I think their prices are a bit high, but so is the quality of their food. Having lived in Shrewsbury for many years, I have shopped at all the stores. I like that it i not as big as Wegman's, Price Chopper is filty and dingy, Shop and Stop IS no longer here but was just average, nothing special, Shaws is the worst, dirty, emplyees rude, and the lack of quality of their food quite obvious.I personally like Roche Brothers for their quality and service. Store is clean but it's a ghost town. Prices are through the roof - not sure how anyone can afford to shop here. The cheese counter was really low with a fair amount of fuzzy products on display. I like fish, but in addition to not looking really fresh the prices were ridiculous I rounded the corner and left. I went there because there was a Starbucks but it's gone. This Roche Brother's location is close to my home, and it's basically the only reason I have shopped here a handful of times. Their prices are outrageous. I mean seriously outrageous. And it has nothing to do with quality. The same food item, brand and all, can be found at other markets for much less. Even wholefoods prices can be cheaper. The staff at the checkout counters are also quite unprofessional. One time there were three or four employees sitting on the floor, chatting away. read more

High-end and thoughtfully presented grocery store with impeccable catering, cheese and fresh produce sections! Appetizing sushi-to-go can be even made to order. Fancy exotic fruits were available. The tasty dragon fruits (full of vitamin C) caught my eyes. Free food samples, organic products, exceptional customer service, fair prices, fast check-out, bottle redemption, easy and free to park on the shopping center parking lot, located a short walk from a Panera bread and a cleaner, etc. A Starbucks was inside the store. This is store that has seen better times! Their store baked fresh rolls are worst than the various vendor rolls in their bread department. The grocery shelves are not stocked properly, and the seafood department is over priced, and doesn't measure up to quality and offerings of Whole Foods or Wegmans. I used to be a loyal customer, but no more. Their Sudbury Farms store, owned by Roche Bros, locates in Sudbury makes thIs store look like a lump of coal in comparison. read more

I find that market shopping is boring, but Roche bros. Is as good as it gets. It's clean, organized and they have everything! If you feel like I do,(bored to market shop) you will be pleasantly surprised. Ok their prices are a little higher, but you get what t you pay for. Ok I though i was crazy or something but the review needs to be updated here. I am now SAD to report that the staff in the AM is brutally making fun of their patrons right in front of them. .. I thought it was just me or something but I'm sure it happens all the time. I come here shortly after they open to get coffee at the Starbucks inside... and grab a few snacks and drinks for work. As i was waiting for my coffee to be made, I was looking over at the prepared fruits, as someone was re-stocking them. I grabbed my coffee and went over to grab a container of pineapple. The employee doing the fruit gave me a blank stare as I approached so I greeted him with a warm and friendly "Good Morning" He just looked at me like he was trying to hold back laughter.. and didn't respond....... so weird. so akward. I took the turn around the corner further into the produce section, and another lady produce person with a cart quickly turned her head away and smirked as I offered her the same greeting and a smile. At this point I am wondering if my shoelaces are untied, my fly is down, my hair looks like Edward scissor hands, or I accidentally put on a t-shiirt that says HEY BE RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL TO ME AND I'LL GIVE YA A COOKIE.. Really took my mood from a rare chipper morning to a piss and vinegar one in .3 seconds. I said out loud, "I wonder whats so damn funny" , grabbed what I needed as fast as possible and left abruptly. SUCH a turn off. I did thoroughly examine myself (which why the fuck would I have to-) to see If there was a reason I was being laughed at.... nope I looked seemingly flawless ( not like the big ego kind) I am speechless how horribly rude that was and how much that affected me. Went to Roche Brother's on the Commons for the first time recently and I was pleasantly surprised. Apparently I went at a good time because everywhere I went they were giving away samples of food. I had a great ham and cheese on wheat with some mustard they were pimping and some delicious fresh pineapple. If you want a cheap lunch on your lunch hour, there's plenty to fill your tummy (cheap as in "free"). Roche Brother's carries my Cranberry Necessity, RWKnudsen "Just Cranberry", but its a hefty 9$ dollary plus for 32oz. The reason I buy this juice I am afraid to share because I don't want it to fly off the shelves but if you know anyone, that is sick with just about anything, check with their doctor to make sure cranberry juice is OK and will not interfere with any medical issues or medicines and if its OK, buy this for them. Great for recovering from surgery, skin conditions, lumps of unknown origin, feminine issues and my cousin said his bartender gives them a shot of cranberry before they start drinking so it apparently helps in that area as well. Obviously always for UTI's but this juice in particular, is helpful with so much more. I digress, Roche Brothers also has a lot of natural sections in their food isles and this week, California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizza's are on sale 2 for 10$, usually about 7 each. Yummy pizza! Staff are helpful if you need help getting things into your car but don't try to take them home with you! You may get in trouble for that ... they are super helpful though. Prices seem higher than Hannaford and SS. They don't price match here though - kind of a bummer, but I enjoy the shopping experience in general. read more

