I was drawn to this salon because of the pride flags outside. I saw a lot of good reviews for Rita. I think my haircut is pretty good. I was not prepared for her ideology- it does not square with the pride flags outside. They were put there by a former employee during pride month. Everyone can believe what they want to believe and Rita believes that being LGBTQAI+ "is a sin no better or worse than lying or murder. We are all sinners." She is free to believe what she wants to believe and you are free to give her your business. read more

I just want to say that Rita is so great!! I was a loyal Mari customer before she left. When Mari left, I was booked with a sub-par stylist (that I won't name bc she isn't there anymore), and left pretty disappointed... But I I took the chance to book at Brenda's again, this time with Rita. Rita not only understood my vision, but checked with me throughout the process and explained everything. My hair was damaged from the previously over-bleached highlights and she brought me back to a natural state with good recommendations. Book with Rita if you can! I got partial highlights done at Brenda's, by Rebecca. She pulled up photos on her phone to make sure she knew exactly the look I was going for (I wasn't totally prepared, and only came with a verbal description). She was easy to talk to and joke around with, which made it a relaxing experience. I wasn't pushed into getting a hair cut, since I'd like my hair to grow out. I didn't feel pushed into paying for any extra services, as sometimes is the case at other salons. I was also given shampoo/conditioner samples upon leaving. A great experience overall! read more

First, I so appreciate the convenience of online booking. It makes the life of a super busy customer like myself so much easier. I made an appointment at 10 pm and was able to book an appointment for the next day. I got two text messages to confirm my appointment within a few minutes of booking. I did it right through Yelp!! I got to the salon and found street parking pretty quickly on a Saturday afternoon. I walked in and was quickly greeted to check in for my appointment . My hair cut was with Bethany. She was very congenial from the start and quickly got to work. She shampooed my hair, making nice small talk and asking about how much hair I wanted to cut off. My hair was several inches past my shoulders, with a lot of dead weight and in drastic need of a change. After a nice scalp shampoo and wash, I was led to a chair and asked what I wanted done. I wanted my haircut just at shoulder length with longer layers and pieces to frame my face. I also requested thinning for my very thick hair and for a blow dry as well. Bethany was great. She asked lots of questions and asked for my input at many points during the cut. She must have thinned my hair for 10 minutes alone. After she styled and blow dried it, the haircut was great: shorter, thinner, and beautiful. I know this haircut will grow out well if I choose to let it grow out again. Once done, the payment was more than reasonable. The quality of haircut was wonderful. I definitely recommend. read more

I have lived in the neighborhood for a couple of years now and was hesitant to leave my old hair dresser, but given the convenience of Brenda's and based on the recommendation from a friend, I decided to check it out. Appointments were readily available, so I was able to schedule some time the next day to get a cut and blow dry. I had booked an appointment for a shampoo, cut, and blow dry at 5:30, but my girl's next person came in for an appointment at 6.. 30 minutes is definitely not enough time for that! Because of this, she was rushed to blow dry my hair (which is $15 extra) and I left with a still damp, frizzy 'do. Poor time management on their part and not worth paying for the blow dry. I have fairly long hair, and my normal haircut is long layers and a front angle. I was not very happy with how the layers turned out though, as they look kind of choppy and aren't gradual (the longest layer is significantly longer than the others and looks a bit odd). Service was friendly, so I'd recommend for a kids hair cut, but I probably won't be going back for a women's cut unfortunately. read more

So I decided to give Brenda's a try in preparation for an upcoming event. I challenged Brenda (my hairstylist) to color and style my hair as close as possible to the Halle Berry photo I had in tow. Brenda's hair stylist Cara Maxey and I had a consultation prior to me ordering Donna Bella extensions on their website. She walked me through how many to buy and gave me pricing to install them as well as move them up every 4 weeks. They are Kera tip (hot glue) and hardly any salon does them in this area. I would NEVER have ordered this style if she hadn't recommended it. Cara cancelled our 1st move up - a 4 week appt stating there was a death in the family and she didn't know when she'd return. When she did return she didn't reschedule with me. Desperate to get help, but not wanting to bother Cara if she was still out of town, I called the salon directly to reschedule. Cara was back, claimed she no longer did extensions, and she refused to do the move up. It turned out she was upset that I toned my hair after the install, which is very strange because she told me to tone it to the color I wanted using purple shampoo. She referred to me as "a situation she didn't want back in her chair". I was mortified. She has no idea how hurtful that was. She has no remorse and doesn't care what a bad situation she put me in because no one does these type of extensions at the price she's quoted. I can't recommend her for any hair service. She screwed up my color and had to go back in & highlight because she hadn't lightened long enough. She complained that the service took 6 hours. Maybe it took longer than she wanted because 1) when I arrived on time for my appointment she had taken a walk in 2) we were socializing and I bought her lunch 3) she didn't leave the bleach on long enough & had to go back & highlight. I genuinely thought that I'd found an amazing hair stylist and friend. So terribly disappointing that she would bail on our working relationship over me toning at home. How pretentious can you be that you'd fire a client for changing "your work" (her words). I also tipped her 40%. Don't go to this salon. Not if you're a loyal customer that sticks with one artist. What a sad & frustrating situation. I have to believe the explanation is that she doesn't need the money/clientele, but the disrespect she showed me leads me to think she's mentally unstable. I have long hair and was looking for a place that wouldn't cost $75+ for a 2 inch trim. I made an appointment with Nicole and I'm very happy with my haircut. She could tell just by looking at my hair I had some form of long layers and angles. After failed attempts at other places I found a place I can come back to that doesn't just cut hair but can style it. I got a great haircut for about $45 and will be coming back for future hair appointments. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a new hair place. read more
