Robertson BBQ is off the beaten path and is in an older, beat up gasstation and honestly, I think this adds to the overall atmosphere and ambiance. The staff here was friendly and engaging and I can say that both the woman at the food station and the woman at the checkout were great. The customers were also friendly. This place had a great vibe. I ordered the chicken here and for my sides, I went with the potato wedges and onion rings. All were excellent. Prices were in line with what you would expect. The half chicken with two sides was somewhere around thirteen dollars and a large iced tea was I believe two dollars and fifty cents. Robertson BBQ is just about ten minutes off of the highway and it is definitely worth the detour. All in all, Robertson BBQ is a fantastic place for barbecue and I would definitely recommend it and I will give it five stars. read more

Our group 12 traveling from Lubbock, TX to Atlanta, GA for a missions conference chose this of the beaten path spot for lunch. This is a hidden gem. It is a short scenic detour off I-20 and well worth the time. The setting is an old gas station and the seating area is small. But the food is all the reviews say it is. Delicious! We had pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, onion rings and homemade strawberry cake. All was very tasty. Others inour group said the ribs, chicken and grilled cheese were equally good. I like to find the out of the way 'mom & pop' spots on our travels. We give Robertsons BBQ 5 stars for food and 4 stars for seating capacity. Try it. You won't be disappointed. read more

For starters, we are on vacation and saw great reviews for this place, so we decided to stop in. When I asked what my meat choices were for the bbq plate, the girl taking our orders didn't give me an answer, maybe she didn't hear my question, but all she answered was, "choose two sides". I went for the bbq plate, still unsure of what meat I'd get, but I was hungry, so no big deal. We were a party of four. We sat and waited for our order, which took a very long time. Food was mediocre at best when it finally arrived. My daughter got her pulled pork nachos first, when she was done with hers, I received my plate. When I was done with my plate, my son got his, his was a pulled pork burger when he asked for a bbq plate. My husband never received his at all. Very disappointing experience. No friendly service, food was sub-par and wait was unacceptable. Other people who ordered much later than us were getting served before us. We would have liked to be able to all eat together, but were served one at a time. We were patient and polite, but this was just not a good experience. Seems they need more staff. Wish we could have had the same experience all these other five star reviewers had, but unfortunately, not so. :( read more

Possibly some of the best BBQ IVE EVER HAD...After a trip to my daddy's hometown of Ralph to bury his sitter at Bethel Baptist, other family members said we HAD to eat here, apparently they are kin.. Man was I blown away!! Absolutely so good it hurt! And I topped off my day with Dreamland In Tuscaloosa and man this was BETTER! Second year - just as good as last year! COVID friendly as carry out only with everyone distancing in line and wearing masks. We ate on a bench in the parking lot since we were on the road and not local. Worth the trip off of 59 to experience some great BBQ and support a small business. This bbq restaurant and carry out is in a gas station but don't be put off by that. The food is delicious and plentiful! The service is friendly. It is mostly a busy take out but there some tables. The food is all types of bbq, fresh veggies and hamburgers. Desserts are offered as well. One thing this family owned business was involved in recently with the community that experienced a bad storm and many people were out of electricity. My succulent, smokey bbq pulled pork sandwich was even more delicious with my side of sweet, crisp cole slaw added on top! The potato logs were so scrumptious on their own or drenched in the house bbq sauce! My husband bit into his phenomenal burger and said, "This is what burgers in the fifties must've tasted like!!". Smoked Chicken is stupid good. Literally nothing will be left but bones. Chicken falls off the bone! Slaw, baked beans and wedges were also good. Their BBQ... get extra. Not fancy or even a real restaurant, small store and gas pump, with very good barbeque. It's about 10 minutes off I 20, easy to get to, no traffic. My wife and I both had the lunch barbeque sandwich special, delicious. The sauce is vinegar base, we both thought it was fantastic, even bought several bottles. read more
