I love candy, and this place is way better than Dylan's Candy Bar in LA. Rocket Fizz has great variety of candies and many that are very nostalgic for me. There are Asian candies that I remember always getting at the Asian supermarket when I was kid. They have a good selection of Mexican candy with my chili and tamarind favorites that I also enjoyed as a kid from the local ice cream truck. There are candies that remind of my trips to Europe with Baci and Milka bars. I was never a big fan of taffy until my boyfriend filled the $4.99 small bag with great flavors. I just love the blue raspberry and juicy pear. It's half soda pop and half candy. The soda pop collection is quite unique. It's a fun mix of flavors, selections, and names. It's a great spot if you're a fan of candy and/or soda. It's also a great spot for gifts. read more

Here it is plain and simple kids: This place has got what you want when it comes to pancreatic shock inducing needs. I came in looking for those sugar free gummy bears, yup they got 'em. Then I wanted a big giant gummy bear for my nephew. Yup, they got 'em. What I like are the bulk candy barrels in back. Here you can grab a sweet red licorice, lemon, or huckleberry chewy candy, and spend less than 50 cents. I like the vibe, selection, and the price. Usually I drop in on Thursdays while farmers market is going, but every now and then it's a nice "dessert" after a burger from next door. A 4-star candy place, just wish it was bigger. During our Westwood bar crawl, we passed this place on the way to Barney's, and I was in complete awe! Not only was the store bright and inviting, but so were the people working inside. I walked away with a king size whatchamacallit (which I haven't had in over a decade!), Rips, and BAZOOKA bubble gum. What the?! I even threw in a gag chocolate called "girth control." hehe. I found hilarious. What I really love about this place, other than the fact you can find some of the rarer candies and treats out there, is the nostalgia you get coming in. Soda bottles (yes, in GLASS), candies, taffy, sign boards, and more really help make this store just that much more unique. I will definitely be coming through there on every trip to Westwood. Overall, great ambiance, really sweet people, and a massive collection of candies and sodas that date back years and years ago. While the price is a bit on the steep side for much of what you find, the fact that most of what you would by is difficult to come by is a contribution to that. Honestly, I didn't find what I purchased unreasonable considering I have yet to see it anywhere else, but I definitely wouldn't walk in there to buy a package of red vines. What a great addition to Westwood! The largest selection I've ever seen of sodas and candy, including all things retro (stuff you've never seen or didn't know still existed) and international, too. It has such a fun vibe and so many conversation pieces to look at that I would totally stop in here after a dinner date in the neighborhood, or just to browse. Sodas, which span the whole store, are sold individually, so you can make your own unique, quirky six pack. No, things aren't cheap here, but with so many hard-to-find items and variety, it's well worth it to me. BTW, the little kid in the store (I think he might be the owner's son) is destined for a great career in sales. He started telling us about the Asian sodas (the ones with the marbles in the caps) and which were his favorites when he saw me looking at them, then he offered to get me a cold one from the case and open it for me. Then to "come back and tell him how I liked it" when we paid for everything. He just walked around that store, talking to people. I mean, this candy selection is off the charts. My husband is from Germany and gets so excited every time we're near by. They have his favs from home! You would never guess it but there's an amazing party space upstairs! I've been here for a few kids parties for karaoke. What a great idea! Love that the room contains the kids and if they're not into karaoke there is fooseball AND air hockey. Um, I kinda wanna have my birthday party here!! Pretty much any candy you could think of, with some pop culture items thrown in. Excellent stop for gourmet sodas and unusually-flavored chocolate bars. The fill-your-own-bag area with taffy and classic candies is a decent deal. However, a lot of the imported items have a substantial markup. You can find better prices on the Japanese goods, especially, at local Japanese supermarkets. A fun place to bring visitors to Westwood, or to satisfy a random sweet tooth. read more

