Worst nail job ever! I had my nails done at this place on Sunday, June 1st. By Saturday, June 7th, they were already damaged. I attended a party that weekend. My friend looked at my nails and told me I should go back and complain. Sadly, I didn't have the time to do that. By Monday, June 9th, all nails were damaged. The gel is detaching from the base; it's crackling or chipping. I usually get my nails done at a place in Piedmont, and it lasts about three weeks. This place won't be seeing me again.

    Cat eye base, chrome designs.

Gorgeous design work. Amazing attention to detail. I could tell that they all wanted to make sure we got what we wanted. We felt very welcome as gender non-conforming people, will definitely be back! I got gel, cat eye polish, and chrome designs on all 10 fingers for $60. I have been charged much more for less design work, so i am happy with the price!

I loved this place and was coming here regularly because I felt their prices were fair and Deb is great. But for the first time in my life I got a green finger fungus after coming here... not sure what that's about or why that would happen. Okay no biggie! But this last visit my ultraaaa shorttt white tip square set was randomly $72 I have never in my life paid more than $55 for such a simple set. I guess they charge removal and additional for white tip? When I asked what was going on I was told if I was "on a budget I should call before coming in" very condescending language. I own 5 business in Oakland- I work hard for my money- and I'll be buying a UV light and gel set for 25$ on Amazon expeditiously! Lost a client who has gotten her nails done every 2-3 weeks for 12 years straight. Cute set- not worth it.

My roommate introduced me to this spot. My first experience was pretty good. Quality manicure and pedi. I thought the place was clean and liked that the business was woman owned. Unfortunately my most recent experience was horrible. The tech mocked me when I asked for oval instead of almond which she insisted was the same thing. She also informed me my color combo wouldn't work and insisted I use this nude that is very unflattering. She burned my cuticles with the nail drill. Did a rush job. Same with my pedicure. My acrylics were so horribly done that after eating a burrito salsa was under my top coat and stained my acrylics permanently. This service is inexcusable for a $110 service.

I have been a customer since Lisa and her BFF first opened. This is where I go to have my gel manicure and pedicure. This is where I was first introduced to Gel and I am very satisfied. Being an interior designer it is a pleasure to come here amidst the pink and white cuteness of the salon. It's relaxing and pleasing to the eye. I love the cleanliness of the salon as Lisa is a "clean nut" and I appreciate that- She is a good business woman....love her! I have never seen two business partners who work so well together!! They run a professional business...my forever salon

I'm sooo disappointed. I've come to FBN a couple times before my last visit with minimal issues, but this dip powder job is just terrible. I got my nails done Friday night and this is what they look like Monday morning- chipped, cracked, and he didn't even cut my cuticles! I love the woman who does eyebrows here, but for almost $60 this job is unacceptable. Won't be coming back.

They cut too much on this nail and cut me

Nice staff, nice decor, but this was simply the worst (gel) manicure I've received in many years. I have cuts, cuticles that were cut so jaggedly and ineffectively, and a lot of mess around and under the nails. My nail beds are painful and washing stung them. Beauty treatments like a manicure and pedicure should be relaxing and rejuvenating; instead I'm uncomfortable and in pain. So much polish mess under my nails. Kept waiting for them to clean this up, but they had no intention of doing so. She told me I was all finished so then I finally pointed out the uncomfortable mess under my nails. The technician tried to use a file and cuticle scissors to clean it up and she cut me. See photos.

Chipped nail. :( I'll try to disguise it with glitter.

There are a few guidelines about coming here to optimize your experience. Essentially, you must be a proactive customer because thay have a particular business model. 1. Have an appointment or come when you have nothing else to do that day. WHY: They will stop working on you if someone with an appointment shows up. I witnessed one woman, who may have had an appointment herself, experience this. A few minutes after she had been abandoned mid-manicure she stated she had somewhere else to go and was willing to pay a pro-rated amount and leave. Someone else jumped in to continue that work, meanwhile abandoning another customer, to address this. The original person returned and said she had no choice because the other person had an appointment. ??? 2. Come when they are dead or you have nowhere else to be WHY: See above and the wait can be long 3. Ask about each menu item or review the brochure if no one is at reception when you sign-in. WHY: I selected the wrong items to retain my masssage chair for my whole treatmentx 4. State that you do not want your cuticles cut WHY They might do it anyway unless you stop them. The person working on me was willing to stop. I had to persuade her to apply the infection prevention fluid to both fingers she did that to. Edit 1: Please note: It has been 24 hours and my cuticle area still hurts from where she cut it. Edit 2: Nearly 48 hours pain was because she snipped skin such that it peeled. Literally, I had to remove skin. It is my understanding that cutting cuticles may look nice but ultimately is unhygienic. Edit 3: Small injury but ugly with a bloody spot. Two chipped nails so far. One is chipped at the bottom if you can believe it. Edit 4: Just over a week has past. My nails and fingers look way worse than when I went in. I asked not to have cuticles cut -- just push back. Sne nipped me and I had to demand the disinfectant. Well cuticle didn't get pushed back. The edges around my cuticles have peeling skin. 5. Ask about their discount punchcard for services above $30. WHY I've never spent less than $30 the few times I have gone over the past 9 months. Yesterday was the frist time it was mentioned. I told the person taking payment and she gave me a second stamp. I appreciate that. 6. Only do color changes on your fingers. Either do your own manicure, like I usually do, or go somewhere better. I periodically try out new places. For all the challenges I listed it retains its distant second status to Natural Nails Plus on Grand.

