Went in there to get a birthday cake. The gentleman at the bakery was wonderful. Couldn't ask for a nicest guy. He was kind and courteous. However, the cake itself that's a different story. Very rarely do I end up having to get a rain check of any kind from this particular store chain they usually always have what I'm looking for in stock all of these departments are clean freshly filled there's enough employees in the store to ask any questions whatsoever and be able to find what you are looking for. I have not had a problem getting anything I want it in the sale flyer and that's very important to me when I go shopping at a grocery store I know there is a chain issue with items but it doesn't seem like this company has a problem with it. I had clipped e-coupons to my Price Chopper card for the current sales week. I went in on Sunday morning and purchased the items with the requisite quantities. After buying the items, I was checking the receipt. NONE of the savings were deducted! So I went to the courtesy desk. A nice but mousey woman came over. I explained what had happened. She didn't seem to know what to do. I had to explain a second time. She then took the sales circular and started looking at it with my receipt next to it. She did that for a few minutes when she then stepped over to the other side where she continued to stare at the circular. After 5 minutes, I asked, "How much longer is this going to be?" She did not answer at all. So, I went to the podium at the self-checkout to fetch the woman stationed there. I had told her that I had thought the woman at the desk needed help. So, I then told the "new" woman about what happened. Get this!! She says that they recently updated their "app" and that the "problems are now being found out." Mistakes are being made and that "it's not their policy to reimburse". WHAT THE FUCK??? I then spoke with the manager and went through the whole thing all over again. Again, they don't reimburse. I had to explain to the manager that this is clearly bait and switch, which is illegal!! She then said something about making an exception for me. WHAT THE FUCK?? I had was NOT an exception. I had clipped the coupons to my card for the current sales week. PRICE CHOPPER WOULD NOT FIX THEIR PROBLEM!! THIS IS STEALING! FUCK PRICE CHOPPER and the management! I intend to file a complaint with the state attorney's office because of the bait and switch. I will no longer shop at Price Chopper, which is also the only supermarket in the area that charges for bags. read more

Updated review March 2018 Price Chopper is consistently understaffed in the cashier/checkout areas. On a Sunday they only had 4 registers open (other than 15-express and self-checkout) and at the 4 registers there was only a single person doing bagging. If you go in the afternoons you will find a lot of empty shelves or out of stock (especially sale) items. The Deli eliminated all its salads. Fortunately the service at the Deli seems to have improved. read more

While traveling to the Cape we wanted to grab a snack as well as use the bathrooms, so we decided to stop at this Price Chopper. We have shopped at a few different Price Chopper locations and this has to have been the best to date. The store here was packed with a ton of items as well as some perks like Starbucks. The produce here was incredible and the prices were inexpensive in comparison to other grocery chains. The staff here was great and we ended up buying exactly what we needed. the dairy and frozen aisle is typically clogged with stockers blocking customer traffic. They have like 3 trucks back to back in the middle. Then they're blocking one side of the trucks while they are stocking the shelves. Try politely asking them to move so that you can get the items that you want with impatient customers on your ass. why can't they be stocking the shelves overnight. the meat department's weekly specials are not stocked enough. when something is sold out at the moment, they move other meat into that space. if it's a different cut of the same meat, you have to double-check the price to see if it was what you had wanted. GET THIS: As of 7/13/20, this location is back to charging for paper bags!! The government precludes customers from bring reusable bags and have to use the paper bags. SCREW YOU, PRICE CHOPPER!! This is just WRONG! All other stores in the area provide free plastic or paper bags. I will NOT shop at Price Chopper again until I can bring my canvas bags into the store again. read more

This store is A-OK in my book. They excel in having the friendliest, helpful employees who go out of their way to simply ask, "Can I help you?" Don't expect to be blown away by an abundant selection of prepared foods (they do offer some, just not Wegman's over-the-top selection) and gorgeously displayed produce (they have plenty, it's just not artfully displayed). Price Chopper does have a small Starbucks tucked to the left when you enter the store, so you can always sip and shop. It does have a nice bakery with delicious bread (garlic, rosemary, sourdough) and sweets. It also has a florist department for prepared and freshly cut flowers. For wine/beer you'll have to go across the parking lot to the Vin Bin. A RedBox is located just outside of the store. Price Chopper has no pretense to be anything other than what it is. It is a grocery store that offers a fine selection of products to meet most shoppers needs at a reasonable price. Come here because it's convenient (open 24-hours!), affordable (not Aldi's low; not Whole Food's high), and refreshingly friendly. read more

