway. I wasn't even given the option to move the car. After reading many of the reviews and unhappy customers, maybe this company would be more profitable and receive better reviews if they focused on assisting the people of Boston and guests that come to the city temporarily ( and for only 3 minutes ) than driving around looking to make easy money. read more

My car got towed on 10/7. When I went to go pick up the car, I noticed that the tow hook cover on my car was missing. I asked both employees there about it and they said they had nothing to do with the "towing" of my car. They advised I call in on Monday 10/9 and speak with the owner Robert. It has now been 9 days and I have called and left a message multiple times with the employees. I have still not received a call back and all the employees seem to have excuses as to why I'm not getting a call back. It ranges from "its a holiday week", "if he doesn't call back by tomorrow, call us back", "I have not been in since last Tuesday so I don't know if Robert has been in", to "we had the incorrect number written down, maybe that's why you haven't received a call". This is getting ridiculous. You had no problem towing my car within two hours of parking and taking $155 to recover it. But as soon as there is a problem on your end, you are less than efficient. read more

They towed my car out of my spot, and when I complained about it they said it wasn't their problem!!!!! Then when I finally got my car back there was damage done to it that THEY had caused in their oh so important towing. I'd be careful parking anywhere that has a sign with their name on it. The only review I have is that I know Roberts Towing has a contract with alot of places in Brighton, MA & Boston, MA. They are trying to do their job and make money from us with these high fees. I have checked on th BBB Website as of today and they have 22 Complaints against them and they are not registered with the BBB. This was my 1st incident which happened this past tuesday night. I was parked in a parking lot for less than 1 hour and when i came back it was gone. I was angry that someone might have stolen it. Then I called the Police and they gave me a Robert's Towing Company Number I called it and I gave them my information and they told me It would be $131 Cash Only and I had to get a cabride 8-10 miles away from Robert's Towing. I went to Rite Aids to get a pack of cigerettes and then me and my girlfriend went across the street to the pizza place to grab a bite. We were parked there and when we got to our car it was 8:53... The sign said that we could clearly said that we could park before 9. We saw the dude towing our car and we tried to make our case. But this fat mexican bastard told us to fuck off and demanded the drop. This company is PREDATORY to the MAX. Their practices are illegal in other states but they have free reign here in MA. I literally parked illegally in a whole foods lot for 5 minutes while I ran into a corner store and my car was gone when I came back. I don't even know how you tow a car that fast. I'm sure my car got damaged. They're clearly just hiding and waiting for people to park and snatch the cars. This is totally illegal in other states but the Commonwealth lets them screw us all. You can even tell what a gem the owner is from the comments. Can't wait to see what they writes here. "You parked illegally therefore it's your fault". This towing company towed my car while it was still parked legally in a school parking lot in South Boston. I came home late on Tuesday night, the 21st, and there was nowhere to park. I found a school's lot, the Tynan School, in South Boston, where it said Resident Parking was illegal between 7am and 4pm. I parked there around midnight, and went to retrieve my car at 6:55 am and when I noticed my car was not where I parked. I found out from the city tow line that it was Robert's Towing of Brighton, 10 friggin miles away. I have the printed receipt, saying the tow occurred at 7:05 am, but I could also show a call record where I called my work at 7:05 am, which was when I told them my car was towed and that I would be late. Their time on the statement was fabricated to justify their towing my car early to make a profit, and call records and the school that I work at can testify to the nature of my call at 7:05 am. Ultimately, their driver lied about the time of the tow and that alone should refute their entire argument. They were greedy and knowing that a person has no other choice but to pay the lot fees to get their car out, they think they can get away with it, and it is not right and should be rectified. And from reading the above comments, this business seems to have a pattern of illegal and despicable business behavior that leads to lost funds and time of law-abiding citizens. I wish there was an option for giving them a negative star. I was moving some stuff out of a friend's place and had a zipcar (pickup truck) parked right next to the curb for hardly 2mins, when this moron from the towing company decided to show up. He hooked his truck to the car and was about to start towing. This thick-skulled human being had a tough time understanding that we were moving something. He claimed that he did not see anything inside the truck. Moron did not seem to understand that things were being moved into the truck. He wanted us to pay $50 which we did. He decided to take off (Top-Speed in a residential area with kids playing nearby) without giving a receipt. We had to run behind him to get a piece of paper that said "this is not a receipt". Calling up the company did not help, cause the lady there claims the drivers have this piece of paper. Isn't there any rule against not giving receipts for cash collected? Horrible experience. 1) Although I called first, when I got there (just a pad of concrete and a tiny booth), i was told cash only, no check, no charge. I know I wasn't told that -- I NEVER carry cash and would have heard, but the woman demanded she had said so. When I went next door to call Uber again, the man said they had MANY people come over, all who had no idea they were to come with cash. Given very few people walk around with hundreds of dollars in their pocket -- and given the complaints -- you would think Roberts would work a bit harder to make sure clients knew this. But they have your car -- why would they care? I had to use Uber for the trip there, trip to bank, then back. 2) I definitely hear a clanking going on under my car. I was going to turn around and complain to them, but Roberts consists of ONE woman in her booth and the people who are out in the trucks towing. I knew such a place would just claim they had done no damage -- why waste my time? read more

