Rock & Roll Heaven has been around for many years and is staple to the Ivanhoe Village. They had a wide variety of vinyl, CD's, DVD's VHS's as well as vintage toys. I myself have DJ'd for many years so I enjoy going to local record stores and picking up pieces that I don't usually see. As soon as you walk in your blasted to a throwback period and you're accompanied by everything retro to give you all the nostalgic feels you could ask for. When it comes to vinyl collection this is one of the larger collections you'll see in the Orlando area. It's not enough to have the collection but you've also got to dress up the shop in a way to properly represent these classics and this shop lives up to that bill. From the retro toys to albums it's got all that you'd want out of a vinyl store. I myself tend to look for reggae and calypso albums and I'll admit it can be a bit challenging to find items. Rock & Roll Heaven has a collection of items I don't tend to typically see in the Orlando area. To top it all off the staff there are people that are very familiar with their inventory and know their stuff to a T so they can help you with finding items and they're also super friendly as well. The bottom line, if you're into to vintage items specifically music you've got to visit this shop. Amazing selection of vinyls for good prices, as well as CD's merch and more. Customer service is hit or miss here and can make or break the experience. One of the guys is super friendly but another one was quite rude and impatient and made really inappropriate remarks. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable so feel free to ask questions as you make your way around this vintage shop. Prices vary and I'm not a huge collector or purchaser of vinyl so you will have to make your own option there. However if you're looking for a cool place to stop in for some old school music (or even modern music in vintage styles) then here's your stop. In my novice opinion it appears they carry some newer stuff, with mainly your older to vintage finds but I am sure you can locate just about anything. read more

Wow I really enjoyed this place. I find a lot of the time when I go to a record store they pretty much all have the same thing, and I never like or find anything to buy, but Rock & Roll Heaven was a completely different story. The store is set up in about three or four different rooms. The store itself is mostly vinyl records with some dvds, cassettes, cds, and a few toys here and there. You can also get posters to line your walls up like I did as a kid. Honestly, you could spend hours here scouring the rows for that perfect find. For me, I have a soft spot for 90's and early 00's r&b and pop music which isn't usually the big item in stores like this which cater to more classic rock and alternative genres, but I found so many vinyls that I wanted to buy, each around $10 to $20 depending on the record. Some I thought were a little steep but supply and demand I suppose? The guys working were nice and offered assistance as needed but really I was happy walking around aimlessly hoping for that treasure to be found. I definitely would like to come back next time I'm in the area. read more

As much as I enjoy coming in here with my daughter as she checks out the vinyl records, t-shirts, posters; and, keychains, I do not enjoy breaking out in a sweat from looking at the prices. I don't think I found one record that was under $15, including used, released vintage. Many were $40, $50, and some even more. My wife had brought a box of records to try to sell; and, they told her they were worthless, so she just left them at the store for nothing. I know these things sit on the shelves for months; and, many probably never sell; and, they do have overstock in the back. But, WOW! I just can't get over the prices. My daughter did okay, as she found a keychain and a couple of pins, which she bought for about $5, not bad! read more

Pros: it had a lot of selection. There were records everywhere and I was able to find a record that I hadn't found yet. They offered sanitizer to customers which I appreciate for safety. Cons: there were records everywhere! The isles in the back were filled to the point where you were unable to walk down the aisle, but instead had to shuffle to get squeezed between the display and the boxes in the middle of the aisle. There was stuff all on the walls; little pieces of memorabilia, which is cute, but just adds to the overwhelming energy in the building. There were points where the staff were not wearing masks which was a bit concerning to me as it is tight quarters stuffed to the max already. read more

Everything is organized, awesome finds and Jim makes sure to let you know that everything is basically mint! The quality on these records are near to perfection. Unfortunately, I started my vintage record collection last year by visiting Rock and Roll Heaven. I say "unfortunately" because it led me to have an unrealistic expectation for every other used record store around the country. The offering here is HUGE! I didn't know how special this place was until I started visiting other shops. I've been to Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle... all shops are run by nice people who try hard. But Rock and Roll Heaven has anywhere between 5-10x the number of titles of anyone else. And the guys somehow know every album, every release date, every cover art... I don't know how they do it. Took a drive into Orlando to check this place out and felt ultimately disappointed. At first glance, this place should be killer. They have 3 rooms filled with all kinds of vinyl. They even had a section of used goth and industrial, something I've never seen. The used vinyl seemed to be in great shape. There were two main problems: 1) The pricing was ALL OVER THE PLACE. We found a Miles Davis album for $20, which was a good deal. On the other hand, they had A Flock of Seagulls and Herb Alpert albums for $40 each. Used. Nothing special pressing-wise, just horribly overpriced. I found a Hawkwind "Quark..." new reissue for $50. Why? It's a $25 album on Discogs. You might find some gems if you're willing to spend the time, but it was a no from me. 2) For a place called "Rock & Roll Heaven," they had some questionable sorting. Looking through their metal section, I found Soundgarden, Mad Season, and Morphine. MORPHINE?!? Herb Alpert in the rock section (did I mention the $40 copy of Whipped Cream...?) and other strange decisions, but then a really good section of indie rock. It felt like maybe the owner knew his classic rock or jazz, but had no knowledge or interest in other genres. Strange place. Might be fun if you're in the area, but wouldn't recommend for the serious collector. read more

