The office staff and hygienist are wonder and doctor Kent has a great personality but he misses a great deal of possible and potential problems. Losing teeth should never be an option to correction. To be fair, I'm a weirdo who enjoys going to the dentist, but- I really do have nothing but great things to say about this dental office! I've been going to them for about 8 years and have no plans to change while I'm still in New Orleans. The woman who works the office/scheduling always answers the phone with a positive attitude & works with your schedule, and greets you by name with a smile. Hygienists are kind & encouraging of good dental habits- aka they don't make you feel bad when you haven't been flossing! I have not needed a filling or other surgery, so haven't spent much time with Dr. Kent himself, but all interactions have been pleasant. I got a good referral for my wisdom teeth extraction. Also, the chairs are extremely comfortable and face a large window. The office is in a high floor so you get a great view of the city!! There's a parking garage, but it isn't free, so I do recommend coming a bit early to find street parking. read more

Dr Roby is an excellent dentist who can take care of any dental issue that may arise...root canals, crowns, veneers, implants, reshaping, filling, cleaning, or cosmetic work. Dr Roby has done a lot of work to me in the past and I highly recommend him. He does an outstanding job and is super friendly to boot. I don't do doctors but I love dentists!! I've been going to Kent for a year, first to get a crown on a tooth, and was surprised to find that he makes his own crowns and it's all in one day! The hygienist is fabulous, very thorough. The massage chairs and warm towels don't hurt, either. read more

Located on the 7th floor. I hate office buildings, but I found street parking a block away. The waiting area was cozy and updated, and the staff greeted me warmly. The best part though is the view! Totally worth the elevator ride! While sitting in the dentist chair, you get a great view of downtown. Dr. Roby was very personable too. I look forward to my next check up. read more

Dr. Kent Roby is the best dentist! I went a few days earlier to Canatella for a routine teeth cleaning. I was told that a filling I had gotten when I was much younger was failing (that was giving me ZERO problems) and that they wanted to create a custom replacement for over $1,200.00. They sent a free x-ray coupon that I brought, I guess they had to make that x-ray money back somehow. After telling them I'd need to think about it and paying a copay close to a $70 (though I have delta dental) I left feeling quite ripped off. I called a coworker for a referral and she told me about Dr. Roby. I called and was able to set an appointment with Dr. Roby the same week. I showed up apprehensive, as most people do when dealing with the dentist. This quickly subsided when I started talking to his staff. I told them what had happened with my previous dental experience and what they wanted to do. Dr. Roby took a look into my mouth and said what they wanted to do seemed to be completely cosmetic. I did have a small issue that needed to be fixed, but it would be relatively quick. Twenty minutes later I walked out of Dr. Roby's office quite impressed, happy, and with a numb mouth. Best off, my copay dropped to $25! The icing on the cake came a few weeks later when I felt, what I though was, sensitivity on tooth he worked on during my previous visit . They scheduled me for an appointment and I came in for another visit. Dr. Roby checked the tooth and it was actually the tooth in front of the one previously worked on. He then added some desensitizing gel to the tooth and did a little work to remove the sensitivity. When I was going to pay my copay, he yelled no charge!. He did this even though it was a different tooth! Dr. Kent Roby is a great dentist who makes his patients comfortable and at ease in a place most people wouldn't be familiar with those words. I have never, NEVER, had a good experience at the dentist and still weep a little bit when I have to go to the dentist. I visited Dr. Roby after a terrible gum inflammation I was experiencing. I can not write enough good things about Jill (the Dental Hygienist). I am super sensitive and my gum inflammation (I am sure) was hard to work with. She immediately noted my anxiety and really engaged me through the whole process from looking at all of the X-rays of my teeth to putting me at ease during her process. Great dentist. Easy to get an appointment, they actually keep your name on a list in case any preferred time opens up. The hygienist was gentle but effective, Dr. Roby is great. And their chairs are essentially light massage chairs, very neat and relaxing touch and way to differentiate yourself from the competition. Going back in 6 months! EDIT: Just want to say you all should make sure to get that special floss for patients with bottom retainers. Called the day of suffering from a horrible toothache that sprung itself on me last minute- they fit me in for a check up ten minutes later. Dr. Roby was nice, personable, and had me set in under 20mins, I wasn't even late to work! Ill be back for a regular check up since I've def found my regular dentist. read more