I go to Price Chopper weekly and it can be hit and miss with the customer service throughout the store depending on who is working. One week you will get great service at the deli or meat counter and the next week you will be all but ignored. I always use the self checkout lanes and again, it depends on who is working if you need assistance. A few weeks ago, I bought some blue cheese dip and when I got home I noticed it had a "use by date" of early March. I took it back 2 days later and they refunded me with no problems. I will continue to go to Price Chopper since it is close and convenient but I sure do miss Collella's. read more

In lieu of the civil war that brought Market Basket to it's knees (which, we will hopefully all be looking back and laughing about by the time anyone reads this), I thought it would be a good time to throw up a fast account of our experience with Price Choppers. Like many others, the MB walkouts/strikes/BS forced us to look elsewhere for weekly groceries at a decent price. After a couple meh experiences with other local options (wegmans... ugh), we found ourselves hesitantly standing outside the doors to Price Chopper, biting our lower lip. But our anxiety quickly dissipated as we walked in. While the store is a good deal smaller than most super markets we've been to, we found that the selection is quite satisfactory. We found no shortage of fresh produce, meats, and other essentials (unlike other alternative/hipster stores like Trader Joe's and Wegmans who emphasize novelty/specialty items over fresh basics). Prices varied, but we found that they are roughly on par w/ MB, with a little give or take. For example, cherry tomatoes were significantly pricier at $3.99 a package, but actual cherries were much cheaper at $1.99 a pound. Plenty of well labeled organics, and gluten free items too... for those who can afford that kinda lifestyle (see: not me). Or you know... Celiacs. Despite the somewhat limited floor space, we found everything we needed. From well priced ribs, to specialty flour. We also found the staff to be friendly and helpful (you're sweet for offering, but I can get my groceries to my car :) ), which is impressive, cuz it was fairly late (24/7 hours!). The store was clean, well lit, and well stocked. The final tally was $87 for a week's worth of groceries, which is what we woudl pay at MB. The simple truth is that once the dust settles at MB (and assuming the results are favorable), we will probably go right back there... but not exclusively, since the PC hours are great, and the location is favorable to us. And if things do go south with MB... then we can sleep easy knowing that we have a place to go that has everything we need, and that checkout won't include a visit to the layaway counter. read more

I needed a cake for my daughter's high school graduation and I had heard that Price Chopper makes beautiful, delicious and affordable cakes. I have never shopped at Price Chopper so I didn't know what to expect. The store is very clean and the staff is courteous and helpful. I met with Rick who is the bakery manager and told him what I was looking for and he was eager to help and extremely patient. He provided me with pricing and contact information as well as a few samples to bring home so that I could get my daughter's input. I had ordered a half sheet yellow cake with buttercream frosting as well as 48 chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting-which included a stand to display the cupcakes. My husband had picked them up, so it was not until I began setting everything up that I noticed that the stand and the small cake that was to sit upon the top of the cupcake display were not included. I called the store and spoke to Rick-who knew right away why I was calling. I was stressed out and very upset, not to mention that we were pressed for time as the party was to start in 20 minutes and it would take me at least 40 minutes to get there and back. I'm sure that Rick could hear it in my voice because right away he asked me for the address so that he could send someone to bring the stand and cake to me-I wasn't expecting that! A young man appeared just in time with cake and stand in hand-I was blown away! Aside from the mix-up, the cakes and cupcakes were delicious!! The cake/cupcakes were moist and the buttercream frosting was heavenly! They were a big hit and all of our guests commented on how scrumptious and beautifully decorated they were. I will definitely go there again for my next function, not only because of the delicious cakes, but because of the exceptional customer service provided to me by Rick! read more

A great local place for good options in organic and gluten-free, healthy and low-priced as well as quick fix for dinner and last minute options without giving up your diet. Huge bakery, produce and freezer section which is the ideal for those watching preservative and salt intake. And I love that it's 24 hours because as a mom trying to negotiate the family it is nice to technically get a break at 2 AM and shop by yourself. Don't forget your card :) save on gas. read more

