Size AND amount of sweet potato waffle fries in my order from 6/10/26

After I left the "not so nice" review, I actually called the location. I had a lengthy conversation with the owner. He was nice and patient. Still claimed that everything was always prepared fresh, and I was still a little skeptical. I told him I would edit the review, but I just now figured out how. He offered a refund, this & that, but I didn't want anything...I just wanted him to know. I was SO disappointed and I honestly don't think he can have his eyes on the kitchen the whole time. HOWEVER, I plan to give them another shot at it and this time, I'm bringing a guest and dining in. I don't like leaving bad reviews, everyone has a bad day. The owner was apologetic and extremely nice. So, we'll see you soon. And I'll repeat, their burgers and sweet potato waffle fries, we're the best I've ever had.

We've found the best fries in bham! @ has perfectly thin, crispy fries on the outside with just enough pillowy potato texture on the inside. Think McDonald's fries but homemade and all around better. I absolutely loved the "Elvis" burger which has cheddar cheese, peanut butter and grape jelly. This sounds insane but all the flavors worked so well together. I opted for one patty instead of two but definitely could've gotten two because they're so thin - just how I like them! David got the Foxtrot burger which has two patties, cheese caramelized onions, pickle and Foxtrot sauce and he deemed it our new go to burger place. You order at the counter and then grab a table and wait for your food to be brought to you. Service was friendly and you could tell they wanted everyone to be pleased. Parking was no issue - huge adjacent lot.

Stopped by here to try their food options and settled for burgers and fries. Both were good. This is in a foodie centric area. We have tried several places nearby. This has your neighborhood small diner atmosphere and the staff is really friendly and helpful. This is worth a try.

I am a fan and strongly recommend Whiskey Foxtrot for their burgers and dogs. This is the second location, and I assume it is a locally owned, family run operation. This location is In the Merchant's Walk shopping center at the corner of Highway 31 and 28th street. The setup is very casual; order at the counter, fix your own drink, and the staff delivers food to your table. There is both indoor (main level and an upstairs) and outdoor seating, The dining areas are relatively small with each seating approximately 4-5 tables for four. My lunch today was the Al Capone hot dog. It is their spin on a Chicago dog. It has peppers, pickles, tomatoes, sweet relish, and mustard. The bun is a toasted Hawaiian roll instead of the steamed poppy seed bun usually found on a Chicago. This dog was fantastic; fresh ingredients and bursting with complementary flavors. I would most definitely come back for it. Everything on the menu has a creative name, and the descriptions are very appealing. My friends and I shared orders of tater tots and fries. I thought the tots were very good. The fries are skinny and have potential, but they were a little greasy.

It was hot. It was getting late. We were tired. And it was past my husband's feeding time. Our hotel was almost across the street from his fave - Cookout. Yet, that evening, my sweet guy let ME pick the place. What I wanted, what I really needed, was a good greasy burger. (Good is operative here - Cookout does have greasy burgers). The name "Whiskey Foxtrot" caught my eye and the next thing you know, I was placing my order for the Buccaneer, a double burger topped with pimento cheese and bacon on a potato roll. I never pass up pimento cheese and am I glad I didn't pass up this greasy, messy handful of yum. We shared an order of fresh, shoestring fries, don't miss these. We decided to eat in the upstairs dining room. It was really a storage area with some tables and a tv added for entertainment. And warm air rises - it was toasty up there. The staircase is long and steep, not ideal for a person whose claim to fame is having had 4 knee replacements. The downstairs dining area is tiny but definitely much safer. For 4 years, our son lived within walking distance of WF. He'd never heard of it. What a loss for our whole family.

This was my first visit to this location. I've tried the Hoover location so I was already a little familiar with their food. This location occupies the exact same spot where Homewood Gourmet used to be. The interior wasn't changed much. There's not much room on the ground floor with only 5 small tables, but there's upstairs seating. The Hoover location is much roomier. If there's a big crowd, seating can be a challenge. Parking can also be a challenge because WF is in a small strip mall sharing it with the famous TCBY which has been at that location forever. So if you know where TCBY in Homewood is, you'll know where WF is. I visited with fellow Yelper Paul C and our friend Kenny. We managed to get a table right by the drink station which is right next to the cashier. After placing your order, you get your own drinks, seat yourself and your food will be brought to you. Kenny got one of the wagu beef burgers. He had no complaints. Paul tried the Al Capone hot dog. It was their version of a Chicago dog with peppers, pickles, tomatoes, sweet relish and mustard. He loved it. I tried the Chili Ray Cyrus. The all beef hot dog was cut in half and topped with chili, cheese sauce and chopped yellow onions. It was served on a toasted hawaiian roll. Yom Yom Yom! Warning, like most chili dogs, this can get messy. At times I used my plastic knife and fork rather than try to pick it up. The all beef frank could've been bigger but then they'd have to make the roll longer I suppose. We all shared tater tots and shoe string fries. Both were large portions, fresh out of the frier and plenty enough for 3 grown men. They were also Yom Yom Yom. I'll miss Homewood Gourmet (they made a mean poboy), but welcome to Homewood Whiskey Foxtrot!

