I just visited Rock & Polish with my oldest child and had a wonderful experience. I received a gel pedicure from Thuong, and my child enjoyed a Little Miss manicure and pedicure from Tina. Both technicians were kind, attentive, and did an excellent job--the results look fantastic. I had originally booked with Tiffany, but noticed she often tends to work with male clients. I always tip appropriately based on the cost of the service and the quality provided. Moving forward, we will be booking directly with Thuong and Tina, as we were very happy with their work. Rock and Polish changed ownership, and unfortunately their service has declined. I've decided I can no longer go here. I went for a mani/pedi and it was clear the technician did not know what she was doing. She literally was hurting my nails during the cuticle treatment; I had to ask her to stop. When I told the owner about the experience they said come back and basically they'll make it up. So why when I went back they still charged me full price??? Bad service AND I have to pay full price? Of course, I complained again. But at this point it's best to just not go here. The new owner is really good with nails - hence the two stars. I love having this nail salon around the corner for a quick spontaneous pedicure... not quite spontaneous because they do prefer appointments but I call same day and they give me their times available and it's great! The ladies are always so nice and no frills no massage chairs or anything - but they give a nice foot massage and they're gentle with my feet! Overall it's a pretty straightforward service - $53 for a gel pedicure with cleaning and foot rub and tip as you like. Not a full five stars because I am able to get the same service at another nail salon for $10 less - unfortunately that particular spot is closed today and the convenience of a quick walk over is worth it to keep them at the 4 stars for me read more

You walk in and it smells so good! I called in this morning and they were able to take me in because someone canceled (or at least they thought they did). I get in and am asked to wait 30 minutes. I'm not exactly sure why but I think it was because the person they thought cancelled actually came in. I noticed as well that there are no massage chairs but regular lounge chairs and they use a big bowl for your feet. Not my style but ok. Anyways, the staff was really nice. They started with my manicure first and I wanted gel. It was nice but they were a bit sloppy with the work on my finger nails (paint on the sides, etc) and didn't go back to clean up the work. I had to mention it. But they didn't get all places that I didn't see until after the appointment. They did however make it super painless which I totally appreciated. My pedicure was next. I did gel for that too. The water was HOT! It became unbearable that I asked for colder water and I usually love hot water. The pedicure was done pretty well and painless. It came to a total of $93 which was sad but it's the cost these days for gel I guess. Sadly, my nails started chipping a couple of days after UGHHHHHH. Local Jack London nail salon that I regularly go to. What I love most is that they are open on Sunday's when I have downtime and it's hard to find a salon which takes clients on Sunday. The girls there are very friendly and do a great job with my nails. I also love their gel rehab in between gel nails that help your natural nails heal. They also have a healthier version of gel that can be removed quickly. Lots of color options. Prices are a bit on the higher side but they do a good job. Appointments are easy to book online through their portal so you don't need to call to book one. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is it's a bit variable if their appointments are on time. There have been times I've been there and it's right on time. Today, I had a 3pm appointment and they didn't start working on me until 3:30-3:45pm. My mani and pedi took until 5:45pm! They do get busy Sunday afternoons and Sunday mornings tend to be more slow. If you book during a slower day or time, I'm sure the service is better. read more

This is the only place I will go to for a pedicure! I have very sensitive feet! They go beyond and above here! They are very sanitary, and the salon is super cute, with comfy chairs. They really take their time with each service and check in with you throughout! They have a ton of colors to choose from and a variety of types of manis/pedicures. I reviewed this place ages ago when it opened and wasn't terribly impressed back then. However, as things started to open up, I decided to get my nails down and went back to Rock & Polish. Since I had a poor experience years ago, I honestly only did it because I was able to book online as I didn't want to wait around anywhere. I've gotten gel mani & pedis here for the last 4-5 months and the gel holds up amazingly well! At other places, when I would to gels, my manicure would be visibly worn within 2 weeks and starting to peel and crack. Here? 4 weeks and I come in largely because I just want a new color. Seriously, I've never had gel last this long, and I put my nails through the ringer with weightlifting, working out, swimming, washing dishes... you name it, and it stands the test! Their prices are higher than other places I've gone, but the ease of online booking, the cleanliness, the overall ambience, and how long the gel lasts is absolutely worth it! read more

I have been coming here since I moved in the area 10 years ago. It was a great place when the previous owner ran it. But sadly it has gone downhill. Their signature pedicure used be a luxurious experience. Now you can barely get a hello at the door. They are supposed to do a salt scrub, they just skip it. The exfoliating is so rushed that they barely soften your feet. And the nail polish chips in days not weeks. Add to that now I am getting negged about my nails because they think they can insult me into getting another manicure. To top it off, the manicurist was wiping her tools off on the top of my feet when there was a perfect clean towel near by. Completely unsanitary. The whole experience was rude and gross. The customer service is not worth the price. I get a better pedicure at Green Day Spa and without the attitude. 10 year customer no more. read more