I have waited to write a review since I am still fighting to recover the money for damages done to my car by Robert's Towing. My car/daughter's car was towed on 4/18/15. It cost $131.00 for a 1.12 mile tow and they had they had the car at their location less than an hour. I have called the Dept. of Public Utilities 617-305-3788. Check with them to see if you were overcharged as I was. That is not my big concern though. The problem is they scratched my drivers side door and front fender causing $1,220.69 damage to the vehicle. When picking up the car, my daughter screamed at Anthony that he scratched my car, they packed it so close to other vehicles. He said to call the insurance company Monday morning. I called on Tuesday and reported the claim. My insurance company tried to reach Robert and he never returned their call at which point, 10 days later they notified me saying they denied the damage. I tried to call Robert and he never returned my call either. Robert's response is that their trucks are all self loading wheel lifts. Well this did not happen when they towed it, it happened when they parked it to close to another vehicle. This company is so dishonest, I can't believe they are still in business. read more

I have seen them blatantly blow through red lights at 50 mph by my apartment (well above the speed limit anyways). Any business owner that has a contract with them to tow should be ashamed. They are predatory and have no regard for the rules. I will be making a formal complain right after I finish with this review. They towed my boyfriend's car last night. This is the same car that has been in that spot forever and somehow his "pass wasn't visible enough" in the windshield to the driver so they towed it to make their fricken 100 bucks. These people are the scum of the earth and thanks to them I will be finding another spot to park next year where they are not contracted to slither around. I have also seen the jackasses do illegal business when they pick up cars. The law is that if they pick up your car, but you offer to pay the fee before they leave you can pay half and they have to release your car. The Roberts Towing towed my car from 1620 Tremont Street, Boston around 4:39pm today. They claimed I parked there from 1:30pm to 4:39pm which violated 90 minutes parking limits for shopper at TGI Friday, Citizen Bank and Stop and Shop. I called Roberts Towing at 617-244-1818 and was told to contact New Boston Management at 866-342-5623. I had a business lunch at TGI Friday and left the parking lot around 1:40pm to return to work at 841 Parker street. My coworkers can verify that my car parked at my office parking lot between 1:50pm and 320pm today. I went back to 1620 Tremont Street to pick up couple things from the store. That was when I found out my car was towed around 4:39pm. I had no other choice except paying $122 in cash in order to pick up my car so I could drive home. It is not right for them to tow my car and charged $122 without a good reason. I will file a consumer complaint via Office of the Attorney General and the small claim court. read more

These guys are low-life a-holes. Yes, they are a towing business, and yes businesses hire them to protect their parking spaces, and yes I saw and read the tow zone sign - I understand all that. However, to be towed from a space in an empty 10-space lot during non-business hours (8pm at night) is completely unnecessary, uncalled for, and shows zero class. Do they think the Bank in whose space I was parked gives a rats ass if someone is parked there when they are closed? I highly doubt it. I was there for 20 minutes to get a slice of pizza because every meter on the main street was taken. The only reason they towed me was because they wanted someone to take it up the you know what! And they wonder why tow company's get no respect or why people get pissed off at them! It is because they have no common decency or self-respect. In addition, it gives the business who owns the space a bad rap because local residents get pissed off at them, and in this case it was a bank, which already have bad enough reputations as it is. I am submitting a revised review. Roberts responded to my earlier review raising issues about my behavior in response to their tow of my vehicle as "foolish'. I was upset and I do apologize for the way in which I responded which included sarcasm. I accept that they are probably covered under state law to tow anyone's car within minutes of parking on a Sunday morning when the City of Boston does not ticket at parking meters and the temperatures are well-below freezing. We did not block entrance to the property and parked over to the side, considerate of anyone coming by. We literally went into "Unleashed" to but cat food for no longer than five minutes. However, there seems to be a real financial incentive in the way they interpret the law and by their actions. I support reasonable enforcement of parking restrictions, but their firm is beyond aggressive and reasonable. In some states "patrol" towing is not allowed and I think a responsible company would not engage in such practice. It's disappointing and reflects poorly on our community. I believe it also hurts the overall business climate in Boston. read more

i was coming home today after spending a week at home for christmas. i pulled into my apartment lot to bring my presents in the house because of the blizzard we got there was snow and ice and i didnt want to fall. i brought in 2 loads of things. came out for the third and my car was being towed away by two males yelling at me and whistling. they sped off so fast when they saw me that they launched my car off the side of the curb. like honestly? im moving christmas presents into my apartment for a minute tops. my doors and trunk were open. cost me 143 bucks. told me 140 on the phone. then a different price when i got there. 90 for the towing, 35 for the storage fee(the whole 30 mins it was there) 15 for gas and a 3 dollar surcharge fee? hope these assholes have a great new year ripping off a 20 year old girl who is bringing presents into her apartment. read more

From their "cash only" sketchy business practices, towing legally parked cars, stealing, destruction of property, and overall rudeness and callousness I would give this company a zero rating if I could. Granted, no one likes to get towed, but nobody expects to enter the 8th circle of hell (for you Dante's Inferno fans out there it is the Fraud circle of hell) when they do. this are the rudest bastards they are ripping people off i was parked at the 1-3 mt.auburn st watertown where there is a watertown saving bank and at&t dealer there was only about 3cars parked the signs are all in the back on high posts that you can easily miss and i went to get a check across the street to deposit at the watertown saving and my car was gone i thought it was stolen the at&t employer told me they towed it nobody knew the name finally got a phone # and when i got there they were rude and they want cash had to go atm charged 113 dollars 20 was for a 5 minutes storage the receipt does not macth my car name or year did want want o hear my story they were just wacthing for you to leave and towed right away they are making fast money and taking advantage to make fast money shame on you i heard the owner of the property owns the towing co is that convenient and now all those businesses are going to loose customers like me and many others,i hope they can sleep knowing what they do that money i do not have i will file a complaint against them and i hope you all do and maybe the city will put them out of business read more
