One of Western Turfs trucks dumped a crapload of pebbles onto the freeway and wiped out my windshield... even after following their truck and reporting it, sending video and photos and attempting to get the company to do the right thing they refuse to take responsibility for their drivers mistakes. Now my insurance company is pursuing them to the fullest extent of the law... so if you want a company that doesn't take responsibility for its employees actions then choose these jokers. Oh and they don't wear masks either, so take that into consideration. Response to your response. Firstly... Your trucker had no mask on when he interacted with me . Secondly there is a thing called sender of focus and glass it meant to be seen through. Trust that I have sent Plenty of video, photos of the 8 major chips two small cracks and the putting caused by your truck. You never even requested to see the damage that occurred that day. You ha DJI intention of even considering the possibility that your driver was at fault. Trust that my insurance company has all of that evidence and is pursuing this to the fullest extent possible. If they don't recover my expenses to replace the windshield then I will litigate. Your company was at fault and you at no point even attempted to do any due diligence because you fully intended to take this route. I'd be happy to show you the damage but your too sheisty to handle this properly. You have my number. And I will continue to be very vocal on all social media platforms, BBB and any where else I can find until this is handled properly. And you question my integrity hah when I have my own insurance company review the video and the damage to my windshield and they agree and want to pursue it as well? This is a matter of principle to me now... the simple fact I tried going to your company expecting you to be fair and at least ask to look at the damage. It just shows the true ethics of this company... do something wrong, avoid, deny, blame... except don't follow the ethical course and want to remedy the situation or call me a liar to my face. I chased your truck down on a Saturday when I had to be a job site... but I wasted my time to chase down your trucker, get details, take video, contact you, contact my insurance company and risk a fraud complaint all over a $500 windshield deductible? I have been doing business with Western Turf for numerous years. Before the Owner Henry retired. I sold my Landscaping Company to my Son. He too, was doing business with Western Turf for numerous years. A few Western Turf Employees said, If you pay cash, we can hook you up with more product or less money. The Employees was doing this with dozens of Businesses. Western Turf finally caught on. They fired their Employees. Western Turf also drops All the Businesses that were caught. Even thou it was their Employees that was doing the damage!! I wasn't even involved in any of these shenanigans, but was asked to leave their office today. They even had one of their Employees, walk up to me and take his glasses of, ready to punch me and throw me out. read more

I placed an order for 760 sq feet and picked it up Saturday. The staff were friendly and got me in and out quickly. I was concerned with the amount of sod they loaded, but the loader confirmed it was enough. After getting it home and laying the sod, I had less than one roll left. I guess the person that loaded my trailer was correct. read more

We ordered sod for our entire backyard, and it is very healthy. Reasonable prices and helpful staff. Im surprised by what other reviewers stated about poor customer service; we did not have that experience at all. The folks on the phone helped us pick what we needed, delivery was on time, and the delivery guy was very friendly. After a backbreaking day of laying sod it looked great, and the advice we were given got it rooted and stable. It looks just as healthy as the day we received it. Price has about 30% less than I anticipated which was a nice surprise. They also made sure we had enough fertilizer and a sod knife so we could install it. Only one minor quibble- they did not give us the printed watering instructions they promised. Not a big deal since they also explained it verbally to us when we placed the order, but it would have been nice to have. Very minor; Im sure they would have reminded us had we called again and asked. Overall, we are very pleased with these folks. read more

Very satisfied with the whole bunch. Pleasant on the phone, knowledgeable and friendly. I purchased sod this weekend and asked for early delivery. It arrived before 8:00am. Nice. I asked that the driver call when he was on his way so I could put the dogs up. Got a call at 7:30. Pleasantly surprised. The sod? Beautiful. Not a weed anywhere and the grass was fresh, very green and healthy. All in all a seamless and very positive experience. I highly recommend this company and would do business with them any time. This place is a joke there yard hands are un able to read a tape measure and give you the correct size. that you pay premium price for so they try to cover there mistake by cutting extra pieces. If I want a ton of seams I would've saved money and purchase from other places in town at half the cost. Beware if you chose to get ripped off they will short your order. read more

