No lies. My first visit here was NOT the greatest, but I gave it another shot (no pun intended, but cute) & I'm glad I did. Dr. Wallace Serpas, hereafter referred to as Dr. Wallace, has a warm bedside/chair side manner. He finds the time to be gracious, concerned, comical, cordial, punctual & accommodating of your time. I've been coming here since Hurricane Katrina & it's been a journey; but to date my mouth is healthy & I have this dentist, office & staff members to thank. Making an appointment is easy; as long as Dr Wallace isn't fishing or vacationing (hey, they're allowed to do that ya know) he's in the office working. I can admit, his out of office plans have never interfered with my getting an appointment; as I stated they're very good at accommodating you. Additionally, I love the follow up call or NOW, email, to advise of your upcoming appointment. Let's face it, folks are busy now-a-days & a gentle reminder doesn't hurt. I decided to try CBD Dental Care about a year ago. During my visit, I explained to the hygienist that I had become seriously ill for a period of three months, and had barely left my bed to shower or brush my teeth. I was extremely embarrassed about the visible cavities in my teeth, but the hygienist was reassuring and said she would relay what I had told her to the doctor. A few minutes later, the doctor came in and accused me, point blank, of having a drug habit (she hinted specifically at crystal meth!). I was taken aback, and after struggling to explain myself she said, "I see, so just sheer neglect then?". She then looked at my drug chart and made some offhand remark about anti-depressants. The front desk and admin staff are extremely rude. I felt like I was being talked down to the minute I stepped in. The dentist was alright - got the job done and he was on time. He did however keep pushing that I get my wisdom teeth pulled after I said I didn't want to do it right now, since there's no pain. He told me to get it done now, while I have insurance, and maybe in the future I won't have any. I was in touch with the office staff later about a bill and they had the same rude attitude. Visited the dentist for the first time at this location. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient they were. This is a big deal for me because I really try to keep appointments to one hour so that I can get back to work. The x-rays, the evaluation, the cleaning the flossing, etc. was done in less than an hour. Even while working as quickly as possible, all of the staff managed to work very professionally and pleasantly. The space was clean and not overly fancy and is centrally located in the CBD a few blocks from Canal. There is complimentary parking about two blocks away. I'm sticking with these guys. The doctor was okay but the office staff is beyond rude and unhelpful. I received a bill for more than expected that my insurance said was incorrect. After 5 calls with them, each where they said they would contact my insurance and according to my insurance never did, they sent my bill to collection. I was told on the phone by the staff each time I called they would call my insurance and get back to me. They never did. I was finally able to have my insurance call them with me on the line, but despite my many efforts to resolve this they are now saying I owe double the bill because of their collection fees. I was told the office manager would call me to discuss this and she never did. They are rude, unhelpful, and lie. They do not help, will be rude, and won't do what they say they are. An okay dentist is not worth dealing with them. read more

Dr. Schmidt is a great dentist and the staff have always been great. It's always easy to schedule an appointment. I feel Dr. Schmidt truly cares about my dental health and isn't trying to push unnecessary services or procedures on me unlike other dentists in the area (e.g the ones that send those flyers in the mail). I selected this dental office because they were near my job and home. I was in extreme pain and had not slept in 48 hours, while still working. The lady who presented the treatment options to me was rude and demeaning to me. I stated I was not prepared for the most expensive option she presented, as it included preparations for dental implants, approximately $6,600 for everything (only 2 implants). She started saying "Well if I were me, I wouldn't do a crown and bridge, because you get what you pay for." She totally floored me and I didn't know what to say. Remind you, I'm in massive throbbing pain, sleep deprived state. She continued to talk fast like she didn't have the time for me, yet I'm trying to make a $2,000 option versus a $6,600 decision. She continued to talk down to me and told me to go sit somewhere else while I decide what I'm going to do. Wow! I really was in shock of the poor treatment. I sat back down in the lobby for about 30 minutes and then finally walked out. Do not go to this dental office, as they have no clue what customer service is nor chairside manners. read more

The office staff is terrible. Don't give them your phone number. After trying to book an appointment ,the staff calls my phone more than six times in 15 minutes. While on the phone with them, they continue to call. If I can't take your call and send you to voicemail, don't repeatedly call back half a dozen times like a desperate teenage girl. read more

The entire staff of the office is friendly and accommodating, the offices are spotless and they do their best to book appointments around your schedule. I saw Dr. Wallace today and he was very quick, but thorough. I had a toothache and they fixed it with a simple bite adjustment and I was in and out for around $200, including the xray, exam and the fix. Everyone in the office was really nice and it was a clean, comfortable place that's easily accessible in the CBD. The last dental care provider I went to was pretty bad, so maybe that is shading my opinion of this place a little bit. With that said, I have a tremendous amount of respect for the hygienists that I've seen and Dr. Phillips. The hygienist I saw most recently, Katrina, noticed that I had some sores at the corners of my mouth that have caused me some discomfort off and on for the last couple of years. I had been treating them as cold sores, but she went to check with Dr. Phillips about what it might be. She came back with an over-the-counter treatment option that has since relieved me of the discomfort. She was also very gentle in her cleaning technique, taking care not to crank my jaw open or twist my neck in an uncomfortable position. Previous care providers haven't been nearly as considerate.
