I attended for years and years,…read morealways in awe of the variety of fine arts and crafts, before I realized this is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for the MAG. Knowing my entrance fee helps sustain such a treasure in Rochester motivates me to attend, even on the rainiest of days! This year's event was packed despite the cool damp weather. Artists and buyers filled the grounds, there were food and beverage trucks, Brown Hound had sweets and coffee, several area non-profits had tables set up (good on you MAG for supporting other non profits by offering free table space!!) and the MAG's own Creative Studio was set up outside with demos and opportunities to try your hand at a craft. Parking can be tricky (the MAG's own lots are used by vendors) but there are paid lots and street parking all around; there are entrances into the festival at the corners of University Ave and Goodman Street, and University Ave and Prince Street. The MAG volunteers are efficient and even a long wait line moves fast, especially for MAG members or those who bought tickets in advance inline (highly recommended). I have been a fan of this event for 2 decades and there is always something new and exciting - definitely recommended!!

This arts festival is completely overwhelming in that there's twenty of each thing you could possibly want! Every local artist participates in this fest, and you can find really whatever style you're looking for in whatever medium you're looking for. My purchase this year was an ornament for the Christmas tree, and I saw some other beautiful eye catching works that reminded me of the extreme artistic talent we have in this city. The footprint of the fest stretches really far, so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to attend for 2+ hours or more if you're trying to do it all. Food options are all trucks or the brown hound cafe. I enjoyed a delicious blueberry ale from Rohrbach as we walked, and enjoyed the beautiful weather and views. If you've never been to Clothesline, you are missing out!

I think that had a huge impact on the attendance. We did find a parking spot close to the festival but other people had to park way down the road past the bridge to park. The other thing that we noticed was that in the years past they offered little cups of free sauerkraut and we noticed that there weren't any signs stating you could even buy sauerkraut except for one place did did have it but it was hot and my fiance doesn't like hot sauerkraut she likes cold sauerkraut but they didn't have any of that. Also they had in the past cabbage bowling which was kind of fun especially for the kids I didn't see that either. We did spend a lot of money on the quarter game.. to help support the festival. We did purchase a couple of fried doughs also. Then we drove down the road to shortsville and ate at Warfield's and had a fantastic dinner. :-) because unfortunately Phelps hotel is closed..

I attended their third annual event this past Saturday and I'm so glad I didn't miss it again. First off, you get unlimited tastings from a selection of 80+ craft beers. Lots of local breweries and some imports, too. My favorites were Oskar Blues Chardonnay Barrel Aged Pilsner, Stillwater Artisanal Cellar Door Wheat Ale brewed with White Sage, and the Petrus Aged Red (tart cherry beer from Belgium). I only started tasting at 8:30 though (it runs 6-10pm) and some that came highly recommended by friends were already sold out. The crowd was very different from the average free festival crowd (this one costs $45-$65/ticket or $10 for DDs). Lots of hipsters in their 20s-30s and only a few staggering drunks. I saw a lot of people I knew from different areas of life. Beer can be a uniting beverage. Besides the beer tastings they had several food trucks, lots of cigars (not my thing), merchandise, live music, and street performers. I followed the soul band Shine to Tap and Mallet after the festival and danced/ate there for the remainder of the night. Tips: take your time, don't finish something you don't like (they have buckets for this), and come hungry/thirsty. Beer is filling and the food trucks are plentiful. Also go early to get the best selection.

The Wayne County Fair makes for a fun evening out. Not a fair you can spend the whole day due to…read morethe size but we spent a few hours out of the house taking in the attractions. Plenty of rides and games available. Local businesses had information booths you could visit and connect with. We also enjoyed the 4H area where all of the animals were on display. The day we came judging had been completed and we were able to see the prize winners. The food vendor selection was your typical fair findings. We enjoyed the birdland popcorn chicken bucket. Huge portion for $10 dollars. We mainly visited for a special fair tasting event: tastes of Wayne county which cost an additional $15 to enjoy. You receive a tasting cup and you could visit as many vendor tables as you like within the closed off area. We ended up purchasing some delicious locally grown popcorn and you could see many attendees leaving with vendor goods.

I have seen advertisements for this…read moreevent in the past and always thought it looked interesting, so I was really excited to check it out this year. I didn't realize that Maker Faires are a worldwide event. The Rochester Faire featured a ton of local businesses, interest groups, colleges, and more. The Riverside Convention Center was the perfect place, as you could walk through the various rooms and hallways to take in all of the booths without it being too crowded. I mean, it was definitely full of people, but the large space made it more manageable to move around. There was food for sale and many of the vendors were also selling some of their works. I had a great time taking everything in! There were so many different creative things to see, from a puppeteer to robotics groups. My favorite was Save Zigby, which was an escape game created by a 4th grader. It was neat to see so many kids running around and engaging in STEM activities. This was a really fun event and great for families and solo visitors like me. I will definitely return next year!

It was our first time here and there was LOTS to see and do for all ages. Two floors of different stations displaying electronics, robotics, inventions, and all creative and techy things. There were defined areas on the map provided to us that were for kids. Our 3 y/o was glued to the main entrance area at the hands-on tables. We stayed longer than anticipated because there were so many things to check out and thankful of the food trucks parked outside the convention center for a quick lunch. Later on we found a small food area in the back of the first floor, but didn't know until we made our way back there. I suggest leaving the big stroller at home and using a carrier for little ones. Try to get there early for this family friendly event so your kids get a chance at the hands-on stations. I anticipate this event will only get bigger each year!

Three days of amazing music on two stages, Charles Wesley Godwin, moe, Tommy Brunetts all star cavalcade and Joan Jett and the blackhearts to name a few! Great seeing Lou Gramm a local favorite. Since it is a whiskey themed event, the world of whiskey was super popular, so many different distilleries showcased. Definitely an incredible experience sampling whiskeys from coast to coast. Iron smoke , Tin cup, den of thrives were some of my favorites. Other options were beers, wine and craft cocktails ... the old fashion was phenomenal! VIP area had a great viewing section and some lovely screwball cocktails... so smooth. Loved the fireside chats they offered, interesting to hear the different speakers talk about their process and love of what they do. Really hope this festival returns next year.. same spot too!!

If rain holds off you see many people you know & can network with. Food bands music drinking and more.