I hate grocery shopping, but it's a necesarry evil. That's where Roche Brothers comes in. They deliver! I don't indulge in this luxury very often, but when I do, this is the place. Online shopping is a breeze. Very wide selection, lots of brands. The descriptions are great, so I never have to guess. They deliver everything from fresh produce to household items. Delivery is only $9.99 no matter how large the order. Deliveries are easy to schedule and they are always on time. Drivers are always professional and helpful. Great service for the times I just can't make it to the store. read more

Nice to see some departments have turned it around. I used to go in to get deli meats, and the whole deli display looked horrendous. Old shriveled up hotdogs, out of code products being displayed. Sad but seems like upper management there doesn't walk around and check their stores departments. Whoever is running that deli now has turned that place around very well. I'm happy to say I will be going back there more often! read more

Just good place to shop always clean , but pricey. Wish their prices would come down a bit . But I find Roche brothers very clean.

Clean and conveniently located in the center of town. What isn't convenient however are those prices. They are charging nearly $7 for a quarter of a watermelon. I went today because they are having their "50% off" sale. The price cuts ended up equaling average prices at any other grocery store. I'll only go here if I need one or two things but this will never be my first choice. read more

I drive out of my way to bypass a Price Chopper to go to Roche Brothers. Comparatively Price Chopper has the feel and selection of an expanded 7-11. When I really want something special, I'll drive the Wegmans, but this is my go-to. I can pretty much find what I need, never had an issue with food quality or personnel. read more

Stuff White People(and Asians too) Like: Upscale Grocers. We were always driving into Framingham or down to Bellingham, to go to Whole Foods to get fleeced, er, shop at a high end grocery store. Not to get mathematical but there is certainly a conformal mapping between Roche Brother space RB and Whole Foods space WF. If you have shopped at one the other will not be unfamiliar to you. The differentiator here is that this RB space is a relative minimum from my home while the two closest WH spaces are at a relative max. Some comparisons: * WF has better produce in my opinion. But just barely. * Prepared Foods counter is a wash as is Butcher and Fish Monger. * WF has better salad bars and they usually have a place for you to nosh. This RB has no such thing BUT they do have a Starbucks. * I get really annoyed by the "saver card" routine the other super markets have. At RB they runs specials and you get the discount without another card that clutters your wallet. WF rarely has "true" sale items. * RB does have bulk pricing on Meats. These go in the aforementioned "specials" category. * WF has a better Cheese Section. * RB space is an intersection of WF space and SS(Stop & Shop) space where WF and SS are nearly mutually exclusive. Most times the price of an item at RB is near or less than the price at SS. If you find the same brand name at WF that is carried by SS it will certainly be more expensive at WF. * Staff at RB are down right friendly, at WF, not so much. * RB has the cool half carts that are for those shopping trips in between the big trolley and the plastic basket. but mostly the cost of gas alone makes the RB more attractive for this consumer. read more

This, along with Trader Joe's, is my favorite grocery shore to shop at. It's small-ish but still has a huge selection. They have a good variety of natural and health-food type products, as well some more natural beauty and cleaning supplies. Their cheese section is pretty awesome and they are often sampling food. The cashiers and baggers are usually very friendly as well. Unfortunately, I've moved and there's no longer a Roche Bros near me :( read more

This is hands down one of the best markets in Central Ma, it's well stocked, super clean and the prices are competitive. There is an energy and an excitement to the departments in the first half of the store that makes shopping there a great experience. read more