I checked out this store while in town, one of four in the area that I made the rounds to. The vibe I got was this place is for the super duper serious audiophiles.....or a novice who isn't familiar with market pricing. I say that as 100% my personal take and not as a dig on their business. I'm sure they do well and having been running this store for a considerable amount of time. As others have commented, the pricing is substantial here. I'm prone to drop good money on "grail" records if found in the wild just as much as digging in dollar bins, but competitive pricing on things I've seen in other stores across the country or even online suggests it's pretty expensive to do business here. The adage - "you get what you pay for" is just that - but from my experience their pricing was a turnoff. The store layout was confusing to me as well. To be fair, records are on one side of the store, CD's and the like on the other. But I couldn't find much contemporary music unless I dug through virtually all the bins, and categories like "Indie Rock" for Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, etc. Pop and Dance were also separate, so it wasn't easy tracking things down. Their hip-hop section was expansive, but they mixed in DJ 12"s which made searching more time consuming. To their credit, many and many of the LP's they had were either still sealed in shrink or lightly opened shrink. Generally that's great for collectors. But these records, when found in this shop, had even higher prices that one could reasonably imagine. Gleaning from the decorations and memorabilia they have, these guys live for and love music. I give them props there. Likewise, they do have some great/hard to find in that condition items in their inventory. I didn't find anything to pop on during my visit though. Like any store I visit, I hope for the best. This store was just not congruent for my kind of collector. The pricing is just too prohibitive to doing business. I'd encourage you to find out for yourself, if so inclined. read more

Hubster and I wanted to check out a local record store while in town visiting my parents. A quick yelp search revealed Rock & Roll Heaven as one of the popular ones in town. So we hopped into to the car and made our way to the store. Parking is limited in the lot, so you may need to park on the street. We came in on a Saturday late afternoon, so we didn't have an issues with parking. The store was one of the largest I've been too. They had a huge selection of vinyls that span across 3 sections. It was so extensive that it felt a little overwhelming. We spent an hour in here before we found something we wanted that was reasonably priced. This was one of the most expensive record stores I've been to and I live in Atlanta. Average cost of a vinyl was $25-$40 new/used, however, we've seen some stuff upwards to $60. We did end up purchasing a record that we haven't been able to find in the city for a reasonable price, so we considered that a win for us. Cool place to check out, but you may be able to find it better priced elsewhere. read more

I seldom visit Orlando. But on a recent business trip, I decided to scope out some of the vinyl shops. Rock & Roll Heaven was the first one on my list. I was impressed with the size of the store as well as the large selection. As other reviewers have pointed out, they're proud of their merchandise. Their prices are on the high side but, on the whole, seem commensurate with the quality. They did not appear to have any junk and I don't mind paying a premium for good vinyl. Be aware of the fact that it is easy to overpay. I found one LP priced at $60. I very nearly bought it. It was very nice. But not $60 nice. I did end up buying a copy of "Goodbye, Cream". It was an original (1969) pressing with a NM cover along with original poster (hard to find) and inner sleeve. I was happy to pay $40 for it. It was marked NM. However, I found the vinyl to be not quite up to snuff. I am not a grading expert. But the LP had more crackle than I would like to hear, especially for NM. The good news is that I already had a copy of the album with exceptionally nice vinyl but no poster along with a VG or VG+ cover. So I swapped discs. Now I have a NM cover, poster, and LP and the old cover and new disc are in my trade box. Would I go back? Absolutely. The proprietors are very personable. That's a big PLUS in my book. Don't go here looking for cheap stuff. But go look around and drool over the large selection. read more