I really wanted to love this place after seeing all the great reviews, but unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it for what I was looking for. I had been growing my eyebrows out for months because I wanted to change the shape and make them more even. Unfortunately, my brows were basically just cleaned up and shaped the way I already had them before, so I felt like I grew them out for nothing. I was also offered a tint to help make them look more even. Unfortunately, the tint didn't help and actually made the difference more noticeable because there was dark tint left on the skin underneath one brow, making it look even higher. I also felt like the tint didn't really change anything, so it felt like money wasted. I brought my daughter for her first brow shaping because she has very thick, long brows and only wanted them cleaned up and shaped. Unfortunately, hers were also left uneven -- one was thick and rounded while the other had a more pointed arch. She was disappointed as well. I will say the lady was very sweet, welcoming, and kind, and the place was extremely busy with lots of customers coming in and out. I have nothing negative to say about her customer service. Based on my experience, I would recommend this place more for cleaning up and maintaining an eyebrow shape you already like, rather than creating a new shape, evening out uneven brows, or doing a first-time brow transformation. For those services, I would personally look for someone who specializes more specifically in brow shaping.

Before moving to the States, I saw a…read moreprofessional wax aesthetician every month, so when I arrived here, my first mission was to find a brow artist who could truly rival the one I had in Beijing, and Anita did exactly that. I've now had my brows done by Anita three times, all with threading (I was curious to try something new instead of my usual waxing). Her technique is consistently impressive. She shapes my brows in a way that feels clean, refined, and very natural for my face. Plus, the shape consistently lasts for about a month before needing a touch-up. On top of her skill, Anita is also incredibly warm and kind. She finishes the service with a soft, soothing massage, and the vibe in the salon is calm and relaxing too. If you're someone who has high standards for your brows, you really won't regret coming to see Anita.

I highly recommend Anita to take care of your brows, especially if, like me, you've never had your…read moreeyebrows done professionally. She is sweet, professional, and meticulous, with over a decade of experience, and she consults with you every step of the way to ensure you're comfortable with the process and results. I've always worried about symmetry, shape and visibility of my blonde brows, and the discussion of "eyebrow blindness" on social media really pushed me to see a professional. I researched several highly rated eyebrow shaping salons, but many had a common theme: while some staff members were praised, high turnover made the results unpredictable. I chose Anita because she's the owner and the only one handling the work. I first contacted Anita to let her know I had no idea what services I needed (Wax? Threading? Tinting? Lamination?) but she said I could just book an appointment and she could change services if needed once we discussed in person. I was nervous about going to someone for the first time, but Anita listened to my concerns and put me at ease. She recommended keeping my fullness, explained she wouldn't go too thin, and I was confident she knew what she was doing. She recommended starting with the basics, and explained that lamination might be unnecessary. She suggested waxing for initial shaping, followed by threading for precision, and a light tint to define my brows without going too dark. Throughout, she worked carefully in cycles, letting me inspect the progress, comparing to before photos, and meticulously refining the shape until it was perfect. Waxing was not as painful as I expected, and she applied soothing aloe after. Threading was not at all painful. Waxing made my skin a bit red for a while afterwards, but I was going directly home afterwards so it didn't matter to me. I was nervous about tinting, but Anita explained the process, ensuring the shade wouldn't be too bold and said she could keep wiping to lighten if necessary. She said it would continue to fade and only lasts about 12 days, so I wasn't worried about a commitment if I didn't end up liking it. After the reveal, it initially seemed darker than I expected, and she offered to lighten, but after she showed me the before-and-after photos, I realized it was only a subtle change and I just wasn't used to it. The entire session, including tinting, took about 45 minutes and cost $60 ($40 for initial shaping and $20 tint), very reasonable cost for such personalized care. I've already received a bunch of complements on my brows, and am very happy with them. Anita's office is quiet and cozy, tucked inside an office complex (Salon Republic), and she plays soothing music while she works. For initial shaping or just need periodic upkeep, Anita will be my go-to for brows. And she also offers other services, like full body waxing.

I've personally been seeing Dominique (one of the owners) for many years, and she is amazing. That said, I genuinely believe you'd be in good hands with anyone there. If you've only ever tried waxing, sugaring is a game changer. Yes, the hair is still removed from the root, but it's noticeably less painful than waxing. It also doesn't remove the top layer of skin the way waxing can, which makes a big difference in comfort and recovery. There's no sticky residue left behind after the appointment either, something I always dealt with when I used to wax. I'm also a big fan of how much less waste the sugaring process creates. The sugarer uses a single ball of sugar paste throughout the session, no double dipping, no wooden sticks, and no cloth strips to throw away. It's clean, efficient, and more environmentally friendly. The product itself is completely natural too -- just sugar, lemon, and water. After all these years, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Professional, consistent, and just all-around wonderful.
