After retiring several miles distant, I still do the drive in to Lincoln Dental. I find their fees to be "just right." I've had cavities filled and crowns out on. This time I called with pain on Sat. and an appt. was set up that fit with my schedule. Unfortunately I will need a tooth extraction, and they recommended that I arrange for that closer to home because of the anesthesia. But then they gave me an idea about what to expect, and questions to ask.

Unfortunately, I moved from East Side of Providence to Warwick, so this turned from a 5 minute to a 30 minute commute for me. I figured I should find a dental office near my new place, and ended up at a different dental office. It was such a horrible experience that I called Dr. Konicov's office that same day to ask if they had an appointment for a cleaning. They scheduled me for a same day appointment! While at the other dental office I was told I needed to pay over $700 out of pocket because I needed to get some work done (gingivitis, oral cancer screening, etc...) After meeting with Dr. Konicov and his dental assistant, they let me know that my teeth were fine and recommended a new toothbrush and paste for me. They even gave me the toothpaste for free! It has been a day since I've gotten that advice, and my teeth/gums already feel so much better! I am so glad that I came back to this office, definitely worth the 30 minute commute. Also, since the other dental office filed a claim with my insurance for the exam and x-rays, Dr. Konicov's office offered to reach out to them to get copies of my exam for their reference! I mean I suppose you could, because after my teeth are all clean, I really like the dentist. My hygenist is awesome, their technology is awesome (text messages to remind you of your twice a year appointment? SUPER) and the office is clean and awesome too. Awesome dentist, awesome time. What I really like though the most is that Dr. Kaufman is realistic. The dentists are very professional, answer all questions, friendly, and put you at ease if you are apprehensive. The scheduling is very easy, the receptionists very nice and very professional. They answer questions regarding your dental coverage and always print out a copy of your benefits/coverage remaining. The office is quiet, clean, and the wait for your scheduled appt is usually less than 10 minutes. The hygienists are wonderful, thorough, gentle, and help you feel comfortable. I love the little sunglasses/eyewear they give you so your eyes don't get wet, or so the bright light doesn't bother your eyes- I appreciate this since my eyes very sensitive to bright light. They always call to confirm your appointment which is a good reminder for me. That was what this dentist said to my husband today. We've never been made to feel so guilty for asking questions about our treatment. After several treatments over the last three months, my husband and I are taking our business elsewhere. This dentist has no bedside manner. She might be good at what she does, as far as her dental work goes, but her insensitivity to other human beings overrides whatever skill she may have as a dentist. I'm not sure why other reviewers mentioned that they will work with your financial situation - we've had numerous treatments that she said needed to be done right away (?) and once our insurance ran out, they were not willing to work out a payment plan. Doctor seems rushed - in both my visits, I ended up asking the assistant/hygienist my questions, because the doctor was already out of the room and barely acknowledged me. (But I did get to hear her conversation with her assistant all about her mother and her nursing home while I was convulsing from the pain.) The office staff was nice and helpful, but I felt so uncomfortable with this dentist. I left almost in tears last week. Unless you have full availability during 9-4 hours, it will be hard to get an appointment here and it's really not worth that wait. We found another dentist already that will be taking us tomorrow in the evening hours. (Ricardo Burdiel in Cranston) This doctor seriously needs to work on her communication skills.
