I had a really disappointing experience here. I went in for a manicure and pedicure and was quoted $105 for the manicure gel x and $45 for the pedicure. When it came time to pay, the lady charged me $150, then charged another $45 and said it was for "tip," and THEN still asked me for $20 cash each for two people. At that point I honestly felt cheated. I don't understand why I was charged multiple times on electronic payment and asked for a cash tip on top of it. It felt very sketchy and made me extremely uncomfortable. On top of that, they didn't even do what I asked for. For the amount they charged, the service should have been way better and the pricing should have been transparent. Worst nail job ever! I had my nails done at this place on Sunday, June 1st. By Saturday, June 7th, they were already damaged. I attended a party that weekend. My friend looked at my nails and told me I should go back and complain. Sadly, I didn't have the time to do that. By Monday, June 9th, all nails were damaged. The service itself was below average, the clean up portion was not okay, did not even ask to trim down, had to ask myself and she only cut down 4 of my toe nails... it took longer to paint my nails than to actually clean up. When she was painting my nails, she was putting so much pressure on my toe that her nail would dig into my skin. I asked for a French tip, the line itself is extremely thick. I judged this book by its cover. I came in with low expectations based on reviews and the not so modern aesthetic. However, my gel manicure was done meticulously and my nails are still chip free 8 days in. Holly (I believe the nail tech's name) went in and did a great job with cuticles. I get crazy hang nails and usually have to nudge the techs to cut more, but not Holly. The hand massage was really well done and service was nice enough. Again, the spot is bright pink and not in a fun Instagram way. The space is bright, but a little shabby. I noticed on their services menu they do waxing, threading and micro blading. Unfortunately my most recent experience was horrible. The tech mocked me when I asked for oval instead of almond which she insisted was the same thing. She also informed me my color combo wouldn't work and insisted I use this nude that is very unflattering. She burned my cuticles with the nail drill. Did a rush job. Same with my pedicure. Nice staff, nice decor, but this was simply the worst (gel) manicure I've received in many years. I have cuts, cuticles that were cut so jaggedly and ineffectively, and a lot of mess around and under the nails. My nail beds are painful and washing stung them. Beauty treatments like a manicure and pedicure should be relaxing and rejuvenating; instead I'm uncomfortable and in pain. So much polish mess under my nails. Kept waiting for them to clean this up, but they had no intention of doing so. She told me I was all finished so then I finally pointed out the uncomfortable mess under my nails. There are a few guidelines about coming here to optimize your experience. Essentially, you must be a proactive customer because thay have a particular business model. 1. Have an appointment or come when you have nothing else to do that day. WHY: They will stop working on you if someone with an appointment shows up. I witnessed one woman, who may have had an appointment herself, experience this. A few minutes after she had been abandoned mid-manicure she stated she had somewhere else to go and was willing to pay a pro-rated amount and leave. Someone else jumped in to continue that work, meanwhile abandoning another customer, to address this. The original person returned and said she had no choice because the other person had an appointment. ??? 2. Come when they are dead or you have nowhere else to be WHY: See above and the wait can be long 3. Ask about each menu item or review the brochure if no one is at reception when you sign-in. WHY: I selected the wrong items to retain my masssage chair for my whole treatmentx 4. State that you do not want your cuticles cut WHY They might do it anyway unless you stop them. The person working on me was willing to stop. I had to persuade her to apply the infection prevention fluid to both fingers she did that to. Edit 1: Please note: It has been 24 hours and my cuticle area still hurts from where she cut it. Edit 2: Nearly 48 hours pain was because she snipped skin such that it peeled. Literally, I had to remove skin. It is my understanding that cutting cuticles may look nice but ultimately is unhygienic. Edit 3: Small injury but ugly with a bloody spot. Two chipped nails so far. One is chipped at the bottom if you can believe it. Edit 4: Just over a week has past. My nails and fingers look way worse than when I went in. I asked not to have cuticles cut -- just push back. Sne nipped me and I had to demand the disinfectant. Well cuticle didn't get pushed back. The edges around my cuticles have peeling skin. 5. Ask about their discount punchcard for services above $30. WHY I've never spent less than $30 the few times I have gone over the past 9 months. Yesterday was the frist time it was mentioned. I told the person taking payment and she gave me a second stamp. I appreciate that. 6. Only do color changes on your fingers. Either do your own manicure, like I usually do, or go somewhere better. I periodically try out new places. I can't even lie, I am the pickiest person when it comes to my nails :( I always feel so bad for the person who has to deal with me but I just know what I want... lol. Good service overall. I like my nails and got the dip powder this is my first time using it after having acrylic nails. So far 3 nails cracked on the right corner after 3 days of wear which is a bummer. When I was there I also got to see them respond to a lady who was trying to finesse her way out of paying. I love this place. The owner is super friendly and always chats me up whenever I'm in. I really really love how all of the nail techs here do pedicures. They always give my toes the best nail shape. This place is a scam I told them to stop doing my nails and they still charged me $40 for just acrylic being added to my nails. She tried to charge me $12 for French tip because she said I wanted them high and it would be an additional $5 on top of the $7. I've never heard of that before. My feet were ok too thick but by that time I was over it and ready to just leave. Then proceeded to say my sister's nails were ugly and not done right but she had just gotten them done in the same shop! 0/10 would not recommend. I moved to Oakland in August and my first mission was to find a nail shop. A friend of mine suggested this place and I decided to check it out. I arrived and discovered an adorable pink shop with soft piano music playing and a happy vibe. Pink walls, pink flowers, adorable pink business cards (with rewards for coming back!), and the staff is dressed in pink scrubs. There's also an adorable pink butterfly station for kids spa services. They have a large variety of gel polish colors and offer wax services, microblading, and lash extensions. The deluxe pedicure, my favorite, comes with a clay mask, hot stone massage, and paraffin wax! Amaaaazing. I also love that the staff here is incredibly friendly. They greet you like family and check on you throughout the services. They've done a great job with maintaining safety due to covid 19 as well. I was 6 feet apart from anyone else in the shop, separated by a plastic barrier for every service, and my temperature was checked upon entering. Had a long overdo pedicure with two of my girlfriends yesterday - what amazing service for an incredible price!! My friend brought her 5 month old son and many of the staff stopped to play with him (safely of course). I don't know how they do it but my finger nail polish stays on and doesn't chip for a few days which is a miracle for me because my nails are so soft. I love the service here. All the workers are really nice and accomadating! First thing I noticed about this place is that their interior design is BEATIFUL and it's very clean. I usually wax my eyebrows and upper lip, but was recommended by Lisa to get it thread instead, and I loved it! Short story:Definitely one of the better nail shops I've been to and I do plan on making this place my go to for nails/ beauty. Nail tech was much older but seemed to know what she was doing (Keep in mind I'm new to what the process would have been if I got sculpted nails) I told her I wanted sculpted nails. She said okay. She began prepping and before I could have said anything she started to glue down acrylic tips. I didn't want to make a big deal about it so I just let it go since I've been wanting my nails done for a long time and plus acrylic is cheaper then what I originally wanted. Technique of prepping and shaping was detailed and very straight. None of my nails were crooked or longer compared to the other hand . **main complaint of everything was the when I told her to make adjustments once the tips were just on regarding the length of the nails she would keep on click her tounge. After many attempts of her making them shorter (she would cut LITTLE by little ) I just let it go because I didn't want to upset her anymore. (Should have kept on saying something so overall my fault but I made note of it ) I wish I could have at least got the length of my nails the way I wanted without the nail tech making it a hassle and making me feel bad. read more