For restaurants I always put a disclaimer in my reviews that I'm vegan. But I cook meat for my family, so that's not a factor here. I was disappointed when I learned the grocery store opening here was a Price Chopper, but that was based on my experience with the Price Chopper in Troy, NY, which was the closest grocery to RPI, where I went to grad school. This Price Chopper is nothing like that, though to be fair, it is brand new. I haven't yet gone here for a regular weekly shopping trip, so I can't really judge their completeness. I did strike out looking for arborio rice to make risotto, but they did have dried Porcini mushrooms I also needed for that dish. As an aside: why do they need dozens of varieties of "easy minute rice", pre made rice pilaf, rice-a-roni, and that abhorrent Uncle Ben's "Converted" rice (converted into what?), but they can't stock arborio rice, or even a slot or two of other great rice (just rice!) choices? I'm kidding. I know why. People love "center of the store" packaged and premade foods. I've been surprised more than once at great specials on meat. I have a freezer drawer full of BOGO ("buy one get one free") ham steaks. My kids love them with an apple cider brown sugar glaze. (Thank you America's Test Kitchen) [btw, buy one get one, aka BOGO, must mean "buy one get one FREE". You can't say "buy one get one half price". That's not BOGO. I'm looking at you Kohls!] I haven't bought a lot of produce, but it's been fine so far. Cucumbers are 2 for $1, which is half the cost at Stop and Shop. Since cucumber slices sometimes stand in for a vegetable with my picky kids, I buy them a lot. Time will tell if they keep it this way, but more than a few months in, this store is still spotless. And I've found the staff consistently friendly and helpful. I always use the self checkout, and find the scanners are less finicky than those at Shaws. (again, maybe just because the glass on them is new and clear, rather than scratched and hazy.) read more

I have heard great things about Price Chopper and wanted to finally try grocery shopping as I was in the Hopkinton-Milford area. This store sits in a large space, that all I remember as being nothing when I used to come out this way more often, years ago. It's located on West Main Street at the South Street intersection, just west of the I-495 Exit (exit 21B to W Main in Upton). In addition, there is a small mini-plaza right in the parking lot of this place with a few restaurants and a hair cutting place. The store, Price Chopper, recently opened one of their "Market 32" stores in Sutton MA, which I stopped at last year. Since that new store was amazing, I thought, how great could the original Price Chopper be? Well, it's not as clean or modern as Market 32, but this location is still great and has some major perks for anyone in the area, and needing anything you'd find at any supermarket. PROS: 1. Self Checkout. It's quick, fast and friendly 2. Friendly staff. The guy working at self checkout and the lady working in the paper goods aisles were both very friendly, helpful, and kind to me and the rest of the customers while I was at the store. 3. Starbucks. Everyone love's Starbucks and when there is one inside anywhere it's just a plus! 4. Clean and organized. Maybe not remodeled like the place in Sutton, but still somewhat renovated, clean, and always organized and well signed throughout. 5. 24 Hours. Rare quality to find and one of the only places in the area open 24 hours. If you are looking for anything late at night, this is the ONLY place open in the area (there aren't any 24 hours stores anywhere nearby, except this!). 6. Only grocery option in Hopkinton. Before this store opened, people living in Hopkinton 7. Checkout. Even though I'm dead set on going to self checkout anytime I can, the checkout lines here are barely ever long. They keep more than enough registers open and have things prepared, since the store gets quite busy. Good move to make, by Price Chopper. Some other grocery stores have so long and annoying lines and aren't ever prepared! CONS: I'm quite picky whenever I go anywhere, but to be completely honest, this place has NO downfalls. The only downfall (that really doesn't even count) is how mad I am that this is the closest Price Chopper to my house in Westwood!! (If anyone from this store or from corporate is reading this, PLEASE add more locations closer to me, in any of the Boston suburbs!) In closing, great grocery store and perfect place for anyone living in / visiting Hopkinton or the surrounding area. 5 stars for Price Chopper! read more

