Sorry, probably one of my shortest and boringest review. Quality/Quantity - Small candy store. Fairly large selection. My daughter usually gets one of each salt water taffy. Sorry, I did not have time to take interior pictures. But I did fall in love with your window sign, see pictures. Cool decor. Atmosphere - See above. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 8pm or 10pm. Plenty of metered street parking, but if you are willing to walk half a mile, there is free residential parking. Service - Good. Price - Slightly expensive, but that is the cost for speciality candies. Inexpensive for me, as my daughter usually only gets 10 pieces of candy. Wow! Fun, Fun, Fun... a must stop in SLO! So this is my second location I have visited of Rocket Fizz, and favorite one so far! The high ceilings filled with nostalgia, great vibes, all the beverages and treats you can imagine, and so clean and well stocked! $$$$$ Its a cute shop, lots of different flavored sodas. Some interesting candies but many can be bought at CVS or 7-11. I get it, its a tourist shop but I was very surprised by the final cost. Young lady blond short hair with hand brace was SO NOT into her work atmosphere. I asked the flavor of the gift sodas she shrugs "same just with food coloring". One was cream one was berry flavored. Travel back in time as you walk through this cute decorative candy store. It has hello kitty, red power ranger, retro arcade station on display!! Some of the items available for purchase include peanut butter soda, ridiculous amount of candies that take you back to the good old days (80-90s era) and much more. This is a must if you're in the SLO area and want something sweet! They have got to have almost every American candy ever thought of and sold! You can also find some European and Asian candies as well along with different variety's of cold soda next to some Power Rangers. As soon as you step inside you will find yourself immersed in the candy world. You will also find Mike Wazowski, James P. Sullivan, Lisa Simpson, and even a gremlin or two lurking about. We found their "movie" section candies and bought the dark peanut butter cups and something made in Europe akin to oreos. The cups were super delicious and the oreo's were great as well. An even sweeter deal is if you check in! The staff is very nice and super helpful - let them know what you're looking for and they will help you find it. Super fun candy store right near Bubblegum alley. We stopped in to grab some gum & the guy who helped us was super nice and gave us recommendations to which gum will stick on the wall & which gum will blow the biggest bubbles. We ended up browsing around & made our way straight to bubble gum alley don the street. Debit card minimum is $2.00. Ton of awesome candy & sweets. Visually this is a very cool store. They have so many cool things but unfortunately everything is way overpriced. The staff is very nice and helpful. It's not their fault that the merchandise is marked up so steep. One example is of a Funko Pop (Hogwarts Express Carriage with Ron Weasley) valued at $19 but sold in this store for $46.99. Second was a Harry Potter Cauldron Mug priced at $36.99 but available on Amazon for only $16.00 They carry a wide variety of soda pop bottles and candy. My only negative is that they don't have samples. They have everything here. SO many old school things. Looks like new sellers are these yucky sodas. Dirt, grass, popped pimple. Weird. They say the Ranch makes people sick the most. All of them sound gross. They have a ton of them too. Licorices, gums, an array of Toblerone, regular candy that you find in the candy aisle, but gourmet chocolate also. Root beers, Lots of choices. The kid who was early 20's or 19's was cool and helpful. Great seller too. Had a cap on backwards. I think this is a must if you are in town. It is just incredible. I was teleported to my CHILDHOOD- when I walked into here. With everything from rare candy like Pocky Coconut and Green Tea flavors to Wasabi Shrimp Chips to Pop Rocks to all sorts of cream soda to any candy you can think of!!!!! Whenever I visit SLO I try to visit this candy/soda shop! They have so many cool treats I just wish I could try them all. My friends and I wanted to go here to try out their cream sodas. They have like 5-6 fridges full of different flavored sodas from many rare brands. You have cherry, blueberry, orange, grape, bacon, coffee (say whaaaa???) as well as many other kinds that you've probably never heard of. Besides the soda, there's a ton of different candy that you most likely won't find at your local grocery store. I even found Macha (Green Tea) Kit Kats here, but unfortunately it was $18 for a bag whereas in Japantown it's $5 haha! If you're just driving through this city, this spot is definitely worth a trip since you'll most likely find something rare and be surprised by how big this little store is. read more

This is the San Luis Obispo edition of the rocket fizz chain. Parking on higuera can be a little tricky due to the popularity of the area. There is always the theoretical street parking, but you have better odds of finding a spot in some of the side lots or in either the marsh street parking garage or even the mission parking. This is one of the smaller rocket fizz's I've been to but still manages to be a very busy store. This location has a lot of decor including an entire Volkswagen with Maggie Simpson at the wheel inside. There is just a ton of whimsy to draw the eye. The stock is pretty typical for a rocket fizz-that is to say novelty, retro, or imported candy items from all over. Need some cricket lollipops, bacon or pickle soda, cadbury's chocolate covered cookies, paleta payaso, spicy skittles or tamarind caramel? This is your place. Pricing is not as low as you'd like. It's hard to come out without spending ten or more dollars on just a few things, but some of the hard to get anywhere else stuff is worth it. I hear that some epic cocktails are possible with stuff like the cucumber soda. I mean if you are interested in making experimental home cocktail drink thingys. This little store in downtown SLO is all the business! This store offers various flavors of soda pop, old school retro candy and awesome store signs. When I walked in and saw all the candy I ate as a little girl I was in heaven. I purchased probably ten pices of candy and paid about $22.00. This is such a cool candy shop. We have to visit every time we come to Slo and now I work down the street from it. The candy is kind of pricey, but you can find all kinds of cool retro candy to regular run of the mill Salt Water taffy. My favorite are the Zots. They didn't have much, only one four piece string of grape flavor and a bunch of orange flavor so I was a bit bummed out. John always gets his Razzles here and they have a couple flavor options available for him. It's definitely worth popping in if you are downtown for Farmers Market! read more

For a place I am very surprised they are still in business, for being a highly over priced sweets shop. Overall great idea, but for being a sweets shop and not having and homemade candies or actual specialty candies I think really hurts the business as a whole. Took my nephew here over the weekend... Place is not too big but well stocked with an array of sweets. Both national and international alike. Prices are a bit steep but I get it. This was a great little nostalgic candy and sweets shop in SLO's downtown (whose life-sized Power Ranger standing outside drew me in), and the selection was absolutely huge. For the soda fan (like myself) there were dozens of different old-fashioned, glass-bottled sodas, and some of them were of, erm, extremely DIFFERENT flavors, like bacon, sweet corn, or hot buffalo wings. The selection of candies ranged from a salt water taffy bar of a sizable selection of flavors, to old favorites like Charleston Chews and Bit-o-Honey, to novelties like a giant bar of Toblerone about four times the size of typical tube, to world candies from places like Japan and Britain. In particular I was impressed by the selection of Japanese candies, some of which I've never even run across here at home in the Bay Area or even in Japantown in San Francisco. The walls are covered in retro signs and music posters and give the place a really fun vibe. The staff was super friendly and upbeat and eager to help, too. Everything was pretty reasonably priced here, and I bought a delicious bar of dark chocolate with cherries and almonds mixed in that I have been eating slowly to savor it - I should've bought two. If you're in SLO's downtown, definitely check this place out. read more

Definitely a happy place for all ages! They have huge selection of candies from throwbacks to modern day candies. Want candies from Overseas? Well they have it!! A variety of English/British and Asian/Japanese choices to chose from. My favorite cart was definitely the English cart, hands down. The assistant manager was very helpful and knew a lot about the candy he was selling. My boyfriend and I went in to get some gum for the bubblegum alley but ended up getting more than just that.
