I love salt water taffy.  I try to watch my sugar intake, so I'm always looking for sugar free salt water taffy.  We were walking on the Embarcadero and happened upon this candy store.  I asked to taste a sample before I purchased a bag.  I was inquiring about the different colors of taffy and what flavors they were.  The guy who helped me went above and beyond!  He actually wrote down each color and the corresponding flavor.  OMG!  That was unbelievable that he took the time to do that.  I asked him for his name.  He wrote it down.  I think his name is Syler.  Wow!  What a great employee he is!!  I hope that he sees this review.  He is AMAZING!!! read more

What an awesome, delicious place! If you can think of a flavor, any flavor... they most likely have it here mixed into some sweet delicious Taffy. The cashier was very warm and welcoming, he even invited us to taste-test a few pieces of taffy before we purchased it. We ended up walking away with a ton of taffy because we couldn't decide which we liked best. Since we overindulged, I put them in the freezer, so hopefully they freeze well. We shall see. Great taffy for a great price! The shop is a massive room with tons of jars of taffy. We were allowed to pick any 2 pieces of taffy to sample for free; our favorites were Coffee & Caramel Apple. To buy taffy, you fill a bucket with as much as you want and the price is $13 per pound in the bucket. I can't believe this was my first time here. I have come to Morro Bay at least once every year of my teenage and adult years. My friend had to buy 3 pounds of candy for her dad. I've been to a few salt water taffy places in my life but this might take the cake for the most options (if there's somewhere with more, I'd love to hear about it!) I also appreciate that they let you sample a few pieces so you can help whittle down what flavors you want to buy. But even with that...plan on walking away with more pieces than you originally anticipated. It's almost a guarantee. You pay by weight so keep that in mind. Prices are...fine. The Staff is welcoming - offering at times for us to sample 1-2 flavors of the day or take a sample from one of the buckets; it varies but they do allow you to sample within reason. At 36-years-old my metabolism is still fairly high, so it's all good, right? Right?! The female employee at the counter was friendly. She mentioned sample one taffy for free. I'm not a fool. I tried chili mango and really enjoyed it. That and huckleberry were two of my favorites from the hodgepodge of taffy I grabbed. I declined the "now famous Chicken and Waffles." As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a young gal who offered us each a free taffy of our choice and another sampler, possibly 'Taffy of the Week' and it happened to be S'mores flavored (yum!). For my other freebie I chose Chocolate Caramel Mocha. The store was nicely decorated with a fun carousel theme. Carousel Taffy currently offers over 70 flavors and can be purchased at $10.95/lb,including a selection of sugar-free taffy, assorted bags of 4-oz, 8-oz or 1-pound, and they also sell caramel corn and other candies. Each bucket of little mountains of taffy has the flavor and ingredient information listed (just in case there is an allergy issue). Even though I'm lucky that none in my family are allergic to food ingredients I found this helpful for those that do. My daughter grabbed a bucket and filled it with as much taffy, and as many flavors as she could. She found some unique flavors that we didn't find here locally. They have 'Chicken and Waffles Taffy'... first time seeing that flavor anywhere. Some of her choices were Raspberry Lemonade, Neopolitan, Huckleberry, and Cotton Candy to name a few. While ROCKIN around Morro Bay, we happened by this wonderful TAFFY establishment. SWEET! Literally the WILLY WONKA OF "local" TAFFY SHOPPES...with an assortment of flavors so vast, that it would stupefy any customer that walks in. Best part of Carousel Taffy is that if you compare the taffy QUALITY and FRESHNESS with all the other taffy purveyors in this town, then this is the ONLY one you'll visit to get your "taffy fix"! True, the taffy is not made on the premises, BUT the product is meticulously taken care of once it has arrived. The "low down" I obtained from Delenn, the very product knowledgeable and fabulously customer service oriented P.I.C.(Person In Charge) at the time of our visit...was that the taffy is rotated often, so that nothing remains at the bottom of the taffy barrel(s) for a long time. In addition the temperature and humidity of the store is monitored closely. Both dehumidifiers and fans are used in this process. Thank-you Delenn for the edification, you ARE Carousel Taffy FABULOUS! Once you sample the taffy... it's extremely difficult to walk out without taking some of these delectable chewy pieces of "fun in your mouth" home. The "premium" Coffee flavor and the Sugar-Free Peanut Butter are both must try's! Of course...once you see all that TAFFY, ya just get the urge to try one of each! The prices were reasonable and it was a fun little candy shop to explore in Morro Bay. It is located amongst lots of touristy shops. My only complaint is that I thought the taffy was made locally but found out that it is not. This place was great! We walked in late on a Saturday (about 9pm) on a rainy evening. Super friendly greeting and the young woman working says "try anything you want have some samples!" We did... there are literally hundreds of flavors of taffy and the tasting & shopping experience is so much fun. If you love taffy you'll love this place no matter what. It was a fun little walk on our vacation to morrow bay that we stumbled upon it. It reminded me of a smaller version of the taffy place in San Francisco on the pier. It's still nice but comparing it to that knocks it down a bit for me. They have a bunch of delicious flavors but nothing I hadn't really had previously. I believe they buy a lot of their taffy from the same place as the previously mentioned location(Taffy town I think is the company?) and they don't have much in the way of other candy. But I love taffy, I love the buckets of all the flavors and just filling a bucket. It's fun, plus it was the first time my daughter really took part in it. My wife and I enjoy vacationing in Pismo Beach, and whenever we do, we spend a day or two in Morro Bay to eat and shop. On a Wednesday, around 5:00pm, we recently stumbled across a real gem in CAROUSEL TAFFY. We were walking by and saw all the barrels / buckets inside, filled with different colors with different flavors of taffy. There were so many to choose from. There was a male employee inside that was super friendly and said we could try a couple samples if we wanted. Of course, we each tried one or two and ended up buying almost a pound of different flavors of taffy. The price was reasonable for a tourist town. If you're a fan of taffy, you have to try this spot. There is parking on the street and a free parking lot across the street along with a public restroom. We will surely return in the future. read more

This is the cutest place with tons of every kind of taffy you can imagine. On a family specific request we drove to pick up Chili Mango taffy. We ended up bringing more home than we intended. The sales helper had us sample a few varieties and naturally we ended up buying 3 pounds. I do t know if they do this every time but, we got a free bag of taffy because we bought 3 pounds!