Not the biggest, not the cheapest, but definitely the best in the area. I may go to Wegmans for non perishables, but for meat and produce this is my go to place. Its great to have a place that you can go to on a Sunday afternoon and say I want a 2.5lb strip roast and they will whip out the primal cut and give you exactly what you asked for. I had been hoping for a long time that this store would really be great. Unfortunately not only has it not lived up to the expectation, it has been sliding down hill for sometime. Part of the problem is Wegmans opening and it beginning located in a shopping plaza that has failed, but they need to take responsibility for their lack of quality. I shopped with them for the first few years, wanting to support the town, but have had problems from the beginning. Their prepared food is great and I love their sushi, but I have gotten bad food many many times. The prices are so much higher than competitors and I could see them justifying that if the quality was also up to par. I've had Ice cream that is rotten and sour, expired frozen pizza with mold, bad fish / meat, and the worst was when I purchased a rotisserie chicken that was raw. Not under-cooked not a little pink, but RAW. I almost served to my kids, but I checked it first thank god. They were great about it and replaced mine with out question. The manager was sweet and was just as horrified as I was. Someone else had tried to contact me but my phone wasn't working and by the time it had been fixed I had no desire to try and have them fix it. It happens, I've under-cooked things before, but chicken is not something you can mess around with. The people who work there are incredible and I can't blame the service one bit. They have been really great every time I've had an issue but the chicken was the last straw for me. Saying I'm never going back doesn't hurt their business, it's not a threat that holds any weight, and I''m not looking to tear them down. They do a lot right and I love their sea food salad (never had an issue with that) But know what you are getting when you shop here and look at your food! read more

Pros: It's convenient (if you're in the south side of Westborough), orderly, and the staff are friendly. Very good customer service. Local, family-owned chain. Some of their departments have an interesting selection. Cons: The convenience value falls flat when you find that they don't have key item(s) you need for your meal, forcing you to drive to Stop & Shop or Wegmans. This has happened to me on multiple occasions, the most recent being this morning (which prompted this review). I needed a large pork shoulder roast for Sunday dinner, and they only had small, prepackaged boneless roasts. As has happened to me before, I was forced to leave the store, drive across town to Stop & Shop, where (to no surprise), I found a large array of roasts to choose from. Roche's are one of the last of the local family-owned supermarket chains (anyone remember Triple-A?), and I would really prefer to patronize stores like this over a foreign-owned mega-chain like S&S, but they simply cannot compete when it comes to product selection. Examples like the one above really force me to plan ahead and drive to a larger store for anything more complex than basic shopping, which greatly reduces the convenience value for me. read more

I love this grocery store. They have the best customer service in the area- people are so helpful and professional, in addition to the store being very very clean and organized. It's very easy to navigate. Fruits and vegetables are at the fore-front as you walk in the door. Roche Bros clearly understands wellness and promotes health habits! Every extra penny I pay for the fruits and veggies in this store is well worth it. If you are new in the area, go sample the new products on Saturday --you'll not be disappointed!. This is one of the few grocery stores where it seems the employees are actually glad to be there....woah. The interior is actually pretty nice, has this calming IKEA vibe going on. Definitely has some of the freshest and highest quality produce, especially compared against Shaws/SS/Pricechoppa. This would be my first choice of places to loot in case of natural disaster and/or delayed human extinction. Go there after 7pm when the herds of metrowest soccer moms and Lexuses are gone. read more

Generally ok, but nothing to write home about and Wegmans, new in Northborough, offers far more. Seafood is good--but really expensive. There is no fresh bread which is sad. Several cashiers have such thick accents it is really hard to understand them. Just simply could be better with a little tweaking. read more

I found this place pretty well managed. Their food was well packaged and every employee was oh so kind and happy to serve. The reasons (2) of which it was not 5 stars, is 1. I asked for 6 chicken thighs w/ bone, the man gave me 6 chicken cutlets. I said I wanted chicken thighs w/ bone, he asked how many and I said 6. He packaged it while I left to look at some cheese. I came back and notice it is a bit small, but I just shrugged and go like whatever and move on. I go home and notice he only gave me 2! The second which is pretty judgemental, but will help service in this place is cart pushing. In the Wellesley Roche Brothers in Linden Square, after they bag your groceries, the push the cart following you to your car. I really enjoyed this but did not find the same here. They should follow the Wellesley branch and do this, people will really think of this as an act of great management. The meat scenario is what really annoyed me though, but I do love this place. I recommend this place all the way, it is an awesome place. read more

Everything here is fresh. No looking for exp dates like at Stop and Shop. Almost all the employees are friendly and nice. Butcher shop is my fav with some awesome food and great guys back there that know there business. Its expensive so I don't do all my shopping there but if you want first quality and things that other stores don't have, try it. read more

I love this store for if they don't have what you are looking for just give them a call. If it is in there warehouse they will have it in the store for you in days.`I was looking for a certain item on a Tues and the manager said that they did have it and it would be in the store for me on Fri and it was. I have never had that kind of treatment from any other store. The help there are the best and very friendly. I hope that they don't close now that Wegmans is in Northborough for I have gone there once and they carry mostly of their own products. I am fussy and like certain brands that they don't carry and the way the store is set up drives me crazy. It is way too big for me and they customers are very rude and pushy. read more
