I did not try the food but it looks and smells great. They have a menu that you can scan to order food from a nearby pizza place and the pizza place will drop it off to the distillery or the brewery. The service is fast and friendly and very welcoming. The atmosphere is diverse and inclusive and designed for people to have a great time alone or in groups. There are plenty of bars, plenty of seating, and plenty of outdoor seating. The hub is shared with a brewery. Bryson made me a custom birthday drink based off of a quick description of what I look for in a drink and it is ONE OF THEE BEST THINGS IVE EVER PUT IN MY MOUTH!!! What a great little distillery! Not really little inside but it's got a nice little feel. It's attached to a brewery and the signed outside are hard to see so you'd most likely drive right past if you didn't know what you're looking for. Then when you park make sure to walk towards the driveway because that's where their entrance is. The staff that was there was really friendly, and I liked the fact that they'd tried a lot of the whiskeys and drinks on the menu so they could make recommendations based on what you were looking for. When we were there they were out of half the whiskeys so we did a tasting with the whiskeys available. Not a bad price either 3 for $10 or 6 for $20. Totally worth it. Once you tried them you can pick your fave to make one of their many cocktail options or have it on the rocks or neat. They also had vodka, gin, Tequila, beer, and wine. As a plus they had food and happy hour! So the whiskeys were all good to me, smooth, and a couple were on the sweeter side with notes of caramel and vanilla. The rye was surprisingly one of the smother sweeter ones I tried. After the tasting I had the Matt Hattan which was delicious! My friend had the smokey old fashioned and after tasting mine he ordered a Matt Hattan as well after he finished his drink. I giggly recommend it. We ordered food and we didn't even know it was happy hour but they let us know that it was. The wings were REALLY good. Flavorful and still crispy. Lots of places lose the crisp when they had the flavor but not here. It was delicious, I ended up getting a second order after the first and finishing both! I love me original and flavorful libations and this place did not disappoint. I enjoy new flavors and freshly made ingredients and that is what I spied. I saw an almost mad scientist set up using fruits and spices for new drink ideas. I happily will be the guinea pig to try experimental drinks! They serve food, though I came in too late. Super fun and memorable visit to Krobar. Despite being a Monday in November, this place was a busy. I sat at the bar while waiting for a friend to get off work and join me. They have such a unique lineup of cocktails that I really struggle to pick. The bartender recommended the Blue Emperor because of the 'mouth numbing buzz button'. Get this, the drink comes with a flower bud that it's mildly poisonous which if eaten causes a 10 minutes or so long mouth numbing! And, as the bartender explained, it changes the flavors of the cocktail! Loved it, what a fun drinking experience! Came here when looking up cocktail bars in SLO. This place came up and I got really excited to try it out. Cocktails were absolutely awesome. The whole space is awesome as their is a brewary nearby and food options. Will be bringing the kid and the wife for a Saturday hangout session. I loved the roll the dice option which based on the dice determine the liquor and mixers. It actually made a damn good whisket cocktail. Just a fun option. Can't wait to go back. Couldn't have my Bachelor Party in SLO without some whiskey, so I was overjoyed when my best man found KROBAR for whiskey tasting to incorporate into our schedule. There were six of us, so I'm glad we could occupy the main table indoors. It was pretty neat because there were also those swing-ring games that all of us got into (I was probably the best at it though...haha!). For the tasting, it was cool to see some other alcohols on the list aside from whiskey like vodka and gin, and actually the butterfly pea flower and orange gins were very tasty! I opted for the all-whiskey tasting, and some were quite spicy and a bit too strong, but the best was the American Single Malt Whiskey - went down the smoothest for me compared to some of the other ones. Purchasing bottles was a bit pricey, so we didn't leave with any this time (except for some orange gin), but I would be down to go again when I have a bit more moneys to spend! Off night apparently. Drinks were made incorrectly. Food orders were confused. Saw bartender lifting our burger buns with his fingers to see what was inside. Had a group of nine out of town guests including one with physical challenges. When we arrived the place was empty. Gave us a choice of seating at bar or high table. Would not let us join two tables to accommodate our group. Later saw large group come in and simply do it themselves. Wanted something special for our guests. It was special for sure. Whiskey is exceptionally smooth with little to no bite, and exaggerated caramel notes. In other words, dayum good. And local- environmentalists are always telling us to eat local. If you do the tasting and then buy bottles, the tasting price is comped. The butterfly gin is scientifically excellent- we add lemon juice and it turns color. And the flavor is lovely. Visited KROBAR for the first time last week, before the crazy storms came, and I loved the atmosphere. They have a cute outdoors and although indoors is small, it's quaint. Went on a Tuesday afternoon right after new years so I'm sure most people were back at work. I was lucky to be on vacation visiting SLO! What attracted me to KROBAR was the review about the orange gin. And it was to point! That was my favorite tasting we did. Did a flight; one vodka, couple gins and whiskey. Now I've been bourbon tasting in Kentucky so I gotta admit, nothing wins me over than Kentucky bourbon. But I did love the orange gin. The whiskeys were tasty too. We discovered Krobar when they were at their previous location . We've been coming there a couple times a year for the last few years. Their spirits are good and the cocktails are good. The main issue I have is when you go to check out and pay your tab, if you buy bottles to go, the payment device shows various tip levels, but they're based on the check total. The first time this happened, we didn't notice and just clicked 20% or 22% , but we didn't notice it was calculated on the total, including the bottles purchased. I am more than happy to tip well for good service on the drinks that we received during our visit, but I don't think it's ethical to the show the tip based on bottles that you're going to take with you. read more