This place isn't bad. I do first want to say that it isn't any cheaper than regular markets such as Stop and Shop. I absolutely love how this place is 24/7 (that's what bumped my review up to 3 stars). I love places that are open during the hours of 11pm-6am because I mess my sleep schedule up a lot. Here they have more of a variety of stuff than what I've seen in most markets. They are missing a lot of common items here, they didn't have heads of lettuce or pita chips. The fruit and vegetable sections are lacking. I wish I could tell you about the hot food, soup, deli, meat, and seafood sections but those were all closed when I went. They did have their regular pre packaged meats out. It's almost pointless to have a market open 24/7 if the deli, meat counter and seafood counter are all closed. That really pissed me off. I would have given this place 4 stars if they had those sections open. I noticed a lot of things didn't have prices on them or like hanging off the shelf. It actually prevented me from getting a lot of stuff. I saw a price checker, but only saw 1. They should add more of them. The staff here is nice. I didn't have the savings card so the cashier let me use the store one since the service desk where you apply for the card was closed (o look ANOTHER thing that was closed). I probably wouldn't come back here especially since it's kinda far away from my house. read more

By far the best super market in the area. Not only is the store always clean, organized and well stocked but the staff there are top notch. Always greeting with a smile and not afraid to strike up a friendly conversation. Always willing to help or if lines are long they will personally help you in the self checkout lines. I am exceedingly impressed with the operation at this location and am lucky to be near here for my shopping needs. read more

I shop here often although I find them to be higher price than any other local supermarket, it's on my way home so yea. A manager once told me when I moved to this area that Price Chopper alters its prices based off of location. So with Hopkinton being a rather middle to upper-class area their corp decided to get more money from us by raising prices based off location. It bothers me everytime I get charged even more for bags. I started this new thing where I take my basket outside, load my groceries and leave my basket outside. They can shove their .10 and some employee can get it for having to go get the basket. Follow suit people, better it go to our workers of this country than this corporation who's to cheap to give you a dang paper bag without handles. Remember the days...paper or plastic? Yea they were free before this plastic bag ban so why aren't they now that this company no longer has to purchase plastic? Hmm read more

This is a relatively small store for a modern supermarket . It is well maintained with a reasonable amount of products for it's size. Price Chopper drives me crazy because they will not accept my phone number for their savings. There is a limited amount of space in my wallet for cards. They want my license number instead. An employee told me that everyone knows their license number but not their phone number. Really? Haha. Anyway it is hard to like a store that purposely acts like it is working against me. read more

The cashier offered me help with taking my purchases to the car. Please note that I have never reviewed a supermarket nor am I a fan of supermarkets in general. In most cases I just want to grab my stuff and get out of there as quickly as humanly possible.. BUT i felt like i had to review this particular Price Chopper because of the way the employees are soo friendly when you walk in. I think I was greeted by 2 people just on my way INTO the store from the parking lot. Everyone is just very cheerful and helpful and I've walked out of the store with an actual smile on my face (not a small feat for someone who HATES grocery shopping..). Prices are reasonable (in line with the other local supermarkets), I just think the employee 'greeters' go above and beyond and make you feel good when you come into the store :-) read more

Good prices. They have a butcher. All the employees either try to help me or say "Have a nice day" whenever I walk by - it's great!

1. Their prices are significantly higher for many of the items I frequently buy from Wegman's. 2. The customer service sucks. I was next in line when a nice kid enthusiastically said "Oh, come with me. I can help you right over here." He then walked me to a self check-out and walked away to go do something else. Unbelievable! Usually I don't use the self check-outs because I feel that if supermarkets are going to take minimum wage jobs from people in this economy, they can at least pass some of the savings on to the customer...and Price Chopper certainly doesn't. 3. When I don't need any specialty household items from Walmart, I always use Price Chopper in Hopkinton. The people that work there are very friendly and always greet you with a smile. I've come here a few times on my work route to grab lunch. Pizza and sandwiches are pretty good, actually.. but JESUS. I've never been in a place where the workers make you feel so unwelcome. They must not be getting paid very well because they're all so miserable. A guy was very rude to me because I wanted a sandwich and he was cleaning the sandwich area.. like sorry.. it was 2pm not like it was closing time. Don't expect any smiling faces in this place. At the time, Price Chopper could not accommodate but Julio referred us to a local meat market which fulfilled our order. But our favorite is Julio in the meat department. He will cut our rib eyes just the way we like them. Their steaks are the best steaks that we've had. They far surpass any steak house steaks.