    The classic, amazing!

Excellent burgers and the sweet potato fries, to die for! Had to have a second burger

The blueprint and fries I ordered

The blueprint burger was so juicy! Delicious is an understatement. The restaurant is tucked in Homewood in a plaza. The food prices are reasonable. They offer dine-in if you stay and eat, with upstairs and downstairs seating. I didn't dine in. I would go back and try a new item.

The tots were hot and very crisp, delish!

The service was awesome. Friendly! Food did not take long. Ambiance is typical of a hamburger joint or a small Bar. Signs on the wall gave it some character. Of course, the main deal is the food. We had all agreed the burgers at their other location on John Hawkins Blvd was the bomb, taste was fantastic. Ordered the same classic hamburger with bacon here and was so disappointed. The meat lacked flavor, like it needed A1 sauce or something. Maybe the beef patties were left over from lunch, as we were there for a 2:30 pm Mothers Day Burgerfest! Our kids enjoyed their meals but hubby and I agreed this just did not measure up to other location. Fries and tots were excellent though. Fresh & hot like one would expect! Hey Msnager- call your other location and find out what flavorings they spice their burgers with! Next time I crave a good burger, guess what? We will drive out to the Birmingham suburbs of Hoover near exit 10 of Interstate 459!

If you eat here get takeout. It's extremely dirty here. The walls, door, floor, and just the overall atmosphere. Also, the staff is extremely rude.

Whiskey Foxtrot Burger Shoppe is a great place to head towards if you are looking for a greT burger along with some French fries. Walking in, I thought that Whiskey Foxtrot Burger Shoppe had a great ambiance. Kind of a burger dive, but in my opinion, a burger is best enjoyed in some dive type vibe. I walked up to the counter and the guy behind it was okay, though I would say that he definitely did nor want to be there. Hey, we all get like that at times. Like I said, he wasn't rude or anything, it just seemed that he wanted to be anywhere but there. I guess I could be wrong, but probably not. Anyway, soon enough, another guy brought out my food and he was great. He suggested some sauces for my fries and brought me a ranch dressing and their signature sauce. Let me say, the French fries were perfect. Not only prepared perfectly, but seasoned perfectly. The burger (actually there are two burger patties on this) was also very good. The menu was pretty straightforward. Burgers, hot dogs, French fries and tater tots. I will definitely be back.

But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half. The fries were good but a somewhat too salty, the dip that came with the onion rings was excellent and we ended up using it for the fries. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and our meal was $63 before tip for 5 waters, 2 adult burgers, 2 kid burgers, a kid grilled cheese, and a basket of fries and onion rings (I thought I was ordering a "side" of fries, not realizing I actually ordered a basket and it was a lot of fries and onion rings). We don't mind spending money on good food, but the prices here don't align with what you get. No one was more disappointed than me, I've been wanting to eat here for FOREVER!!!

There was no "dragging, greasy" feeling afterwards which is important to us -- everything was fresh. The dipstick was as tender and delicious as could be. The burger is one of the best in Birmingham, if not THE best I've had. And the ECB biscuit was a 5/5 as well. We will be back. Service was fantastic as well as the colorful theme inside.

Now is as good of time as any. I liked the bold, vivid colors of the decor. It made me smile. The staff were....not friendly but not stand offish either. Kinda in the middle. We both felt a weird vibe out of the place. Almost an uncomfortableness that's hard to describe. The guy who took our orders was helpful though as we asked questions about the menu. We both ordered the crustburgers and curly fries. The fries were good but the burger wasn't to our liking. It was very crispy and tasteless. I've had smash burgers before (that's really all this is) and they were just really thin burgers. These were unique in that they were really crunchy pieces of....something. I would not order this again on a return visit, if there is one. The price was around $40 for both of us, another letdown. I don't mind spending more for good food. But this place just didn't live up to the hype for me. However, try them for yourself. I've heard breakfast is a winner.

I'm unsure what the current cost is for the deck, but it's worth knowing if you're visiting during a busier time. I ordered the fish tacos with black beans and chose the cheese grits as my second side. Everything tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. The real star of the meal, though, was the sweet potato cake. It was incredibly moist and delicious. Honestly, I could've eaten four of them without shame or hesitation. My colleagues ordered burgers and fries. They both really enjoyed their burgers, but neither cared much for the fries. They had also requested a couple additional items after the food arrived, but those items never made it to the table. The decor is bright and fun, though it didn't quite seem to match the style of food being served. Just my personal observation. They also have a robot that helps deliver the food alongside the servers, which felt a little unexpected for the casual atmosphere and southern comfort food vibe. They were fairly busy since it was lunchtime on a Friday, but the wait really wasn't bad at all. Would I go back? Yes. Was it my absolute favorite? The hot chicken sandwich itself wasn't overwhelmingly spicy, but it was finger-licking good -- juicy, well-seasoned, and satisfying down to the last crumb. We truly enjoyed every bite. The ambience with its bright green, purple and white colors added to the experience. The restaurant was lively and full of people, which is always a good sign. I also caught glimpses of other patrons' dishes, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked just as delicious as what we ordered.