This store is probably one of the, if not the best Candy store I have ever been to. They had a wall of soda which is better than any other store I have seen. They have like six flavours of kit-kat (i got green tea kit-kat! , though it cost a small fortune) , they had all kinds of candy, and they had candy I had never heard of! Customer service is nonexistent in this place. I bought a pack of Rocky for $4 (which is way too much). The sticks were so stale and smelled old. I brought it to the cashier's attention and she was so rude, dismissing the fact that their product is bad. As much as I want to give Rocket Fizz a 4, because they have a wide variety of sodas and candies that are difficult to find in L.A., I have to deduct for the fact that their customer service is inconsistent and they are extremely overpriced. I'm not a cheap person in the least, but I refuse to pay $3-4 for a movie sized box of candy that I can get from a drugstore for $1. I love the European selections of candy at Rocket Fizz. They have a lot of cool novelty items. They also have giant candy boxes that are typically only available at ItSugar. (I order from ItSugar online on occasion.) I found Hello Kitty soda at Rocket Fizz, which is awesome, especially since I have a HK collection, mini fridge included. They have a large selection of taffy. (Trader Joe's sells delicious pre-bagged taffy super cheap.) Their customer service is either really awesome or non-existent. I'm fairly certain the owner was there one day and he walked right past me, never saying a word, despite the fact that I was the lone customer in the store. Smh There's a 24-hour CVS down the street as well as a Rite Aid down the street on the same block and a City Target across the street from Rite Aid. I've come here a couple of times after lunch while walking around the farmers market. They have a great variety of candy, chocolates, soda and toys. I was happy to find they have Now or Laters here, I haven't seen those in years. Had to get them. I've also gotten airhead sour tape here and my Mom always gets rice candy. If you are in search of a hard to find candy or soda, this may be the place for you. Rocket Fizz has a ton of varieties and flavors of candies, sodas, and other trinkets and knickknacks. However, the prices are ridiculously high. All of the items that I looked at were between 100% to 1000% more expensive here than what I have seen at other stores. I bought a 18-piece pack of Now-n-Laters for $1.59, and it was not worth it at all. I'm sure I could have found this same pack for at least half the price somewhere else. Rocket Fizz is a good place to find hard to find items, but they come at a very steep price. I can't say I would buy something here again, but it was worth checking out. read more

Unfortunately, this Rocket Fizz is awful... On more than one occasion my husband and I have purchased expired candy from the store. We tried to overlook it the first few times but at this point, it's just gross. Retro Candy!! This place is just like Powell's Sweet Shoppe in Long Beach & Aliso Viejo. It's a retro store where you can get the candy you loved as a kid, pretty much regardless of how old you are now. They have nearly every candy you thought you'd make your long distance pen pal send you because there's no other way to get these things unless you take an airplane just to grab some candy. Rocket Fizz has those amazing original Cadbury bars you've always wanted from England because you know how America messes up chocolate somehow. They have Green Tea Kit Kat bars you thought you had to go to Japan to get. Realistically you can go to Nijiya market on Sawtelle to buy them for $6 than $12. They've got candy from all over the world, however a wee bit more expensive than you'd normally get them for from that original country. No more bothering your friends for candy from Switzerland or Asia when you can make a trip to Rocket Fizz & grab some odd flavored soda. This is a cool little shop plagued by a rather unfortunate location. The pros of Rocket Fizz have already been outlined by fellow Yelpers: big selection, easy navigation, obscure items seldom found elsewhere, and a bright and vibrant store that's very inviting. Unfortunately, anyone who has ever had the displeasure of trying to enjoy Westwood Village during what one may call peak hours can attest to the extreme burden known as parking on the popular west side. If you visit on a Tuesday at 2 in the afternoon you should find a spot with fairly little trouble, provided you're willing to shell out the bucks for a space in a lot or have no problems stalking others to their cars. My head begins to hurt trying to think about what this area of town is like on a Saturday. Really, this place just doesn't have the convenience factor. These soda shops are cool, but since I live in the South Bay none of them are close. There used to be a similar style store called Buzz Pop in Hermosa Beach, but that's closed down. So if I want to go get a tasty and unique soda I have to fight carmeggedon AND the normal 405 North traffic. Other cons: one of the workers was making me a bit uncomfortable by trying to push products on me - okay, you've informed me of the four-for-whatever amount of dollars deal, can you please stop handing me five dollar chocolate bars to buy? I found myself waiting for her to help other customers before ultimately skirting around her to put all the damn things back. Also, one of the sodas we purchased seemed like it had been sitting around for too long, on the account of the bottle cap rusting on the inside. I didn't realize until I tasted metal upon sipping the drink. I wonder how long they keep their stock sitting around in the back/how long some of these drinks sit on display. read more

