A friend recommended Courteous Canine after their very successful obedience training. The staff there performed a thorough assessment and recommended a reasonable action plan. After the 4 week "board & train", my dog returned with solid obedience skills. She also no longer shows aggression towards other dogs. Her trainer also provided me with instructions on how to reinforce the training on my own. I highly recommend Courteous Canine. Some of the best money I've spent in a long time.

I recently went out of town for a week and I needed a place to take my very active dog. She loves socialization and I knew a kennel would not be a great place for her. I loved that you have to have a demeanor test for your dog before you can schedule day care or boarding. I felt safe knowing that they screened other dogs to make sure they weren't aggressive. I think it was really cool that they put them in play groups depending on their size and activity level. There were a lot of things for the little dogs to play on and a nice big area for them to run outside. They have pools for them to play in the water if the weather is nice. The owner is very nice and the staff was very helpful and didn't get annoyed when i called several times to check on my furbaby. They were honest and told me my dog wasn't eating well the first day, but reassured me that was very normal. When I called the next day they told me she was doing much better and was eating normally again. They definitely could have just left that out but, I appreciated that they told me the truth. Of course she was happy to come home, but I think she really enjoyed being there.

After leaving my dog with them for their board and train program, (3 week program) I ended up Picking him up after a week. Trainer would not communicate with us, except a text every so often with no details. After telling them we would like to know what was happening, trainer would text back, if I sent her a text,..most times the response was limited to one line. They were rude when we tried asking them to give us daily updates, saying they don't have time. They use the 'work for food' way where the dog doesn't eat unless he's training. My dog lost weight while there as he was only fed 3 lbs from a 12lb bag of food. They cut his neck mane so that they could use a shock collar on him (without permission) The trainer also bad mouthed our dog to our breeder (very professional) calling him names. The day we picked him up, Brad Hardin demonstrated walking on leash with him, when my dog didn't do as told, he jerked by a choke collar so hard he yelped. Vet said marks on neck was from a pinch or shock collar, and also underweight from lack of food. We pulled him out of the program after a week, paid $1250.00 (contract said we would be pro-rated in that case but trainer refused to give refund) I was literally scared for my dogs safety and would try to be extra nice while communicating. We were told that At least 2 other dogs in the program at the same time suffered way worse than our dog. Infections, hip injuries, broken teeth! This was my experience with this company. The only thing I hope is that no other dog is harmed. Despite the few good reviews on their fb page,..don't believe what you read. Don't take a chance,...use a different trainer!

So here's the deal. If you're going to be out of town, they will go to your house, walk your dog, and throw in some play time. If you want to make sure your plants don't die, or if you don't feel like putting in a mail stop, that will be taken care of as well. The service is fantastic. I got updates on Facebook of my little ones. As I live far away, I dropped my dogs off at Kimmer's. Thank goodness there was room. The dogs were spoiled. How do I know you ask? Well, I have one dog that will be happy no matter what. The other dog is a rescue and has some personality issues, which is reflected in her being terrified of everything. This little doggie was very calm when I went to pick her up. She let herself be picked up (which is a HUGE deal), and she was happy to show emotion when she saw me (she generally does not do that around people). It's amazing. You can't go wrong with Kimmer's Kennel!
