They are just trying to get your money. Absolute insanity for prices they quoted on "fixes" that "had to be done". We went here because we had a coupon for an oil change and tire rotation. They informed us of a list of things that needed fixed. We took it to a trusted place just outside of Rochester and was told the issues did not need fixed. We were quoted $3300 to fix the control arms because they were cracked. After a second opinion, the area that was cracked had nothing to do with the integrity of the control arms or the safety of the vehicle. Even if it had, we were quoted $888 for it to be fixed at this other place. There were several other things like fluid flushing we were told to do, also. Again, our more trusted place said it did not need to be done. We have only ever been fed extra charges and fixes that are not necessary from this place. Highly recommend staying away. read more

I recently shopped for a used vehicle at Tom Kadlec Honda. While I was treated well by the salesperson (Neal) I can't same the same for the sales manager (Tony). I asked if I could put money down on my selection for them to hold it until I received the money from my mutual fund (this was a cash purchase). I was told by the sales manager that if I wanted to give him a thousand dollars he would take it but there was no way he was going to hold a vehicle for me. He stated he was in business to make money and sell cars, because they had debts to be paid. He told me I needed to finance the vehicle until I received the funds. He was very condescending and treated me like I was a thief! I walked out because I was so upset. I believe if I was a male purchasing a vehicle I wouldn't have been treated like this. Female car buyers, do not do business with this nasty person! When I complained to another sales person, he told me to send an email to the general manager regarding how I was treated. I did send an email several weeks ago and haven't had the courtesty of a response. If this type of behavior is condoned by the leadership at Tom Kadlec Honda then it is not the place for a woman to do business! read more

Using their body shop was an absolute nightmare. They told us they're need our car for 5-6 days and it's now been 20 and they're telling us they need another 8-9 days. And all this time we are paying for a rental car. And all we needed to have repaired was the front bumper and washer fluid tank. It was a very small job that was less than $2500. They are completely unreliable and unprofessional. Never will we do business with them or their car dealership again. Save yourself the frustration and money and go elsewhere. read more

I had a poor experience shopping for a car here. Initially it started with no follow up from the first salesman I worked with, which was two months prior to the recent search I had. Next/recent car: Given how the market is, I put a hold payment on a car. When I spoke with the General Sales Manager I stated, I want my money back if I don't like the car. He said that I absolutely had to be 100% committed to the car and went off on a rant. I am embarrassed to say that I told him he was a rude and it didn't even seem to phase home. I stated I am not 100% committing to a car that I have never driven before. (I was super surprised by how he spoke to me given the fact that he is the General Sales Manager - maybe he was having a bad day, but WHOA - he was an example on what NOT TO DO when trying to make a sale. It was shocking!) The salesperson I had been working on for this car returned to the office the next day. He called to button up the hold and I was asking him questions about the car, as it was a hybrid and I didn't know anything about hybrids. He then stated to me that he didn't know much either and made no offer to find someone who could. My impression was that he wanted my credit card info and to get off the phone and move on to something else. I got off the phone and thought, I don't want to buy from a business that works like this. On top of it, they came in 35% lower on my trade than the next trade offer from other dealers. (Not kidding - 35% lower!) I sent a note letting them know I wanted my deposit refunded and they asked why and I told them about my buying experience. The response from the salesperson was "deposit refunded" - absolutely no acknowledge or apology for their poor customer service. I really wanted to buy local, but with the lack of service and respect I received during the sales process, it was a complete turn off. If you're trading a car, be sure and shop around to ensure you're getting the value of your car. It was really a bummer experience. read more

I'm very disgusted and disappointed. I purchased a truck at your dealership barely over a month ago and I already have a blown head gasket. Nothing like Shelling out thousands of dollars for a truck for repairs around the holidays right? My wife and I and 1 year old daughter spent an hour stranded on the side of the highway on Thanksgiving Day because of the truck. Makes me question how well you actually check your vehicles? I drive an Acura. While on a road trip, in the middle of a thunderstorm (evening in the middle of nowhere) the drivers side wiper blade quit. We were 5 hours from Rochester and arriving after midnight. We immediately looked for a Acura dealer in Rochester (there are none). I called this dealer 15 minutes before they closed to see if there was any way they could service and if we could get in. The scheduler was able to squeeze us in first thing the next morning. We were prepared for $$$. It ended up being a loose bolt. They had us in and out in less than 15 minutes and did not charge us anything. And they did a courtesy wash, which was a nice bonus (we were bug covered). MANY thanks for helping us out in a pinch. read more

