We visited awhile ago, since I did buy their Grappa & Brandy in a store in Orcutt. Ironically we always happen to pass by on the way to the local Strawberry Farm and never noticed it before. The owners are marvelous and the interior is quite nice. Over time, I have enjoyed their product, but since I bought several local distillery products over time, and now drink little, it is all lasting quite awhile. I think one of the owners is of Portuguese origin and the other is Russian. Their products are made from the skins of left over local grapes, which makes it interesting indeed. It is surely fun to visit here, especially for locals. It is very near Spoontrade so it is a good place to consider stopping in before a big meal or maybe after an early lunch.

I don't normally write negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing. Our food took about an hour to arrive, and when it finally did, it was so cold that we had to send it back, which is something we almost never do. After that, we waited another 45 minutes for the replacement meals. Because we had tickets to a show, we eventually had to ask whether our food was even coming. Our server responded that the food was "probably up," and if not, she would cancel it for us. She returned less than a minute later with our meals, which suggested they had been sitting for some time. Unfortunately, the second round of food was also cold, though at least edible (some of it). It was clear that the kitchen was behind, and we understand that busy nights happen. However, what was most frustrating was the lack of urgency or communication from the staff. No one seemed concerned that our food was sitting, and there was zero effort to update us on the delays. To top it off, nothing was offered to make up for the experience. We even had to specifically request that an upcharge be removed from the bill. I hope management takes a closer look at the kitchen operations and communication between staff and guests. As it stands I would never order food again, but would have a cocktail or two.

There was a very small bar/lounge area tucked away in this industrial building, Michael the owner warmly greeted our group of three and made us some cocktails with his handcrafted spirits. Proudly displayed along the walls were all of the awards his spirits have won in various contests. He gave us a tour of the distillery and all of the machines he uses and explained the processing for each spirit. It's really clear that this is a passionate artist who has honed his craft and enjoys sharing his excitement and art with others. You can tell that the end result is a high quality product. Gin is certainly the specialty here and it's pretty outstanding stuff. Usually if I sniff any old bottle of gin, it's not a pleasant experience but one whiff of this gin makes me want to inhale again. It's probably the only spirits I would bring to a fancy party or make craft cocktails at home with. I'm so glad to see Goleta Red spirits in local bars like the Goodland, I'd recommend any local or tourist to stop by for a tasting or try a craft cocktail for a real local experience!

Then when you park make sure to walk towards the driveway because that's where their entrance is. When we were there they were out of half the whiskeys so we did a tasting with the whiskeys available. Not a bad price either 3 for $10 or 6 for $20. Totally worth it. Once you tried them you can pick your fave to make one of their many cocktail options or have it on the rocks or neat. They also had vodka, gin, Tequila, beer, and wine. As a plus they had food and happy hour! So the whiskeys were all good to me, smooth, and a couple were on the sweeter side with notes of caramel and vanilla. The rye was surprisingly one of the smother sweeter ones I tried. After the tasting I had the Matt Hattan which was delicious! My friend had the smokey old fashioned and after tasting mine he ordered a Matt Hattan as well after he finished his drink. I giggly recommend it. We ordered food and we didn't even know it was happy hour but they let us know that it was. The wings were REALLY good. Flavorful and still crispy. Lots of places lose the crisp when they had the flavor but not here. It was delicious, I ended up getting a second order after the first and finishing both! Right next door to central coast brewing (which I frequent a lot but they only offer beer and wine). Cute little bar, with a really nice bartender Brent. Brand new menu with some very interesting cocktails. Can also make most cocktails not on the menu. They said eventually they will be serving small bites but for now if you want food you can order bar food from central coast brewery and they will deliver the food next door to this place. On a recent weekend, they had six distillation products to taste: 1) Barrel #1 Bourbon, 2) Barrel #17 CornWhiskey, 3) Apple Cinnamon Bourbon, 4) "fruit infused corn whiskey, 5) cherry spiced rum, 6)Maple pecan Bourbon whiskey. A $20 tasting got you a tiny pour of each in a whiskey cairn glass. Most bottles were $80 for 750 ml. One was $100 ( I forget which). It's a little pricey, but he's a one-man operation with none of the big distillery economy of scale working for him. Right now, he's emphasizing the tastings and the distillery-logo gift items, such as an engraved whiskey cairn glass (those are cool!) and assorted t-shirts. I'm glad I found this small local spot. I hope he grows enough to be able to try barrel-aging his stuff for longer periods. His products are pretty young, but definitely interesting. I'd be really excited if he were to try working with malted barley, too. However,I do understand that this is a small operation. The guy looked a little more tired and less chatty about his product than he was a couple of years ago. He might consider taking on someone to help with the tasting room pourings and talking to the public. I think he could use a bigger space, already. Parking in the lot in front of the restaurant is available. In a pinch, you can also park across the street and walk over. Be careful, traffic on Los Osos Valley Road is pretty fast.

When I brought it up immediately, the bartender responded with, "Oh yeah, I guess I should have told you that," which pretty much confirmed they were aware of the discrepancy beforehand. That's not okay. If there are extra charges, substitutions, or upcharges, they need to be clearly communicated before the transaction--not after the customer catches it. The food was fine, but this kind of experience kills trust. Double-check your bill if you come here.

I've never had chicken adobo in a Mexican restaurant. Talk about super juicy. The chicken is so delicious, moist, cooked perfectly, seasoned well. I added sour cream and cheese. I like how you could see the cook in the kitchen cooking and all the chicken on the grill. I came in during lunch. I was the only one in there. It was super quiet. There was ample parking, although not being a local to this area, I was a little lost and super confused on how to find it since the GPS took me everywhere but to this place, which is located in a plaza next to a public market of things and like a hardware store. My food came out super fast. My waitress was attentive and super nice. She kept checking on me to make sure I was good. I will definitely retire when I'm in the area for work!