Let me refresh your memory, but before I do I would like to clear up your misunderstanding for this review, I have no inclination to "hurt" any reputation of any business! Being a business owner myself I understand that you feel the need to discredit me with personal attacks to protect your reputation. However it is childish at best. If you feel your reputation is threatened, then maybe you should change the way you treat your customers. With that said let me clear up your misunderstandings. When I had spoke to you as I said in my review I had asked you if you could stay for approx 20 extra minutes, I had already had an estimate from 1 week prior. The time I would have needed was approx. 30 minutes, as I had explained to you. Furthermore I never "lashed out with anger" I don't get angry with businesses, you didn't have to accommodate my request, (and you didn't) I just patronize your competitors (and I did). Simple as that. As I had stated before I am also a business owner, and have asked my employees to stay longer then there shift requires on occasion to accommodate our customers. (that's what customer service is) I, and they would never consider it to be a compromise of there "safety and quality of life", Its called overtime. Im sorry you feel that my request for you to stay for an extra 30 minutes is seen to you as a "ridiculous, self centered request" I think you need to learn what customer service is, and learn what it means to be a manager. Yelp is a place where you can tell of your experiences with business, that's what I did. The only reason I am going further with this retort is because you attacked my character with various inaccuracies in which I would like to clear up. When I first started contemplating taking up the (not so hot) sod in my front yard and putting down some new stuff, I asked my (pros in the field) friends where to get what I needed, the replies were UNANIMOUS and I can now see why. Western TURF had everything I needed to obtain (soil and sod as I am a DIYer)---all great stuff all ready in a very timely manner, so no "oopsies" to screw up the planning timeline. We had 4.5 yards of Triple Soil Mix delivered to my front yard and it was EXACTLY ON TIME. After I got that all contoured/leveled I went to pick up about 700 Sq ft of sod (about a pallet and a half of rolled sod) and it proved to be ready EXACTLY when I needed it and it was very good quality. All Western employees were great to deal with and there was NO screwing around at all....just wham, bam, thank you ma'm (and the guys, too). If I EVER have to do more sod or am asked about from whom/where to get it, I will ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND Western Turf!! read more

Called this place on Friday for a Saturday delivery and all went smoothly. The truck shoed up at my house before 8AM on Saturday which was nice because we could get started laying the sod down before the heat of the day took over. The driver suggested that he could put the pallet in the middle of the driveway so we could still maneuver around it with the cars. I appreciated the thoughtfulness. The prices were very competitive even with the delivery fee and at least I know it was grown locally. Not a knock on Home Depot but I have no idea where their product comes from or how it will fare in our high dessert climate. The sod looks great and the customer service is top notch. read more

Purchased sod from them on 06/02/2016. Upon being loaded into the back of my truck, the forklift completely scratched the entire tailgate of my truck. Called the office manager and was told that they are not responsible for the damage and will not pay for the repair. I will never recommend this business to anyone in the area. Fantastic place for all hardscape products and sod, its great because they are starting to carry rock, base, topsoil etc, so when you are picking up your pavers you can pick up the base as well! David, the driver of the rig and fork lift invited our grandson to sit in the driver's seat and let us take pictures. He was so proud to be sitting on that fork lift. I am so happy with the sod I got from Western Turf. Yes, I just put it in yesterday and today but it is beautiful. It is so much better looking than the sod I've seen at the big box stores and other sod places in the area. I called them multiple times because I decided to add sod knives, checked on my delivery time and then ended up with some extra sod... Every single time I talked to them they were friendly and helpful. They couldn't take the extra sod back but I understand that, plus they were very pleasant and helpful about it! It's nice that they deliver, because having to pick up a bunch of sod would be a huge pain! The driver was very nice, when I said I wanted it left in my driveway he had me sign a release to come onto my property, yes the fork lift left some marks but they were long gone by the time I was done putting everything in. Now I hope I never have to but if I do I will buy sod from them again without hesitation! Now to just keep the darn rabbits off my new lawn! read more

We have ordered at Western Turf twice before. We placed our third order last Saturday; we received nice fresh green sod (instant grass). The sections of sod are 2 feet wide by approximately 56 to 57 inches long. They have two kinds of grass and we got the Blue Derby type and it is supposed to be good for sunny and shady areas. My understanding is that the other type of sod is deeper rooting and is more resistant to drought and wear & tear. I opted for the Blue Kentucky Derby since we live in Tahoe. Delivery is free if you get over 1,000 sf or $85 if you order under 1,000 sf (do double check). The pallets are $12 each and they hold 500 sf of sod that weights about 2,500 lbs. If you return the pallets they will give you back the $12 per pallet. Also, the forklift drove the sod to the back yard. That saves us some time from hauling from the driveway to the backyard. I think the cost per sf is around 43 cents per sf if you pick up the sod and 49 cents if Western Turf delivers to you (do double check). Customer service was great every time. read more

Called them, picked up our sod at 10. W even came back for more because it looked so move I decided to do more of the yard the originally planned. The yard is done and its barely noon!
