Spent $250 on some plants. Three days later I noticed one was dying because of an aphid inspection. I called them and they said bring it back for exchange. 30 min later I showed up and was told they do not do exchanges for plants as they are living things and if my dog peed on it they would have no way to know. When I insisted I had talked to someone and I expected them to honor the phone call, that person came and let me exchange my plant. Poor training or poor customer service, either way not a pleasant experience. read more

Have tried unsuccessfully to get a project quoted, never heard back after they came by to scope the project.

I went to the business location to look at the product samples and ordered the redwood nuggets and the DG. The customer service team was available on-site to discuss my small job and answered all of my questions. They double-checked my estimates for the amounts to order and we made adjustments. The delivery person was helpful as well on suggestions for moving the product. The quality of the product delivered was exactly the quality of the product I ordered from their sample tray. The delivery person notified me ahead of the anticipated time of delivery - just as planned. It was a small job for them, but a big job for me and I appreciated the quality of service I received. I felt the pricing was reasonable as well. Highly recommend. read more

I would never recommend this place to anyone! They did not deliver on time and don't even call to figure things out. Had to talk to them about 10 times to get nothing but we will be there first thing the next day. Still didn't show up and had to use someone else! I ordered this way ahead of time because this job was an overnighter out of town. They almost cost our company to have to stay another night because of it. When you call up and make a reservation a week and a half ahead of time for a specific time slot...I expect one of two things to happen: 1. You show up ready to work 2. You call ahead of time to let the customer know you are not able to make it. I received neither from them. When I call the next day to ask why I was not notified, I was immediately told to talk to the owner. The owner gets on the phone and immediately says "What do you need?" As if I'm the problem...I proceed to explain to him how they did a no call, no show, he says that's the nature of business! I explained to him, no that's not how you run a business, and you certainly don't answer an upset customer with "What do you need?" This owner clearly has NO IDEA how to handle poor employees and has horrendous customer service with zero accountability. If you need your time wasted, for an over priced service that thinks they don't need to have good customer service to stay in business then surely call these tools!! They are laughable at best!! read more

We hired them to complete weed abatement. All that was done was someone sprayed and they charged us an exorbitant amount. When we called them out on not removing the weeds they said " Well, we'll do that, but for an additional cost". Horrible customer service and poor execution of the job. read more

These guys came highly recommended by our general contractor and landscape architect. Their prices were 20% higher than the other bids, but we decided to go with them because of the strong recommendations. What a disappointment. We used these guys for installation, maintenance, winter preparation, and spring cleanup for a couple of years. A significant number of our plants have died under their watch (this is BEFORE the epic winter we just had). I counted 100 orphaned drip heads before I stopped counting (and I was only part way around the house). This year's Spring cleanup and irrigation turn-on was a joke. Most of our trees and shrubs are still wrapped and a number of irrigation lines leak or are missing drip heads. Once this season's maintenance contract is done, we'll be looking for a new company. I would have fired them earlier, but our general contractor was managing the relationship until our home was completed this Spring. read more

Undergoing a huge yard makeover and this place has been fantastic to work with. Been in and out of there around 15 times now and every time has been a good experience. They have a nice variety of bulk materials (mulch, gravel, soils, etc) and are quick to load the truck up and get you back on your way to finish those time consuming projects. Workers are friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend them as a business and will continue to shop there. read more

Wish I could go lower than a single star. While their website provides a great deal of useful information, getting a person answer the phone is impossible, and after a trip to their location to see if they were selling bulk materials at 11:15, I returned hone and brought my trailer to load it up. I arrived at 12:15 and they were closed. Not a single reason given for suddenly being closed, when the schedule on google says open till 4. I heartily recommend using the Rock Garden for bulk materials as at least their hours of operation are predictable. Villager Nursery is also a much better choice with master gardeners staffing the business every day, and a much more thorough selection to choose from. In the future if I am given the option of using this company I would rather not undertake landscaping projects on the weekends, and would probably drive to Reno even if they are "open". In conclusion I will say that they were an epic waste of my time and effort which will not be forgotten quickly. Please patronize the Villager Nursery instead! read more

