Awesome pet vet services! Its very courteous and diligent staff got us through the process to obtain an international travel health certificate. From the initial contact, appointment setup and paperwork filing, through the check up itself and thoroughly taking care of all the details within the proper time window prior to the trip, it all went SO smoothly. We contacted them Sept 24th, made the appointment for Oct 28, got the certificate in the mail on Oct 30, and will travel Nov 5. The cost? it all depends on where you are traveling, as the health requirements vary, we didn't really need any extra testing but just a confirmation all his vax, microchip, etc. were current. The cost also includes standard USDA fees, so the original estimate of $400-$500 for a 15 lbs. 2y/o dog traveling to Spain was quite accurate. Thank you so much to Dr. Ruggiero for being so sweet but thorough with our pup! Thank you Chastity, Christine and our super nice technician (Cayley?) who efficiently and very professionally assisted with all the process. I recommend this place to anyone that wants to have their pet taken care of in the most professional and caring way.

I was looking for a vet in the area for my cat. I called to make appointment as first time customer and was told they require $70 deposit just to make an appointment. I didn't have my wallet when I first called. So I called back later with my credit card and explained I am a new customer. They put me on hold. Ok fine, I'm a patient person. However after holding for 19 minutes , that's right 19 minutes. (The length of a whole TV sitcom without commercials).. I decided to hang up and look elsewhere. This is not a place I feel is capable of providing "quality" care. If they can disregard a new customer (pet) so easily , imagine a regular customer(pet)?

HBVC had been treating him for a recurring cough/wheeze for about 3 years. We'd reluctantly accepted that they were unable to diagnose the cause despite thousands of dollars of testing and treatment, and resigned ourselves to daily multiple medications to at least keep the cough and wheezing under some kind of control. We knew the medications wouldn't work indefinitely, and were as ready as you can be to say goodbye when it was clear that Chip's quality of life made that the best choice. That day came 2 weeks ago. We called the HBVC office at 9am and told the staff that we needed to speak to one of the vets about Chip's end-of-life. If you have pets you know just how awful that call is. Well, 90 minutes go by and no return call. So we called and asked again to speak to a vet about Chip. There's no way you could have spoken with us and not known how devastated we were. Again, no return call. We finally found an emergency vet and brought Chip in to hold him while we said goodbye. But from the people who had treated Chip for years, NOTHING. Finally, about 10 hours later, we got a call from the office. I can't tell you if it was a vet or not; they hung up without even leaving a message. And we haven't heard back from them since. We don't expect anyone else to love our dogs as much as we do, but we do expect our vets to at least respond during the most painful times in our dogs' lives. So we're finding a new vet for our other dogs. We won't forgive the extra suffering Chip went through that day and we won't forget that HBVC wasn't there for us.

Our dog had been seen here for an ear infection and was prescribed medication that initially seemed to help. Less than two weeks later, he became much worse. He wasn't acting like himself, was clearly in distress, and we knew something was seriously wrong. Because it was a holiday and an emergency, we returned here despite hearing numerous warnings from people in our community about this practice. We wanted to believe those comments were unfair. Unfortunately, our experience proved otherwise. What stands out to me more than anything wasn't just the lack of answers--it was the complete absence of compassion. We walked into that office terrified. We were worried about our dog, emotional, and looking to the professionals for guidance and reassurance. Instead, every interaction felt cold, detached, and transactional. Not one person acknowledged how frightened we were. No one offered reassurance. No one showed even the smallest amount of empathy. It felt as though we were simply another invoice rather than a family desperately trying to help a beloved pet. As the bill climbed past $1,000, we were presented with X-rays, discussions about hospitalization, and an emergency neurology referral before basic bloodwork had even been performed. Once the bloodwork was finally run, it showed a significantly elevated white blood cell count and other markers indicating a serious infection. Even then, we left without anyone taking the time to explain what those results could mean or what the next logical step should be. We were told our dog urgently needed a neurologist, yet we were expected to make those emergency arrangements ourselves. When we asked if the clinic could make the call since they considered it so urgent, they refused. To make matters worse, the neurologist we were referred to was no longer even practicing there. Imagine leaving an emergency veterinary appointment with a very sick dog, no diagnosis, no meaningful explanation, no confirmed specialist, and the feeling that no one in the building truly cared. The next day, we took him to another veterinary practice that had been highly recommended. The difference was immediate. Before anyone even discussed tests, they listened. They examined him thoroughly. They treated us with kindness, patience, and genuine concern. They performed only the diagnostics they believed were necessary and quickly determined that he had a ruptured eardrum and a severe inner ear infection. He was in tremendous pain. Once he received the appropriate treatment, he improved almost immediately. Every veterinarian can encounter difficult cases, and no one expects perfection. What I do expect is compassion, thoughtful communication, and the feeling that the people caring for my pet actually care. We experienced none of that here. After this experience, I finally understand why so many people in our community told us not to come to this practice. I only wish we had listened. I sincerely hope no one else has to watch their pet suffer while feeling as unheard, dismissed, and unsupported as we did.