Literally. Hands down. No joke. Best dental experience ever. Clean, contemporary office, but doesn't feel pretentious. Awesome view of the city, massaging chairs, soothing music. Staff makes you feel like a frickin' human not a dollar sign. Did not try to sell me work/treatments that I didn't need. Most graceful/careful/stealthy/painless work I've ever had: from the anesthetic, to the cavity excavation/drilling to the filling. Won't go anywhere else as long as I'm in New Orleans... Heck, might even come back just for Dr. Roby's dental care if I move away. In contrast to most of my previous dental appointment, I left pain-free and relieved. I visited Dr. Roby for the first time and was very impressed. He has a very nice office with incredibly friendly staff. My hygienist was wonderful and very friendly. She talked me through what she was doing and took the time to point out what she was looking for in my X-rays. Dr. Roby came in for the exam and was equally nice and friendly. He explained what he was looking at/for and was very thorough. I have visited dentists in the past, who come up with plans to utilize my insurance and bill extra - leaving me feeling like I was being sold a used car. This was not the case with Dr. Roby. He was honest, kind, and very caring. It felt good to leave knowing that I had finally found an honest and trustworthy dentist. Thoroughly impressed. By no means am I embellishing when I say this is the best dentist visit I've ever had. Dr. Roby and his staff were polite. The wonderful receptionist did her best to work with my schedule, even calling me to see if I wanted to come in on an earlier date when she had a spot to fill. Taylor, my hygienist, kept me updated on what she was doing and was very pleasant and comforting. She probably didn't believe me when I told her she was the best hygienist, but I honestly wanted to hug her when it was all over. Massaging patient chairs and a great view doesn't hurt. I'm going to start eating chewing on hard candy and washing it down with mountain dew just to go back sooner (alright, that's an embellishment). read more

I'm very diligent about going to the dentist twice a year and work hard to take care of my teeth because I know I'm prone to cavities. I've been seeing Dr Roby for a few years and really loved my experiences there. But over the past year, I noticed my old fillings turning brown. Dr Roby always said it was nothing. My dentist friend told me they were not looking good at all so I really made a point to ask Dr Roby to check them out at my next visit. At my next appointment, Dr Roby said we they were just discolored but didn't bother to really check them. Couple months later, my filling started coming out. At this point, I didn't trust Dr Roby anymore. I started feeling like he was "cooking up a crown" as my dentist friends suggested. I went to my dad's dentist and he was shocked that Dr Roby let the decay progress this severely. Last week, I had two fillings redone that were almost to the point of needing a crown. This week, two more fillings redone with decay beneath and around all these fillings. My new dentist showed me everything in a mirror and in the x-rays. He was completely transparent with how severe the situation had become. Next week, I have to go back to fill a new cavity. Dr Roby is either negligent or incompetent. He would drag his tool across my teeth but never actually inspect anything. I'm so frustrated that his negligence has led to my current status and that I now may need a crown. I don't trust him and neither should you because I don't believe he has your best interest in mind. I also found out recently he botched my friend's crown terribly. read more

I agree, he's the best. Cool, funny, great attention to detail and very honest. I made my first appointment after some tooth pain had me worried that I had some cavities. He did an xray, said that I didn't have cavities. Then he suggested that maybe some sinus inflammation was impinging on the tooth nerve roots and causing pain. The only thing I remember having to pay for was the xray. This was at a reduced, student rate without my even asking. Bought some advil with pseudoephedrine when I went home and my pain went away. Also! He has some original paintings hanging up that I thought could have been Rothkos. Granted I don't know art very well but still. Very impressive. read more

Very professional and to the point, you're not in the chair for 2 hours before he sees you, the hygienists are personable but don't dilly dally. Dr. Roby has been my dentist for more than 10 years. I drive from another city to see him. Sometimes it takes over an hour to get to his office from my home. The reason I make the trip is because he is the BEST DENTIST I have ever had. He will take care of fitting and installing a crown in (1) visit. He makes sure the bite is perfect! Also, I have had after hours emergencies and he, himself, always returns calls. Don't waste time shopping for dentist. It is usually an expensive nightmare! He really IS THE BEST! read more

I ended up seeing Dr. Roby under not the best of circumstances while visiting the great city of New Orleans. The night before my visit I woke up in the middle of the night with the WORST pain in my jaw. In the morning I began my search to find a dentist who could fit me in as soon as possible. After a few very frustrating phone calls. I ended up calling Dr. Roby's office and speaking with the very kind lady at the front desk who was determined to get me in that day. A few hours later I had an appointment with Dr. Roby. The ladies at the front desk were made me feel better right away by their warm nature and sense of humor as did Dr. Roby.