The brothers that run the place and the guys that work there should be forensic researchers cause they can find it, or they have it, or can track it down. I took a coworker here one time after a music discussion on an album that came out in the late 60's. It was a guitar compilation with various famous and non famous artist. They probably only made so many copies and then it disappeared. He had been searching for this particular album for years. I mean years, I said did you try Rock and Roll Heaven? He had a blank look on his face that I took to mean NO. So I called and asked for the album, I was on hold for about a minute when the guy came back on the phone and said which volume you looking for? I have 1, 2, and 3 here in the store! However it kills the experience for me when new records are on average $5 cheaper at Park Ave. Most everything in the store isn't priced to sell. I'll be the first to admit, I don't know very much about vinyl, but my boyfriend is a fan and I love flipping through albums on shelves, so we stopped by. My favorite part of this store is all of the movie and music memorabilia that lines the walls and shelves throughout the store. You could spend time just walking the perimeter of the store and checking everything out. There are three large rooms with vinyls to look through. Everything seemed to be categorized nicely and easily and the store is jam packed with stock which can make it difficult to squeeze around their patrons, especially if it's busy. I especially liked their boxes with leftover Record Store Day special albums. We price checked a couple of newer albums with costs online and their costs seem to be a bit higher than what you could find elsewhere. I know other Yelpers boast about their collectors items, so this may really be their specialty. We'll be back! read more

Simply the most amazing variety of CD & LPs anywhere in town. This shop has been featured in Rolling Stone, MTV and various around town magazines. It is an institution. If they don't have it on the shelf they'll order it for you. I've been in there several times and witnessed one of the owners assist a customer with trying to figure out a song based on the year it came out, or what was on the cover. Ray is a trove of information. He is an encyclopedia of music. He can tell you the label, the B side, the people in the backup band. You owe it to yourself to patronize Rock & Roll Heaven. It is the only place in Orlando to buy used LPs. Ray has stringent guidelines on what he'll even take in to sell. He absolutely does not sell junk scratched or fingerprinted LPs. I have to echo what some other users have pointed out. In a nutshell- it's overpriced. I moved from another state and the vinyl prices in here are about double what I'm used to paying. A used Beach Boys record for $30 ? Nah. And I'm not talking about Pet Sounds mono. Even some of the used horror DVDs I was interested in were overpriced. Some good points: They have a punk section, hip hop, lots of new 180g stuff mixed in with the older stuff, all categorized by band. The store is fairly easy to navigate and the guys who helped me out were friendly. Finally, the selection is expansive and the amount of stuff they have is fantastic. If this is where all of the records and cassette tapes have gone to live out eternity, then I think the name is truly fitting. If you are looking for a random Barbara Streisand cassette, or a Culture Club record, then you are in luck because Heaven has it all. Before entering, you can get a glimpse into their variety by the various posters that cover the windows. You'll find Frank Sinatra next to Green Day. And the speakers blasting tunes inside and out happened to be playing Meatloaf. From movie posters, to pins, to random rocker tees such as Jefferson Starship, they have carved out a place on N. Orange Ave. for all things random where music is concerned. Largely advertising on their front window, "1,000 CDs for $5" I would guarantee that they have just what you have been looking for. Plus, if you have old CDs that don't get played anymore, you can sell them here. What I was most astounded by was their collection of historical entertainment memorabilia. And by that I mean games, toys, dolls, etc. that represent the trends in our entertainment history. Think Donny and Marie collector dolls and Dennis the Menace replicas. I checked out Rock N' Roll Heaven recently. This review is very hard for me because this shop is everything I love about a record shop. I've been to some of the best shops up and down the east coast and plenty of other ones in other parts of the U.S. I must say it's rare I give two stars for so many good things...but I walked out with only 1 record and here's why... THE GOOD... -digging for hours -tons of inventory with some really nice stuff -plenty of crates and bins to dig through -people who worked there seemed friendly -sells other media too such as cassettes, 8-tracks, VHS and more -some nice hard-to-find records -very well organized -eclectic mix of all genres -lots of reissues and new vinyl (if that's your thing) -has restroom THE BAD... -PRICE GOUGING!!! To the highest degree! It hurt my eyes and my love for record collecting seeing how much they wanted for countless titles. Especially bargain bin stuff anywhere else they are looking to get $15+. I would have walked out with a giant stack, perhaps spent a $100 easy, but I couldn't get over the price tags of $20, $30, $40 and more. I also zeroed in on the date of the price sticker. Way too many records have been sitting on the shelf for too long. Even the cassettes were pricey. It really bothered me because I really loved everything else...major, major disappointment!!!!! -no listening station that I could find -too many 12" singles mixed in with LPs Overall, I'm glad I stopped in so I could explore and dig through a lot of the inventory. I have visited music stores across the nation and this store is without doubt the most overpriced store I have ever visited in my life. Examples: CD's are priced at $8 and up. Cassette tapes are priced $7-10. There are few records priced under $15-20, and those that are $15 are very commonplace records. Case in point, today I flipped through the Dan Fogelberg section. His albums are so easily found you can barely give them away. Yet Rock and Roll Heaven has them priced $15-20 each. So here at the extreme, what you could find for $1-3 in most markets averages $20 here. I saw numerous such examples. Buyer beware. Check Discogs and eNay prior to any purchases. When I was in college I found a love for old school vinyls, and was curious if there were any stores in the area where I could pick up a few. A quick Google search turned up Rock & Roll Heaven. One visit and it instantly because one of my favorite hangout spots. You can seriously lose yourself here for hours on a weekend afternoon. In terms of music, they have it all. Used records. LPs from today's hottest artists. CDs. 8-tracks. Not to mention a TON of rock and roll memorabilia. It's a collectors paradise. The older crowd will get an awesome feeling of nostalgia looking through their vast assortment of old records. The younger crowd might get a little bit of music education. Because, let's face it, music back in the day was just better! The guys who own and run this place and totally awesome. Very friendly and laid back. And why wouldn't they be? They have the dream job! I wish I went to work at Rock & Roll Heaven every day. Special thanks to them for helping me track down not one, but two original versions of the Dark Side of the Moon vinyl. The important thing to understand is that these are near mint to mint records and that as such prices are based on collector end points. If you're just looking for beaten copies of Fleetwood Mac, go elsewhere. If you're ready to collect, and care for, LP RECORDS...then you're ready for HEAVEN. I've only seen records of this grade and pricing at record fairs and then only as a small part of a seller's holdings. This is the best place in the USA to locate intact era records bar none. For example, a 1970s original Tangerine Dream, Stratosfear LP that was flawless and goes for slightly more online was $20 here. A bargain since I hate buying records I haven't held unless I know the seller. So If you really see something here you like and it is pricey; step back, go home, do your research. I think you'll find that once you know what you're talking about, you'll get their pricing (and maybe you'll know enough to haggle). Frankly, I've never been more impressed, and more assured of the grading of LPs than I was during my rather long visit here on 12/30/14. read more