This experience was a positive experience and just a day and night difference between this one and going to some little no name dealer company in the sticks. Tom Kadlec has nicer vehicles listed at decent prices and they will work with you and make sure that you are sure and really confident in your purchase. I was helped by Kevin DeCaluwe and Luke Scharrer. I bought a black chevy cruze yesterday. It has only 57,000 miles, and I like that it runs smooth and that I can rely on it to get me to work each day. This review is for the sales department, specifically Tom Betzen. Our first introduction to Tom Kadlec Honda was showing up 10 minutes after they closed on Memorial Day weekend; we didn't know they closed at 5pm :-/. Tom was kind enough to walk up to us right away, introduce himself and asked if he could help. He then showed us an example of the car we were interested in on the showroom floor for the next 30 minutes. He didn't rush us through all the details because we showed up late. He offered us his card to call and schedule a test drive at a convenient day and time for us. A few days went by and I contacted him, amazing! Most of the time the car salesmen would have called me several times by then. We scheduled a good day and time to meet up and he was waiting for us upon arrival ready to give us a test drive. He was very thorough and explained everything! He pointed out little things that I wouldn't have even of thought to ask and I appreciated him taking the time to do it! Unfortunately on the day of the test drive we weren't ready to buy and needed to wait at least a week. Tom just asked to keep him updated and let him know when we would like to purchase the vehicle. He never bothered me during that week's time until I reached out to him to give him more updates. I really appreciated him trusting us that we were interested but had a timeline that we felt comfortable with. He really respected our wishes and wanted us to be happy and comfortable at all times! When we decided to purchase the vehicle I really wanted a specific color but they didn't have it in stock. Tom told me not to worry about it, that they would make sure I got the color I wanted in a couple days time. Sure enough, they were able to have the car delivered in 2 days! One thing I ALWAYS appreciate is presentation, and from start to finish Tom made every effort to present Tom Kadlec Honda in the best light. When I went to pick up my car he had it washed on the outside and cleaned in the inside. After we bought the car he spent an hour walking us through all the features, setting my phone up with Bluetooth and apple car play. He answered ALL questions and never once rushed us out even though I think we were the last people in the building. Amazing customer service, above and beyond! I'm very happy with my purchase and love my new car! I would highly recommend Tom Betzen to all family and friends and plan to come to him again for future car purchases! THE. WORST. SERVICE. DEPARTMENT among all Rochester dealers. A Service Department consists of completely incompetent, unskilled and unprofessional members. Add lack of accountability to that and you have Tom Kadlec Honda of Rochester. They seem to have a lot of turnovers among service personnel which continually add untrained service employees. A simple Battery replacement job for my vehicle has turned out to be a nightmare at this dealership - something any local auto parts store could do in less than 10 minutes. The sales team is fine but the only thing the service department seems to be good at is an Oil Change, anything beyond that will likely be crap-shoot depending on who you deal with. You can buy your Honda vehicles here with a prayer that you'll never need to service it by them (warranty or otherwise). I am stuck with an Extended Warranty without a dealership. We will never buy another Honda again until we have access to another dealership within a reasonable distance. What a nightmare. read more

We just bought a used Honda from Tom Kadlec, mostly with the aid of Chris Leitz in the service department and Byron Call in sales. Chris introduced us to our wondeful salesman Byron who went above and beyond for us -- even though our purchasing power was relatively modest, he treated us as if we were about to drop 100k on a brand new vehicle. Byron let my wife test drive two vehicles and he sat in the back, adeptly answering our numerous, often times redundant questions. Byron knows these vehicles through and through; he stayed long after his shift was over helping to put our minds at ease. He genuinely came across as someone who loves his job and enjoys interacting with others. Above all, he was not pushy which we appreciated very much. Chris in the service department was able to print out a detailed service report of our car as well as provide us with typical maintenance problems that a car with our mileage would exhibit later on. He also helped put our minds at ease with our purchase and quite frankly sealed the deal for us. I would go to these two individuals again without thinking twice. I hope Tom Kadlec takes note of the excellent customer service we received, keep up the great work. FYI - the only reason I omitted a star was I felt the price I received was "fair", but certainly not "good" or exceptional. They do have some negotiating room on used cars and sometimes I just prefer the dealerships that advertise a lowest sticker price. Also, being that we just purchased the car, I will update this review to reflect any additional correspondence I have with Tom Kadlec should we run into any car issues in the future. I would rate zero stars if that were an option. Terrible experience. This business gave me the run around over a simple key fob replacement. First, they failed to call me to schedule the appointment to program the fob once they received it. Second, they took over an hour to program said key fob-which is completely ridiculous. The communication guy told me that every part of my engine needed work: "your battery is bad, your tires are bad, your brakes are bad, your transmission oil is bad, there is no oil showing in the dipstick"...the list went on and on. All of those items had been either replaced or checked within the last several months; so I doubted his statement. Then he contradicted himself-showing me he was simply lying-by admitting that the brakes had not been checked at all. Then he got rather stern with me while he preached about transmission fluid. All this time, I was attempting to keep my son, who has autism, from having a complete meltdown. Meanwhile, I was late to another appointment because Tom Kadlec took so long. The cost of labor to program the key fob was about $100; I assume most of that cost came from the service check up that I did not ask for. Finally, they must have washed my vehicle, on a day that was below zero! My doors all froze shut! Ridiculous. I am quite certain that if my husband, father, brother, any man were there, the run around wouldn't have happened. Ladies, stay away from this business!!! read more