Such a cute place !! And the ladies who work here are so nice. Very helpful and sweet they seem like they enjoy their jobs. I couldn't give it 5 stars because of the price mark ups , of course it's to be expected at a novelty candy store, I just felt it was excessive. I mean they had the same poki that's sold at every liquor store for 1.99 but they were selling it $4.99. Pricing seemed a bit random , I bought a decent amount of stuff for about $20 , not everything was excessively marked up , and if youre looking for rarer candy sometimes you're willing to spend more. I'd say it's definitely not somewhere I'd bring a child bc I could see a kid easily blowing over a hundred there lol. But I don't mean to make this seem so negative. Two words: VIOLET CRUMBLE. MM surprised me for Valentine's Day with 6 bars of my favorite candy of all time - the Australian-made, no longer produced, FDA banned because of the lack of trans fat content on the nutrition label, crumbly crispy honey-flavored goodness that is Violet Crumble. There are very few places left in the US (and since production ceased, in Aussieland as well) that still sell Violet Crumble and MM managed to track this place down! Sure they're overpriced at $4 a pop, but unless you want to pay $40+ in shipping, this is definitely the best option. Besides, you'd have to be a grinch to not get giddy at the wall-to-wall displays of candy, new and vintage alike! He finally took me here this weekend, and I couldn't resist -- I came home with two more bars of Violet Crumble and a set of Hello Kitty Pez dispensers in a collectible lunch tin ($25). I will most certainly be back -- probably in the next few weeks or so to buy out their remaining supply of VC. read more

OH MY GOD. Whoever came up with the idea for this place deserves a gold star. Vintage candy from all around the world. Entire shelves devoted to different flavours of soda (most of which are made with real cane sugar!). Candy-related trinkets you didn't even know existed. I could probably live in this store. They've got rare candy here that's even older than I am! They have a section for all snacks AZN, Hello Kitty-related, and pretty much, straight from Asia i.e. special Hi-Chew flavors & green tea Kit Kat bars. From one continent to another, they've even got special candies from Europe like Milka & Kinder. For all you Willy Wonka lovers, no, sorry, Willy Wonka doesn't live here, but they also have a whole section dedicated to the beloved brand which is kind of fun! What caught my immediate attention upon entering the shop were the unusual sodas they carried including Bacon Soda & Buffalo Wing Soda...uh, yeah. Westwood was pretty darn smart to have this shop opened up here since it has a little bit of everything for everyone: kids, Asians, grandparents who know what the original Hunk bar tasted like, nostalgic Travel Study students feigning for a Kinder Bueno after going to London, and even the bacon lovers thirsty for some bacon soda. This place is like a museum... Lots of pretty cool stuff to look at, but nothing you can actually afford....well, maybe not that extreme! There are a lot of gimmicky disgustingly-fun-sounding treats that are offered here. I really enjoy looking through the store and reading through all the signs and sodas, like bacon and ranch flavored soda. Yup, I said it and YES they went there, that actually exists! There are also many "older" candies that people had long forgotten or thought were no longer manufactured. However, the prices are bit more than if you'd go to your local grocer to buy the more common named candy. Here's what normally happens: You're walking down Broxton, probably on your way to or from Chipotle or Five Guys, and you glance at this place as you walk by and think *that looks neat*. I brought my little nephew in here, but secretly, the visit here was solely for my visit. I love candies and toys and this place just made me giggidity that I was in the store for about 30 minutes. Dozens and dozens of all these different sodas that I couldn't buy at the time because I didn't want to be a bad influence on the young lad, but I'll be coming back and stocking up on all these sweet sodas. And the same goes for the all these rare and sometimes never heard of candies and chocolates that I was dying to try out. The owner is terrible and the candy is disgusting. We got candy that turned out to be super old and gross. When we asked to exchange or get a refund the owner said no. Customer service is awful and nobody should shop here. Also the candy is like 5 times the price so save your money and go to smart and final. I can't believe I'm writing a review about a candy store but that's how old and DISGUSTING the candy is. The owner is rude!!