I've been so inspired by the work I've seen R&R do at other homes in the region, especially in the Martis Camp community, that I chose them for my landscape at my home in Incline. As each approved phase rolled out I got so excited by what I was seeing I kept adding more and more to the scope! As we start another planting season I can't wait to see what comes next! I had an awful experience with Rock & Rose. We carefully planned the work, including walking the lot twice together and settled on a written agreement with a detailed scope of work, description of materials, plot plan, and a specific, fixed cost. I went with Rock & Rose even though their cost was higher than a couple of other small contractors because they seemed very professional and they said their relatively large crew could finish the work quickly with their specialized equipment. Though the guys on the crew were pleasant and gave me an opportunity to practice a bit of Spanish, they spent a lot of time spinning their wheels. I wasn't onsite during all of their work because I'm not home for much of the day when I'm working, but my observant neighbor called me a few times noting that the crew spent a lot of time horsing-around. I didn't worry because we had a fixed-price agreement--but it apparently caused them to go beyond the time they had anticipated the work would take. They also took weeks to complete the work they did finish, disappearing for several days at a time despite their promise to complete the work in only a few days. Though much of the work they completed was good, unfortunately, they never finished, leaving a major element undone. My request to speak with the manager about the incomplete element and a few smaller issues went unanswered. Several weeks later, I was shocked when I received a bill for nearly 50 percent more than we had in our written agreement--and despite their not completing a major element of the project. When I protested, the owner and his staff sent me nasty e-mails, accusing me of short-changing them despite the fact that we had a detailed, written agreement on scope and price. They refused to discuss the fact that they hadn't completed a key element of the job. I will never hire this company again and suggest avoiding them--even with a tightly-written agreement. read more

Very disappointed in this group. When asked to do landscaping, they placed plants and trees in random places without any type of planning. They came out to reassess their landscaping which they agreed needed correcting and then charge us for the appointment! Wouldn't use them again. read more

The Rock and Rose is such a good company, Really good hard working crew. I'm extremely satisfied with the way this guys have my garden. The ONLY reason I'm giving a 1 star instead of a 5 star is because I do not know how they keep that irresponsible and overbearing employee. Called twice already Tasha promise a call back, is been 2 weeks and I'm still waiting plus it was so embarrassing a few months back to see the way that tasha girl talked to her coworker in front of customers. I really hate arrogant people and she definitely is one of them. I been doing business with this company for a few years and everyone have been great especially Armando and Deanna. I do recommend this company, but do suggest avoiding her if you need thing done. read more

Only good things to say about Rock & Rose. Estimate came back fast; upon agreement, crew came in a couple of days. We had a whole sprinkler system with drip lines installed, landscaping and a large swale made. Crew was fast, courteous and did a great job. I had to give them 1 star because I couldn't rate them any lower. They never showed up when they were supposed to complaining that they were short staffed. They don't have a staffing problem they have a scheduling problem. I have been dealing with Matt and he is just one excuse after another. He promised he would turn my sprinklers on, he never did. I told him he was trying to kill my lawn and plants so that they could provide new ones. I will never use this company again. Please use any other company besides Rock and Rose, I sure will next time. I have a $15K job coming up in Lahonton and you can guess who's not getting the job. read more

Initially Rock and Rose had hit a four star rating. They completed my job in the fall and things looked good. Then winter happened and spring followed with 11 plants that died. They were too busy to come and look at the dead plants early in June when the snow melted. Not enough man power and then not enough plants to replant. After thousands of dollars they are not willing to just replant. I would have shared the cost but not an option. Customer service... in the one star category. read more

I had this company come look at my yard a month ago. Still no plan or bid, just a stack of unreturned calls and emails.

I can't really rate their work as they never have gotten back to me on a bid for my job. I've emailed and called multiple times, each time hearing they will send the bid out by the next day, and the next day comes and no bid. I stop in when I'm in town and the folks at the desk know nothing about it........they say they will find out on Monday when the full staff is back. Maybe if they agree to do your job they are good, but I wouldn't know as I never got that far......... read more

I met Matt on a Saturday needing lawn and yard care. He emailed a proposal Sunday that I accepted, a simple one page contract by Monday morning that I signed and the workers were at my house mowing etc. by Monday afternoon. Matt from Rock & Rose is truly as good as it gets. I have a vacation rental company and put a desperate plea out on a local facebook page for snow shovel services. Matt reached out to me and has been a lifesaver ever since. He and his crews are professional, timely and they work hard! I had a situation with a leaking propane tank that the tenant had not kept dug out per the lease agreement. It was 6pm on a Friday, presidents weekend. Matt personally came out to the house in Alpine Meadows (after he was already warm and cozy at home) and helped get the tank cleared for the propane company to drop a temporary tank. I have not had that type of customer service from anyone in this field of work before and appreciate it so much! He also is proactive in that if he is in the neighborhood and notices a house we manage could use some clean up he'll call to see if reservations are coming up and if they should just take care of it. I can't say enough good things about Matt and Rock & Rose. I would recommend them over anyone else and will continue to use them for years to come.