Really disappointing service experience. Came in for an oil change and tail light repair. Was scheduled for 1:00 pickup, but car wasn't even on the rack yet. Told the service manager multiple times I need to go for 2:00 meeting. Nothing happened with tail light until 1:50. Couldn't figure it out, and came up with the wrong diagnosis. Had to demand my car back, without fixed tail light. Was told another 5-10 minutes to "close out the paperwork" on my oil change. WTF? Should I trade my Honda for a Toyota? read more

Lowballing our trade? After we bought it new from TkH in 2017. We got a quote from them on a new vehicle that was $6,100 higher than any other dealer we spoke to after our trade. No thanks. Beware, if you buy a used vehicle there, I noticed a lot of TKH used vehicles have CARFaX reports available and several of them are Canadian Auction vehicles. Research the difference when you buy a vehicle that was titled as a new car in another country. Can be less than accurate/complete vehicle history on the carfax and recalls can be a challenge. We did buy a new Honda but not here. read more

I want to be clear, everyone at the Tom Kadlec service department was very nice and polite. I do not believe the poor service I received was in any way malicious. That said: I blew a head-gasket back in August on my 2009 Honda Civic. I described its symptoms to them, saying it had overheated and there was that puff of "white smoke" out of the tail pipe. The first time I brought it in, I said I wanted an oil change as well. They inspected it, and, presumably, changed the oil. They stated they could find nothing wrong with it, and even had driven it to Byron and back with no trouble. By the time I turned out on the road outside the dealership, my check engine light came back on and was once again flashing. The second time I brought it in, they then said that found a bad ignition coil. This was replaced. My car did begin to run for a little while. Unfortunately, it still had a tendency to overheat, and run low on coolant. Eventually, the flashing check engine light came on again. The third time I brought my car in, they said it was a different ignition coil this time, and they fixed her up again. I then drove the car in this way for over 3 months. Constantly having to fill it with coolant, but not knowing what to do since every time I brought it in, they would say the head-gasket was fine. Finally one cold Saturday morning the car would not start, so I had it towed to an independent auto shop, who immediately diagnosed a blown head-gasket. After tearing the engine apart it was found the head had overheated so much it had warped and I would need to order a new one. After spending over $800 at Tom Kadlec, all I got was a car with the same problem, and additional damage caused to it by driving it unfixed. The service department was very short, didnt help follow up with tire manufacturer after a traumatizing experience with my tire and only 30k miles. Honda dealership specifically says they "will be glad to help" when following up with manufacturer on tire premature wear and failure. With no satisfaction for issue I left the dealership to only notice the chipped windshield I paid to have repaired never was repaired. When I made calls to service department to notify them they would not answer my call (caller id). Waited on hold 7 and 8 minutes each call I made. read more

I purchased a 2012 F-150 from Tom Kadlec. I can confirm that their mechanics do not perform a proper inspection and I have the pictures and service bills from another dealership to prove it. I noticed immediately that the engine was running a little rough and got extremely bad when i floored it. I brought it to another dealer near me and they said i had a misfire on one of the cylinders and the truck also had a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) that required reprogramming the computer and installing an air deflector. When I removed the engine cover, the engine was completely caked in sand. The air filter was disgusting (see pic) and I knew instantly that if they wouldn't replace a $10 air filter, then they didn't do anything else. The spark plugs were all warn beyond their lifespan. 1 of the 3 intake sensors was covered in oil. The radiator was covered in bugs and debris and had clearly never been cleaned. I'm glad i decided to change the transmission fluid as it was VERY dirty at only 50k (what i purchased it at). About the only thing they did was replace the engine oil as it was clean. I doubt they even replaced the oil filter but i couldn't tell how old it was. Lastly, the part that really should have made me not purchase the vehicle is the fact that the manager questioned where i was getting the money from since i paid all cash. In retrospect, it was pretty offensive. read more

