Squeezed us into a booth.

Food was outstanding. Best steaks ever! Thick, tender and flavorful. Baked potato was good too. Fried mushrooms were very good and the service was good too. Salad was a little small. The interior is not luxurious. The wooden chair were hard. No tiles or paint on the concrete floor. The place is rustic. You go there for the food, not the atmosphere. And even though it wasn't crowded, we were told we 'had' to wait for our entire group to arrive before we were seated.

Good food. Good mood.

Visiting Big Mikes Steakhouse was certainly worth the 1 hour 20 min drive to Moundville, Al! We came in on a Thursday around 530 pm and it was already pretty busy. Thankfully, we didn't have a wait and were seated immediately. Our server was very attentive and did a really nice job throughout our meal. No appetizers we just jumped right into ordering our entrees. My mom ordered chopped steak with potato and salad. I ordered a ribeye (medium +) , potato and salad. A medium temperature would have been more enjoyable. The med plus was slightly overcooked to me. I'll remember this for next time. We both enjoyed our entrees but we both needed to go boxes. We also ordered to go desserts. One slice of caramel cake and one slice of carrot cake. I didn't like the caramel cake and the carrot cake was decent. The inside is huge. Great for large parties! There's a patio too. I will definitely return to Big Mike's! My first time coming here was a pleasant experience. Great food & service!

Met some of my boyfriends coworkers here for dinner! Best steaks we have had so far. The boys got the big mikes. I got the filet mignon sos so good! And for appetizers the fried pickles are a must! We also got the loaded cheese fries which were also delicious! If we are back in town this is the place for steak! Great and friendly service! They have a small bar too way in the back to get drinks while you wait for your whole party

Winning an award for your food awhile back doesn't mean you get to start slacking. I ordered a dirty martini, because they have them in their drink menu and literally got one in a rocks glass. I inquired about it for my next drink and was told there isn't a single martini glass in the building. Every table wobbles, the service sucks. Our server forgot our salads, we had to ask for them. A split entree doesn't come split even though they charge for it with 2 extra sides. You can grill a better steak at home. Save your money.

RESTAURANT THE SPOT Big Mike's Steakhouse 384 Market Street, Moundville, AL 35474 So I'm a little late but for my birthday I tried a gem in Moundville, AL called Big Mike's Steakhouse with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Order WILDCAT SHRIMP (Crispy fried shrimp topped with our tangy sweet Wildcat sauce) MOZZARELLA CHEESE WEDGES (Hand-breaded in Italian panko, served with marinara) THE BIG MIKE (24 oz. Mike's favorite ribeye. You better be hungry!) ROOSTER COWBOY (Grilled chicken breast coated in Big Mike's BBQ sauce, topped with bacon & choice of cheese: Swiss, American or Pepper Jack) Let's talk about it! To start, they give you some bread while you wait and it was good. It wasn't anything spectacular but it was a cute snack while you wait on the main meal. The wildcat shrimp is soooo good. The sauce on it is similar to the "bang bang" shrimp a lot of restaurants have. The mozzarella wedges were good but they were a little too cheesy if that makes sense. I can't really explain it but it's almost as if the cheese was too thick. The big Mike was delicious! One of the best steaks I've had in a long time. The loaded baked potato was baked to perfection and those potato wedges were sent from heaven The rooster cowboy was good but the steak would be my go to! However, the chicken was seasoned down and the bbq sauce/ bacon/ cheese blend was everything. The side salad with the meal was just okay to me. I don't have to have it again. If you're ever in the area, def give them a try! The staff was friendly. The atmosphere kinda gives you Cracker Barrel. The wait time was non existent but take into consideration that this was a Thursday evening. I've heard they're crowded on the weekends and some week day evenings. Check them out and be sure to let me know what you think! Tell them #VictheCrit sent you! https://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=oHMOxoVT-HmY2ZDJXoAcvA&utm_source=ishare https://goo.gl/maps/b5EmjYrPQTMbvkF79 https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRg9J58m/

Great experience. Even though it was 6 pm on a Friday night, we were seated quickly. Service was very hospitable and attentive. Food was great and not as expensive as we had expected. We had the rib-eye, sirloin, mushrooms and loaded potatoes. We'll be back!

This spacious, yet quaint, atmosphere is great for an intimate date or a group of friends/family. There were so many amazing options on the menu from various cuts of steaks, seafood, and pasta choices. There were also several tempting appetizers, sides and salads. And please do yourself a favor and save room for dessert! The Irish bread pudding was amazing!!!

