Beware of this place! Most chocolates and candy here are expired. I got chocolates and did not figure out they were expired or expiring the end of the month until a couple of days later. When I came back to return them, they refused saying that "they weren't expired when I got them last week!" I told them I will report them they allowed me to only exchange. You will love this place, if you have a severe sweet tooth. The place is overflowing with a vast variety of candy, but is lacking in one niche that is critical in my book: caffeinated candy (they do carry caffeinated sodas though). The setup of the store is so bright and alluring that it's a shame that my (non-caffeinated) sweet tooth has faded somewhat since I was a kid, so I can't fully enjoy it (probably a good thing). Except for the many caffeinated candies, gums and mints that exist, If you are seeking some kind of random, hard-to-find candy, gum or soda - assuming it is still made and available in the U.S. at all - you can probably find it here. Being somewhat of a caffeine addict, I had to partake in a can of green-apple-flavored "Whoop Ass". Whoop Ass is the Jones Soda Company energy drink brand (Jones Soda is the gourmet soda brand that comes in many novel, typically-uncaffeinated flavors, regularly found at places like BevMo and Costplus). I always keep my eyes *peeled* for new and novel energy drinks and never saw Whoop Ass before seeing it here. I think it would be nice if they just went ahead and carried all of the energy-drink brands like NOS, etc. (some of which can be hard-to-find, even though they are gas-station and 7-11 fare), but I am guessing that they are probably limiting their beverages to gourmet and novelty variety rather than gas-station beverages. The two drawbacks that I noticed about this place is that they are expensive (common candy that they sell, like Kit-Kat, is priced well above normal pricing elsewhere) and that they don't have any of the many caffeinated candy and gum varieties that exist. These caffeinated candy varieties include items such as Penguin Mints, Java Pops, Jolt Gum, "Caffeinated Nixie Tubes" and "Super Caffeinated Chocolate Rocks" - all easily found on the web and occasionally locally at places like Frys and random novelty/gift shops. I can understand the high pricing somewhat, due to the expense that they probably incur maintaining the novelty and variety of the shop, but really can't rate this place any more than three stars in my book, since they are lacking in one critical variety niche: caffeinated candy. read more

Yay! I'm such a fan of these mom n pop style shops. They have a wide variety of candy and soda. They have probably the most soda I've seen in a single shop. It was awesome! It was impossible to resist picking up a few choice rootbeers despite my girlfriend and I attempting to kick the soda habit. And we were able to grab some yummy looking candy while we were there. This candy store will take you back in time with all of the varieties of candy and chocolate that you don't see around anymore. They have a copious selection of items differing from Hershey Bars to Bacon Soda!! It's so crazy-some of the items they carry! I was impressed! This place is so much fun!! Nowhere else will you see the kind of selection found at this place from the old timey to the exotic to the plain weird. Take at least a good 10-15 minutes to peruse this store since most of the value is just in the experience of seeing all they have to offer here. My suggestion is to take the time to try all the different cool sodas that they have to offer. You can really learn and explore a lot. Start with some idea of what you like (cola, root beer, lemon lime) and try something out in the same section! The store is very well organized and kept up to promote this kind of exploration. If you do this, you will definitely surprise yourself with what you find. Some people complain about the prices here, but in my experience, those are normally the people who come to a store like this and buy something they could've gotten at CVS a few blocks away. If you don't want to be overcharged, leave the Sprite and M&Ms and get something new! read more

There are very few people in the world that can match my affinity for sweet treats. Thus, I have been to hundreds of candy stores in my short, yet fruitful, experience on this planet. And among those stores, Rocket Fizz ranks as one of my all-time favorites. I usually judge a candy store by three criteria: the ambiance, the deals and last but certainly not least the selection. And Rocket Fizz hits the highest of marks in each criterion. The ambiance is superb. Even at my darkest moments I know after taking one step into Rocket Fizz I could not help to have a smile overtake my entire face. The jolly tunes, friendly staff and the colorful, well-lit interior are everything you can ask for in a candy store. Moving on, as far as deals are concerned, Rocket Fizz may have the best deal for candy on the Westside. They have a selection of two sizes of plastic bags in which you can choose from an array of candies (mainly salt-water taffies and other candies of the "bottom-shelf" variety) to fill your bag. And if you are a patient bag-filler, you can find yourself with a pound of with watermelon taffy (by far the best taffy, although the boisenberry is a decent second option) and a variety of now & laters for $6.99. As a poor college student, I was incredibly grateful for this deal, as it kept my sweet tooth satiated while on a tight budget. But the fun doesn't end there, because the store also offers a wide variety of candy from all over the world. Their selection rating is off the charts. They even have the delicious White Rabbit Creamy Candy, a long-time favorite of mine from China which is a rare sight in candy stores these days. I can't say it enough, I truly love this place. To me, this is the west side version of Galcos Soda Pop Shop out in Highland Park. We don't actually come in here for the wide array of candy. We prefer the vintage soda selection, such as Americana cherry, black cherry and root beer. It's a fun stop in if you're in Westwood Village. read more