I realize now why some people don't like shopping with auto dealerships. I expressed interest in several cars and the sales rep (Akhil Nehra) would not leave me alone and kept bugging me with calls and text messages almost every day. When I finally got the time to come in for a test drive, I didn't like how he was talking to me. He sounded condescending, his body language was off-put and he was making it like he was doing me a favor. If I ever bought a car, I wouldn't want him to get credit for the sale. I told him I wanted to wait until after I move and get my tax return for getting a car and I blocked his number so I could get some peace from his calls, text messages. Then he emailed me and roped me to come back by promising a free car wash. When I got there, as I expected he wanted me to test drive a car. I asked him about the car wash and he played dumb like he never offered me such. I pulled up the specific email and then he was like 'That's an automatic email but I can still honor it'. We go on the test drive and he's still asking me the same questions even though I already told him I'm not going to buy a car today and if you don't meet my price range, there's no deal. When we get back, we run the rates. They don't meet my asking price. HE STILL PERSISTS. I tell him no again and ask can he wash my car. He says yes and I give him the keys. He comes back trying to ask me to run my credit even though we already talked about that subject ad nauseam. I say no again. Then he says he can't wash my car because of a crack in the windshield!! I'm fed up because he could've said that at the very beginning and he's wasted my time. I tried to alert a manager about this and they wouldn't return my call. I will never ever buy a car from this dealership and I advise anyone who does to avoid Akhil Nehra as your car salesman. I'm so disappointed because I actually liked the car and I heard good things about this dealership. read more

I went to get my oil changed last week and the people were very nice. But I waited for over an hour for it to be done and it seemed fine until I was driving and I heard some scraping so I looked under and saw my skid plate was dragging and not attached correctly so I was going home to zip tie it to just put it back in place and I went up my hill and I heard shattering and it broke completely off. And I was checking something today and my inner fender was barely held on by a loose zip tie and it was moving all over. For $50 minus tax would not recommend just do it yourself you'll save time. read more

I can no longer recommend Tom Kadlec Honda after my experience today with the service department. I brought my 1 year old Pilot with 18,000 miles in for an oil change. A service advisor Steve Kroeger suggested that I should also have my rear differential fluid changed because it is "factory grade" and only meant to be in there for a short time. Suddenly my $62 estimate was $190. I felt funny about this suggestion so I consulted my husband and my father (who has worked on engines his entire life) they confirmed my suspicion and told me that this was not something they had ever heard of before. When I asked to change my service back to just an oil change Blake Reiter stepped in and told me that this service needed to be done or my warranty would be void. This conversation only ended when I called my husband and had him talk to Blake. I thought the days of trying to take advantage of women at car dealerships was over but needless to say, that is not the case at Tom Kadlec Honda. I am glad I trusted my instincts and needless to say, I will be bringing my vehicle elsewhere for service from now on. read more

I had set an appointment for 830 on a Saturday morning. I was to look at two vehicles. The first one they could not find. The second I was very interested in but they would not sell it to me because someone said they were going to come in and look at it and was interested. It was OK that I drove 100 miles down to the appointment and not be able to purchase in their eyes. They said someone was coming from further away. Management would not meet with me. They said it was OK if I came back later this afternoon and if it wasn't sold they would be willing to work with me. This is a perfect example of poor customer experience. read more

I just bought a used car from Tom Kadlec-it was not a good experience. Our sales guy, Kevin, was great-everyone else we dealt with were horrible. First of all when they test drove the car I was going to trade in they told us the transmission was bad (the transmission is fine) so they way low balled their offer. In the end they only gave us $5550 for our trade, then they turned around and put it on their lot for $10,500!!! Also when we had to talk to the finance guy-Garrick- we had to wait almost an hour for him to prepare the paperwork. Mind you I was NOT financing through them. Then Garrick tried to sell us and extended warranty, some spray stuff for the bottom of my car to prevent rust, and some crap for my windshield that would make the water bead up so I wouldn't have to use the wipers as often ( a complete waste of money) which would make my payment go up almost $200 a month. Then he gave us an attitude when we declined it all. We walked around that dealership for almost an hour and not one person asked us it we needed help and they were NOT busy in the least. My fiance wanted to walk away from the deal, I wish I would have listened to him. The car that I bought is under warranty but I will not be bringing it to them for service. read more

Firstly, I'm reviewing the service department. This place has a nice building, but the people offer terrible service. They're supposed to know what engine oil they're supposed to put in my car. It even said on the cap that it was a specific quality of engine oil. They messed that up and put in a wrong type. It would have been fine if they just admitted their mistake and fixed it. But their mentality of not admitting their error and trying to say it was my fault for not telling them is an egregious error on customer service. The employees' customer service mentality must change significantly. The customer is always right, and in this case, certainly more right than the people providing the service. read more