I called at 4:30 to see if I could make an appointment for tomorrow morning since they were to close in 30 mins- and they said if I could get there in 15 mins I could come for my pedi! I hightailed it over, but needn't have rushed, as they were still finishing everyone else up. A woman walked in after me at 4:50, and asked for a gel mani pedi and they said sure! They seated me at 5, and took the time on my pedi- not rushed even though they were supposed to have closed at 5. The pedicurist was sweet as can be- loved it. Also loved that the pedi bowls are bowls, and not jetted, where fungi fester. Felt clean which always makes me more relaxed. This place is so convenient from where I live. I tried this place twice now, first one for a pedicure and then my second time for a pedicure and gel extensions. I go see Kim and Nancy for my mani and pedicure needs. They are detailed and good at what they do. They take their time so I appreciate that. I usually get acrylic nails done but seeing what they do to my nail beds I decided to stop. When I found out they offered soft gel nail extensions, I was intrigued. I finally went in today to get them done and all I can say is that they look great. They feel great as well and I didn't have to sit through smelling all those strong chemical fumes when you would get acrylic nails done. They look natural and aren't heavy on the hand. They just feel like your own natural nails. They are a little bit more delicate than acrylic so you do want to be careful when because they'll bend. When the gel extensions are taken off your real nails do not get damaged in the process. The nail bar is very clean. It doesn't have any massage chairs, but I'm totally fine with that because their attention to detail is what matters the most to me. They're always so welcoming every time I come into the nail bar. Like I mentioned it is very convenient especially if you do live in the apartments or condos across the street. They have plenty of parking in front of the nail bar as well. The pricing is a little high, however like I mentioned it is very convenient to me so I don't have to drive anywhere or look for parking. I definitely see myself coming back here regularly. I would say if you're looking for a good nail bar, you should definitely get this place a try. read more

I've lived in the Bay my whole life and have been to various salons all over Oakland, Berkeley, Walnut Creek and Concord. This one takes the cake every time. It's been over three years and I am never disappointed with my service which is why I always come back. I recently moved to Walnut Creek and was disappointed in the different salons I tried. Upon getting Rock & Polish's email about reopening, I squealed like a kid on Christmas morning and immediately booked an appointment online. I will drive 20-30 minutes to come here over my local salons. All of the nail technicians are on point. They're friendly, kind, pay attention to detail and give great massages. Getting my nails done is a treat and it feels good knowing I get the quality and service I pay for. I always get gel polish but tried the CND shellac luxe one for the first time. They say it's better for your nails. They don't do acrylics if that's your thing. Parking is rarely an issue. The salon itself is super cute and clean and the chairs are cozy. The nail tech Tiffany was really really nice and spent a lot of time with me including helping me choose colors and a style. The vibe is really mellow and soothing and it was all around a really relaxing experience. I love the results of the color but I think maybe the fit is slightly off / they're a bit wide for my fingers. If I'd gotten false nails before I probably would have noticed this earlier and the shape could have been adjusted but I just didn't. It's not a huge deal but they were kind of expensive so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bummed. It's the same app used by a number of gyms in the area and thus intuitive and didn't require downloading an entire app for just one purpose. The descriptions of services on the app were a little hard to follow, but the combo of that and yelp insights led me just to what I was looking for: Signature Pedi ($29) which comes with a leg/foot massage. I really wanted to love this place because the location is great. However, when I walked in and told them I had an appointment they didn't say anything like have a seat or pick you color or to even have a seat in the chair in which my pedicure was to take place. While the pedicure was actually legit, the chair was clearly not meant for anyone taller than 5'4". My legs we so squished it was uncomfortable. The bad thing is you can't really scoot the chair back any further because it's on an elevated platform. So if you were to scoot it back, you fall off. I tried sitting up with my back as close to the back of the chair but it didn't alleviate any uncomfortable leg squishing. You can't even relax your head because the chair stops below the neck and there's no headrest. The manicure was ok. The warm lotion massage with the mani and pedi was great, but it seems like my nail tech was in a rush because after she rubbed the lotion on my right arm (no massage like on the left side) she got up to get a hot towel to wipe off the excess and called it quits. Though I requested no color polish on my hands, they didn't offer clear or even a buff. Unfortunately I cannot make this my go to spot as I do enjoy being comfortable whilst getting a pedicure. And even though the warm lotion is so soothing, I'll continue my search elsewhere. read more

After picking me up from the airport, my son brought me here for pampering! When we arrived, the technician was waiting for us. It was nice not having to wait as I often have to do at home. The service was wonderful. She did an excellent and thorough pedicure. She didn't rush and took her time. I've been to so many salons where the technicians rushed and the results were substandard. Not here. When she massaged my feet and legs, it put me to sleep. The manicure was exceptional, too. I look forward to returning when I'm in Oakland again later this year. read more

I am disappointed. For $47 mani/pedi I figure my polish should not chip and flake off within 48 hours. If I had been doing yard work or volunteering for habitat for humanity I would expect it. I don't expect it to flake with light activity. A massage comes with the pedicure. It was difficult to realize that that's what the technician was doing as opposed to rubbing in lotion. I bet there was supposed to be one with the manicure too. I admit I am the type who prefers deep intense massages. Those won't be available during a mani/pedi anywhere but I have certainly had much better at other places. If I return I will only get a pedicure. It is really tough to wreck the looks of those. UPDATE The pedicure didn't last like most. It looked pretty but they did not do a good job with the footscrub. When I was paying they didn't tell me about the 48 hour warranty. My pal made our apointments so I had never seen their site with it posted. That could have made a major difference in my customer satisfaction level.