Throughout the night, the service was absolutely horrible-- waiters spilled drinks on us, forgot to put our birthday cake in the refrigerator, forgot to bring out sauces that we requested, etc. The menu also wasn't updated online, and some items were not clearly identified. We had a few non-pork eaters that accidentally ordered dishes made with bacon because the menu did not specify. I think the worst part was the handling of a birthday cake that we brought in. First, we asked the staff to refrigerate the cake-- they never did. Second, they tipped the box over, so the cake was smudged all over the side. Third, they threw away the box so we couldn't box up the leftovers and had to roughly fit the remainder takeout boxes. Although I hated being that table that stayed after close, we simply had no choice. Our food, checks, etc. took a long time, even for a larger party.

The wait for our party of 5 wasn't too long and we were seated in a big booth near the bar. Very nice decor, classy but comfortable. All in all, and outstanding experience. Definitely a repeater for us when next we're in town.

Wife wanted a salad and potato skins so went with the wedge which came chopped so more of a chopped salad than a wedge and it was fine. Nothing spectacular. Who potato skins were reminiscent of some frozen ones you heat in the oven. Didn't seem fresh at all. The bacon wasn't that great really and the cheeses was cheese. All in all edible but not enjoyable. I went with the bacon wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes with gravy and a side of Mac and cheese. I'll start with the Mac. It was horrible. Sorry don't mean to be a downer but wasn't good at all. The mashed and gravy a big nope. The potatoes weren't all that good. It was like eating a plat of spackle. And the gravy was horrendous. Made bad potato's worse. The meatloaf was ok. Kind of like cafeteria meatloaf. I did eat it but wasn't thrilled. Again not a fan of that bacon so ditched that after one bite. Personally I would not go back and wife agreed. Maybe we got the wrong items but nothing was good.

Second trip to River Restaurant starts off on a bad note. We arrived at 10:35 a.m. and the inside…read moredining room was only about half full with several empty tables, and the outdoor seating area, which we specifically requested, also had open tables. Still, we were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait. We waited about 35 minutes before seating. Make it make sense. That said, the restaurant sits right along the Black Warrior River, which offers a really pleasant view, especially from the patio. On a cool spring day like today, it's hard to beat outdoor seating here. Tuscaloosa is buzzing with football fans for the annual A-Day spring game, which adds to the energy around town. My better half ordered the shrimp and grits, and I went with the steak fajita bowl, minus the sunny-side-up egg. Even at my age, I can't do the runny yolk situation, I always ask for my eggs over hard. With that change, I'll say the fajita bowl jumped up to one of my top breakfast/brunch go-to dishes in town. Yes, I know it's technically brunch, but it was before 11 a.m., so I'm calling it breakfast. The shrimp and grits were solid, though the tails were still on the shrimp, which meant a bit of extra peeling at the table, my wife wasn't a fan of that part, but she still finished the dish and enjoyed it overall. Only minor gripe on the food side: ice seems to be a rare commodity here, I'd love a few more cubes in the water. But overall, the food was very good, the patio seating is absolutely the way to go, and the river view is fantastic.

As we weren't dressed to the nines. We had jeans and tshirts. This place was laid back. Almost like texas roadhouse vibes but still different. They have oysters for apps and they have other shareables. We went with the fried green tomatoes. They were good. The breading was thin yet crispy. Top off with some ranch. They have a menu with some cocktails, beer, and wine. His aunt and i both had one glass of wine. I did the mascato and she did the cabernet. His uncle ordered the shrimp n grits as thats his usual. The shrimp he just had them grilled and less seasoning. They will accommodate for you. Both his aunt and i ordered the big blue burger. We both went bunless. The burger itself to me with the blue cheese did not need additional sauce. I ordered mine medium, which was fine. I almost wish i said medium rare. The baked potato was good. i tried some of the okra and that was tasty too. We were orig told it would be about a 30 min wait. Which didnt take but 15-20 to be seated. But tonight, we decided to wander off the beaten path and try something new. I went with the Nola Pasta, and my wife ordered the Chef Salad, and let me tell you -- both were absolutely delicious! The place just oozes southern charm, from the mounted deer skulls to the old hand saws, sickles, and what I like to call "vintage farming toys" hanging on the walls. Every now and then, you'll hear a little buzz from the airplanes dangling overhead -- adds a bit of character if you ask me. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. They took great care of us and made us feel right at home. And I've got to talk about those cheese sticks... mercy. They're so good they'll make you wanna slap yo' momma -- but don't do it, she raised you better! Honestly, these might just be the best cheese sticks in Alabama... maybe even the whole South. The dining area was spotless, too. I was half tempted to stake out the next table over, just in case someone dropped a cheese stick -- I was ready to pounce! Bottom line: 43 Prime is serving up great food with true southern personality. We'll definitely be back.