With a dedicated appointment, these people made my cat wait 12 hours and continued to bump him for other patients without having any intake, questions, or indication what was wrong to have any understanding where he fell in the ranking order of priority. My cat could have had a fatal obstruction, but they priorotized dogs while making all the cats wait needlessly in pain. Their poor patient management and improper staffing (1 vet & 1 tech for a massive practice for a full 24 hour shift on a Saturday) is what prevented my cat from getting critical care from another more equipped vet earlier in the day due to their inability to manage their bandwidth. I was patient and waited 12 hours and opted for an appointment that I was told I would definitely have if I waited and came in later in the day, so I took it. I sat in the waiting room for three hours as I listened to the receptionist lie from one patient to the next that was calling or walking in saying they had multiple urgent animals in the back (they had one dog in an oxygen chamber). She repeatedly told customers the vet was "in over her head" and was turning people away. A fully alert dog with no visible injuries and showing zero signs of distress was whisked away ahead of my cat who is suffering in pain for an unknown cause. When I shared my frustrations with the receptionist, the veterinarian, who was supposedly caring to the "urgent" dog that was taken ahead of me only 3 minutes earlier, managed to step away from her "critical" care of the animal to come out and scream at me and make a scene in front of the whole waiting room. It was beyond unprofessional and if it was my animal that was supposedly critical, and she diverted her attention away to come out and chastise a pet owner for advocating for their own animal's health and well being rather than tending to my critical pet, I would question that veterinarian's judgment and oath to do no harm. Only someone with major impulse control issues would be unable to control their temper that they"d step away from such a supposedly "critical" case like that. The other cat that was forced to wait too was there a week earlier with a major jaw abscess infection they failed to heal and she was also waiting hours. It was clear the vet prioritizes dog care over cat care. Just walking inside the walls are filled with dog images only, no other pets. Their merchandise is for dogs only: bowls, leashes, toys, etc! Go on the website, the images, all dogs. The vet isn't smart enough to know she's showing her bias right in her marketing of the practice. They couldn't handle the caseload, and canine care outranked feline. The receptioniat assessed each dog coming in, but didn't even take one look in my cats direction. Dog owners were questioned upon entry, cat owners were told "the wait would be a while and to sit inside". PetOne is not equipped to run the type of business they present themselves to be. They never should have made my appointment if they couldn't manage the patient load and should have told me an appointment is not guaranteed, and that they are taking dogs over cats in order of priority. That failure of critical patient care prevented my cat from getting medical care hours earlier from a more reputable and capable facility as I had called at 10 am and had all day to seek out an alternative had I known my appointment wasn't real. This practice when they were located in Valley Stream had more legal services on staff than they did actual vets. They had so many legal issues, they were forced to retain full time council at one point to keep up with the case load of legions of unhappy customers/patients. Do your research on Central Vet in Valley Stream before you make the decision to bring your pet to PetOne. Their reputation is trash, just like the vet who stepped away from patient care to make a scene and yell at a human advocating for their animal.

She had to return her to demand appropriate pain management for the dog as she was only given gabapentin and Rimadyl (doggie Advil). Even women who have cesarean sections are given strong analgesia for at least 3 days postoperatively. My baby suffered for days. I called the office the following day to get information regarding her diet going forward, as bladder stones can definitely recur. Not only was I not given any information, but I was merely switched to another person who just asked for my financials to make payment for the "extra (much needed) meds." I was given a generic receipt, so my insurance denied the payment, and I was NEVER given the invoice for the surgery, which was almost 3k and paid in full up front. I sent an email requesting the invoice, and to date they refused to respond, so I will not be able to submit for the reimbursement. When my son called the office he was told that they "didn't know" about the insurance- even though it is on file. Although they claim they will submit, I don't have much faith that they will. Further, why was this not handled from the beginning before they tortured my baby? If a human patient is treated this way there are patient advocates & lawyers promptly involved. I guess things are different in Veterinary Medicine.... But animals deserve compassionate care, too. Some people love their pets more than their spouses. In addition, pet parents should be counseled regarding the operative course, what to expect, and how to manage their pets post-operatively at home. My family, and especially my dog, were traumatized by this experience. This vet got good reviews on Yelp for some reason; maybe they are acceptable for routine well care visits and minor illnesses. It is crucial to recognize that the business operates similarly to a primary care physician's office, where customers visit for their check-ups and all necessary medical records are readily available. Customers should not have to search for a new veterinarian or dog clinic, especially when they have been loyal customers for years. If there are no available appointments, a representative should provide a clear explanation. However, it is unacceptable that a customer service representative is not familiar with the business's criteria and cannot assist customers in finding future appointments. Instead of assuming responsibilities that are beyond their scope, customer service representatives should be trained to route customers to the appropriate departments. In my case, I am currently unable to make an appointments due to the lack of available appointments. Consequently, I must directly visit the business location to schedule an appointment.
