Air conditioner stopped working June 30th at night. Started looking for repair services on Yelp that evening. I live in St. Charles and wanted someone that was somewhat close for service. Most were closed on Saturdays. Found a few that said 24/7 service. When I called them at 5am on July 1, I just got answering services that could not help me. They were just going to have someone get in touch with me. One even said their earliest would be midday July 2. Rob was open on Saturday from 7am to 2pm. Called him at exactly 7am. Rob answered and made an appointment for 8:30am. He came 5min early. He checked out the compressor and said I was 3 lbs low on refrigerant and I probably had a leak in the evaporator coil. He suggested using reused refrigerant at nearly a 50% price break. He also checked for and found the leak for free. I'm hoping the recharge will hold until the fall. I would definitely use Rob again and highly recommend him. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to answer all my questions. read more

I wanted to write a review for Rob's Heating and Cooling. I didn't know who to call when my AC stopped working so I asked my brother who he would recommend because he works with a lot of contractors and he recommended Rob. I checked the BBB to make sure this guy was on the up and up and he had a great rating. Then I called Rob's Heating and Cooling to check on the cost. I didnt have a lot of money but due to these crazy hot flashes I would have agreed to pay anything to have cool air coming out of the AC. I wish I could tell you exactly what it was that Rob did to my AC but I can't. The only thing I can say was Rob came to my home when he said he would be there and told me on the phone that he would work with me on the cost. Rob was professional and courteous. Rob Morgan of Rob's heating and cooling is amazing. Rob is a very knowledgeable man in the work that he does and takes the time to explain to you what he is doing to your unit. The morning my husband and I woke up with no air conditioning was an extremely hot and frustrating morning.We just knew there was no way we were going to be able to get someone out same day and have a reasonable service fee, as we live in a very rural area. When we called Rob, after calling MULTIPLE places to get quotes, he treated us VERY fairly and made it a priority to come to our house same day. After Rob diagnosed the problem with our AC he reassured me he was going to get the parts and be back the very next day to replace them. Rob was at our house the very next day at the exact time that he said he would be. Rob is very dependable and was able to diagnose and fix our air for a VERY reasonable price!! There was NO funny business with Rob and he had NO PROBLEM explaining to me what he is looking at and doing. If U are looking for a down to earth, all around NICE guy, Rob is your man!! I've used Rob Morgan of Rob's Heating & Cooling for various HVAC projects 8 or 9 times over the last four or five years. He is very knowledgeable about all aspects of heating and cooling and does a great job installing new systems. He's also pretty reasonable on pricing and will work with you for the most part to find a fair price. Now unfortunately the bad news: he's completely off his rocker. I kind of realized this the first few times I worked with him, but because he was good at what he does and usually offered that-day or next-day service, I was fine looking past his personal eccentricities. However, after one episode where he flew off the handle and got so angry about some part I didn't describe accurately that I thought he was going to hit me (I'm not super-knowledgeable myself about HVAC repair), I had serious reservations about using him again. But when you need A/C, you can get pretty desperate, so several months later, against my better judgement, I called him again for a regular service call on one of my rental buildings he'd worked on before. Later on the same day he called me back to discuss the repair, and my wife answered my cell phone for me as I was out of the room. She said she was my wife and that she was going to find me and hand me the phone, and asked Rob to wait a moment. I guess this severely angered Rob again, for some insane reason, and he started yelling at my wife, "Don't put me on hold!! I don't like being put on hold!" and started saying other err, impolite things to her, which I heard myself as by this time my wife had handed me the phone saying, "Who the hell is this crazy guy and why are you working with him??" At that point I told Rob that if he ever wanted to work for me again he needed to apologize to my wife immediately. Rob just hung up. Then I realized I had no idea whether he'd completed the repair, or had even started, or what happened, so I had to call him back. After a few attempts, he answered and said HE doesn't want to work for ME (no complaints there) and ranted for a while (screaming) about how I'm either 100% with him or not at all, and nobody should ever question him (we hadn't), and on and on, but by this time I realized he hadn't even been to my building yet. So I hung up the phone and called another company instead. (Affordable Home Care -- shout out! they were great.) This happened about a month ago, May of 2017. Afterwards, I thought I'd wait a bit to see if he'd call back and try to explain what happened, maybe he went off his meds or whatever, who knows. I had worked with the guy for years and spent at least a couple grand a year with him, so I thought he might want to try a keep a client. Plus I wanted to give him a chance to explain himself before I wrote this review, which I felt compelled to do because DEAR GOD I would tell anyone looking for HVAC work, or really just in general, to stay far away from this guy. I have not heard back from him though, which is probably for the best. Anyway, I'm just one person, and this was just my experience (not exaggerated, this is exactly what happened), so maybe he does fine with everyone else, I don't know. However I am a reasonable, normal person who hasn't had an experience like this with any other person working in a professional capacity. So my opinion on Rob's Heating and Cooling (if you haven't figured it out yet): do not touch this dude with a 10-ft pole. There are literally hundreds of HVAC companies in the Saint Louis area -- Affordable Home Care turned out to be a really great option. Use them or someone else instead. UPDATE - 9/9/17: Looks like Rob saw my review & has responded below. I won't comment too much on his response other than to say he never mentioned anything about mold & I replaced any HVAC units pretty much when he recommended. I do not appreciate him putting my address on here, which tells you a lot about him. I have nothing against him personally, I just don't want anyone to go through what I & my wife did. Judge for yourself from our two posts & choose whether to chance service from him or not. Just know that my initial review above is 100% factual. And yes, I do want my HVAC guys to use my freon!
