I used a hodgepodge of my dad's clubs and my uncle's. The TaylorMade driver was straight as an arrow and hit straight and long where I wanted it. The chipping in this thick New England grass (rough) was another story. I think TEE BOXES were in pretty good shape. The CARTS have nice navigations systems. The course is a bit dry for early October so clearly, they did not see enough rain this year. Some fairways were a little chewy/patchy. The GREENS were in very nice shape. I had a better day there excluding that they were as fast as California which I did not anticipate but should have given the drier conditions. This is the best short course in this area and well beyond with some legit challenging holes and a diverse layout with sloping hills. Nothing boring to speak of my friends. The CLUBHOUSE is beautiful, and dad says the food keeps getting better and better.

There is enough water and heavy woods to lose a few balls, so if you tend to spray then you might need a few extra. The greens are generally very small. It's a good option that I frequent almost every time I'm in western MA.

If you end up playing here, though, you'll be treated to one of the best 18 holes you can play in Massachusetts. This course is very well maintained, and very challenging. There are almost no holes that you can survive with an innacurate tee shot. The course itself is very long, and has difficult shots around its very protected greens. The course was designed by Donald Ross, and you can see some of his trademark elements still in the design. If you' have enough money to become a member here, I would seriously consider it.

The whole place is well maintained, as they do host PGA (junior/womens) events from time to time. The greens play very fast towards the end of summer, and some of them slope in ways that will really frustrate anyone. Price-wise, the place is on the upper end if you have no college affiliation (about 140 or so) but is exceptionally cheap for students (35 dollars) so definitely a place to visit if you are in the area and still in school. The course is in fantastic shape and in a picturesque setting. The autumn foliage was still present and many holes were simply breathtaking. Oh but those hills! I am 64 and in good shape. I always walk and push a cart. Next time I will definitely rent an electric cart! I was nearly exhausted by the end of 18. The woman in the golf shop was super friendly and super helpful! A true people person whose love for golf and the course were obvious. One of my favorite courses in Connecticut. I will definitely be back!

But they mismanaged a tournament which resulted in getting out an hour after our tee time. It took over 3 hours to play 9 holes because the starters had no concept of course management and certain holes were backed up 2-4 groups deep at points. When we told the starter he just said "wow" very rudely and sarcastically, no sense of customer relationships whatsoever. To top it off we called ahead to pick up lunch at the turn on 8 and when we got in the cook hadn't even seen the ticket. We will not be playing here again, despite being regulars in the past.

Played 18 today on this picturesque 9 hole layout. Fairways were in great shape and there is some…read morepunishing rough along fairways and around greens. Biggest complaint is that most greens had been aerated and had customary sand throughout. But due to greens not being rolled there were small tufts of grass patches on a number of them. This made putting them quite unpleasant. I'd certainly play here again when greens are in better shape. A discount should have been offered for the shape they were in today.