I'm not sure what exactly this place is, but it isn't *really* a record store. Not in the sense that they actually want to sell records. One word of advice from the owner: pay no attention to the records in the crates under the top shelf. You'll see that they have a huge stock of those "rare" records they're trying to sell for $20, $30, $50 and up, and those records have been sitting in those crates for decades, untouched and unsold. I visited this place for the first time recently and was "caught" by the owner rifling through those records under the top shelf. I was finding great albums for $4, $8, etc. Really good deals. Then he broke it to me that those records aren't for sale and needed to be re-priced. I had my eye on the Crowded House self-titled, which was priced under the table at $4.00. The price tag had a date of 1995 on it, and there must have been 20-30 copies of it. Here's the thing: Crowded House was popular in 1995. They had a track on the Reality Bites soundtrack. And you couldn't get $4.00 for it then. Why are you trying to get $20.00 for the album now, when most people don't care about Crowded House, and you haven't been able to unload one of their definitive albums for 20 years? This place doesn't want to sell records. The store is basically a front for the owner's hoarding habit. I don't know how they stay in business. Oh, did I mention they also have t-shirts? Some of them are for sale, but some are just for decoration. There was a girl in the store who found that out the hard way. I did end up making a couple of purchases, including a Split Enz album I found on the top shelf for $8.00. Great deal. The owner rang it up and told me, "I'll let this one go," like I was trying to pull one over on him. The price tag was from 1998, and the record had been collecting dust for 17 years. It was about time he "let it go," but not before making me feel like a shoplifter. And the record skips. A lot. Which might have been fine if it had been a guilt-free $4.00 purchase. With the horrible experience I had here, it's not even worth trying to return or exchange it. I never want to go back. read more

This is the best Record Store in Orlando! They have everything you could ever want for and an amazing selection of $1 records to dig through. The staff is so nice and always helpful. Even if what you are looking for you cannot find, they will keep an eye out and notify you when they find it and then get it for you to purchase, which really helps with hard to find records.
